Is Circumcision A Secular Religious Rite Disguised As "Medicine"?

Routine circumcision began in the United States in the years before the start of the 20th Century as a means to curb masturbation, and became a common procedure during the 1900s. Proponents say it helps stave off urinary tract infections in infant boys, and can offer some protection against contracting sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV.

However, many parents and doctors say the procedure is unnecessary and can cause reduced sexual sensation later in life, as well as traumatic pain and risk of infection at the time of the procedure. In recent years, more and more parents have opted to leave their male children's foreskin intact.

"It's a pretty common question for both first-time and more experienced parents," said Dr. Poj Lysouvakon of the University of Chicago Hospitals. "Many have heard it's painful for babies, and some men who were circumcised as infants say they feel they were assaulted or violated. As a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which no longer recommends routine neonatal circumcision, I tell them it's a cultural issue and a personal decision."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of circumcisions performed in the United States fell from 85 percent in 1965 to 57 percent in 2004. Critics say that circumcision is usually reserved only for religious regions in most other parts of the world, and Americans are beginning to realize it may not be medically justified.

Circumcision rates in recent years have significantly decreased in the western United States, where many states' Medicaid programs -- including those in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada and Montana -- have stopped paying for neonatal circumcisions. While 80 percent of infant boys in midwestern states are circumcised prior to their hospital release, only 32 percent of baby boys in western states undergo the procedure, according to the CDC.

Conventional medicine critic Mike Adams, author of "Take Back Your Health Power," said circumcision is a "cruel, painful and permanently damaging" procedure that seriously damages infant boys' sex organs.

Dear DV,
I've never posted, but I am a long time reader. I love your blog. Keep fighting the good fight. I've been in a relationship with a man I dearly love since I finished law school in 2006. We've been living together since last year and have talked about marriage "down the road". I'll be 30 next year and would like to either be a mother or have one on the way by then. The problem is my boyfriend is in no rush. The last time I mentioned it to him he said 'when the economy gets right'. I'm like, when is that? I can't spend the next few years in suspense. I need to know I am with someone who wants the same thing I do. 'Yes, but later' is no longer an option.

Hello COG, welcome to the blog. Read your piece. I feel your pain. I advise you to get pregnant. That's what men and women were designed to do at this stage in life. I think "too much talking" is a bigger epidemic in this country than the "swine flu". Couples can talk about marriage and family to the point where they get in their own way.

Also, most men are scared. Marriage and family is heterosexuality in action. Between the vaccines and Plantation memes, most men today have been subliminally programmed to fear marriage and commitment to a woman. Thus the large number of De Facto Homos (30+ year old men without Chicks).

So I'm one of the BIGGEST fans of DV and I took his "just get pregnant" advice in February 2004. Where that advice led me is here...Today I celebrate the 4th birthday of my beautiful, brilliant and healthy son who arrived with perfect timing..on my 38th birthday.

I was engaged to my husband when I got pregnant but he was wavering. Getting pregnant certainly motivated him to follow through on the promise and marry. We enjoyed a beautiful wedding celebration and some blessed moments as husband and wife and as parents. However, he often wavered on whether he wanted to be married.

Today, we're embarking down the road of divorce. He would say he's committed to his son, just not committed to marriage. I would say he's committed to fear and failure. As DV would teach, there's nothing more noble than being a PRESENT husband and father. Only the constant presence of a father can lead a boy to manhood. It's this absence of "father" in so many lives that I attribute to the multitude of FEARFUL men who are lost at being "MEN."

My love for my son will motivate and inspire me to tell him EVERYDAY that his daddy LOVES him, can't wait to see him and is the funniest, tallest (despite his 5 feet, 8 inches) and smartest of them all.

So the choice of whether or not "to just get pregnant," it may or may not motivate a man. The question is, WHAT KIND OF MAN DO YOU WANT AND NEED? The man who has a vision for his life that includes a wife and child and fearlessly accepts that noble undertaking (because we know it's not easy but comes with great rewards) or the man who will only respond to circumstance????? I want the former. Is that visionary man easy to find...absolutely when you approach life fearlessly and faithfully with your own vision.

So my advice (and I'm still living and learning) is to choose the MAN who shares your vision! Always choose love and certainly choose a MAN.

The Empire strikes back – right when when public support for the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan sinks to all time lows, an anti-war Islamic extremist with links to suicide bombers goes on a shooting rampage at a U.S. army base, reinvigorating support for the war on terror and demonizing opposition to it as anti-American extremism. The scam would be believable if it wasn’t so perfectly staged.

Without getting into convoluted conspiracy theories about mind control and whatever else, not that they aren’t without merit, the facts we already know about Hasan and his behavior prior to the deadly shootings just screams out “patsy” and “set-up” and almost exactly mirrors other terror scams the Empire has run in the past.

Just like the would-be liquid bombers that were supposedly planning on bringing down multiple airliners in August 2006, who were caught on CCTV buying bulk supplies of cake in the very hours before the plot, Hasan’s pre-shooting behavior contradicts completely the idea that he was preparing for a deadly rampage.

Shortly before the massacre, Hasan was caught on camera shopping at the convenience store located on the army base – laughing and joking. Is this the behavior of a man psychologically readying himself for the high-intensity horror of gunning down dozens of his colleagues, or someone unaware of what was to follow?

We learn that Hasan “Showed no signs of worry or stress when he stopped at 7-Eleven for his daily breakfast of hash browns, said Jeannie Strickland, the store’s manager.” ” He came in (Thursday) morning just like normal,” she said, “nothing weird, nothing out of the ordinary.”

This then mutated into the notion that Hasan was “anti-war” and later we were informed that he was “facing an FBI investigation for expressing sympathy with suicide bombers.” The fact that this was known by authorities six months ago and still Hasan was not only allowed to remain at the Army base, but also invited to participate in Homeland Security exercises only raises more red flags.

The real magic happens when the experiment is repeated a third time, and during the experiment, before the subject is asked for a cookie, another unidentified person walks into the room and takes a cookie themselves! At the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Breast Cancer Symposium held in San Francisco recently, researchers from the University of Rochester Medical Center made an announcement that at first glance may seem startling -- at least it may startle people who are unaware of the preventive and healing power of nutrients. When they studied 166 women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, the scientists found the vast majority, about 70 percent, had something other than their cancer in common: they had very low levels of vitamin D in their blood. What's more, women whose disease had progressed to late-stage (i.e. terminal) cancer had the lowest levels of all.

In this study, Joan Lappe PhD, RN and colleagues looked prospectively at more than 400 postmenopausal women over a four-year period of time. In one group the women were given 1100 IU of vitamin D and 1000 mg of calcium daily. The control group did not receive this. The results of the study were that the women who took the vitamin D and calcium over the ensuing four years reduced their rate of cancer by an amazing 60%. In fact the authors looked in more detail and found that for every 10 ng/ml increase in a woman's vitamin D blood level, the relative risk of cancer dropped by 35%. These data were not limited to breast cancer but included all cancers.

The New York Times has lifted the lid on how Al Gore stands to benefit to the tune of billions of dollars if the carbon tax proposals he is pushing come to fruition in the United States, while documenting how he has already lined his pockets on the back of exaggerated fearmongering about global warming.

Broder does reveal how one of the companies Gore invested in, Silver Spring Networks, recently received a contract worth $560 million dollars from the Energy Department to install “smart meters” in people’s homes that record (and critics fear could eventually regulate) energy usage.

You won’t find them calling it by that name, but the “New Green Deal” being proposed by the Obama administration, as well as U.N. environment agency head Achim Steiner, is nothing more than a global warming tax designed to further castrate U.S. sovereignty and geld Americans to accept increasingly centralized global regulations.

“Investments of $750 billion could create a “Green New Deal” to revive the world economy and protect the environment, perhaps aided by a tax on oil, the head of the U.N. environment agency said on Thursday,” reports Reuters.

Steiner said the U.N. would need funds to “fight global warming” and that one means of acquiring them would be by “taxing oil in rich nations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.”

Accepting the premise that such a tax would inevitably be passed on to consumers, Steiner claimed, “It would be almost, if not totally, unnoticed by the consumer,” he said, especially since oil prices have fallen from more than $140 a barrel at mid-2008 peaks to about $40.”
