So, in top-secret Boeing world Matt rarely gets to tell me what he's up to. But, now there is a model of something he worked on so I guess it's public knowledge. He worked on how to get the Phantom Ray on the back of the 747 that usually carries the Space Shuttle

Seeing as I've yet to get stamps for the cards I figure this is the best place for the annual Oser update - and I have no idea where to start ... Maybe it's just me, but it seems this year has gone by in a blink and to look at my blog you'd not get a lot of information (seems I'm been a rotten blogger this year - New Year's resolutions material I guess.)

I'm to blame for the lack of communication ... seeing as I've spent more time in my car since July than I have in my bed (feels that way anyway). The planets aligned themselves in July and I was asked to teach a graduate cluster in promotions at Lindenwood University. And I was then asked to pick-up two undergraduate day classes and since my cluster was over will I pick up another graduate course. On a positive note - I've gotten to listen to LOTS of audio books. (I've a very loyal Audible listener.) And I've loved it - the only issue being the fact that I have no idea what we'll be doing in class from day-to-day. I've learned a lot of lessons the hard way this past six- months, and I'm sure more hard lessons to come. Next semester I'll be teaching on Tuesday and Thursday - which I'm hoping will help alleviate the pressure a little. Matt has been a trooper through it all and I'm sure he's wondering what he's gotten himself into.

Speaking of Matt, he's courageously leading the first year Webelos through this scouting adventure and he continues to hope that the sky will fall on him and he will be able to give it up soon. In the meantime he finally became a pilot - radio controlled that is. He's been looking at planes FOREVER and he finally took the plunge and bought a large styrofoam object that is longer than the washer and dryer side-by-side. Unfortunately the weather has not been behaving and it's been too windy to get out much. (He even has a membership at the local RC airport - yes, there is such a place.)

When the boys were not at camp this summer we were lucky this summer to visit with Matt's buddies - Martin, Derek J and Derek T and their families. And over Thanksgiving we made the pilgrimage to Orlando.

Tyler is now 10 - can you believe it? And has recently become a major Star Wars fan - and Lego Star Wars is even cooler apparently. He's a master of invention, still hates math and keeps us guessing. (Watch out Mythbusters!)

Morgan in the meantime is working toward his goal of becoming a professional wrestler (which I fervently hope he outgrows). He's pretty good if I do say so myself. When he's not trying to knock people over he's busy figuring out how to push your buttons and explaining the mysteries of the world.

So, that's us in a nutshell -- herding cats and running around -- and I think that is the way it is supposed to be. Love and joy to everyone!

OK - let's see if I can get this right (I'm only the reporter today).

Yesterday Matt was dropping the kids off and there was a political "elect me" poster in a nearby yard. Morgan remarked that he hopes we get a "better president next time." According to Matt, Morgan is under the impression that they no longer have "cookies 'n' cream" milk as a choice for school lunch because the president determined it had too much sugar in it. Not exactly sure how he connected the dots from school lunch to the president, but there you have it. Politics according to a 7-year-old.

(And based on this news release maybe there is something to it - shows what I know.)

Now with this said - I don't want a million comments about the success or failure of this president - (don't force me to turn the comments off :) )

OK - I have a few minutes before class starts so I'll try to catch up - if that is at all possible.

Currently I'm teaching everyday (including Saturday). It's been an adventure - especially as it seems I'm making it up as I go along. I would feel better about the process if I knew if my efforts will be rewarded and I will be teaching the same courses again. It's the not knowing that is making me crazy. In the meantime I feel stretched too thin, on edge and wary that my students are not learning anything as we go along. (Based on the test scores, I'll say "no" learning is not happening.) The undergrads are so very different from the grads - understandably so.

Splitting time between teaching and my other job has been a trial as well - and I think I spend more time in my car than anywhere these days (although this has allowed my audio book consumption to triple.) But we all have our dues to pay and I have to believe it's going to come together - that's how I ended up teaching in the first place. So until I can get on full-time somewhere I'll keep playing it by ear.

Matt has been great through all of this. I know he too is counting the days until Mid-December when this session is over. Speaking of Matt - when he's not trying to figure out what to do with the cub scouts for the next meeting he's been enthusiastically following the Cardinals and finding us a new fridge. (The ice maker went out months ago and now there is a constant stream of water that leaks from somewhere - even though the water is turned off.) The new unit will be delivered on Saturday and the boys can't wait for the automatic water dispenser. (Doesn't take much does it?)

We are still trying to get adjusted to the new school schedule - they aren't off the bus until 4:30ish so it makes evening very compact what with what seems like endless homework, dinner and maybe 20 minutes to play. It's making for some cranky kids and crankier parents. The nights we have something else going on seem beyond rushed. I'm so thankful they aren't super involved in a sport that meets several times a week - it's hard enough to get to swimming on the weekend.

OK - students are starting to show up gotta run.

So, lindenwood has asked me to pick up two more courses - public relations and mass media law -so of course I said yes - only today I found out what was supposed to be two mon wed fri classes ins't and I will be teaching one class everyday. This is not really part of the plan. The big problem is the the boys do not get on the bus until 8:20 and I need to be an hour away at that time - looks like we are back to the daycare bus for a bit -as I have no idea what the 2012 schedule may offer. In the meantime I will be splitting time at my other job for awhile. If I find more teaching ....
