Hello Everyone,

This pretty Pregnancy Scrapbook Journal was created last year for a client in Singapore - Amanda. It was fun to work with her as she was very welcoming to my ideas and actually wanted few pages replicated from my last pregnancy album that you can see here.

Amanda loved the album and sent me her testimonial too!

Divij - customised Baby Boy First Year Scrapbook

Hello There!

I have finished all my projects for the year before October and now taking a break. Apt time to work on editing all previous projects. Starting with this super super and elaborate Baby Boy Scrapbook that actually has been my most challenging memory book with just too many pics and details to be captured per page. Hence, it has several pockets, flip flaps and other interactive elements. It totally had around 16 pages and became quite bulky at the end of the process so i sourced a specially sized box which was decorated as well. Its a picture heavy post :)

Soccer Theme Party Decor and Cake Table

Hello Everyone

Am really excited to share the recent Theme Party Decor I had worked on. Manika came back to me this year too for her son's birthday party ideas! Last year we had worked on a Superhero theme and she was keen to work with me again. I was really happy to know that my work was so very appreciated and trusted. so the theme this year was Soccer with Messi as the main attraction and we stuck with a white and blue theme. After alot of brainstorming i came up with several ideas to create part decor and cake table decor. Several other items were created to match the theme as well. It was a lot of hard work which paid off beautifully.

Manika had very kind words to share about this project. Thanks Manika!

So here are all the pics from the venue!

The main entrance was through a lawn so I created a welcome banner! How cool is that!

Along with the balloons I made some pom poms in white and blue which were placed on the trees and plans around.

Inside the hall I created this cute banner that shouted Goal along with paper fans matching the theme!

Here are some paper fans for the entrance to the main hall. The center was designed to carry the birthday boy's name - Shiv and some had Messi on it!

The table centers were also desinged and hand cut. It had a Messi Jersey plus several other cordinating littel cut outs along with helium balloons

This is the backdrop created for the cake table. The Banner was designed with cordinating paper fans!

The Cake table was designed to be fun and exciting. Since Manika was keep to replicate the Super Hero Lollypops Idea from last party I suggested to have two small stadium stands with T shirts on sticks with hidden chocolate bars! :)

Am it did turn out exactly the way I had imagined! the center area was kept for the cake.

Blogging after real long since august has been my vacation month! Yes I had 2 breaks. Woo hoo! a short one with the besties and hubby at Pondicherry and next we were off to Ladakh! My dream vacation that we had been planning over 4 years!

am a day late in posting and I am totally sorry Nikita :| but like i said am gonna do it! :D

So Nikita from Infinite Emotions invited me to this 'Getting to know me' blog hop. She has shared her answers on her blog here. Please do visit her awesome Blog!

So Nikita asked me to join this fun Blog Hop long ago (literally). Usually I would give it a pass but I didnt wanna say a No to her! Nikita is my go to friend :D

So I know Nikki for almost 4 years now. She came to me as a client when I used to sell Craft supplies via Crafting Queen Craft Store. Though it began as just a client talk we were soon talking things about how to craft, what to crafts, product talks and then to wassup and hows life. I still dont remember how and when we became good friends and started talking things apart from crafting. I found her a very happy go lucky yet a practical person. Like me, she is all black and white with no grey areas to be misunderstood. I love her bold and fun attitude and that gave me another reason to ask her to join the Lulupu.com Design team when we started back in March 2012. Ever since, we have chatted, discussed blog and website work, gossiped, laughed at crazy crafty things we did and made several plans to meet. Yep, we havn't met yet but I know her enough to hug her when i do! Am so glad I know u Nikki! you have been a wonderful friend :)

This Blog Hop asks me 4 questions. Now am totally out of writing so I will try my best to be as clear as I can.

What Am I working on?

Crafting Queen

Like many of you know I share my creative work here on this Blog along with some pics on my Fb Page. I have just completed a full-fledged customized birthday theme party decor last sunday. And I have to get back on a very very very tiring detailed Baby Boy book that's lying half undone. You will know what i mean when i finally get to share it. Its a 16 page large format Scrapbook that I need to close within next 7-10 days! Boy am scared of deadlines now!

My website actually takes away a lot of my time and effort to ensure we deliver the best quality craft supplies and keeping the crafty world super happy! I am making my long term plans to expand my business and hoping to see that day come soon.

2. How does my craft work differ from others of the same genre?

Am not sure how I can classify my work as it really doesn't fit well in any genre in particular. But I will try and explain what I do. I love working with paper pads in general and enjoy making Memory books and Scrapbooks the most. I prefer happy prints and am not much inclined towards florals. I follow my own creative lead when making Scrapbook pages and try to be as detailed as possible. I enjoy making interactive Scrapbooks with hidden journaling or tags or even pics! Maybe I am Scrapbooker per say!

My Second favourite thing to work on is theme party decor! It's something that allows me to come up with some fun ways to make parties full of life!

3. Why do I write/create?

Like I said am not much of a writer anymore. There was a time I loved to write poems and essays and even blogged in general but off late with so much to do already writing really has taken back seat and I miss it at times. Recently along with my husband a new chapter began in writing. We call it Name Place Animal Thing. With this blog we expect to share our passion for what we love. Its about things we enjoy doing, places we loved travelling to, food that makes our tummy grumble and of course, our pets!

I Create because that's what I was meant to do. I have spent my entire childhood imagining to be a creative person. I lost it somewhere as I grew up in a rush to be something the society made me feel more apt about. After being 6 years in a corporate 9-5 job and crafting as a hobby, I took a very difficult decision to give up the comfortable salary and slog day and night to be financially independent as a paper craft artist and entrepreneur. Though its still a struggle I love what I do as the appreciations and smiles received for the work done gives me a real high!

4. How does my writing/creating process work?

I will stick with only crafting at this point :)

I wish I could boast about how organized I am but I cant. I am a multi-tasker and more than often am doing 2-3 things in a go. However, I have also taken up maintaining an organizer to take down notes when receiving a custom order from a client. I am very finicky when it comes to perfection. And i expect to know the details to a level that will ensure I am able to deliver close to the clients expectation. So ask several questions, take notes, take a day to plan the creative dashboard and then while working i change the route several times as theory never matches the practicals! Sometimes, am inspired by the beautiful work i see on pinterest from other crafters and several times I try to do something new so that i am not bored myself! I do love experimenting with craft supplies and do things that make my work stand out as unique and memorable.

Yep, thats it. I haven't written down so much ever since.... wait... i dont even rem! :D

I got to Kripa through her beautiful entries as a regular participant at Lulupu.com Blog. I followed her work and enjoyed seeing her creation and soon I realized she would be a wonder design team member. Kripa was very excited and supportive to be on the team even though she puts up in the aussie land. But the distance didnt make a difference thanks to the www! I have got to know Kripa over the last few months as a warm, helpful and very humble person. She is multi talented and I just adore her mixed media work and layouts.

Once Upon a Sketch - July Challenge

Its really after a long time that I am participating in a challenge. I love the beautiful Layout at Once Upon a Sketch and the DT's work is so inspiring. I think its a great place to learn from many talented crafters across the world!

Here is my entry based on the July Sketch. I took the whole sketch in a vertical fashion instead. This Layout is a part of Baby Boy Scrapbook I have completed recently on commission. I loved how it turned out. It has a accordion style folding photo mot opportunity hence its limited to just one picture. on bottom right corner is the journaling space for the Mommy. The Paper is from America Craft Flea Market Paper Collection. even the Tags have been fussy cut out from one of the pages. I just added some embellishments made out of scrap pieces of paper and Tim Holtz Paper String.

I am not very good at mixed media so i love working with papers and die cuts alot. Am sure am just a beginner when it comes to such pretty things but I totally loved joining the challenge and I loved how this layout has turned out

Baby Boy First Year Scrapbook - Vedant

I haven't been very active off late but there were so many things I was busy with whole of June. Firstly we moved www.lulupu.com to a whole new platform :) If you havn't had a chance to stop by I urge you to do so and share some feedback. Once that was taken care of we had a crazy lot of orders (but of course) :D. Last week of June I completed this commissioned Baby Boy Scrapbook that encapsulates the beautiful memory of the babies first year journey.

40th Ruby Anniversary Guestbook

Good morning!

and TGIF :) Just dropping by to share the gorgeous guestbook i made on commission 2 weeks ago! My client wanted a Guestbook to be gifted to her parents on theri special Ruby anniversary! 40 years together is sure a thing to celebrate! What a beautiful way to capture memories of the day than have all the friends and family invited to write their blessings as a memory keep for the couple. And it has 40 message boxes too! She also wanted to add few pics and it was decided to go ahead with 4 by 6 size pics only. The theme was Red, White & Gold with black as base. Its a 12 by 9 inch binded album that I have tried for the first time and I am sure I am having more thoughts about it already :D

Here are all the pages in sequence right from the cover. I have extensively used my forgotten dies and punches and worked with Distress Inks and stenciling too.

I just came by to share this frame that I had made for my mum for mothers day. I know how much Mum loves her family and nothing matters to her the most and this frame was so apt! I have used my favourite American crafts papers again with some pretty pebbles chipboard die cuts :) I have let the papers do all the talking.

Ok so here are some cute Gift Tags for a commissioned order from a repeat client. Love it when clients come back to me with more ideas and enough truest to let me execute it my way. The brief was simple. 20 odd big size gift tags for a little boy to pass on to friends and family. However, they all had to be quirky, boyish, cute and colourful.

And of course the love for glitters that my client has :)

So I designed different sets and put them together.

Photo Frames Love & Family

Hi there,

Here are 2 more frames I had made last week. One is on Love and another on Family Theme. My idea behind these was to recreate a scrapbook Page look and hence it is designed in such a way. Let me know what you think :)

The first one is the Family theme frame. I have the colours very unisex. I love the American craft Flea Market Paper pad and used the main papers from this collection and added some cut outs paper pieces from my stash of crate paper pads the name of which i cant recollect.

The second one is a Love them frame and i somehow wanted it to be pink and not red :) I kept it simple and quirky.

Mini Chest of Drawers - Botanical Odyssey

Hey there,

Finally got the chance to come back and share this little master piece (at least for me) since it was my first try but I totally loved how it turned out. I have used Kaisercraft Botanical Garden Paper collection and die cut collectables along with my new little metal charms and findings :) I preferred to add papers even to the inside and outside of the drawers :) Yes its totally matted with pretty pretty papers and I love the final purple look. For the top I have used some mixed Prima flowers with coordinating crystals. Lots of pics to share and look forward to your review.

Desk Caddy - Chase your Dreams!

Its almost been a month since I last posted! I have couple of projects in the queue to show you :) Firstly the 2nd Birthday Challenge special at Lulupu Blog is still on until this month end. The celebrations are still on and I also shared an inspiration with a mixed media frame :). For more details click HERE

So about this desk caddy which was pleading to look pretty for over a month was a request by my DH. He said "can you make something for my desk" and ta da this was the best i could think of. Now he ain't into flashy and too colorful stuff so I stuck with a simple design. I just adore the papers from the Flea Market collection by American Crafts as many can be used for masculine projects too. Since he wanted a simple quote I chose this die cut from Olivia Die-Cuts that says "Chase your dreams". Its so perfect for him :). The chipboard embellishments were picked from Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic Chipboard collection. Hope you like it. He sure did!

I wanted to use the left over wood washes green paper so I tried a grungy look of a old broken wall. Not sure if i succeded.

Colourful Life Mini Photo Book Album

Hi Friends

Am back with another mini :) This one however is totally my style happy and bright.

Its a custom order for a photo heavy scrapbook mini and I was given the headings of each page which do show as titles as well.

Its a continuation of the hinge binding design I had done recently for this Mini Album. In this one i actually added a lot more photo matting and tags as requested. Since it was very interactive i also went ahead and captured it in a short video which you can see towards the end of this post.

Precious Moments 6 by 6 Mini Pocket Album with Hinge Binding

Hi Friends

This time am super excited to share my all new Mini album. Two reasons am pretty proud of it. one - I finally gave in to use the pretty Secret Admirer paper pack from Kaisercraft and two - because i tried a new hinge binding technique and it all came together beautifully for me! I am a big fan of designer papers and i can hoard them forever! But this album has inspired me to get them out and make some more minis.

This album has 12 pages with ample space to journal on tags or add more pics. There are also 6 paper photo mats which will allow to add 12 pics of 4 by 6 inch size easily or maybe you can create your own collage here!

It took me 3 days to complete this album and I have been dying to share it here!

I am sharing all the pics but towards the end i have also shared a video to help you understand how this album looks on a more personal front. Do leave your feedback for me.

How To - Mixed Media Wall Art with Gesso and Multi Medium

Good Morning

Here is a quick post to share the recent mixed media attempt I have made. Yes i am going to try all the techniques and products I have always been no so friendly with.

For this layout I used one of the heavily printed paper from an Echo Park collection. Sometimes large prints are often ignored due to their bold look and feel but they are great for such projects! So for the first step I tried to create some texture by using the American Crafts Chevron Stencil some Gesso with my Palette knife. I found using the palette knife did make spreading the Gesso alot more easier. In some section I have used Matte - Studio Multi-Medium too. One thing I admit is that you can never judge a product just be reading about it. You must give it a try to see how it works its magic :)

The basic difference is the results achieved from each, this is purely from my understanding and experience

1. Gesso - its very similar to white acrylic paint but only thinner. It dries hard, making the surface more stiff. Artist use Gesso to prepare (or "primes") the surface for painting, making the surface slightly textured and ready to accept acrylic paint. Without gesso, the paint would soak into the weave of the canvas. It dries white so its great to make bright things tone down a bit and also create some white area on background. Its not ink resistant and allows you actually add colour later on.

2. Multi Medium Gel - It dries clear so you can see the background shine through. also its ink resistant so you can create lovely patterns like I did. The basic use for these is to build texture in paintings by mixing them with acrylic paint or even magicals from Lindy's Stamp Gang. If you add a small bit of it to your paint it will also extend the drying time so you work around it easily. The Soft gel is the medium that is most often used by paper artists. It can be used as a glue for collage and it is also used to make photocopy transfers. So basically it is a glue, a paint, and decoupage stuff.

Can you see the little Chevron path on top right? that's the Gesso work. its white and ink resistant. the chevron patch on left bottom is done by using gel medium and hence its clear. this layout looks much pretty in person :)

After its all dried I used coordinating Distress Inks to make the background a bit subtle. I have used a combination of Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick. Do keep a paper towel handy to remove excess inks from the textured patched immediately.

This is the Layout without the frame to show you the textures better :)

I used the backing of the stencil as a photo mat, added some left over broken mdg branches and coloured them with acrylic paints. The flowers are ready made and sponged just a little with Gesso to make them match the BG. Finally I added some Pebbles chipboard embellishments to complete this.

I hope this encourages you to try some mixed media yourself :)

Hi people!

Finally got a chance to get my hubby to click some nice pics of this Cuckoo Clock that I finished in early January actually! I had a new year resolution to finish my incomplete projects and yes this has been hanging out in my craft room for exactly an year. I remember because I started it when I did a Wall clock made to order. See HERE. But somehow I never got to finish it :(

I have used some ready made flowers and the orange ones are punch craft flowers which have been distressed. all the flowers were sprayed with Lindys Cactus Gold Starbust Spray. Love the shimmer. Several chipboard pieces are from different collection of Studio Calico chipboard.

This is a Kaisercraft cuckoo clock that I hoarded all this while and now my hubby finally smiles that its done ;) Coz i added a pic from our recently celebrated 3rd anniversary. This is my gift for him for Valentines Day!

Christmas Theme Birthday Scrapbook

Am sure most of you would be wondering if I am still in the celebration mood? Aha, more from the backlog of last year.

This was the last project completed by me and I actually finished it within a week! didnt look at anything else until I was done. This Scrapbook came in an order from a repeat client for her daughters second year birthday! She wanted 10 pages of a photo book plus guest book for a Christmas theme Birthday. For her First birthday we had done an Old McDonald Farm Theme.

I only did the loose pages as it was all to go in the slip in transparencies of the Scrapbook.

Initially I was a bit lost on how to combine a festivity with a birthday but int he due course i totally enjoyed. Infact i added more glitters after I took the pics. Was in such a rush to handover this in time as it was a Album plus a guest book!

When I stared this blog on 12th December 2009 little did i know the journey that awaits. I still go back to see the work i did back then and how amateurish it used to be. But its been so exciting and enlightening and i have to thank each one of your for your support and encouragement! Pregnancy Scrapbook

Ola!

Yeah am back! Now this was one fun project and yet very challenging for me. It was the first time i was doing a Scrapbook that captured the 9 months pregnancy journey for someone expecting a little angel early next year.

I actually took almost 2 months to complete this from scratch. I also came up with a new album binding that I had seen long ago over the net and gave it a try with my own thought. I think i really liked this over the ring binding maybe. I guess I can improvise and improve it next time as well.

Priya was very happy and shared a feedback with me too

"Whosoever saw it couldn't believe that it was handmade. The finishing is so clean and perfect and the designing is creative. I wanted to make a scrapbook on my own but never ever in my dreams I could have made something even close to this. Thanks Karuna for creating a perfect baby shower gift."

So this is how the final cover looked like with a space to add a pic. Can you see the binding on the left edge? aint it neat?

So here begins the beautiful journey. In the left we have space for the daddy and mommy to be to add their pics and also write their first take on the big news.

On the right side page the couple can share their pic together and their thoughts can be scribbles in the little personal diary tied with a bow.

On the left there is space for pics from month 1 and month 2 along with few tags and journaling notes.

Similarly we have the space for Month 3 and Month 4 and a tag hidden behind the pic

Coming to Month 5, I created a little journal diary as requested by the client since its a month where a lot happens. And its that time when the "jeans get a little tight"

Next is Month 6 which was all about the baby bump and some food craving. So I added an additional flip flap to capture these.

They wanted to celebrate the baby showers in her Month 7. I made this page full of lively colours as requested and the space to add 6 pics too.

Month 8 is so close to every Mommies heart when you are just days away celebrating the labour of love. the little baby closet hides cute message tags which are kept from the baby shower day.

Finally Month 9 and its time! Thinking baby names.....wait is it gonna be a boy or a girl?

The last page carried the baby's pic and more journaling tags. I added a lil baby album on the right as well :)

Mermaid Theme Party Invites!

Ola Crafters!

Am back with another recent project I have worked on. The client wanted mermaid theme cards and she was keen that i make a something similar to what she had seen online by another crafter as seen here. So i do not take the credit of the originality of the idea :) but i still had to work on the design right from scratch in my software to get a shell shape and trust me it wasn't easy for me :P.

So let me first show you what I came up with...

I had to work on alot of ideas to get the right look and feel for the shell as i didnt have any texture papers. I also made it curve in a way to look more realistic :) Lots of blue shades were inked to make it look pretty. The Ariel image was picked from dear google too

When you open the shell you get pearl! Lol! Not literally but yes you definitely get invite to a fun party!

And a Final shot i could get. Would you believe i took these pics in just 2 minutes before handing them over? Hence the poor shots.

Exploding Box Card - Birthday
