<p>This collection is shipping to stores now! (October 2025). </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/DSC09574-2-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5125" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/DSC09574-2-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/DSC09574-2-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></figure>

<p>A few fun and exciting quilty things:</p>

<ol><li>I&#8217;ve teamed up with Lecien Cosmo to create a custom French Market embroidery thread pack so be on the lookout for that at your local quilt shop. You can see pretty pics of Cosmo&#8217;s threads in the gallery, below. I&#8217;ve also put together four other thread packs with different themes titled Victorian Holiday (Christmas colors!), Practical Magic (Fall/Halloween), Secret garden (think flowers and peonies) and Highlands (inspired from a recent trip to the Scottish Highlands!). </li><li>I&#8217;ve got a free French Market pattern for you! Find it <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/french-market-marche-aux-fleurs-table-runner-free-pattern/">here</a></li><li>If you&#8217;re a shop owner or would like to see all the pretty French Market photos, head over to <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/fabric/french-market/">Maywood Studio</a>!</li></ol>

<p>If you&#8217;re a shop owner selling French Market, you&#8217;re welcome to use any of my photos. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p>This is a short and sweet post to share my latest fabric collection called Birdsong, for Maywood Studio. I am so excited to share this with you!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08132-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5070" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08132-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08132-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></figure>

<p>Birdsong uses a classic color combination that reflects what we are drawn to in nature. The delicate pinks of flowers and soft greens of leaves combine to create a beautiful tapestry for the fluttering birds in this refined collection. Delicate stripes and floral geos bring contrast to the flowing vegetation of the focal prints.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08316-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5077" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08316-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08316-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08096-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5072" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08096-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08096-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08099-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5073" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08099-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/DSC08099-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></figure>

<p>A couple online shops that carry Birdsong are <a href="https://www.shabbyfabrics.com/c6849/fabrics/fabrics-by-collection/birdsong-fabric-and-precuts-maywood">Shabby Fabrics</a> and <a href="https://www.fatquartershop.com/maywood-studios/birdsong-jera-brandvig-maywood-studio">Fat Quarter Shop</a>. Grab a bundle while you can, because it will only print once. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> </p>

<p>I post far and few between these days, but I couldn&#8217;t pass up sharing my very first Halloween collection called Web of Roses! This collection is in stores now! </p>

<p>This is a romantic Halloween collection with metallic details in the webs and gothic roses. Fall is just around the corner. Who is ready for some Halloween crafting?!</p>

<p>I love <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/fabric/web-of-roses.html">Maywood Studio&#8217;s</a> description:</p>

<p><em>Antique lace, eerie bouquets, and delicate spiders spin a romantic Web of Roses. Gossamer border stripes and haunted blenders weave mysterious tales in Jera Brandvigs’ latest collection. The vivid vintage florals and intricate spiderweb prints are laced with metallic highlights, perfect for an elegant quilt with a hint of Halloween. Don’t be afraid to use this collection – we are dying to see what you make!</em></p>

<p>As always, with any new collection I love to gift my followers with a <strong>free pattern</strong>. Keep scrolling below for a link to the PDF pattern. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/D21E2E94-F609-47F0-98ED-376862A443C3-1100x853.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5028" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/D21E2E94-F609-47F0-98ED-376862A443C3-1100x853.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/D21E2E94-F609-47F0-98ED-376862A443C3-800x621.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/D21E2E94-F609-47F0-98ED-376862A443C3.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /><figcaption>Web of Roses by Jera Brandvig for Maywood Studio</figcaption></figure>

<p>My boys (now 7 and 10 yrs old) and I absolutely LOVE decorating for Halloween, so this holiday holds a special place in my heart full of fun memories. Currently we have a trio of witch animatronics that we set out each year, and that&#8217;s only the tip of the iceberg!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/DSC07503-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-5029" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/DSC07503-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/DSC07503-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /><figcaption>Web of Roses by Jera Brandvig for Maywood Studio</figcaption></figure>

<p>I made a lovely, snuggly, Web of Roses quilt using my fabrics! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> </p>

<p>And as promised, I put together a pattern for you all! To download a printer friendly PDF pattern, simply click the following link. </p>

<p>The Fat Quarter Shop carries this collection as well as some other online shops. With a quick google search, I found this <strong>quilt kit</strong> available on Etsy <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1267097219/web-of-roses-quilt-kit-jera-brandvig-for?click_key=d79644e31a2406032980a73aeab329e5aced85c7%3A1267097219&amp;click_sum=ac2f323a&amp;external=1&amp;rec_type=cs&amp;ref=pla_similar_listing_top-5&amp;frs=1">here</a> and <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/1238339703/web-of-roses-quilt-kit-jera-brandvig-for?gpla=1&amp;gao=1&amp;&amp;utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=shopping_us_ps-a-craft_supplies_and_tools-fabric_and_notions-fabric&amp;utm_custom1=_k_Cj0KCQjwjbyYBhCdARIsAArC6LK9yrlTifXbwg0tBDSk8qeY4-qTG2ITUnYgg4YNzVPjoPEm82f4HioaAiOPEALw_wcB_k_&amp;utm_content=go_12565278184_123210950607_507187537623_pla-295916403786_c__1238339703_131937055&amp;utm_custom2=12565278184&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjwjbyYBhCdARIsAArC6LK9yrlTifXbwg0tBDSk8qeY4-qTG2ITUnYgg4YNzVPjoPEm82f4HioaAiOPEALw_wcB">here</a>, to name a few. </p>

<p>Tah-dah! My oldest son is now tall enough to hold my quilts without standing on the couch. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p>I got this quilted by David &#8211; my go-to long arm quilter these days. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> He always does a wonderful and fast job! <a href="https://quiltingbydavid.com/">https://quiltingbydavid.com/</a></p>

<p>He has hundreds of patterns to choose from but his <a href="https://quiltingbydavid.com/?s=spider&amp;post_type=product">spiders</a> quilt pattern was perfect!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-734x1100.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4932" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 734px) 100vw, 734px" /></figure>

<p>As a quilt author, this sort of thing has always been a fear that&#8217;s loomed over my shoulder. But this just goes to show that no matter how many eyes reviewed this book, accidents can happen. We are only human and need to give ourselves grace. And when bummer things like this happen, we can own up! Funny how this applies not only to this specific situation, but to life in general. </p>

<p>But of course it&#8217;s always easier said than done. When I realized this correction needed to be made, my stomach felt like it dropped to the floor and I commenced a slow curl into fetal position.</p>

<p><em><strong>My sincere apologies for this correction</strong></em>. I am posting it here, and every social media platform I have, and it will also be available on C&amp;T Publishing&#8217;s website shortly. </p>

<p>Love to you all!<br></p>

<p>It&#8217;s been too long since I made a quilt! And when I finally make one, I do it in a weekend! I guess that&#8217;s how I roll. </p>

<p>I am excited that Summer is coming to an end as Autumn is my absolute favorite season, hands down. Over Labor Day weekend we stayed in a cabin in Mazama, WA (North Cascades) and I packed my sewing machine and supplies to make this quick quilt! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07248-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4959" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07248-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07248-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /><figcaption>Early morning quilting <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></figcaption></figure>

<p>I specifically chose a simple 9-patch block pattern so I could easily stop and go and set aside my stuff when needed. After cutting all my squares, I chain pieced them all together and before I knew it, I had all my blocks ready to assemble!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07246-1100x733.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4960" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07246-1100x733.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/DSC07246-800x533.jpg 800w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /><figcaption>All my blocks laid out!</figcaption></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-11-at-9.45.33-AM-980x1100.png" alt="" class="wp-image-4992" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-11-at-9.45.33-AM-980x1100.png 980w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-11-at-9.45.33-AM-800x898.png 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screen-Shot-2021-09-11-at-9.45.33-AM.png 1372w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /><figcaption>Bruno was testing out the quilt early. I think he approves? <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></figcaption></figure>

<p>The fabrics are a scrappy mix of various fat quarters that i&#8217;ve bought over the years. I can&#8217;t tell you the exact names of them all since they don&#8217;t all have their selveges, but a lot are by Kim Diehl&#8217;s Welcome Wagon collection, Ladie&#8217;s Album by Barbara Brackman and I believe the border is by Blackbird Designs. Most are from a little quilt shop in Poulsbo, WA which sadly is no longer around. And all the orange and black colors are from one of my favorite quilt shops called 3 Bears Quilt Shop in Winthrop, WA. </p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a few more pictures I took. I was planning to quilt it myself (nope &#8211; didn&#8217;t use QAYG for this one!) but I&#8217;m tempted to take it to a long arm for them to quilt little ghosts or pumpkins on it. I&#8217;ll have to share the finished quilt. </p>

It&#8217;s a historical fiction novel about the American witch hunt trials. It&#8217;s dark, horrifying and sets the mood! I recommend it if you&#8217;re into that kind of read. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></figcaption></figure>

<p>Anyway, that&#8217;s it for now. Just wanted to share what i&#8217;ve been up to. <p>I am so excited to introduce to you all my new book called <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/1644030233#customerReviews">Quit As-You-go Made Clever</a>! I have been quietly working on this for the past 2 years, so it&#8217;s so refreshing to <em>finally</em> be able to share it with you all!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418D.jpg"><img class="alignnone wp-image-4931" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418D-800x1000.jpg" alt="" width="535" height="697" /></a></p>
<p>This book is extra special because I styled and photographed the majority of the projects &#8211; I even photographed the book cover on my  dining room table, lol! I still recall the weekend one summer when my husband took our kids camping so that I could have the house to myself. I spent that entire weekend photographing this book, from morning until the sun went down!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4932" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4001.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve followed me, you may be aware of my two other books called <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Quilt-As-You-Go-Made-Modern-Techniques/dp/1607059010/ref=pd_bxgy_img_1/142-7452123-2668746?pd_rd_w=A2fI4&amp;pf_rd_p=c64372fa-c41c-422e-990d-9e034f73989b&amp;pf_rd_r=JPSNTV7KSWNAFGE0ZDYK&amp;pd_rd_r=fbc9aeb4-ac27-4fdc-90a4-decc5a257be7&amp;pd_rd_wg=KNWfQ&amp;pd_rd_i=1607059010&amp;psc=1">Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern</a> and <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Quilt-As-You-Go-Made-Vintage-Projects/dp/1617454729/ref=pd_bxgy_img_1/142-7452123-2668746?pd_rd_w=uigaP&amp;pf_rd_p=c64372fa-c41c-422e-990d-9e034f73989b&amp;pf_rd_r=HAWNE6RKND7VP0P90PHW&amp;pd_rd_r=ed92b70e-13a3-4ef2-881f-8c3ae0defe23&amp;pd_rd_wg=iT42O&amp;pd_rd_i=1617454729&amp;psc=1">Quilt As-You-Go Made Vintage</a>. This is a follow up to both and completes the trilogy as I am not one to drag things out. I try to jam pack my books with new techniques/tips and inspiration for you all so that my readers get fulfilling and novel content. I truly feel this third book completes everything you need to know about the quilt as-you-go (QAYG) technique and helps you take it a step further with creative ideas that you may have not realized are a form of QAYG.</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4019.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4934" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4019-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4019-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4019-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4019.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>The projects in this book are smaller with the option to go bigger once you&#8217;re comfortable. I&#8217;ve always been a fan of smaller quilts, so i&#8217;ve also included an entire chapter on how to display your minis in your home.<a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4006.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4933" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4006-800x534.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="534" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4006-800x534.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4006-1100x734.jpg 1100w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/11418_SET_4006.jpg 1234w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>And a wonderful thing about this book (along with my other two books) is it&#8217;s beginner friendly with lots of how-to images to help walk you through each project. I always make it a point to be crystal clear, because I know how daunting a project can seem as soon as something doesn&#8217;t click or make sense right away. I try to avoid that in all my books, with crystal clear instructions and tips along the way. While a beginner could do these projects, it&#8217;s also great for a seasoned quilter with creative and new techniques!</p>
<p>As always, I want my books to show how fun quilting is! It doesn&#8217;t have to be a daunting hobby all about precision and following things to a T. There&#8217;s so much creativity to be had &#8211; and you&#8217;ll really see that shine through in my first book, <em>Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern</em>, with improvisational quilting as you go. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4004.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4944" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4004-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4004-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4004-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4004.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p><strong><em>Fun fact:</em> </strong>I named each quilt in this book after places near and dear to me in Washington state. At the beginning of each chapter I have a little blurb about the quilt name. So if you&#8217;re from around the Pacific Northwest you may recognize some of the places!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4009_1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4945" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4009_1-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4009_1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4009_1-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4009_1.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>You can find my book in stores including <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/1644030233#customerReviews">Amazon</a>, <a href="https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/quilt-as-you-go-made-clever-jera-brandvig/1137997758">Barnes and Noble</a>, Target an so forth. But of course please be sure to check you local quilt shop first.</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4025.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4947" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4025-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4025-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4025-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4025.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>My heart goes out to all my QAYG readers that have supported my books since my very first. I say this every time but it&#8217;s so true &#8211; my books would not have been possible without your readership! So with that, I want to thank you all&#8230;a true, heartfelt <em><strong>t</strong><strong>hank you</strong></em>!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4008.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4946" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4008-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4008-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4008-734x1100.jpg 734w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/11418_SET_4008.jpg 823w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been posting less frequently because i&#8217;ve returned to work full time, but I do post often(<em>ish</em>) on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/quiltingintherain/?hl=en">Instagram</a> (@QuiltingintheRain) so be sure to follow me there for the latest. Also, I am still designing fabric and i&#8217;ve actually just wrapped up my latest collection for <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/designers/jera-brandvig">Maywood Studio </a>which will debut at quilt market <strong><em>this</em></strong> October! That&#8217;s next month &#8211; eep! That came up quick. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I cannot wait to share it with you all!</p>
<p>For now, happy quilting! I hope you enjoy my new book. So much love to you all!</p>

<p>Hello All! I am <em>sorry</em> it&#8217;s been so very long since my last post (9-ish months, <em>eep</em>!). Life did its thing and got busy. A lot of big changes happened since I last wrote. My youngest son went to kindergarten and Lecien Fabrics (the studio I designed my first 5 collections for) abruptly closed! With that I decided to go back to work doing clinical research full time &#8211; it was a scary thing to do after having been a stay-at-home mom for the past 7 years designing fabric and writing books on the side. But at the time it was the best choice moving forward my family and I.</p>
<p>Of course when I did that, the pandemic lock down went into effect so my husband and I plus our two kids (kindergarten and 3rd grade) have all been working from home and schooling from home. And somewhere in between the mix, I finished up my 3rd book and came out with this new fabric collection (which I cannot wait to share with you all!). I am now proudly designing for <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/">Maywood Studio</a> which has been a wonderful fit for me and has allowed me to continue designing fabric on the side.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve had to adapt to a lot of changes last year.  Hopefully in this new year we can start settling in and getting the swing of things! Or at least take a breather! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p>With that quick update, I am so excited to introduce to you all my first collection for Maywood Studio called Sweet Beginnings. You can see all the swatches and precuts <em>and</em> quilt kits that will be available from <a href="https://maywoodstudio.com/fabric/sweet-beginnings/show/204.html">Maywood Studio&#8217;s website</a>!</p>
<p>Aptly named after the crazy year we&#8217;ve all had, I hope this new collection will bring forth Sweet Beginnings for all. This will be available in shops Spring 2021, so be sure to mention it to your favorite quilt shop so they can order it!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07007.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4790" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07007-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07007-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07007-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>I happily made this mini quilt using sample fabrics that Maywood shipped to me last week. Since the sample materials were small I decided to make this mini quilt. The pattern is called &#8220;Walk &#8211; Don&#8217;t Run&#8221; from the book <em>101 Fabulous Small Quilts. </em>It was a breath of fresh air getting to sew with this cheery and bright collection in the middle on Winter!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06904.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4781" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06904-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06904-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06904-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>Shades of the past in pink and green give a vintage and romantic feel. Painted florals balance the dainty geometric dots and classic gingham checks, while the ribbon and rose border stripe ties it all together.</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06973.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4785" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06973-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06973-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06973-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>The floral/lace in the center (below) will make a perfect border for a quilt.</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06911.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4783" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06911-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06911-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC06911-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>This is a quilt kit that will be available through Maywood Studio for shops to order &#8211; isn&#8217;t it dreamy?</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screen-Shot-2021-02-15-at-11.24.13-AM.png"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4799" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screen-Shot-2021-02-15-at-11.24.13-AM-800x792.png" alt="" width="800" height="792" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screen-Shot-2021-02-15-at-11.24.13-AM-800x792.png 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screen-Shot-2021-02-15-at-11.24.13-AM.png 824w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07023.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4793" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07023-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07023-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/DSC07023-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>And now for the plethora of fabric photos I always share with my every collection&#8230; <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Enjoy!</p>

<p>Here are some  close-ups of the quilt. Madame Fleur fabrics is my 5th fabric collection which features a rich and warm color pallet. The perfect colors to make a quilt that you can cozy up to!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC03880-e1591554524847.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4731" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC03880-e1591554524847-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC03880-e1591554524847-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC03880-e1591554524847-733x1100.jpg 733w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>This is a simple pattern that comes together fairly quick. It was quilted by my friend Charlene over at <a href="https://www.thecottonfarm.com/long-arm-services.htm">The Cotton Farm</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC04086.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4726" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC04086-800x533.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="533" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC04086-800x533.jpg 800w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/DSC04086-1100x733.jpg 1100w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>Notice the gold metallic highlights in some of the prints. One of my favorite details! If you make this quilt, please be sure to share it with me on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/quiltingintherain/">instagram @QuiltingintheRain </a>as i&#8217;d love to see it!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Madame-Fleur.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4689" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Madame-Fleur-682x1024.jpg" alt="" width="682" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Madame-Fleur-682x1024.jpg 682w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Madame-Fleur.jpg 733w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></a></p>
<p>Hope you&#8217;re all doing well! And in case you missed it, I shared another quilt on <a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/2020/04/madame-fleur-quilt-pattern-and-fabrics.html">my last post</a>. Be sure to check it out!</p>

<p>Thank you all for stopping by my blog! <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I&#8217;ve been posting my latest on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/quiltingintherain/?hl=en">instagram</a>, so please  follow me there to stay up to date.</p>
<p><strong>If you made it this far, I have some quick news:</strong></p>
<p>Madame Fleur is my last collection for Lecien Fabrics. I&#8217;ve done a total of 5 collections for them these past 5 years. However, I will be designing for a new company&#8230;I already have a lovely collection in the works. This information will be announced soon-ish! I have to wait for them to give me the thumbs up first!</p>
<p>And yes, my 3rd QAYG book is well on it&#8217;s way <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>
<p>In addition, i&#8217;ve gone back to work full-time! You&#8217;re probably thinking i&#8217;m crazy, but I felt ready and it was a good decision for me and my family.</p>
<p>My boys are big now and my littlest will be in kindergarten this Fall. Like I said, I felt ready whereas a year ago I was not! Things change and i&#8217;m constantly evaluating what works and what needs to change, what&#8217;s best for my family, etc.  I&#8217;ve always been inspired to have a job that serves an important purpose &#8211; if I&#8217;m going to be working 40 hours a week, it needs to be meaningful to me. The field i&#8217;m in is for clinical research to help find ways to eliminate suffering in cancer patients (specifically, brain and breast cancer).</p>
<p>I&#8217;m honored to be able to play a role in this, even if it&#8217;s a small role (i&#8217;m the person that helps makes sure all the regulatory documentation is in place for a clinical study to happen safely for the patients, among other things). <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/11.2.0/72x72/1f642.png" alt="🙂" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I of course went back to work amidst this whole pandemic so i&#8217;ve been working with both of my boys at home&#8230;timing is everything, right?  haha!</p>
<p><a href="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DSC05593-e1587836630841.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-4694" src="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DSC05593-e1587836630841-683x1024.jpg" alt="" width="683" height="1024" srcset="https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DSC05593-e1587836630841-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://quiltingintherain.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/DSC05593-e1587836630841-733x1100.jpg 733w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></a></p>
<p>Anyway, thanks for reading me and i hope you enjoy the pattern. Check back soon for the 2nd free pattern. Virtual hugs to you all and stay safe!</p>
