Africa: The only Continent that embraced Bisexualism.

Towards the end of 1990s, there was an alleged gay wedding in a small barber shop in Wandegeya. If I recall well, it was around 1998. Many media houses published the event and it took only a short time for the President of Uganda to react. He ordered his tigers to go out in Wandegeya Township to find these so called 'faggots' and lock them up.

I was a hawker by then and I knew nothing about sexuality. I was not in anyway an activist and never thought of it. I must say that at this time, I was homophobic. I had never met a gay person in my life, but I hated them so deeply, just as the President did. My hatred towards GLBT people have got its roots in my religious background, but not because I really knew what it meant to be gay.

The publication of this event in Wandegeya forced me to go out there and read extensively about what it means to be gay. My research proved that people do not learn to be gay and that they had no choice about it. It affirmed that some people are born that way and you can do nothing to change them. And that homosexualism is not a habit. The word gay itself had less meaning to me. I must add that ignorance really fueled my hate towards a group of people I knew nothing about, just like most of you.

The publication of this wedding kept on going and much hatred was out there. I wrote to the Daily Monitor newspaper. I do need to check my archives to know the date which my letter was published. One thing I must note is that by this time I saw no need to keep records, today I need to recall this email but I cannot see it. This is a lesson well learnt.

In that simple email that I wrote, I asked the President (he was out of the country earlier when activists in UK forced him to comment about his remarks towards the gay wedding), He replied that “there were no gays in Uganda”. So in my email, I asked the President, if you claimed that there are no gays in Uganda, what about the group called Homoactive Uganda? Actually, there was no such group at the time, but it was just an attempt to see the reaction of both the political arena and from the communities. I knew so little that people read letters published in news.

I was overwhelmed by the replies I got. A big number of them were hard-hitting on me for responding to the President and who was I to respond to him? In their view, no one could respond to the President’s remarks. He was final and fountain of honour in the land. Other emails were calling me a hero. Some emails called demeaning names and others were asking me directions to where homo active group located or met. But there was one man, Chris, who wrote to me and requested to meet me. I agreed, not knowing what exactly the person willing to meet me would discuss, this brought in some fears but I had already decided to go. I wrote the email to the Daily Monitor NOT because I was gay; I simply wanted to see the reaction. And I met so many people in person which encouraged me to push for more freedoms, indeed some of them were homosexuals themselves although I have lost contact for over 90% of these people.

We discussed equality and human rights issues for GLBT people with Chris and how best we can address the problem. In the following week, I met several pro-GLBT equality Government officials in their office, I was surprised to note this yet on the streets of Kampala, homophobia was blazing like wild fires. I recall one official pulled out a brand new book that am struggling to recall its author and title, it was about sexuality and he had destroyed the first pages of the book to be on a safe side just incase his boss get notice of it. This guy was kind and simple, Yes he was gay I think. (He never told me about his sexuality). I lost contact with him too; he contributed deeply to the equality struggle despite of him being in the closet.

Another official at Kampala Club pulled out two books of Bishop John Shelby Spong titled “Living in sin? A bishop rethinks Human sexuality”. This is a must read book for all religious folks. This is the book that ended my homophobia. It’s a great book for all who want to know about views on human sexuality written by a churchman.

Chris is in Uganda and I met him few weeks ago after almost 12 years. Meeting him in 2001 was the beginning of what you now know as the GLBT movement in Uganda, although many people try to bury it and they have taken credit for defending GLBT rights other than me, my work will always exist--be it documented or not. The celebration of any small achievement by GLBT rights activist is a collective responsibility of so many silent heroes and heroines that we must always recognise their role.

The journey is too detailed for the purposes of this article. Nonetheless, I wanted to briefly address the issue of homophobia in Africa. Of all continents, Africa is the only place where sex is natural and its essential significance. There was no homophobia before colonialists. And the only normal way of having natural sex in Africa was being bisexual. In Africa, many people had sex anywhere by anyone any time. And it was ok. Africans could have sex by both women and men and this makes the Africa the only sexually active bisexual continent. Bisexuality has existed in Africa since time immemorial.

To understand my opinion, you would need to talk to the foreign gays in Uganda. Talking to them will reveal so much more than what you may expect. I have been talking with Heaviside (not real name), a gay friend from Europe. He had lived in Uganda for over ten years and he told me he had got more sexual advances and enjoyment from married and straight people in Uganda. The men who are having sex with him are men and married, If a bigger percentage of Africans are bisexuals, then why the hatred towards gays? For this question, Heaviside has got an answer from his own observations.

Heaviside says that real straight men cannot be threatened by gays. It’s only bisexuals that are under threat. In Africa, people used to have sex with anybody in secrecy and there was no tags like gay, lesbian or bisexual. These tags were introduced by colonialists and religions. The introduction of these tags founded the threat towards the natural way of enjoying sex yet the inhabitants of Africans, wanted to keep their great sexual adventures under cover, and this can be proved by Heaviside who is facing so many homophobic people during day and evening, these are the very same people he do have sex with. From his point of view, a bigger percentage of people in Africa enjoy natural sexual adventurism and that’s bisexualism although he admits that there are those who are 100% gays and 100% heterosexuals and not attracted to bisexualism.

Heaviside noted that, as a result of white male obsession in Uganda by Ugandans, many women are coming to him, and when he tells them that he loves Dick so deeply, they got to note that he is gay, for them being gay is all about anal sex, so some women had told him how they will walk an extra mile and offer what he wants most (according to them, that’s anal sex) and one beautiful lady asked him if he could bring out her brother for him. Whom she had no idea about his sexuality.

This is now puzzling; can we say these men and women were bisexuals? Or they saw Heaviside as a walking ATM machine that could bail them out of poverty? Should we think that Africans would put homophobic views aside when it comes for money especially when it's night time? The answer is yes.

Religions are the cause of all the hatred and hate speech against GLBT people in Africa. There were no tags on sexuality in Africa before the coming of colonialists and religious groups. Indeed there are countries in Africa that didn’t have any legislation against homosexuality. Take an example of Rwanda, up to now, its laws are silent when it comes to homosexuality. Why don’t Africans return to their natural understanding sexuality and end homophobia? After all, the colonial masters left 50 years ago and they made an extra-ordinary move on arrival to their respective countries. Some countries have legalised same-sex marriage, others are still struggling with this issue. But at least no First World country arrests and imprisons GLBT people.

However, the anti-gay religious bigots of those countries have come to Africa to foster hatred that cannot be done in more enlightened countries. You can always count on religions to perpetuate hate, violence, social and political oppression.

In 1996, I was still a street child wandering on the streets of Mityana Township like a stray dog. I had no one who loved me, life was very rough and no hope of ever making it in life. I ate from dustbins and nothing I could do by then to jump out of that horrible life.

As time went on, I found my way into the hands of someone one I have lost contact now for almost 20 years. He was called Kigozi. He was working as a turn-boy on a lorries of Mityana businessmen. He was a very kind guy in his 20s who just started his life after years of struggling with life himself. He embraced me with his own arms and took me in his house that he had just rented on the out-skirts of Mityana just like a week earlier. He didn’t have a mattress, he had just a mat and a small grey blanket like that one, that your mum used to cover you when you were just five years. He had a basin for bathing and a 20 litre jerrycan for drawing water from a distance of almost 10 kilometres from that well which was based in the deep valley of Kigoogwa. There was also food and a charcoal stove.

The neighbourhood loved him because every time he went for safaris, he could come back with bunches of matooke, sweet potatoes and he sold this food for a cheaper price compared to the one in the market and this earned him respect within the community.

My first day in Kigozi’s house was warm. It felt livable to bath with a smooth, nice-smelling soap in clean water. I slept soundly and it’s still memorable as if it happened yesterday. In the morning as he was about to leave for work, he woke me up and introduced me to the neighbourhood as his brother. Kigozi was renting a mizigo (single rooms very common in slums of cities in developing centres and sometimes they could accommodate up to 20 or more families). Thus Kigozi was renting on a home that had a string of families that accommodated more than 40 families, all of them from various background. Some were educated and others were not, some came from good families and others not, some had wives and children and others didn’t.

There was electricity too, and this was my first time to sleep in a room with electricity. Kigozi had just inserted a 100-watt bulb and it used to consume much power. I do not know why I did this, but I could sometimes leave that bulb on all day long and it took just few days of doing it when our neighbors noticed and warned me about it, but I unintentionally did it over and over, something that put us on loggerheads within the community. Up to now, I do not know why I always forgot to switch off that bulb, but it forced me to face the music on a daily basis.

After a week at Kigozi’s home, he bought a huge six by six ft mattress. Royal foam brand. I couldn’t imagine how big it was. For the first time, I slept on a mattress. It was warm and soft. In the morning, it felt like I did sleep in heaven, and I started envisioning a brighter future.

Everything was improving so rapidly. I started earning money by collecting water for the neighbourhood who knew me as Kigozi’s brother. I sold each 20 litre jerrycan of water at 150 UGX and I could collect 30 jerricans a day. Indeed life was sweatie and nothing could stop me from hitting the greater dreams that I had started envisioning.

I came to know many businessmen and women through Kigozi. He introduced me as a brother to almost to everybody he knew would matter to us one day or another. They loved him and they extended that warmth to me too.

Among the many people I met, there was a 60+ year old lady called Ms Mangarita Sserunkuma. She was beautiful and warm and indeed, she lived a happy life. She was educated and had a good life from childhood until the time I met her. From my observations, it was like she lived all her dreams, She conceived 8 children who all died of AIDS/HIV earlier and this was the only thing that brought sorrow in her life. She was so kind and loving. Her late children left a number of offspring that inspired her to start what we now know as Mityana Orphanage Centre on Namukozi Road, a few metres from Mityana Cathedral.

One of her sons left a stationery shop in the Township and a home in Butega. Mangarita took possession of the shop to be able to support the offspring of her departed son. I befriended her and she welcomed me with open arms. Soon she started giving me casual jobs and employing me as a messenger between her stationery shop and orphanage centre. I became part of her workforce although I wasn’t a salaried employ. Each day, my friendship with her grew and grew strong, in that she introduced me to the house in Butega left by her son. I moved into that house to provide security and also take charge of the gardens. After my daily work in Butega, I could walk that 15 kilometres from Butega to the township of Mityana where I usually ate lunch with Mangarita. With time, after years of working in Mityana and have not earned any of the dreams I had, I chose to swift to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. I had worked harder in Mityana but life is just that, nothing was really being added on my life apart from living from hand to mouth.

After almost ten years in Kampala, I learnt that Mangarita died in 2010. I felt sad for not having attended her funeral. But that’s life. On 1st May 2012, as I slept, Mangarita came to my vision, I hate calling it a dream but I was half asleep I think. I started talking to her. She was lively as she used to be. We talked about so much more and ended up talking about her son’s property in Butega. In the vision, she was telling me how she has the land title and that she will be happy to sell the property to me. She was warm while talking to me, it was so close to being real. I jumped out of sleep and started asking myself how could this be? Why am I envisioning her in my sleep? What must have initiated this after years of not being close to that property? Why should I even think about this property yet cannot even buy it?

After so many questions, I started searching for answers why, of all people, I envisioned Mangarita. The real answer is that am struggling with accommodation now that my brains downplayed all the days I used to enjoy free housing and this became the source of that vision. My brains thought of good life in free housing.

Does this point us to what could have been with John who is being claimed to have written the book of Revelation? John must have been struggling with life and wanted to escape the challenges. And since he was promised the good things in heaven, every time of the difficulties in life, he envision free good life instead of focusing on solving the real challenges through logical thinking and hard work.

These kinds of visions are very common with religious folks who want free ride in life and fear to face reality. When they go to bed, they end up putting the challenges of the day and focus on imaginations that they reveal to their friends as visions and how their god was talking to them revealing so much more to them than what their reasoning capacity can handle. Instead of waiting for the promise of Heaven, religious people strive to cheat and enslave others so that they can get rich and enjoy this promised Heaven on earth. In other words: unregulated capitalism vs socialism.

The fact that Mangarita (who used to accommodate me for free) came in my minds after years of being with no connection proves how tired am getting with struggle and now I just want anything to happen out of nothing--call them (miracles). When we look closely at people with these religious visions, we would be surprised to know how deeply they are struggling, with their lives full of wishful thinking that cannot solve any problem in reality.

I saw Mangarita standing up to go and bring the title of the property to me, and when I woke up, she wasn’t there. I immediately started exploring all my brain corners, why have I visioned her? I have lost so many of my great friends to early death, but why are they not coming in my visions as I sleep? The answer is, they were poor like me by the time they died, so no way they could have influenced my life. That’s why my brains cannot flashback to them during the tough times.

Africa, the only continent where children becomes ATM machines automatically.

We have talked so much on the issues of marriage and its purpose, Overpopulation, abortion, Street Children, infant mortality, religious roles in our societies, Homosexual rights and freedoms. Am sure every one of us has divergent opinions on the above mentioned issues. Am passionate about them all and I have at one point addressed them on this blog, my face book page or through main stream media houses. I have also participated in live debates about the mentioned issues. I must proudly say, that despite of all the great isolation am facing from my family, society and community where I live, I am not going to bow down on religious manipulation, blackmail and intimidation. My enemies also branded me as gay but that’s still fine provided anyone doesn’t intentionally try to end my life violently.

Am about to hit the middle of my lifespan and I have no children. Am not married either. Several people, are asking me many questions about why am not married, why I have no kids. Some people even go ahead and advise me that, even if am not married, it should be advisable to have at least a kid. It’s true there are worries expressed in the voices of these people while talking to me. Old and young, women and men, girls and boys all try to tell me to have a kid even if am not married. But WHY?

What is it that they fear? Ask no more, these people are superstitious and their brains are infected by God viruses that incapacitated them to reason. Some people have told me that they are creating children because they were too created by somebody, so they must procreate. Others do create kids because it’s their religious call to create children. Religions need more people to manipulate and exploit. That’s nice to note but do our world need over-populated Nations today with slums overtaking our city neighborhoods? Do we really need more people when what used to be protected wetlands and forests are rapidly disappearing?

Long ago and throughout several centuries to year 2000, Africa had deadly challenges from poverty, famine, slavery, wars and diseases like malaria, measles, and whooping cough, Tetanus, names it all. Until year 2000, Africa remained the only place where most diseases get their start in life. The continent acted as a kind of development academy for virulent infections. They used to practice wiping out entire community before venturing out to the rest of the World. Even old favorites like anthrax and smallpox eradicated everywhere else in the World but kept coming back and claim lives in African Nations.

Most of the above deadly disease targeted children. There were no vaccinations and healthy facilities to treat them. This laid a foundation for African families to create more children with hope that if one deadly disease strikes a family, it will claim some children and some will remain. Families used to send these children on battles, with hope that some will be killed in the war and some will remain. In others ways, Children were seen as the source of wealthy and strong families. This kind of nonsense fueled families to expand and grow bigger up to between 20 children to 100 or more.

Thankfully, we now have vaccinations and Children are no longer dying like they used too, but the fertility rate remains high across Africa, resulting in overpopulation. Hence, we are seeing more street children on our cities than ever before and they surely need our support. Instead of us creating our own kids, we should adopt them and give them a good and healthy home. We also have new emerging technologies that can be used to fight any war without sending human resource to battle frontlines of any conflict.

Uganda and African continent in general are already suffering from poverty, with malnourished children across its borders. We need to achieve population stability as soon as possible. We must all stand up and request Governments of Africa to enact population stabilisation policies that will limit families to create not more than 4 children per family unit. We must encourage our scientists to develop men’s reproductive pills. So that when one does not need a kid, he takes a pill to take a day.

As recently as two decades there was land for families to cultivate; today we have homeless people with no hope of ever owning even a smallest particle of land. There are an estimated 100 million children living in the streets in the world today. Who will be responsible for them if we all procreate?

People in Africa are superstitious and they connected this to their children too. When a man of my age died without creating a kid, his body wasn’t allowed to pass through the main door of his or family house, instead they formed a hole behind the house walls and made the childless body go through that hole and on to the graveyard. This action created fear in younger men and women, as a result, they felt like creating kids was a role they must accomplish to be appreciated and respected by society.

Childless people were treated as curses to both family and clans and their last funeral rites where not allowed to be celebrated according to normal customs and beliefs. Even today, this is still very common in African communities from Cape Town to Cairo and from Mombasa to Accra Ghana. That’s why everybody is worried about my not having children. They fear that no one will inherit me and that my body will be inhumanly treated if I happen to die without a kid of my own. To make things worse, if I happen to run for any public office now, no one will vote me.

All these fears in people made me ask myself the purpose of creating kids. In today's state of overpopulation, is it even moral to have a child? I have asked these questions of a number of people and a good number of them fear mostly three factors. No one will inherit my property if I have no kids; my property will be taken by other family and clan members. No one will care for me when am ageing and most importantly, they fear for their bodies to be mistreated after death. But do these ideas justify a family creating more than two children? Do these fears give a green light for a man to create ten kids and marry more than one woman?

I think its being myopic to think that when you create several kids, you have insured your old age security and that these children will take care of you. I know many families that created a good number of kids 30+ Children and now they live in destitution. Creating many children and you fail to provide good education and health won’t turn them into ATM machines for their parents when they grow up. Instead they will be a burden to a Nation which cannot even manage on its own budget. I agree that, children can be your security, but that happens only when you have invested in them as well.

I lose nothing if I die and a stranger take possession of whatever I have, and surely I gain nothing if my biological child inherits me and take possession of whatever I have. I lose nothing if people create a hole in my house wall and pass my dead body through. -- I will be dead. I will not know that. And even if I get to know it, it doesn’t create any impact on me be it positive or negative. Just stop demanding me to create children. Am contented with life exclusive of children and this is not something that can create sleepless nights for me.

Religious People must reconsider facts of the books they believe in and entrust to be God’s words.

Hey friends, am back on blogging. Surely face book dominated the
internet and somehow made it harder to write a blog post. I missed you
and I missed my blog. I hope this time I will last longer. Enjoy
reading my new posts.

On Apr 04, 2012, the New Vision published this story and all us saw it
on TV. My problem is not what the Catholic Church did, even though I
have a strong desire to criticise the action itself. My real problem is
the feedback from communities nationwide and the media. The message on
the streets of Kampala and in the most media print was that “the
heart,body,kidney and brains” of the dead people were still warm and
active after 26 years in graveyard. Honestly speaking, this story
didn’t override me and I didn’t take much time thinking about it for I
know how superstition people are in Uganda.

As a result, the Catholic Church, came up immediately to warn the
public and the media about uttering anything they have no clue and
knowledge about. He repeated the same message that “parts of the body
were intact yet dry” .This means, the bodies were NOT warm and not
ACTIVE.

Today we are seeing more taxis carrying Nsobya's photographs as a sign

of high veneration to him by Ugandans.Where are we heading as a Nation?

The morning this article became public, I walked around my village, several people were
talking about this developing event in Uganda and again, they were
saying, as thought it were fact, that the bodies’ parts were warm and active.

What ran into my minds after hearing them was that, do these people follow
news? Did they really listen to the Catholic clerics? Failure to get
answers lead to asking myself a bigger question. “If people today can
misquote the church,inter-change what someone said, how possible could
this have been the same with the Qur'an and the Bible whose writers
wrote from imaginations?

Think about this, the gospel writers Mark,Matthew,Luke and John were
all around Jesus 24/7 but we continuously read about their unmatching
accounts of Jesus’ deeds. This means that chances are very higher that
they wrote false information about Jesus even if we may presume that
indeed Jesus lived sometime back on this planet.
From my observation of what’s happening now, its now time to
reconsider and critically examine if what was wrote in the gospels
about Jesus was indeed true.

Abstract:
SMUG is attempting to leverage a small catalogue of misrepresented and out-of-context comments by me, the independent actions of a few Ugandan leaders regarding their own national public policy, and a tiny handful of relatively minor incidents of “persecution,” into Crimes Against Humanity, the most serious category of crimes in the world.

On March 23, 2012 I was served with a summons on a civil complaint for Crimes Against Humanity of Persecution, filed in Federal District Court in Springfield, MA on behalf of Sexual Minorities of Uganda (SMUG) by the Center for Constitutional Rights, which receives some of its funding from George Soros. The plaintiffs have used the Alien Tort Statute, arguing foreigners should be allowed to sue U.S. citizens in America for alleged violations of international law.

What is the alleged violation of international law? Incredibly, the complaint alleges “Crimes Against Humanity of Persecution,” claiming that my speech on homosexuality and pornography resulted in a conspiracy to persecute homosexuals. This is outrageous!

Talk about lies! Scott Lively makes his money on lies! What SMUG is accusing Lively of is TRUE.

Lively writes: 'The suit leaves out my unequivocal statements where I have repeatedly spoken against the capital punishment provision in the proposed legislation.' What Lively did was to tell Africans that homosexuals are a threat to their families KNOWING that that would stir up red-hot hatred for gay people and KNOWING that this so quickly spills into extreme reactions. It's already too late to say that he is opposed to capital punishment.

We don't know what he told David Bahati and other sponsors of the Bill. And maybe, after hearing Lively's rant and rage against LGBT people, Lively knew that with homosexuality already being illegal, that it would be just a small step to say that the sexual promiscuity of gay males leads to death through the spread of HIV, and what good is it to lock them up in prison to spread HIV to other prisoners, that the only solution is capital punishment for these HIV-positive gay men. Again, we don't know what was said in private. But once Lively is back in USA he can play the self-righteous/innocent card by speaking against capital punishment since in the Bahati Bill. NEVER trust a Christian!

I think this lawsuit is quite appropriate and I hope it's won, and I hope that Scott Lively has to both pay out millions of usd and spend time in prison--no less than 15 years. This would send a signal to other Christian evangelicals about their hate speech.

With full knowledge that these are bald-faced lies, SMUG asserts that 1) I masterminded the 2009 Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda, which they call the “Kill the Gays Bill,” 2) inflamed passions against homosexuals in Uganda by characterizing all homosexuals as irredeemable genocidal child molesters, and 3) introduced to Uganda the heretofore unknown strategy of criminalizing public promotion of homosexuality as a means of opposing the rise of a homosexual movement in Uganda. The proof that these are lies is found in the very same documents they misuse against me.

Their chief “evidence” for a conspiracy is that 1) I allegedly had communications with Ugandan activists and government officials and disseminated copies of my books and other writings in Uganda, 2) that these individuals introduced capital punishment for homosexuals in Uganda by producing and lobbying for the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, and 3) they launched a campaign of public vilification of homosexuals that supposedly would not have occurred had I not inspired and directed them to do so. The suit leaves out my unequivocal statements where I have repeatedly spoken against the capital punishment provision in the proposed legislation. But, neither SMUG nor the Center for Constitutional Rights are interested in the truth.

This alleged conspiracy is simply absurd, implying that my speech and writings about homosexuality overpowered the intelligence and independence of the entire government and population of Uganda, bending them to my supposedly nefarious will. It is a breathtakingly insulting and racist premise. It is factually bankrupt as well, as is proven (once again) by the very documents which the plaintiffs have relied upon for their complaint.

Their evidence that this “conspiracy” resulted in Crimes Against Humanity of Persecution is, in total,

1) the 2011 murder of SMUG leader David Kato (whose confessed killer was NOT an enraged “homophobe,” but Kato‘s live-in male prostitute/lover now serving 30 years in prison for the crime, an important fact they intentionally leave out),

Here, Scott Lively may be correct. You can ask privately my report on Kato's death. I did individually investigated it.

2) the 2012 disruption of a two week conference (on its final day) by police who called the 30 or so of them “terrorists,” none of whom were arrested or detained,

3) the 2008 arrest and brief detention of three activists protesting an AIDS conference against whom no charges were filed,

4) the 2005 arrest of a transsexual who was stripped and fondled by police officers (but who subsequently won a tort suit against the police in a Ugandan court),

5) an alleged nationwide government campaign to “crack down” on homosexual advocacy, resulting in the temporary suspension of one radio station manager by the Ugandan Broadcasting Council (for violation of “minimum broadcast standards” based on the reportedly foul language of a lesbian guest of a talk show),

Passover: A Critical Examination

Passover is something we have all heard mentioned throughout our lives, but what exactly is it? What happened? To whom? By whom? When? We know the Passover story which is written in the bible, but did these events really happen ― is there historical proof? Was it real or just another of the bible's fictitious tales?

In light of all the stories, observances, rituals etc., it is time for a critical examination of Passover, one that is not filtered by religious bias. It is time to answer these questions.

What is the Passover which the Jews celebrate; where is it found in the bible?

Exodus 12:14

"And this day shall be for you as a memorial, and you shall celebrate it as a festival for the Lord; throughout your generations, you shall celebrate it as an everlasting statute." (Jewish Bible: Judacia Press)

"And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever." (Christian Bible: King James Version, 1611)

What does the Passover celebrate?

In Judaism, Passover glorifies the Hebrew God's ― the Invisible Man in the Sky/Space God ― wanton MURDER of babies, children, women, men and animals too:

Beast: animal: creature: a living organism characterized by voluntary movement. Therefore according to the passover Jewish biblical tale ― the Invisible Man in the Sky also deliberately MURDERED innocent dogs, cats, mice, cows, camels, sheep, goats; anything that moved!

Where is this found in the bible?

Exodus 12:12

" I will pass through the land of Egypt on this night, and I will smite every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, and upon all the gods of Egypt will I wreak judgments I, the Lord." (Judacia Press)

"For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD." (King James Version)

"Firstborn," what does this mean?¹

Theologians maintain it is a metaphor to designate the first male child in a family. Oh really, well what does that really mean, consequently? For example, a firstborn male grows up, has a family with his firstborn male child, who also has his firstborn male child. Thus we have three generations of firstborn living ― grandfather, son, grandson ― a common occurrence. Therefore, when the Invisible Man in the Sky killed every firstborn, he would have killed them all, one from each generation; grandfather, son, grandson. Three strikes and they are out!

How do we know that firstborn does not really mean FIRST born which would include girls/women too? Seems like the creator of the universe forgot to tell us what (s)he/it really meant. Unfortunately, the bible does not gives us any details of the bloody aftermath to clarify this ambiguous noun.

The preeminent Jewish biblical commentator Rashi, Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki (1040-1105 CE) wrote that their god's killing of "firstborn" was not even limited to only Egypt:

"Even other firstborn who are in Egypt [will die]. Now how do we know that even the firstborn of the Egyptians who are in other places [will die]? Therefore, Scripture states: 'To Him Who smote the Egyptians with their firstborn' (Ps. 136:10). — [from Mechilta]"

How many people were in Egypt at this time ― the population against which the Invisible Man in the Sky would have waged his bloody cruel slaughter? Would the Space God have killed just a few or what?

"... the population of the whole Nile Delta in the second half of the second millennium BCE has been estimated at c. 1.2 million persons, living from c. 13,000 square km of cultivable land (see K. W. Butzer, Early Hydraulic Civilization of Egypt: A Study in Cultural Ecology [Chicago and London: The University of Chicago Press, 1976]: 83, 93-96).

Therefore, if one studies the real-world implications of this Hebrew bible tale, the human death toll, assuming an average family of five, could easily total 240,000 with only first born "males." Blood would have run ankle deep in the streets and fields; all happening in a matter of hours ― "this night."

" ... there was a great outcry in Egypt, for there was no house in which no one was dead." (Exodus 12:30 Judaica Press)

When the rotting carcasses of beasts are added into this Hebrew tale's death concoction, death's stench and disease would have created unsanitary conditions beyond our wildest imagination. Hundreds of thousands more would have died from these unlivable conditions and resulting diseases.

To put this tale in some perspective, consider that the first atomic bomb ― "Little Boy" ― which was dropped from the Enola Gay on the Japanese city of Hiroshima (August 6, 1945 at 0815 local time) killed far less than the Invisible Man in the Sky did that one night in Egypt. Official Japanese figures at the time put the death toll at 118,661 civilians. Later estimates suggest the final toll was about 140,000, of Hiroshima's population, including military personnel and those who died later from radiation.

The Death-Toll Scoreboard:

• God ― Invisible Man in the Sky ― 240,000 +

Man ― Atomic Bomb ― 140,000

Since this Passover slaughter house story is the Hebrew's own tale and their god, of course they come out on top:

"...the Lord ... will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you." (Exodus 12:23)

The destroyer? Just 10 verses earlier in the bible, it was written "I, the Lord" who "will smite every firstborn." What! Did the Space God put these hits out on contract? Was it too much for (s)he/it? Was (s)he/it too busy checking for turds² to be bothered with all the MURDERS? WTF!

Was this Passover story real or just another of the bible's fictitious tales?

The Passover tale is an invention of the Hebrew Bible, specifically the book of Exodus, which the Hebrews claimed was given to their Moses character in 1312 BCE (Gregorian calendar). The Jewish religion later went even further in this delusion ― extra-biblical ― to assign a specific day to the Space God's slaughter:

"At the stroke of midnight of Nissan 15 of the year 2448 from creation ... 210 years after Jacob settled in Egypt ... God visited the last of the ten plagues on the Egyptians, killing all their firstborn."³

What was the bottom line? After all the murders what happened?

According to the Jewish extra-biblical story line, it was:

"Pharaoh's resistance to free them was broken, and he virtually chased his former slaves out of the land. Several million souls ― 600,000 adult males, plus the woman and children, and a large "mixed multitude" of non-Hebrews who joined them ― left Egypt on that day, and began the 50-day trek to Sinai and their birth as God's chosen people."⁴

Did you catch that sleight of hand? There were only c1.2 million people in all of Egypt, but the biblical tales says there were several million Hebrew slaves plus a multitude of non-Hebrews who left Egypt? As Homer Simpson would say, "Dohhh!" To add insult to injury the Hebrews "took from the Egyptians silver objects, golden objects, and garments." ⁵This is simply pillage and plunder, something forbidden to civilized people. Attila the Hun employed the same tactics as the Hebrews in this tale; maybe this is where he learned his trade.

But the Space God was not through fucking with the Egyptians; he had a thirst for much more blood. The bible story unfolds thusly in Exodus 14:1-28:

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ... I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will be glorified through Pharaoh and through his entire force... [Pharaoh] harnessed his chariot, and ... took six hundred select chariots and all the chariots of Egypt, with officers over them all...

... Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, ... chased after the children of Israel ... and overtook them encamped by the sea... Pharaoh drew near,

The Lord said to Moses... you raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and split it, and the children of Israel shall come in the midst of the sea on dry land...

The Egyptians pursued and came after them all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen, into the midst of the sea... So Moses stretched out his ... the sea returned to its strength, as the Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord stirred the Egyptians into the sea.

And the waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, the entire force of Pharaoh coming after them into the sea; not even one of them survived.

Let's do some math:

1,200,000 total human population of Egypt

Minus:

240,000 firstborn killed (minimum)

2,000,000 million Hebrew slaves escaped

undefined multitude of non-Hebrews

Remaining human beings in Egypt:

(–1,040,000)??? Again, as Homer Simpson would say, "Dohhh!"

What happened with the plagues prior to the MURDERS?

Compared to the bloody mass murder climax address above, the prior plagues were nothing to speak of; frogs, lice, dust, locust, famine and darkness (Exodus 9-10)

However, the Invisible Man in the Sky/Space God did manage to get in some animal cruelty acts and a few MURDERS too:

Boils and blisters "upon man and upon beast" (Exodus 9:10)

Hail, but this hail kills ― "...any man or beast that is found in the field and not brought into the house the hail shall fall on them, and they will die." (Exodus 9:19)

What did the Hebrew people learn after being enslaved in Egypt?

According to the bible story, the Hebrews were in slavery for 430 years.⁵ One would think that after four centuries as slaves they would abhor slavery, but NOOOOOOOOO! The Invisible Man in the Sky included detailed slavery instructions in the Hebrew laws written by Moses (Torah, the first five book in the Hebrew bible). There were detailed rules for Hebrew slave management and even more shitty laws for non-Hebrew (gentile) slaves. Everything a Hebrew wanted to know about getting a gentile slave was right there in his bible ― "his" because women had no property rights.

Leviticus 25 (Judacia Press)

44. Your male slave or female slave whom you may have from the nations that are around you, from them you may acquire a male slave or a female slave.

45. And also from the children of the residents that live among you, from them you may acquire [slaves] and from their family that is with you whom they begot in your land, and they shall become your inheritance.

46. You shall hold onto them as an inheritance for your children after you, as acquired property, and may thus have them serve you forever. But as for your brethren, the children of Israel, a man shall not work his brother with rigor.

How could the Hebrew people learn to be civilized when they chose to follow idiotic writings by psychotic primitive men who attributed their own blood thirst to a Space God ― Invisible Man in the Sky; such as in Deuteronomy 20: 10-17

"When you approach a city to wage war against it ... your God, will deliver it into your hands, and you shall strike all its males with the edge of the sword.

... the women, the children, and the livestock, and all that is in the city, all its spoils you shall take for yourself...

... of these peoples' cities, which the Lord, your God, gives you as an inheritance, you shall not allow any soul to live...you shall utterly destroy them."(Judacia Press)

Thankfully, this wanton blood thirst and slavery was eventually stopped by the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great who made new laws controlling the Jews. Constantine forbade them to own Christian" slaves.⁶

Come on now, one more time, did these events really happen? The Jews swear it was real ― they "believe."

The primitive Hebrews were sold a bill of goods with the Exodus story, just like with the six-day creation of the universe; a walking talking snake; human turned to salt; food falling from the sky; sticks turning into snakes; giant fish walking on dry land; donkeys talking; rabbits having a cud; and a man flying up in the sky in a horse drawn chariot. It is all fiction, tall tales, damnable lies!

The Passover horror story is sold as some sort of national glory:

"The Jew is commanded to 'Remember the day that you went out of Egypt every day of your life' (Deuteronomy 16:3). According to the Maharal, the purpose of the Exodus was not merely the liberation of the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery, but the creation of a new type of person, the Free Man; because of the Exodus, even if subsequently conquered and oppressed, the Jew remains inherently free." ⁷

You now know this "new type of person " was, according to the Hebrews' own holy scriptures from their Invisible Man in the Sky, a blood thirsty murderer who pillaged and plundered; a thief of women and children from the nations and a slave owner.

Even today the Jewish rabbis attempt to sell this Exodus horror to "believers" along the lines of; "Hey it is such a tall tale, it has to be real. Orthodox Rabbi Tzvi Freeman's sales pitch is thus:

"I'll challenge anyone to find any people in the world anywhere at any time ― Inuits or Indonesians, Norse mythology or Navaho legends, Greeks or Germans ― that has a story anything similar to this. People tell plenty of wondrous fanciful legends. There are nations descended from gods, from angels, from fish and from eagles. Even from apes(!). There are people that got to where they are with the help of bears or dragons, magical boats or great volcanoes. But tell me another people who tell their children, "We were slaves to a terrible tyrant in a powerful land, and our God, Master of the Entire Universe, took us out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm...

Perhaps that's the greatest proof that it really must have happened ― because nobody could have made up such a story." ⁸

This sales pitch is even better than the Mormon's claim that their Space God was once a man⁹ who lived near the planet "Kolob." ¹⁰

John Tiffany, an ex-minister, writes:

Researchers are weighing the accuracy of the reigns of King Solomon and King David against archaeological and scientific data just recently discovered. These scholars are coming up with some very interesting conclusions.

A history of the region during the Iron I and Iron II periods leaves little room for any historicity in the accounts of the books of Samuel and Kings, critics say ...

Unknown to almost all laymen, a huge number of scholars have quietly come together agreeing on a historical fact that will overturn the entirety of “court history” when all the facts they have gathered become widely known.

They agree that the various tales of “ancient Israel” are largely fictional. Based upon the known facts of geography, history, archaeology and even biblical scholarship, many of them argue there was no such entity as “ancient Israel”—that it never existed.¹¹

Bill Maher put things into proper perspective:

"Why is monotheistic faith better than polytheistic? I mean, either you believe ― if you believe in, like, a magic person who can do magic things, why is it different ― so different if it's Superman or the Fantastic Four?

The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them."

Don't remain a religiholic! Think! Think critically and independently! See these biblical tall tales for what they really are ― damnable fiction, not what some theologian or rabbi wants you to "believe."

On The Omni-Impotence Of The Alleged Gods.

I haven taken long without posting on my blog, simply because am seriously busy. I have decided that,on several occasions,I will share articles of other writers on my blog.Those articles that I feel should be read by my fans.

The Speed of Light Limit prevents all matter, energy and most importantly information from going faster than the speed of light, c. Since the universe is a very large place it takes a very long time for matter, energy or information to travel from one place to another should they not be near each other. For example the nearest star system to Earth's Sol system that has a known planet is about 20 light years which means that it takes light and thus information 20 years to travel there.
The alleged gods are super alien beings because of their alleged super powers, specifically their alleged omni* powers, omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, omnibenevolence aka omnievil.
Unfortunately for these alleged gods their omni* powers are not possible in the actual objective reality of Nature due to the limiting factor of the Speed of Light.
Omniscience isn't possible since one can't be omniscient when it takes 20 years for what is happening a few star systems over to arrive. The problem gets worse when you try to see what is happening 10 billion light years across the known universe...
Omnipotence isn't possible for a number of reasons but one is that you can't project your power across spacetime without it taking a long time. So 20 years for the information to arrive here on Earth where you're alleged godly being is watching over his son Jesus, and another 20 years for your alleged godly super power energy to arrive back at the other planet in that nearby star system... that's a minimum of 40 years... likely the organisms that the alleged godly being wanted to wipe out are already dead from old age.
Omnipresence. Ok, this one is just bizarre since any being that is everywhere would be so scatter brained as to be numbed by all that information processing... besides where is the brain that could process all that information? Not to mention the fact that the information would be arriving late and disconnected. How would any such being communicate with itself and organize any coordinated actions across the huge gulf of spacetime in the real universe?
The best part is that omnibenevolent super alien beings are not possible as a result of the above omni-impotent powers. This is good news since any alleged omnibenevolent being is essentially omnievil, just as the bible shows with an alleged god that floods an entire planet as if that is a good thing. What isn't noticed by the believers is that their alleged god committed mass murderous planetary genocide killing off every life except for one tiny boat load full and that this is some how moral and ethical thing to do? Just the opposite, it's omnievil.
So, given the hard and harsh physics that Einstein brought to our attention the alleged gods are forever consigned to a meager existence within the brains of faith stricken believers irrational desire for their fantasy to be true. It's a very good thing that their alleged god(s) die with them. Hopefully they won't take the rest of us with them.
What can be proven about the alleged gods via the hard and harsh physics is that they are omni-impotent and merely concepts in the brains of believers. Unfortunately those concepts when acted upon can have potent and deadly consequences. So the threat is real even if the alleged gods are not.
So while in objective reality the alleged gods are impotent in an all to real sense they are potent through the sole actions of their believers. Not a good situation at all but way better than a universe with actual gods existing by far since the laws of Nature would then be capricious by the will of the alleged gods.
The strength of this negative proof that shows that the alleged gods of humans can't possibly exist is based upon the strength of the latest in physics science. To prove this proof wrong you'd have to prove most if not all of modern physics wrong. Good luck.
A side benefit of this proof is that no living organism or artificial system can have these omni* powers either. In other words aliens will be more like us with limits than like the alleged gods. That is very good news. Of course we might still be a snack so we have to keep an eye out for that scenario. Oh, the physics also shows us that the cost to travel between star systems in enormous and would severely limit the places that aliens could or would travel to. Unfortunately this also limits us.
In summary the objective reality of Nature prevents matter, energy or information from traveling faster than the speed of light thus no alleged gods can actually exist since they are omni-impotent due to omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, and omnibenevolence aka omnievil being impossible in reality where we actually exist. The alleged gods are only gods if they have their alleged omni-powers, without those powers they are at best omni-impotent like the rest of us which is really good news since that means that the destructive power of the alleged gods is strictly limited to the destructive power of the people who believe in them.

On Sunday, 26 Dec 2010, the Associated Press published an article entitled "Pope Lunches With Poor, Denounces Church Attacks." He denounced the Christmas day attacks on Christians in the Philippines, Nigeria and Pakistan.

Let's take Nigeria first

As a human rights activist, I deplore all of this violence too. But somewhere along the line, we must analyse why this constantly occurs. Please note that groups of scientists who are atheists do not riot against one another and kill one another. Most likely, scientists who are still practicing a religion are also not involved in such violence. That said, why are Muslims and Christians destroying property and killing one another in Nigeria?

In India, some months ago, Hindus rioted against Christians because the former disapproved of the Christians' proselytising Hindus. This is a matter of money. Fewer Hindus, less money to Hindu priests, priests get very angry, sermonise about this during worship services, and as soon as services are over, Hindus go on a killing rampage against Christians. Even though news reports (created by journalists with a religious belief of their own to protect), do not explain the underlying cause of these endless killing sprees between religious groups. What can be said about the violent relations between Hindus and Christians, also explains the violent relations between all ideological groups against one another.

News articles written by religious journalists are far more biased than those written by atheists. Atheist journalists are more apt to report objectively, but religious journalists have their own theological agenda and biased view of the world.

But to answer Mr Akawu's question, Christians also have a history of committing gross violence against Jews. Recalling from memory, it was around 1891, after an Easter sermon, Christians in Pinsk, Belorussia poured out of their church that afternoon and broke into the homes of frightened Jews, maiming and murdering dozens. The reason: the claim by the Christian priest that Jews killed Jesus. (So silly, since "Jesus" is only a mythological character.) This was the basis of many pogroms of Jews before the rise of Adolf Hitler. The Pope is really not in a position to condemn Muslim killing of Christians.

We have the reverse now, with Muslims arrogating unto themselves the Divine right to kill Jews, Christians and all other "infidels." So when we think of atheists and scientists who do not start wars against our religious neighbours or against each other, Christians will jump up and remind saying "Josef Stalin was an atheist, and he killed MILLIONS!" This is true, but there are some fine points here. Stalin grew up in a Russian Orthodox culture and attended for three years Tiflis Theological Seminary in what is now Tbilisi, Georgia, about 87 km from Russia. I see this among atheists all the time. They rid themselves of the god belief, but still retain so much of their earlier life's indoctrination which colours their view of life. Some male atheists are still oppose to abortion, some are still anti-LGBT, some are still male chauvinists, etc.

Like Robert Mugabe, Josef Stalin was intelligent and a bully. Had I been an atheist under the Stalin regime, I would have feared him and joined others to fight his murderous oppression.

Is Robert Mugabe an atheist? No, he is still a Catholic and a bully. Nonetheless, it's not that hard for bullies to substitute one ideology for another. In Stalin's case, Marxism became his religion--plus the fact that he was an ego maniacal force unto himself. In 1996 "Mugabe and Marufu were married in a Roman Catholic wedding Mass at Kutama College, a Catholic mission school he previously attended." --Wikipedia

Atheism is not an ideology. Words ending in "-ism" are usually ideologies of some sort. But "atheism" is the opposite because the "a-" is a Greek prefix meaning "without." Atheists are without "theism" or a god belief. Greek "god" is Theos. Atheists are simply people who don't believe in a god. From there, atheists are many other things. Most of us are rational people in that we see no need for violent conflict between people, and we seek peaceful solutions to problems--including practices leading to population stabilisation.

Overpopulation caused by religion

The Philippines is 90% Christian, 90% of which is Roman Catholic. It has a population of 80 million presently. In 1962, when Uganda became independent, the population of the Philippines was 28 million. This very rapid population growth is due to Roman Catholic opposition to abortion and artificial birth control. Catholic women who practice "natural birth control" are called "mothers."

The land area of the Philippines is 300,000 sq km. For comparison, Uganda's land area is 2,698 km, and we have 31 million people. The Philippines has 266.6 people per sq km. Uganda has 11,490 people per sq km. When I saw these figures on my calculator, I thought I made a mistake. But yes, double-checking, my calculations are correct. I knew Uganda was overpopulated--but good grief!! No wonder half the population of Uganda is starving!

And this is my point: hungry people have a choice: a) to peacefully lie down and die, or b) form armed groups and kill perceived enemies. Religion provides the justification for violence--since there are so many stories of violence in the Old Testament and the Qur'an. Religious violence is caused not only by disagreement over theological interpretations, but by dwindling resources--water, food, land being the most basic.

Increased population leads to soil degradation and progressively lower annual yields. India's Green Revolution, starting in 1965, has been overwhelmed by continued population growth and soil degradation. Today, 230 million people in India are undernourished. "Foodgrain harvest during 2008-09 is estimated to be a record 228 million tonnes. However, the requirement for the national population would exceed 250 million tonnes by 2015."

As an atheist with a focus on ending violence and food hunger, I see it necessary to substitute science education for religious belief.

My favourite quote: "For every morsel of bread given to a stranger in need, hundreds have died from diseases whose cures were thwarted by organized religion's traditional opposition to science." --Charles Sutherland

A scientific approach to life would be to look at the world as a whole, to look at 7 billion people and population growth in Third World countries and why these countries remain poor with unchecked population growth. This becomes a vicious cycle. For certain, the Roman Catholic pope is one root cause of the world's misery. But let me say that all other religions are working with the pope to continue this suffering of the world's peoples--while these pious scoundrels call for suffering people to keep faith with their oppressors so that they can continue their oppression. This is also called: Mass Insanity.

To conclude: Your religious belief and your financial contributions to any religious organisation is harmful to everyone--religious and non-religious alike. Religious belief is selfish, irrational and cruel.

"How should we handle gays in Uganda"?

Following a strong debate on GLBT rights in Uganda,my online friend sent me this note and I thought,though am not mentioning his names,I thought it will be good for my online communities to read it to. Below is my reply to him.

"Thank you for your commenting about gay rights i never even thought of the perception of many people.thanx to facebook now i have a broad mind .my work as a teacher has made me confront gays and i have expelled some boys in an effort to curb this vice.so what is the way forward?? how should we handle gays in Uganda?"

Thank you sir--, for your email.

1 You made a big mistake for expelling those boys based on your concept of "vice." A century ago, Webster's defined vice as such:

2. A moral fault or failing; especially, immoral conduct or habit, as in the indulgence of degrading appetites; customary deviation in a single respect, or in general, from a right standard, implying a defect of natural character, or the result of training and habits; a harmful custom; immorality; depravity; wickedness; as, a life of vice; the vice of intemperance. [1913 Webster]

"Immorality; depravity; wickedness," -- right out of the Old Testament.

What I would like for you to do is to find all those you expelled and bring them to a meeting so that you can apologise for what you did, in the mistaken belief that they were wrong and you were right, based on old European superstitious beliefs. Meantime, Europe has, for the most part, thrown off the shackles of Christianity--but we, the colonialised, have not.

As a human rights activist, I see the value in people's brains--or minds--that need to be educated as much as possible. If all these boys did was to show affection, or sexual affection, to one another (which is far better than boys fighting and injuring one another), then your actions were very harmful and unjust.

I would like to attend this meeting so that all of us, you, me and the expelled boys, can discuss what human rights is, the value of education, and the harm done by religious beliefs.

At the end of the meeting, I hope that the boys can be returned to school to finish their education, and because they were victims of discrimination based on religious belief, they will make a commitment to devoting the rest of their lives to reforming Uganda toward a more secular nation.

In David Bahati's Anti-Homosexuality Bill, it is stated: "This legislation further recognizes the fact that same sex attraction is not an innate and immutable characteristic."

Notice how the word recognises is spelt with a "z". That's because this bill was written up by Americans, by members of The Family, a radical Christian group in Washington, D.C.

There are at least 1,860,000 men and women in Uganda who are 100% homosexual. A larger, additional percentage are bisexuals. All these people are oppressed because of religion, the condemnations of same-sex affection expressed by the European god in the Old Testament and St Paul in the New Testament. To the fundamentalists, the literalists, St Paul is as much of a god as is Jesus.

It is claimed by religious gays that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. In a literal sense, that is correct, but Jesus (a fictious character, not an historic figure), said the following in Matthew, Chapter 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.

5:18 Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with -- not until the end of all things.

We have in the Good News Bible, 1976, Leviticus 18:22 No man is to have sexual relations with another man; God hates that.

In the American Standard Version, 1901, this interpretation reads: "And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
In theocracies, such as Uganda, if there is to be a discussion on homosexuality, it must be condemnatory. This gives people like MP David Bahati permission to advocate total genocide or elimination of all gay people. The Bible tells him so.

To speak in favour of human rights, including the rights of people who were born gay or bisexual, is to go against Biblical condemnation. In other words, people like me are regarded as evil or Satanic because I'm going against "God's Will."

Elsewhere in the Bible, this European god destroys whole communities that go against his will.

So religious people are filled with fear to speak the opposite of what is stated in the Bible. And this is why the topic of homosexuality is taboo--except for ministers of religion and ardent religionists like Bahati who must condemn gay people.

What is so promising, however, is that the science and technology which lead to the development of the Internet and facilitated easy communication, is breaking this taboo.

In Europe's Medieval Ages, there was no science. Finding facts through scientific methodology didn't develop in until Francis Bacon.

What is the scientific method? From Wikipedia:

Scientific method refers to a body of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry must be based on gathering observable, empirical and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning. A scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses.

Who is Francis Bacon? From Wikipedia:

Bacon has been called the father of empiricism. His works established and popularized inductive methodologies for scientific inquiry, often called the Baconian method or simply, the scientific method. His demand for a planned procedure of investigating all things natural marked a new turn in the rhetorical and theoretical framework for science, much of which still surrounds conceptions of proper methodology today.

As opposed to Bahati's condemnation of millions of Ugandans (including all those who actively support equal rights of all citizens), an inquiry amongst the people of Uganda to explain their sexual attactions, all will tell you that they discovered themselves based on how their body and mind responded to certain individuals. In probably the majority of the population, that response will be toward the opposite sex, but in a large minority, individuals find themselves responding to members of both sexes. And in a minority--about 6%--the response is exclusively toward the same sex.

Sexual attraction is not a matter of will or of good character. It is genetically-based responses. The "right woman" is not based on a formula you developed when you were an adolescent. Your attractions are not based on a list of intellectual or physical expectations of a woman. In fact, your responses are based only on emotions--some part of your brain is turned on by the right facial and body features, which is what an individual discovers. "Wow, when I saw that tall, slightly plump woman--my heart went crazy!" Emotional response directed by the brain--which behavioural scientists are still analysing.

It matters not whether a man is in a whole village filled with young ladies, if his brain responds to a member of the same sex, there's nothing he can do about it. That's part of his genetic make-up. He cannot will a change any more than a black man can change himself into an albino, or a short man into a tall man. We must accept who we are, and we must demand that society accept our neighbours, our brothers and sisters, just as they are.

The discrimination against gay men and lesbians is no less painful than what blacks experienced in racist South Africa, or the Deep South in America. Discrimination based on something one cannot change is very painful. It can destroy a person's will to apply effort toward reaching his maximum potential.   This is understandable because any effort toward self-development will be destroyed by the bigots around him. This results in a tragic loss for Uganda. Gay people, like straight people, have considerable value. We must protect and nourish their abilities to contribute to their own happiness and the betterment of Uganda.

Bahati, and most ministers of religion, are destroying Uganda by destroying the lives of millions of people--turning ordinarily happy people into frightened and despressed people because of colonialism--because of adhering to the cruel and superstitious writings of the European holy book.

I know about discrimination because of my being an indigenous African who sees every day how Indians and Europeans are treated with respect and given preferential treatment here in Kampala by National Resistance Movement, while we indigenous Africans are treated like dirt--in our own country! From there, I see how women are treated brutally by men, treated with contempt by men. So from there, I see how gays and lesbians are treated with even greater contempt by the larger religious-heterosexual society.

As our national motto says: "For God and My Country." Is Uganda my country when I'm treated like a second-class citizen because I'm indigenous African? Is Uganda the country of people who were born homosexuals? Of course not. Bahati wants to kill them. Others want all homosexuals to leave--like Adolf Hitler wanted all Jews to leave Europe. But the world, at the time, didn't want more Jews in their country, so Hitler's staff developed methods of exterminating Jews, homosexuals, Roma, trade unionists, and others. This is what Bahati has in mind--and so do most member of Parliament.

And where does all this red-hot hatred come from? Again, American colonialism that most Ugandans are mindlessly embracing. This hatred comes from America's right-wing Christians--the same fascists we can read about in Germany's Third Reich.

In other words, we're not for the people in this nation, we're for something that doesn't even exist! A European god. And we punish so many solely because they aren't superstitious. Again, as an atheist, I know the pain of being a rational person with an appreciation of science in a nation that has only a 50% literacy rate, while the Christians are behaving exactly like the Islamists they so self-righteously condemn!

There's not a dime's worth of difference between Islamists and fundamentalist Christians (Catholics, Lutherans, Pentecostals, Baptists). So, in our meeting with the boys you expelled, we will discuss the source of bigotry and hatred in Uganda. This can be our beginning to reverse Uganda's march to persecution, if not genocide, of a harmless minority group. We will discuss the importance of education and to devote our lives to human rights and freedom from oppression. I hope to read another reply from you.

SHOULD WE LISTEN TO THE POPE NOW?

I posted this article here sometime back,but it seems my blog had a problem

and it appeared half published.Am republishing it.

The pope changed his mind about condoms--just a little.The Catholic

Church used to claim that condoms were ineffective in preventing the

transmission of HIV viruses. So now the Church is claiming that condoms

are effective in preventing the passage of viruses.Why the sudden change?

The Church has been losing members and money. The Pope rails against the

secularisation in Europe, but the people continue to question church

doctrine, and more and more are looking to science which is far more

credible.More people are finally realising that religion--any

religion--is a cruel joke. People who cling to religious belief and follow

the Church's dictates are afraid of freedom--the freedom to think on their

own and to direct their own lives.

Everything that any church does is about money. The reason the Church

condemns contraception and family planning is that the Church wants more

Catholics who are poor, illiterate and submissive to the Church. Educated

people create their own purpose in life. Uneducated people with weak

characters and little imagination depend upon religion to give them a

purpose. With particularly the Catholic Church, that purpose is creating

babies--even when parents cannot afford them, even when overpopulation

drives wildlife to extinction.

In a visit to a West African country last year, the pope said that the use

of condoms will make the HIV problem worse. But now he's saying that he

was wrong, that the use of condoms by prostitutes prevents the spread of

HIV.

The question for everyone shouldn't be "when may I use a condom?" But

"under what circumstances should I not use a condom?" The only time I can

think of when condoms are unnecessary is when there is sexual activity

that does not involve penetration--as in foreplay and masturbation.

A few months ago I did a personal survey of the availability of condoms in

Kampala. I was very disappointed by my having to spend a lot of time

searching for them. Condoms should be cheap and everywhere--if we're

really serious about curtailing the spread of HIV.

The other question is: Why does anyone listen to the pope? The Catholic

Church has been responsible for the spread of HIV/AIDS with their

condemnation of all contraceptives. That in itself should be enough

reason for the Catholic believer to excommunicate the Church from their

lives.

The Pope’s concession that condoms may be morally justified to prevent the

spread of HIV is a significant modification of the Vatican’s traditional,

hardline stance against all condom use.

The Pope seems to be admitting, for the first time, that using condoms can

be morally responsible if they help save lives. Until now, Benedict XVI

has always insisted that the church’s opposition to condom use was a

fundamental, non-negotiable moral absolute that could never be changed.

This new policy is a volte-face. It appears to be a response to the

widespread criticism of the previous Papal policy, including criticisms

from many Catholic clergy and lay people. Most ordinary Catholics have

long rejected the Pope’s dogmatic, unyielding rejection of condoms. They

realise that using condoms can help protect people against HIV.

Pope Benedict seems to realise that his unrelenting, blanket opposition to

condoms has damaged his own authority and that of the church.

If the Pope can change his stance on condoms, why can’t he also

modify the Vatican’s harsh, intolerant opposition to women’s rights,gay

equality, fertility treatment and embryonic stem cell research?

This new stance shows that the Vatican now realises that it’s earlier

policy was untenable and unsustainable

If we want to rid ourselves of colonialism (which I hear all fellow

Africans claim) we start by ridding ourselves of Christianity and Islam

that NOT ONLY enslaved us for over 400 years,its continuing making our

lives miserable.

Afraid of being sent adrift without religion? There is no reason to fear.

Join and support the Atheist Association of Uganda and its activities.

God will not save you because there is no God at all. Join our family

because only we can save ourselves and each other.

Not the Child My Grandmother Wanted

One of the earlier and most remarkable memories of my youth is a conversation with my grandmother. I had many conversations with her, or rather monologues, but this particular one stands out as she imparted the most important insights of her teachings. It was the moment when I understood how much I was worth. My value was approximately the same as a piece of sheep fat in the sun.

We were on our front yard of white sand. It was a hot day, like almost all days in Mogadishu. There was nothing unusual about the flies that irritated us or the ants that I avoided for fear of their sharp, agonizing bites. If they happened to crawl under my dress or I sat on them accidentally they would punish me with a sting that made me shriek with pain. That shrieking and hopping about would earn disapproval and even a slap from Grandmother.

I think I was 6 or 7 on that day, maybe younger, but I know I was not 8 because my family had not yet left Somalia. Grandmother was moralizing as usual. On that day, like all other days, she was admonishing me to remember my place.

“Cross your legs,” she said, “lower your gaze. You must learn not to laugh, and if you must laugh then see to it that you don’t cackle like the neighbor’s hen.” We had no chickens but the noise of the neighbors’ hens screeching and hooting and trespassing was enough for me to get the message.

“If you must go outside make sure you are accompanied and that you and your company walk as far away from men as possible,” she said.

To my grandmother’s annoyance, I responded with the question: “But Grandmother, what about Mahad?” My brother Mahad never seemed to invite this kind of endless preaching from Grandmother. She answered me like the obtuse child she decided I was.

“Mahad is a man! Your misfortune is that you were born with a split between your legs. And now, we the family must cope with that reality!”

I thought: There was yet another thing I did wrong and I did not have the ability to set right. If only I wasn’t so dimwitted; if only I understood how I was to blame for the flaw that granny abhorred so much.

“Ayaan, you are stubborn, you are reckless and you ask too many questions. That is a fatal combination. Disobedience in women is crushed and you are disobedient. It is in you, it is in your bone marrow. I can only attempt to tell you what is right.”

Grandmother pointed to a piece of sheep fat on the ground. It was covered with ants, and flies were zooming above it, landing on it, sucking it. It was a vile piece of meat that was being warmed by the sun, and a trickle of fat seeped out of it. She said: “You are like that piece of sheep fat in the sun. If you transgress, I warn you men will be no more merciful to you than those flies and ants are to that piece of fat.”

A lot has changed in my life since those days in the sun with Grandmother. Today when I look back I see that I have proven her wrong. I disobeyed, true to my nature, I transgressed, but I avoided the destiny of the sheep fat.

Sitting in an airplane, I have on my lap the memoir of Nujood Ali. The title of the book is “I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced.” My reading list contains another book, by Elizabeth Gilbert. It is called “Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia.” The reason I associate the two books is because of their description of marriage and divorce, and particularly the word “painful.”

Nujood was 8 years old when a delivery man approached her father in Sana, Yemen. After the initial expression of hospitality, the delivery man stated his business: He was looking for a wife. Nujood’s two older sisters were already married, so she was the logical bride, regardless of her age. Her father accepted $750 in dowry money and gave away his 8-year-old daughter. When Nujood’s mother and sisters appealed to him, pleading that she was too young to get married, the father responded with the excuse used by all Muslim fathers who marry off their daughters before they come of age: “Too young? When the Prophet wed Aisha she was only 9.”

In fact, Muhammad wed Aisha when she was 6. According to Scripture, the Prophet waited for Aisha to begin menstruating before consummating the marriage. Nujood’s new husband, Faez, showed no such restraint.

In painful detail, Nujood describes a real nightmare on her wedding night: How she runs away, how she seeks help, how she struggles, how he touches her and she wriggles out of his arms, how she calls out to her mother- in-law. “Aunty,” she screams, “somebody help me!” But there was silence. She describes how he gets hold of her, his awful smell, a mixture of tobacco and onions. She recounts the childish threat she makes — “I will tell my father” — and the husband’s reply: “You can tell your father whatever you like. He signed the marriage contract, he gave me permission to marry you.”

From the time Nujood was able to gather her wits about her she set about planning her escape. The story is recommended reading for anyone who seriously wants to understand what Muslim women can be subjected to.

In Yemen, Nujood’s father, her husband, the judges, the policemen and the broader society — with the exception of a very few — view her situation as normal. And Yemen is by no means unique.

When I turn to Elizabeth Gilbert’s description of a painful divorce it becomes clear to me what feminism has accomplished in the West. Gilbert decides to divorce her husband not because he was forced upon her, but because there is something intangible that he cannot give her. She chose to marry him. Every decision she made was voluntary: to marry him, to buy property with him, even to try for a child. Yet still she felt unfulfilled.

The deep sense of dissatisfaction leads her to abandon her marriage, the life of a privileged woman. She goes to Italy to find a piece of herself, the pleasure of eating. She goes to India to find another piece of herself: the pleasure of devotion. In Indonesia she finds yet another piece of herself: the balance between the pleasures of eating and praying. In India she finds a guru who answers her spiritual needs.

Gilbert’s story shows what feminism can achieve elsewhere, especially in the Muslim world.

But her story also demonstrates something else. Those women in the West who, like Gilbert, have harvested what the early feminists fought for have almost no affinity for women like Nujood — and like me when I was a little girl.

This is not to pass judgment on Gilbert. On the contrary, I admire her intellectual honesty and her pursuit of self-knowledge. The woman I have become in the West now feels closer to the Gilberts of this world than the Nujoods. But I find myself asking as I read these two books: What can current Western feminism offer the Nujoods?

I often am asked by my Western audiences: “Where did feminism go wrong?” I think the answer is staring us in the face. Western feminism hasn’t gone wrong at all — it has accomplished its mission so completely that a woman like Elizabeth Gilbert can marry freely and then leave her husband equally freely, purely in order to pursue her own culinary and religious inclinations. The victory of feminism allows women like Gilbert to shape their own destinies.

But there is a price for this victory: The price is a solipsism so complete that a great many Western women have lost the ability to empathize with women not only in the Islamic world, but also in China, India and other countries; women whose suffering takes forms that are now largely unknown in the West, save in the ghettos of immigrants. They are too busy hunting for the perfect prayer mat or pasta to give two hoots about a case of child-rape in Yemen.

The best we can hope for is not for the West to invade other countries in the hope of emancipating their women. That is neither realistic nor desirable (and remains our least plausible war aim in Afghanistan).

The best we can hope for is a neo-feminism that reminds women in the West of the initial phases of their liberation movement. Those phases not only highlighted the subjugation of women, they set out to dismantle the foundations of their cages. For the dream of liberation to come true for women in the East it is imperative that we seek to shatter the underpinnings of their subjugation, which are now enshrined in religion and custom.

The suffering of this Kid moved me.

The mother of this kid (in picture below) appeared on NBS’ Ttitie’s show. She was so desperate about the future of her kid, given that her elder kid died at the age of six, which not only destroyed her cohabiting marriage, but severely punished her emotionally. I will not focus on the life of the mother and how she lived her life, I picked interest in this child and the show (I rarely tune in to this show, its full of crap). According to the woman, her kid is suffering from an unknown disease and from her words, she wasn’t on the show to fundraise for treatment but to seek answers to the number of questions she had about the health of her kid.

The father of the kid disowned her. He claimed that the disease is originating from her ancestral fathers and that she is also a Murundi (Ugandans of Burundian descent).The woman have done everything to secure the health of her kid like a loving mum. She claims that she went to Mulago hospital and EXPERTS couldn’t trace the disease, (the religious and superstitious host of the show, lacks the ability to investigate, critically analyze and examine issues, so there was no verifiable document to prove that the Medical experts in Mulago hospital failed to find the illness) she turned her attention to superstition both in churches and shrines, to name it where she become a victim and being conned. I took interest to try to ask her several questions of which she was not able to answer right. Death of this woman's first child must be taken in stride. In other words, one must resign one's self to this outcome.

I called the woman, and requested if she could share with me the picture of the kid and if it’s okay to share it with my online community and she agreed, she gave me a go ahead. I have seen the kid, she is disfigured (this pictures presents the illness in its initial stage).She is in great pain. No one seems to understand the kid’s life and suffering at the moment. The Host of Ttitie's show should have engaged a medical professional from both the Ministry of Health and Mulago hospital.

I was puzzled as to why Ttitie didn’t go to Mulago hospital and investigate if it was the case that the mother was there and that medical professionals couldn’t find the cause of disease.

Why didn’t the TV host, before she presents superstitious victims to the superstitious audience, seek the Ugandan Government observation on most the issues she presents?

This was a health issue that can affect the whole society, so why didn’t the host seek answers from the Ministry of Health?

For several reasons, I have chosen to say that Ttitie's show, instead of helping societies to seek answers and apply critical examinations of anything, it's doing the opposite. At the end of the day, it does more harm than good to the general public.

As you observe and take a critical look at the picture, what do you think the problem is? Have you seen it before? Do you have any good links to help us understand this illness?

The Uganda we missed: 8 Million Maximum population.

A commenter to this blog disagreed with my sustainable population figure of 8 million for Uganda when he read my previous articles on populations’ growth. But he failed to suggest another number. I will stick with my 8 million figures.

The concept of human population so often is focused on area and how many humans can occupy that area. When I think in terms of overpopulation, I think in terms of forests and wildlife that we depend upon, as well as water resources. I also think about *Why* should we have more than 8 million humans in Uganda? Uganda has approximately 31 million people today.

Consider this: The population of the United States is about 310 million now in this 2010. In 1940, the population was 131,669,275. The next year (1941), the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour which lead the USA into wars against Europe and Japan. They mobilised effectively, producing all the materiel needed to defeat their enemies. Now the USA has more than doubled in population. Are they twice as powerful? No, they are not. Many would argue that they are actually weaker. (For another day, we can argue that the USA is weaker because of their foreign wars, plus their incredibly suicidal drug war, with locking up 2.5 million people currently, most of whom are in prison just for experimenting with drugs--but I don't want to digress here.)

EDUCATION: Then consider this: The Jewish population of the USA is about 1%, and yet, because of their culture emphasising education, they wield considerable political power.

If everyone in the United States had a four-year college education, or an equivalent in technical training, the United States would be a supremely powerful Nation with a 1940 population. If just the amount they spend on their drug war were, instead, funneled into education, this would be quite possible to achieve.

Likewise with Uganda. If we had a population of eight million educated people--people with college degrees--we would have an ideal democracy (which requires an educated populace) and would not need to accept foreign charity. (call it AID)

This brings me to the issue of accepting money from compassionate donor nations. If Uganda had achieved population stability at the 8 million level, we could then support ourselves. But our population continues to grow at an appalling rate of 4%, which is further exacerbated by government corruption.

Donor nations see this corruption, and cut back until we end government corruption. But donor nations should ALSO see our population growth rate--and END donations until the religious leaders’ stops encouraging people to have children. This can be done--if donor nations acquire the guts to demand this.

I keep reading conflicting reports. On the one hand, donor nations are threatening to cut off funding (and some already have cut back), and yet I read this article of four years ago:

"The Ugandan government is receiving so much foreign aid that the economy is unable to absorb it. Treasury bills have to be used to suck the money out of the system. As a result, the Central Bank is holding $700m in treasury bills, and the interest on that per annum is $120m - which is incurred by the tax payer." -- BBC news, 7 July, 2005.

One thing I can tell the readers of this blog: none of this money has trickled down to me! Nothing has changed in my villages. Many people are becoming more desperate and unable to live better lives as the result sky-rocketing prices steming from the alarming populations growth. Instead of giving us money as "foreign aid" why not spend US$1 billion by building classrooms and paying college instructors to teach us things we need to know to qualify for an accredited bachelor's degree. Residents of the District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.) can enroll at the Univ. of DC and pay much lower tuition than students going to your average university in the United States.

Because of stomach-turning corruption in the Ugandan government under NRM (National Resistance Movement), there must be a way to build those college buildings and pay scholars to teach without having one shilling go to our government. Why hasn't this been done?

I would love to have a college education, but since I was a kid, I've been struggling just to stay alive. I never had the money to finish my education to get an Advanced level certificate and then go to University. My life is being wasted because of religion and government corruption. So let me ask this question: What's the purpose of living in the first place if I am prevented from developing skills commensurate to my abilities?

I tell you, 8 million people in Uganda with a University education would make for a powerful nation. A nation where people would have the intellectual wherewithal to work and live together with far fewer conflicts, such as tribalism, Nepotism and the scourge of religion.

WATER: Uganda is stressed by its inadequate fresh water supply for people, wildlife, farming and hydroelectric power. Even though Uganda borders Lake Victoria--the largest fresh-water lake in Africa--people in Kampala, right next to the lake, must store water in jerry cans because of limited supply of clean water. all this is so because of the overwhelming population growth which Ugandan President is embracing.

FORESTS AND FARMS: The commenter mentioned that most of Israel is desert. 12% of Uganda is defined as mountainous. But between "mountainous" and "flat" is a large area of Uganda that is "hilly." As we have been seeing for the past several years, more people are cutting down forests on hills for farming and living space.

Here is an example of the problem which is not uncommon. Henry Wanambwa, the LC I chairman of Kubehwo village that was partly swept by the Bududa landslide, has three wives with whom he sired 24 children. With only one acre of land, he is not able to cultivate enough food for them. He has married off two girls but still has problems feeding the others.

As the boys grow up, he sends them uphill to find more land to cultivate. "I advised them to cultivate on the steep slopes where there is still some land," he explains.

When Bududa was made a district about two years ago, its population was about 146,000, according to district statistics. However, this has grown to over 300,000 people.

As that article notes, Uganda is suffering from overpopulation. Not just this particular area, but the country as a whole. For Bududa, which has doubled in population in just two years, how do we go back to 146,000? Any reduction would bring instant howls of protest from Catholic priests. George Bush's idea of promoting "abstinence" only guarantees that the problem of overpopulation will continue. I'm grateful to Pres. Obama for re-funding the International Planned Parenthood Federation. The US Congress should write this into law so that future Republican presidents cannot reverse it.

Overpopulation creates and expands poverty, and poverty drives people to war over limited resources. Overpopulation decreases the security of all of us. Yes, that includes the United States of America.

Further, overpopulation increasingly limits the space for wildlife. Soils at the equator are not rich in humus (black organic material needed for good crops) because of the constant heat and bacterial activity. Once forests are destroyed to make way for farm land, that area runs the risk of desertification which leads to high erosion. Then where does the wildlife go? Well, they don't really go anywhere. They are also forced to compete for limited supplies of food in a decreasing living space--and they simply die out. In temperate regions, farm land can easily be turned back into forests. In tropical areas, that is extremely difficult to do--as we are seeing in Brazil and Indonesia.

WILDLIFE: When I think of Uganda, I think of our place in the world of nations. Israel does not have the rich wildlife that we have--which is being depleted by way too many hungry people who raid our forests for "bush meat." It pains me greatly that our monkeys, gorillas, chimps are killed for human consumption. This is happening all over Africa--because of overpopulation. Overpopulation is destroying the once-rich biodiversity that we had a generation ago. The United Nations has warned: "Despite about two decades of conferences, conventions and commitments, the earth's biological diversity -- or biodiversity for short -- steadily erodes as ecosystems suffer and species die out."

In other words, as the Roman Catholic Church and other religions seek to protect life by opposing sex education, birth control methods and abortion, the High Priests of Superstition are killing all of us. They're killing all of us the way the white settlers in America killed the Indians: not so much by killing Indians, but by killing the buffalo the Indians depended upon for food. Yes, two and a half years ago, the pope said, "Our earth speaks to us, and we must listen if we want to survive"--Pope Benedict XVI, July 24, 2007. Okay, is the pope listening to an overpopulated earth and the groans of dying wildlife and humans? Absolutely not and no pope ever will. How do the victims of Catholic theology die? (see photo of an African child below.)

WASTE: And then there is the problem of waste. A few years ago I was visiting a friend's friend who collected old West African magazines. I was paging through one of them, dated 1985 or 86, and came across an article about an Italian waste-dumping company that paid a poor Nigerian landowner to *store* a number of barrels of something toxic in exchange for a sum of money. They didn't tell the farmer what was in the barrels which, at the time, looked okay. Eventually, the barrels rusted enough to allow a foul substance to started leaking out of them. So I tried to find an article on the Internet about this--since I no longer have access to those magazines--and I came across this article

In this New York Times article of 3rd Sept 1988, I found both situations--waste being picked up from Nigeria, and this paragraph:

''There's an awful lot of waste floating around Europe,'' said Anthony Brenton, a senior adviser to the European Community's Environment Minister. ''There's rising public concern about it. A number of channels that existed in the past, like dumping in Nigeria, will be closed in the future.'' And: "The ship, the Karin B, picked up the waste in Nigeria on July 30 [1988] and has been searching for a place to unload it ever since." Twenty-two years later, the problem is even bigger and more desperate.

Note: European countries have achieved something close to population stabilisation, and they STILL have tonnes of trash they don't know what to do with. And that's because Europe is overpopulated.

When you think about the number of people dumping trash in Uganda, 8 million people dumping trash is still an awful lot of trash. And yes, we do have recycling programmes. But with a 33m population, even the best recycling programmes are overwhelmed. Also, recycling programmes work best amongst educated people. Our literacy rate hovers around 50%, according to a United Nations report of 6 May 2007.

MARRIED WITH NO CHILDREN: And isn't it so tragically ironic that the very people who produce no children (outside of artificial means)--gay men and women--are to be condemned to death, driven to suicide, or life imprisonment by David Bahati--the German Nazi of our place and time. Gay people are the very ones who can show us how to lead a productive and enjoyable life without children. One does not have to invest their identity in children.

As I said previously, abortion is good. It is not "a necessary evil" as some have said. Very limited abortions are permitted in Uganda--and even they are condemned by the Catholic Church. In a Guttmacher Report, we find this: "Under Ugandan law, induced abortion is permitted only when pregnancy endangers a woman's life. Legal abortions are very rare, given the restricted grounds, the demanding process for obtaining approval (for example, providers typically require certification from three doctors, even though the law does not require this)."

The Catholic Church is quick to point to a passage in their holy book: "Thou shalt not kill" to explain their vigorous anti-Choice propaganda and political actions. But the Pope is completely silent on David Buhati's Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009 which advocates the execution of some gays and the imprisonment of all others who reveal their sexual orientation--and even heterosexual human rights activists who advocate public discussions on this issue.

The Catholic Church says that life is so precious. In fact, it is not precious at all if each and every individual born does not have a healthy diet on a daily basis. Without a healthy diet, the child risks growing up mentally retarded. In addition, education, including college, must be made available to African children and teenagers--just like European and American children have.

Life become precious only with education. And this cannot be realised in an overpopulated country like Uganda. When these and many other factors are taken into account, 8 million was about right.

This isn't just about one man who happens to be a raving hypocrite. This article reflects the attitude of most black Americans. Most black Americans voted for George Bush in 2000 and 2004 because Bush promised a Constitutional Amendment "protecting traditional marriage."

And here you have it right in this article. Bernice King is an active anti-gay bigot. The three closest aides of Dr. Martin Luther King were also anti-gay bigots: Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Dr. Ralph Abernathy, and Rev. Walter Fauntroy. So what would that tell the average person about Dr. Martin Luther King himself? I would say more hypocrisy. It's common for black heterosexual males to wax self-righteous when it comes to discrimination against black heterosexual males. They not only condemn gay people, they also preach that women are to submit to their man. So when Dr. King preached "All God's Children" he came across as a hypocrite as Eddie Long does today.

Why can't we live, work and love one another as equals? And answer is -- in the Bible. Instead of the Bible, people should be reading just as assiduously the works of Abraham Maslow. They should be reading George Orwell's Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, both which explain double-speak and hypocrisy.

If you can't practice what you preach, then what you preach is meaningless and self-discrediting.

As for Coretta Scott King, she was a wonderful person. I commend her for standing up to the bigots in her family, in her church, and the anti-gay bigots in the nation as a whole. But her advocacy for human rights for gay people was pushed aside--after all, she was "just" a woman--and "you know how women are . . .?" say the male chauvinists.

And let me not fail to include Rev. Jerry McAfee who is viewed as the black American community's spokesman and representative in Minneapolis--an ugly bigot who shamed my best friend in public (Tuesday, 17th February 1998 at Lucille's Kitchen) because he is atheist and gay. And being white didn't help him either. Shamed him on KMOJ-FM radio when he wanted to volunteer to be a tutor in the black community. That was more than 12 years ago, and since then he have contributed nothing to the black American community because of their bigotry, hypocrisy and violence. In Washington, D.C. he was beaten up badly by black heterosexual males--1968, 1969 and 1985 resulting in hospitalisation (1968) and out-patient treatment for the other two. Physically, he healed, but the psychological impact remains intact with him.

Black Americans lament: "White America is insensitive to the needs of her black citizens." And when a white American steps forward to contribute his time and experience to black members of "The Village" he's slapped down with derision and public shaming. And when you're on the other end of such hatefulness, it has an enormous emotional impact. Lessons are learned: for a white man: "Stay away from black Americans. They're very punishing people."

Yes there's bigotry in white America too, but one have a much better chance of being viewed as an equal human being by whites than by black Americans.

USA Pastor has right to burn Quran!

When an American follower of my blog sent me these photos of a Confederate Flag below, I knew I had some advice for the world.

Some guy in Hinckley, Minnesota, at a business not far from a Subway Sandwich Shop, put up various blankets for sale, one of them was of this racist flag.

Hinckley, a squat little town in the middle of essentially nowhere is about 250 km south of the Canadian border. The American--who wished to remain unidentified--was sitting in a car taking photos of this blanket. Yes, the American was annoyed with this. But in America there is freedom of expression and he realised that this white man was using the emotions attached to this flag as an advertising gimmick. For those who aren't familiar with this controversial flag, go to Wikipedia, under "Confederate Flag".

True, there are many other images that can attract attention, such as the face of Marilyn Monroe or Shaquille O'Neal, but somebody decided to make a blanket of this racist flag, and the man you see decided to buy it and put it up for sale--along with his other blankets. Even if the Confederate blanket doesn't sell, if it attracts attention and customers to buy his OTHER blankets--the purchase and display of the Confederate blanket was a good investment.

Now that this white man's face is on my blogsite, will anyone make a big issue of this? My advice, as a black African, is to simply ignore the white man and silently boycott his business. Likewise with Pastor Terry Jones, of the Dove World Outreach Center, of a state in the southeast corner of the USA. Americans have in their constitution a First Amendment which guarantees freedom of expression (free press, free speech, free Internet, and even the right for an American to burn an American flag).

Until just recently, I didn't even know who Pr Jones was. But now every one in the world does. My advice is to just let him burn copies of this paper holy book and ignore him. Further advice: boycott all religions.

What puzzles me is this: "The top US commander in Afghanistan has warned that troops' lives will be in danger if an American church sticks to its plan to burn copies of the Koran. Gen David Petraeus said the action could cause problems "not just in Kabul, but everywhere in the world". BBC, 7 Sept 2010.

What is America trying to do with its many wars in the world? Are they trying to protect something? Maybe spread some sort of ideology by force onto other countries? From their many contradictory explanations, I read that one of the reasons is to protect democracy. Democracy must include freedom of unpopular expression. The US Supreme Court has upheld the right to burn an American Flag, and even though conservative congressional representatives tried to make a law against burning the American flag (which their Supreme Court would strike down anyway as unconstitutional), the law was never passed. So if an American can legally burn their flag, then they can legally burn the Judeochristian bible and they can legally burn the Qur'an. And that's the way it should be.

But various bleeding heart christian liberals in the United States are crying out for all of us to respect people's religious beliefs. They are nuts! ALL religions promote violence. I'm sorry, as long as I have any remnant of sanity left in me, I will never respect any religion and the human division, hatred and violence that all of them promote. I am an atheist, I am a humanist.

People in East Africa are sick and tired of Christian fanatics like Joseph Kony, the white American fundamentalists who come to East Africa to teach Africans to hate and kill one another, and here in Uganda and Kenya, we still haven't recovered from the Islamic-led bombings of people watching TV football. More than 80 people have died here in Kampala because of the 11th July 2010 bombings. And we're suppose to respect the moslem religion? Truely, all those who call for respect of people's religions are silly and should be dismissed as lunatics.

When I tell xtians that I don't respect their religion or the moslem religion, they instinctively say: "Well, then there's no reason to respect your religion." One problem: I don't have religion. I don't have a soul to be saved, I am not going before any god on "Judgment Day", I won't be going to "heaven" or "hell". In short, religion is nonsense. Worse, religion is hateful and violent. I respect human rights, democracy, and peace--and religionists don't.

So don't be telling Pastor Terry Jones to not burn the Qur'an. It's his constitutional right to do so in America. If moslems don't like it, they should burn copies of the Judeochristian bible. It should be their right to do so. As an atheist, I do NOT approve of destruction of property and people's lives as an act of protest.

Nigeria has a lot in common with Uganda,not only in natural resources but also in political mindset. They have continue to have inland political segmentation to create more political zones but will this help to strengthen democracy in Africa?

I Met a Nigerian from Lagos state during my evening walk yesterday, and we had a discussion on Ibadan, Oyo State. The people of this state capital want to form a state of their own and separate themselves from the rural people. This, because the heads of state (of Oyo) are so corrupt that they can never bring themselves to share the resources that pour into Ibadan with the rural people.

Nigeria already has 36 states. For that size country, they don't need any more states.

Okay, so what's going to happen is that Ibadan will become a state, and the rural people of Oyo will then create a new capital which will attract more corrupt politicians who will be doing the same thing as the Ibadan politicians.

What they need is to get to the core of corruption throughout the country. And that will only happen when Nigeria has 100% literacy which is needed for a healthy democracy. But education of the masses is bad for the class of corrupt politicians and ministers of religion. Poorly educated people are more likely to listen to, submit and obey corrupt religious and political leaders rather than reason among themselves to determine which leaders will act to benefit of everyone.

I know Nigerians and they are extremely religious people--as are Liberians and most other people in Africa. Although Christians and Muslims project an image that without religion there would be great corruption; in truth, it is because they have religion that there is so much corruption and violence.

Take, for example, the series of bloody riots between Christians and Muslims in Jos, Plateau State. This is because they have been taught to pour their love into a nonexistent god instead of learning to love their fellow man. Secularists (Humanists) are more likely to find non-violent solutions to issues that arise amongst them than religious people who are more likely to engage in bloody violence, confident that their god is on their side.

Besides, since religion appeals to poorly educated people, they lack the ability to reason. Deadly violence is their only way to win the argument.

Christian propaganda says that we can only love our fellow man "through the blood and suffering of Our Lord Jesus Christ--Amen." (The piety of Christians always turns my stomach).

And yet the Christians are themselves responsible for the corruption in their country. But the sheep are taught that if you suffer enough here on Earth, you will get a front seat in Heaven. This must be the reason Christians/Muslims rarely rise up against corruption. It reminds me of the white slave masters in America who taught their slaves that if you work real hard here on Earth, you will be allowed to sit in God's kitchen.

The garbage that people believe in is very sad. There is little hope for Africa, for as long as there is religion, there will be wars and rumours of wars always.

Micheal, am not sure what to say. Am ma mother and would die if i saw my son go thru that. Am so mad at every relative of yours and your father doesent deserve to called a father ....

I wanted to reply her using a full article.I have replied her as if am replying my own. I have done this in a form of a letter below.

Dear Mother:
When I found myself on the streets, every day--every single day--was a struggle just to stay alive. I didn't have time for school for approximately the same reasons many kids drop out of school to work on the farm. Except in my case, I didn't have family, farm, or other industry to help me. I was lucky, however. I was born male. We find thousands of kids every year in Uganda who simply die of starvation, or were abducted for the international sex industry and who end up dead. We don't hear the details from these kids. But I'm alive and learned the English language and became computer literate--so that with me, you can hear from one who managed to survive.

Having been there, like so many others, I pay attention to what happens to kids in other countries. In India, a kid or adult can die in the streets of Calcutta and people just step over them. Eventually, someone comes along and picks up the rotting carcass.

There are many reasons why I'm an atheist. And one of them is the utter irresponsibility of ministers of religion (imams, priests, preachers) who condemn birth control and abortions and who bully their uneducated flock into having as many children as a woman can produce--regardless whether they can support all those children for a full 18 years.

People who give ANY money to any mosque or church have contributed to my difficult struggle just to stay alive. For the kids who died--FIRST blame the religious leaders. And they do lead--to the path of abject poverty and death--all in the name of their nonexistent god. But the uneducated don't know that there is no god.

The religious organisations are tax free which gives them tremendous advantages over commercial businesses. They get away with this through their propaganda of "aiding poor people." First, the religious leaders promote overpopulation (which creates greater demand for diminishing supplies of goods), so the poor turn to their oppressors for help. Hey, this is a fantastic trick that works as long as people believe in the god idea and contribute money to these horrible organisations.

In fact, churches do NOT aid poor people. They create them and keep them in a state of poverty and ignorance in order to milk them of money from their hard-earned wages. Businesses adore religion because multitudes of poor people competing for limited jobs keeps them in slavery. America isn't the only country who thrived on slaves.

Slavery made by religions are an everyday reality here in Africa. This exists here in Africa because we've adopted religions (foreign or local) instead of taking a scientific approach to life. By taking a scientific approach to this problem created by religions, we look at a given area--like the nation of Uganda. We look at wildlife and how much room animals need to survive and sustain their populations. We look at how much water is available to the people of this area and how many hectors of farm land is needed to sustain a given population. We look at the human population to see how many fish will be removed from lakes and streams, and how much wildlife will be removed from the forests. We look at the rate of natural recovery of what humans take. We then look at the garbage generated by humans and what we can do with it. Scientific investigation is difficult--religious explanations are so simple.

The area of Uganda can comfortably support no more than Eight million people. No more than that. With 8 million people held at zero population growth, EVERY child could sleep in a bed--not on the ground. Every child and young adult could have a full education--including four years of college, free of charge. Everyone would have a job. We could more easily control pollution of the land, water and air. But Uganda does not have 8 million college-educated and working people. Ironically--because of severe overpopulation.

But do you hear one single imam or preacher instructing their uneducated flock to limit their families to no more than two children? Do you hear them describe a good life without any children? No. What you hear is condemnation of abortions, birth control, and homosexuality (for those born with this orientation).

The one piece of garbage that is growing in our society is the Bible and the Qur'an. These holy books are murderously harmful to society. Maybe they served some usefulness 2,000-3,000 years ago, but they sure are hell in today's society.

And to answer the question of the mother: Yes, I would like to get an education. I have a sponsor waiting for me in America, but the U.S. Embassy takes my money ($390 per application) and denies me a visa. The American Embassy in Nairobi and Kampala needs to be investigated for this foul practice. I can also take Education in Uganda if the situation enables me.

USA--dealing with voter fraud

In this case, the voter fraud was committed by the Republic Party--and particularly, George Bush. And on top of that, Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices gave George Bush the 2000 election, when all of us (the whole World) know perfectly well that Al Gore won the election by at least a million votes! (Al Gore was the Vice President under Bill Clinton)

This action under the Obama Administration is smart. Finally, poor people, whether they decide to vote Democratic, Green, Independent, Libertarian or Republican--get a chance to vote. All parties are controlled by the rich, but the Republican Party is the party for the Christians and Big Businesses.

This move is smart also because it may ensure one more liberal on the U.S. Supreme Court. Right now, it's tilted toward the conservatives. Decisions, favouring the conservatives is 5-4. With one more liberal in the next eight years, the Supreme Court will finally vote in favour of issues that benefit the workers, civil rights, and Separation of State from Church. I wish if this can happen in Uganda too.

'China executed "several thousand" people in 2009'

Note the young officer wearing white gloves--as though properly positioning the young man to be executed is a clean act. In this photo, I count about 10 young men lined up to be executed. The word "several" means three or more. So "several thousand" would make for busy days, five days a week, every week, every year. And if you look in the background of the attached photo, there are spectators hearing reports from guns and watching bodies slump to the ground. For them, this is exciting entertainment.

The young men in uniforms and white gloves--how do they sleep at night after killing some humans? What is their relationship to their wives, children, neighbours? Yes, some of the condemned have committed brutal crimes. But I suspect the vast majority--like in the United States--have done nothing more than transport heroin, cocaine or marijuana to willing customers. For this business transaction, they were murdered by the State.

And what justifies this horror against fellow humans? In China it's the ideology of Communism. In the United States and throughout Africa and the Arab world, it's the ideology of Christianity and Islam.

How to solve religious fundamentalism.

I did attend the first freethinkers' night in Kampala since the 11/7/2010 bombings in Kampala.I was reluctant to go because I thought,many people will not attend. To my surprised,the number even went up,new faces cropped up and all of them said that they liked the debate which was "Religious Fundamentalism & Terrorism" was very captivating.

The reason religious fundamentalism is dangerous is that once an edict in a religious document has been labeled “the will of God” or “God’s command”, in the mind of the believer that edict is immutable, unchallengeable, and unquestionable.

The fundamentalist believer acting on that edict cannot be persuaded through reason or logic to reconsider his actions or prejudices because to do so would, in his mind, constitute heresy and/or disobedience to the supreme ‘God’.

But I am trying to think of solutions to terrorism. When you are troubled with all the atrocities committed by religions, you can easily run out of options. I have been thinking about the rewards which these terrorists envisions and all the imaginational life styles in the skies. The good life in heaven and the virgins. Now the solution can be, empowering them to work harder here and establish that good life other than imagining it in the skies. We can also find virgins for them to marry! Can this solve the problem?

I personally don't think supplying virgins to these killers would solve the problem. It would only make more problems for the women who are supposed to submit their bodies to these self-hating individuals. If they hate life and themselves so much that they're willing to commit suicide by killing others, one can only imagine the woman they come in contact with would be grossly mistreated.

I don't know much about this aspect of the Islamic religion, but perhaps only virgins in heaven would do--but virgins on earth would not be acceptable to them.

It's all ignorance and insanity with these Islamic men.

This article is about medication that will be available to women worldwide. It's called misoprostol. It is used for ulcers and can save lives of women with postpartum hemorrhages and now it can be used to induce abortions.

Let's consider the last sentence of the article: "As word spreads among women worldwide about what a few pills can do, it’s hard to see how politicians can stop this gynecological revolution." Very carefully written. If it were my article, I would have written "It's hard to see how politicians, husbands, priests and imams can stop this gynecological revolution."

The world's population will reach Seven Billion by next year--2011. I'm hoping, that with this medication, the world will more quickly start experiencing a decline in population--and the Catholic Bishops won't be able to do a damn thing about it! Women will finally take control of their own bodies--and it can't happen soon enough.

With misoprostol, wives can pretend to want another child as much as her husband, but still, unbeknownst to him, be taking the abortion medication because in fact, she doesn't want any more children or any children at all. African/Ugandan women living in anti-abortion Countries can take misoprostol at home without risking arrest.

However, what I fear is that women may be forced to have their blood tested to see if they have been taking abortion medication, and if discovered that they had, would be severely punished. I don't think this will happen because misoprostol will remain legal.

Nonetheless, I'm am pleased to no end to see that Male Dominance is losing its power and that medical science is continuing to push back the Institution of Religion until it withers away--like Communism.

I hope this also leads to women having children only if they want them and have the resources to raise them properly. Misoprostol isn't the end of the line for effective abortion pills. Medical technology will continue to march on to meet the demand.For those who have written on my blogsite that abortion must not be tolerated--my question with a smile is: Gee, what can you do about this?

From Germany to Radicalism for Young Muslims

These are my comments in reply to this article that appeared in a leading US newspaper. You can read From Germany to Radicalism for Young Muslims and then see my comments. A happy life?? Shariah law is many things--all of them anti-human, especially against women, gays, believers in other religions and non-believers. Is "happiness" seeing others socially stunted, living in fear of the self-righteous or tortured? This big mistake here is that the parents taught religion to their children--instead of encouraging that they look to science to explain the mysteries of life and the universe. It happens among Christians as well. Teaching children a "mild", "moderate", for of Christianity can, for some, lead them to seek something more radical--as though the more punishing, oppressive and irrational is living a "truer" form of the religion.

These parents lost their children to religion. How can we turn that into a lesson and a warning for others? The lesson: "Even a little religion can go a long way--to death and destruction." If parents think that by giving their child a faith to live by will make them better citizens--well, learn by observing. Learn from the shock and loss of those who, in all their glorious ignorance, meant well.

As they say: "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions."

With those scriptures,no wonder why Islamic terrorist groups out numbers other religious groups as shown below.Those defending Islam should now advocate to either edit the Quran to match the current world view or it stays in the dark ages where it belongs.
