2010 promises to become an even better year for QuizControl, since from this year on we decided to make QuizControl into an official company. Michiel Rademakers, Ammar Tijani and Martijn Reintjes founded QuizControl Limited in the first week of januari 2010. Besides giving the company more focus, this also allows us to work with more clients and partner with other companies. As you can see 2010 is looking good!

Last week we released a Christmas quizgame on the Spil Portals. So you want to be a Santa asks you 12 questions in 3 categories about your Santa Skills and calculates what kind of Santa you are. This fun test brings you right into the Christmas Spirit!

So you want to be a Santa is localized in 12 languages, features great original artwork and animations, a custom made original soundtrack and is linked to Facebook and Twitter!

Last week we launched our own social media API to easily link our quizzes to the different social networks around there. The first execution of it will be launched this friday in the Santa Quiz for Spil Games. It will feature instant postings to your Twitter stream and your Facebook wall. Next up will be integration of LinkedIn and the local Dutch social network Hyves.

This is just the first step in our mission of social quiz connectivity, so stay tuned!

The Chocoholic test we made for Spil Games has been live for a month and counted almost 4 million plays. This made the game one of the top ranking newcomers on their game platforms for the month of november.

“The Chocoholic Test is a very fun game but also a bit scary because of the  confronting results.” according to one of the players.

A very cool quiz concept launched by Orange UK to promote the Moterola DEXT, their new smartphone targeted to social media addicts. The quiz Friend-O-Meter taps into your Facebook, Twitter and/or MySpace account and pulls out detailed information about your friends. It turns this information into questions about age, status updates and it even pulls in photo’s and asks you about those.

Scores are being kept on time and right answers and the quickest person with the most good answers wins a free Moterola DEXT and the title “Best friend in the UK”!

Unique about the Friend-O-Meter is that it combines data from different social networks into one social quiz, so it’s not just a Facebook quiz, or a Twitter quiz, it’s both! It’s also quite intreging to notice how data-rich most profiles are when you click through the questions. But this gives a one small problem, most people have a lot of “friends” on their profile they barely know and it’s almost impossible to answer questions about those people. But then again, that pretty much makes them not social enough for the title of “Best friend in the UK”.

   think of board games, computer games and even the games you played in the schoolyard.

   Savannah, lions, diamonds and bush men are just some keywords that come to mind.

   A bit of a geeky subject, but you would be amazed about how many people still think Pluto is a planet.
6. Holidays
   What do people know about Eastern and Thanksgiving? Or maybe do a Christmas quiz.
7. Transportation
   We all drive cars or take the subway, but there are a lot of fun facts to be found about transportation. What kind of weird forms of transportation can you google up?
8. Porn Stars
   This subject fits better at a quiz night with friends then at a professional event, but you would be amazed how much your friends know about porn stars.
9. Ants
   It is fun to go all the way at a subject, so come up with 30 questions about ants and you’ll be amazed how much you learn about such a little creature. Of course you can pick any subject and go all the way with that.
10. Quizzes
    A quiz about quizzes can be a bit too much, but it can be a nice joke subject. You can ask questions about Weekend Millionaires, Triviant Pursuit and other quiz games.

During the month of Ramadan a contest was organized on a local radio station in the city of Kismayo. It was a big success, thousands of contestants entered the quiz and answered questions about science, culture and the Koran. The winners received their prize in a special ceremony where they were cheered on by thousands of onlookers. “The reason the young men were rewarded with weapons is to encourage them to participate in the ongoing holy war against the enemies of Allah in Somalia,” Sheikh Abdullahi Alhaq said at a ceremony.

After the civil war that started in 1991 Somalia is ruled by different fractions and warlords. Kismayo, one of the country’s main ports, is ruled by an alliance of local Islamist fractions which imposed a strict form of Sharia, banning sports, DVDs and Western clothes.

Although AK-47s and landmines aren’t the prices we can give away in the western world, it’s interesting to see how incentives and quiz concepts work all over the world in different cultures.

Sinterklaas is weer bijna in het land en her en der is men al druk bezig met voorbereidingen voor een heerlijk avondje. Het grote feest van Sinterklaas heeft tal van tradities zoals liedjes zingen en surprises maken. Maar heb je ook wel eens aan een Sinterklaas quiz gedacht? Dit kan een leuke activiteit zijn voor op pakjesavond, maar past ook heel goed in een e-mailing campagne.

On day 30 the grand price will be given away, a business-class ticket to New Zealand. The grand prize winner will be the Twitterer with the highest point total over the entire promotion period. Points are awarded for correct answers and speedy response times.

Cool thing about this Twitter quiz concept is that all players have a chance to win because of the random selection of a day winner, but the hard core users still have an incentive to try to answer the questions first for the grand price!
