These floors are very difficult to keep clean and safe!

Everyone at RCS (staff and volunteers) works hard to maintain a safe, clean environment for all. And we try hard to keep up a nice clean appearance also. Our current floors make that very difficult to do.

Please consider giving a gift to Religious Community Services on behalf of your friends and family.  A $30.00 donation to RCS will purchase and install one square yard of flooring.

Empty Bowls is an international project designed to fight hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level. Empty Bowls supports food-related charities around the world and has raised millions of dollars to aid in the fight against hunger.

The objectives of this particular Empty Bowls project are:

• Raise as much money as possible to feed hungry people in Craven, Jones and Pamlico Counties.

• Increase awareness of hunger and related issues. Through education, awareness and action, concerned individuals can change human attitudes that allow hunger to exist.

• Advocate for arts education. Nurturing the creative process through the arts enhances the possibility of finding news solutions to old problems.

How does it work?

The Empty Bowls Fundraiser will be held at Temple Baptist Church on Thursday, February 9, 2012. Local restaurants will make, donate and serve soup and bread at the event. Local artists will donate pottery bowls. Attendees get to have
some soup and bread and choose a one-of-a-kind pottery bowl to take home.

We’ll be serving a variety of soups from local restaurants from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church. For just $20 you will receive two bowls of soup, bread, a drink and a one-of-a-kind, locally made pottery bowl. The bonus is knowing that you helped make a difference in your community.
