After Casey posted the well-written NDA and airtight slavery contract from the 2 unnamed entertainment/education and mentoring moguls yesterday, they complained to his web host and the web host shut him down for a DMCA violation:

To get his service restored, he has to fill out an appeal form and submit it to them, so yeah, we don’t expect to see him back up there any time soon.

What is interesting, though, is that they shut him down not because of the stuff he posted, but because they claimed that he had a link to a Rich Dad video (not the video itself, just a link). That’s not a DMCA violation, but you can’t blame them (Gator) for pulling a CYA maneuver. (It also didn’t hurt that their complaint threatened Gator with litigation as well… What would you do if you were receiving 10 dollars/month and someone threatened you over that paltry amount?)

He’s working hard this morning to get his site restored (minus those docs), so we’ll keep you posted.

On first glance, I’m a more than a little overwhelmed. There is a lot of information in this section, and it’s just one of at least seven different sections on the site. Additionally, with all the red my eyes don’t know where to look. What’s most important? Are all the red sections essentially the same content? That’s what I assume since they all share a common look.

As it turns out, though, they aren’t. There are actually four unique sections to this page: the Product of the Week, an ad for their Mortgage Service, the Free Mortgage Guide, and a list of mortgage rates for providers in the UK. These sections definitely need something to distinguish them so that the customer doesn’t have to work so hard to delineate what is what.

Because the top three sections look too much like ads, I’m skipping right to the list of mortgage rates. I like the way the list has all the information I need, but I’m stunned that I can’t sort by each of the different columns. This isn’t really an issue with only five listings right now, but there’s no way I would come back to this page if they had ten or more listings and no way to sort. There are much more user-friendly mortgage information sites that I would pick over this one.

Back up to the ads — or, rather, the top three sections. My first confusion is that they don’t share any sort of common structure. I can click on some elements in one box that I can’t click on in the next. One section has more information available, while the other two don’t. I don’t understand anything more about their purpose than I did on first glance.

Finally, the small font throughout makes things a real chore to sort through.

This looks like a good first shot by the folks at Fool.co.uk, and there obviously was quite a bit of work put into it, but I wouldn’t recommend this particular section to anyone based on how it stands right now. I’m sure that’s why they’re wanting these reviews, though.

Zillow’s strategy seems to be to offer real estate porn to middle-aged homeowners. (”Ooh, look how much my house is worth!”). But as more people begin to realize that the underlying data on the site cannot be trusted, the backlash won’t be limited to just community activists.

As anticipated, Google is now in the real-estate listings business.  If you do a regular search for "real estate" or other similar keywords on Google, two new search boxes will pop down allowing you to refine your search by loaction or listing type ("for rent" or "for sale").  Then you get taken to a Google Base page with the listings plotted on a Google Map (see above).

What does this mean to you? Well, if you’re selling a house, you might want to think about getting the listing into Google Base. If you’re buying, Google’s going to continue to make it easier and easier for you to have one place to search for whatever you’re looking for — including your next house.

And if you’re an traditional real estate agent, there’s suddenly a very powerful, very visible company attempting to disrupt the market. Google’s certainly no Zillow.
