It was finally time to pull the plug and retired the old servers, but there are still a few that either ignored us, or didn’t get the emails for some odd reason.

So this is a final reminder before your site stops working.

We’ve updated several of our sites with no issues. But as always, please be sure to run a backup of your site prior to upgrading, just in case!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: a new WordPress release is available and chock-full of goodies to delight bloggers and developers alike. We’re calling this one “Elvin” in honor of drummer Elvin Jones, who played with John Coltrane in addition to many others.

If you’ve been around WordPress a while, the most dramatic new change you’ll notice is a completely re-imagined flow for uploading photos and creating galleries. Media has long been a friction point and we’ve listened hard and given a lot of thought into crafting this new system. 3.5 includes a new default theme, Twenty Twelve, which has a very clean mobile-first responsive design and works fantastic as a base for a CMS site. Finally we’ve spent a lot of time refreshing the styles of the dashboard, updating everything to be Retina-ready with beautiful high resolution graphics, a new color picker, and streamlining a couple of fewer-used sections of the admin.

What is DropBox?

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. This means that any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website.

Ok so here is a quick guide on how to setup your blog to backup itself to dropbox.

Step 1: Sign up dropbox

Step 2: Install the “WordPress Backup to Dropbox” Plugin

Go to the Dropbox Backup Plugin settings Area:

Step 3: Authorize the plugin to your Dropbox account.

Click Authorize, and enter your dropbox account info.

Fill in your DropBox account login info

 

Click “Allow” To authorize Dropbox to your WordPress Site, then close the window.

 

Go back to your blog tab, and click “continue”

You will now be sent to the Backup settings screen.

Go through all the settings, and set the backup folder name, The date/time it should backup, and the Frequency.

Then you can select all the files you want to be backed-up, which should be everything, so you can just click “toggle all” at the bottom.

Then press save, and you are all set.

Congratulations, your blog and all its files will now be backed-up on the time/date and frequency you selected in the DropBox settings.
