American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy Ranks RI. 9th

The New York Times has reported that Rhode Island is now ranked the 9th most energy efficient state for 2009, according to a survey conducted by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. This is up from its rank of 11 in 2008.

Eight Highly Diversified Renewable Energy Projects Receive Awards

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation’s (RIEDC) Board of Directors and Interim Executive Director approved over $1.2 million in funding from the Corporation’s Renewable Energy Fund for eight renewable energy projects. The awards will create an estimated 21 full and 100 part-time positions.

Newport-Based Medical Device Company Advancing Clinical Development of Snake Robot for Surgery

The Slater Technology Fund announced today that one of its portfolio companies, Cardiorobotics, Inc., has closed on an $11.6-million Series A financing. Slater participated in the financing round, which was led by Eagle Ventures. Since 2007, Slater has invested a total of $750,000 in Cardiorobotics.
