In honor of Earth Week (April 22-26), we decided to focus this post on sustainability and share some simple ways that you can make a difference on campus and at home. RIT has made a big commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, but what does that really mean to each of us?

Your Role in Student Retention

Over the years I have heard some staff members say that they wished they could play a bigger role in RIT’s retention efforts. I’m always surprised that many staff don’t acknowledge the role they play everyday just by fulfilling their basic job responsibilities. Whether it’s ensuring that a maintenance request is completed quickly and efficiently or offering a simple ‘thank you’ when a student is purchasing their lunch.

If you want to meet people on campus and be involved in campus progress, then now is the time to self- nominate or nominate a colleague for one of the open seats on Staff Council for the upcoming year.

Hello Everyone!

This year, Dr. Destler charged the Student Success Steering Committee with looking into the Student Leave of Absence (LOA) Policy with the intention of ensuring that the implementation of the policy still supports student success and also counts them correctly based on new counting methods. This policy is very important to the success of our students and their progression in their degrees, and there are real consequences to taking an LOA for the student and RIT.

Would it help if you could learn some signs to communicate more easily with our deaf students and colleagues?
