A Night of Mommy Time

Well since my daughter is having a sleepover with her daddy tonight, I decided that I should have a little "me" time and attempt some cleaning and pampering. I didn't really succeed with the cleaning but I did get a chance to paint my toenails really cute, highlight my hair and now update my blog =)

Well I'm going to attempt cleaning Ari's changing table at least before I call it a night. The weather is pretty ugly out there so its time to get ready for bed.

P.S I would love to show you my cute toenails but I'm not into feet and even though mine are pretty I just don't think its right to impose your feet onto others. Feet aren't for everyone.

Lent Slip Up

Ash Wednesday was this past week and for Lent I decided that this year I would be giving up buying jewelry. Actually my mom suggested it to me. I never really thought about it but I have become a maniac for costume jewelry and accessories over the past few years. I never thought of it as a "real" issue... but seem it just might be. Today I went to buy some nailpolish at the beauty store next to Walmart and subconsciously..... yes subconsciously bought two pair of earrings. One pair was intended for my sister but thats NOT THE POINT!! I didnt realize what I had done until 4 hours later. How could I be so weak? Its not even 4 days in and I have already broken my Lent promise so to speak. The only way to recitfiy this situation is to of course give the earrings away. I have already included the pair I bought for my sister in her care package I'm sending to her at college tomorrow. I guess I'll have to give the other pair to my mom, even though she will not wear them. I could always give them to Ari,even though they are bigger than her head... .... I must do better and stay stronger. I do feel quite guilty for my little slip up.

So its been a while since my last update but first things first, I would personally like to pay tribute to my scumbag cowork Bill who told me he's totally surprised that my blog is actually good. What the hell?? This coworker of mine is a complete scumbag. Everday he gives me the middle finger. He even gets other coworkers to do it for him. Not only is Bill a scumbag but for some strange reason he thinks he's the boss of me... .which we all know.. I don't answer to scum. My sister had boots like this but with no sequins by Sugar a couple of years ago and she continues to wear them. Every time I ask to borrow hers she comes up with some excuse. So she showed these to me online last week and I knew they were meant for me to have. I had been eyeing the UGGs sequin boots that came out this year and I really just hate UGGs and there was basically no way I was paying $200 for a pair of sequin boots. These boots were around $40 with free two day shipping. SAVVY SHOPPERR!!

Now on to funny babies.My baby is hilarious. She is trying to stand up every chance she can get now. This weekend she did a record 30 seconds on the bed and just busted out laughing when she finally fell. She also thinks "NO!" is a funny game where she tries to touch something dangerous and I scream NO! and she laughs.. ..... funny for now anyways. At 9 months her personality is really coming through.

So I know its 12:26 and I should be sleep but I have been up pretty late this week so its becoming a theme. Work is so busy and I have tons to do and such little time to do it in. I actually brought some of it home with me... I know .... sad. Anyways the holidays were great. I got to spend time with my family here and my family visiting from New Jersey. It was great seeing them because we hadn't seen them in about 3-4 years. This was their first time meeting Arielle and they were smitten by her. Who wouldnt be? lol Here she is on her First Christmas Eve looking like the cutest reindeer ever!!

Anyways New Years Eve wasn't that fun but at least I went out and actually got of the house for a few hrs. Definitely could of been better though. Hopefully its not a sign of what's to come for the year.

Sunday Smunday

Ari is away for the day. And I hate it. But to distract myself I am cleaning. It has literally been an all day process because I have been jumping from project to another. I have been scrapbooking the baby book and thats all scattered on my un made bed amongst the hair bow bows that Ari poured out while I did her hair this morning.. I organized all my earrings and washed, blow dried and flat ironed my hair. What else What else. I organized this junk box i have under my computer stand and I packed away some summer clothes. But I am no where near done. Maybe I should not be on the internet blogging lol.

This week should be nice at work. We will be getting free food 3x.. and I mean.. free food is pretty much the best kind of food. We have a company christmas lunch on Tuesday and then we have another Christmas Lunch at this Country Club and then finally we get free lunch on Fridays.. so thats the only thing work wise I'm looking fwd too.. besides our maybe/ maybe not bonuses. I hope we do get our bonuses because the Sweet Lord knows we all need and deserve them..

My sister is coming home in an hour or so for her Winter break from college. She's going to be disappointed that Ari isnt home and wont be back til tonight. *lol* Ari is getting so fiesty she actually is starting to remind me a lot of how my sister was when she was a baby.. Oh boy.. lol O_o

2012 is just around the corner and I know its cliche to say but things are rally going to change this year. In order to get the things I need done and to be satisfied I'm going to have to put my foot down, close some doors and just focus on solely me and my daughter. It'll be hard and it won't be immediate but come this time next year things will be better for me.. They just have to be. 2011 was all over the place but having Arielle has been the best thing to happen to me and I am so blessed for it.

With this holiday season among us, I will concentrate on not sweating the small stuff and just enjoy being with my loved ones and handling end of the year business. No time and room for stress and negativity.

So at work I tend to online browse daily. It's a nice break from the numbers all day. Anyways I was on Forever21 a few weeks ago and I saw a really cute Marilyn Monroe Graphic sweatshirt for $19.99. I would post the picture but I think its sold out. But here's an example of another graphic shirt they had that I liked for $14.80

I really wanted it but obviously I was too slow. Fast foward to last week, I was at my home away from home.. a.k.a Walmart and my sister and I were looking for some leggings for her to wear. I just happen to glance at their graphic tee section and spotted an even cuter Marilyn Monroe Tshirt

It was only $7.50 but marked down for $5 bucks!! OWww OWww.. So I ended up buying it and pairing it up with a black blazer, pearl chain necklace, jeans and grey high heels. Just goes to show its not always best to jump at the first price you see for an item. There can always be a better deal elsewhere.

Thanksgiving Wrap Up and Such

This little;long holiday was nice. My sister came home on Tuesday night and it's always nice having some extra company and help in the house every now and again. Wednesday at work we were all hoping for a half of day but we were denied and shut down lol. Needless to say not much was done regardless. Thursday I got up early to prepare for the day. I started off by making one of my coworker's "sausage thingys" She's our on staff chief lol. Check her out at Babeosbits . She always has tons of great recipes to share. I did a pretty awesome job if I do say so myself and I will be making those again soon. After breakfast I got Arielle dressed so we could go spend a little time with her Dad and his family. I could only stay for a little bit because we hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year and I wanted to make it back in time to set up and do a second outfit change for Ari. Only true diva-ettes have two Thanksgiving Outfits. Later on when my family came over to the house we grubbed on tons of food( as one should do on Thanksgiving). After listening to my dad and his sisters' crazy childhood stories about backwood monsters that they called neighbors and friends lolol , my sister and I went to the movies to see Breaking Dawn!!! It was really good. *Spoiler* There was sex.. A pretty good sex scene too. lolol.I mean it was no Tru Blood type of sex scene but it was pretty impressive for Twilight. I'm still working on finishig the book. We went out on Black Friday after all the crazy crowds and I managed to get a start on some christmas shopping and Arielle's first Christmas dress. I need two though because we will be going to 2 different parties on 2 different days. Last night we went to a retirement party and its really awesome how your baby wants to make the most noise during speeches and prayers lolol. Arielle was in rare form and thought yelling out during the husbands speech to his wife would be a great idea to draw some attention. By 10 oclock she was practically delirious and thought everything was sooo funny. After a bottle and a rock to sleep she was down for the count though lol. Now its Sunday and tomorrow is.... dreaded Monday. *blah* hopefully the week will go by fast and painless. Ok gotta go b4 the munchkin wakes up from her nap.

Babies R Awesome

Maybe I'm a little bias, but .....babies are awesome. It blows my mind how fast Arielle has grown these past 7 months. She is already holding her bottle, sitting up, crawling, slapping me... I mean she is really picking up on things pretty quick. And its so great to watch. Everytime I look at her I think.. :wow I made that:: I can't wait to see her personality unfold in the next few months.. years.. decades.. I need to find her a really cute Thanksgiving outfit and Christmas Dress. Shopping for babies is only hard because there is so many great things to choose fun. And you could buy it all but that would be dumb, unless you legitimately plan on having a baby fashion show. where as your baby will crawl down your homemade cat walk and strut her stuff in her duds. and then throw up all over them...... (Picture it) Anyways I think I'm going to go for a Red dress for Christmas.. My mom says she thinks it should be white.. but what does she know.?? lol Don't even get me started on Christmas. I don't know all I'm going to buy but I know it was be fantastical. I will have to remind myself that she will only be 8months and be more interested in the wrapping paper. Flu Shots = No Fun for Baby

Yesterday I took Ari to her 6month check up. First of all, I am not a big fan of her pediatrician's office. There's far too many children running around and screaming in the waiting room. Just unruly little heathens, coughing and sneezing and just annoying me. What annoys me more is the parent that has 6 of them and doesn't say a word to not one of them. No discipline whatsoever! Like "hello lady your child is about to be smacked if it comes near my baby's stroller again" .. I'm just saying!. Anyways when I got there the door was locked and there were about 6 different families all waiting to get in. None of the geniuses knew why the door was locked but everyone continued to stand there with their screaming rugrats like zombies. So finally, I being the smartest person alive,got my cell phone out and called the office. Long behold the rocket scientists working the front desk didn't seem to know the door was locked. REALLY?? You just thought everyone was late for their afternoon appointments. After finally getting in and seeing the doctor, she suggest that I get Ari a Flu Shot.. Against my better judgement, I decided that I would go ahead and do so because I would feel really guilty if she ended up sick later on.

Fast Forward through the rest of the day. Ari was fine didnt show any signs of not feeling well. If anything I just assumed she was tired and a little sore from her leg shots. I had given her tyenol drops immediately after the immunizations and again before she went to bed just in case.

At 3am I woke up and instinctively just felt her head and she was burning up.. I always think my daughter feels warm and am constantly asking "does she feel hot to you?".. usually that question is followed by a "nooooo rachelllle" Anywho, this time I was for sure that I wasn't freaking out. I took her temp and it was 102.2. So I woke up my parents and called the children's emergency room and before they could even call me back I decided I would bring her to the ER regardless.

We got to the ER 3am and they took her temp., gave her a larger dose of tyenol drops and took a urine sample from her. She was miserable and hated every minute of it. At one point I had to help hold her down for the urine sample and she just cried and cried and looked in to my eyes like "momma whyyy" =( Very sad stuff. But thankfully they said the fever was probably just a reaction to the damn Flu shot and I took my babybear home to rest.

My little patient had a rough morning.

I am sure you can tell by now and I will not deny the fact that I am a girly girl. Pretty much always have been... except during that TLC stage where it was cool for girls to wear baggy shirts...flannels.. timbs.. *shivers* and *quenches*

Anyways!!!... I have no nail polish on .. As I went to bed last night I really fought myself about the decision to go "naked nails" today. In my delirium.. (sp?) I decided that it would be fine . WRONG.. its not fine.. Its almost as bad as not wearing earrings... *gasps* I feel like I should carry around a basic pair of stud earrings should I lose my mind one day and rush out of the house without earrings on..

No nail polish.. no earrings.. this is crazy talk!

I would post a pic but I dont want you to see the horror. or to relive this online over and over again.

Tonight I will not rest until my nails are painted.. even if i miss the nail and get it all over my cuticles and finger tips.. nails will have color and that will be that.

It wouldnt be so bad if I at least had clear on.. Natural nails can look quite nice sometimes. But these claws are looking a hot mess. thats right.. a hot mess

Back to working..and typing and looking at my naked nails I go.

Soda does not = J-Lo Abs

This blog is about.....soda...

Growing up my parents always kept soda in the house because they were avid drinkers of it and they still are. I always thought it was normal to have soda with all your meals; especially breakfast. When I went away to college I really stopped drinking soda as much and at first it was strange but I got used to it. I would only drink juices and water for the most part. And up until this year I had pretty much kept to my regiment. What really got me drinking soda hard core again was having Ari. I didnt drink soda besides an occasional sprite during my pregnancy. But when Ari was born I was so afraid that I was going to fall asleep and not wake up with her every two hours. So I would have at least 3 sodas a day. Even when she got into somewhat of a bedtime routine I still continued to lean on soda as a pick me up. Now I'm realizing that I may need to cut soda out of my diet... especially if I want to get J-lo abs ...lololol .

I will still drink my weekday morning coffee, juices and I will include way more water. I dont really expect to have J-lo abs guys lol (it was just an exaggeration) but I know for sure that soda will not help me tighten up this little bit of baby fat that I have. I will have to be careful with the juices though, because sometimes they contain just as much, if not more amounts of sugar. May favorite is juice is Apple Juice.!! Walmart has a really good sugar-free brand too. I will have to ease off of the soda to at least only one coke or sprite a day and then eventually one a wk..until it'll be one every now and again.

Reallllll awesome blog about soda.. I know... Least I didnt tell you the history of soda and who discovered it and where it was first manufactured and how much the first soda cost and where it was sold and so on and so on.... be thankful

Men & Women: where are we??

Its 8 oclock at night and Ive had a long day at work. The baby is sleep and I'm just sitting here reflecting on how crazy things are with men and women today. And no this isnt going to be a male bashing thing. We women got a lot to work on ourselves. Also this is just my opinion and although I like to believe I'm right about most things.. maybe you don't feel the same way ... and thats fine (even though you're probably wrong lol jk)

I know its so cliche these days to say it.. but I'm going to say it... What the hell happened to chivalry?? Men can you personally and positively say you are a MAN. 1. Do you take care of yourself?? ie: clean yourself, pay your own bills, can you cook your own food, clean and iron your own clothes?? Fix your own car? Clean your own house? 2. How do you treat the women in your life?? Do you treat the woman your with the respect you treat your mom or sister with? Would you be happy if your sister was with a guy who treated her like you treat your woman?? Are you obtaining relationships with women you are interested in a future with or just seeking instant sexual gratification? 3. How are you balancing your life.?? Are you pursuing your long term goals financially and career wise?? Do you have health insurance? Are you working on building yourself up for a family in the future?

Women, what about you? 1. Are you taking care of yourself . Can you cook your own food, do your own laundry, clean your own house, at least take your care of your car maintanence and needs, pay your own bills?? Do your own hair and nails.. *if you cant do that your sad..just my opinion though*2. Are you loving and respecting yourself? Are you involving yourself with men that don't share the same wants as you? Are you spending time with yourself and enjoying it! Can you love yourself without male attention or sexual gratification? 3 Are you balancing your life? Are you covering your grounds financially, physically and emotionally? Pursuing your career goals and still making plans to help raise a family in the future?

With that being said. It's not just us 20 somethings out there that are trying to figure all this out. All around me Im witnessing adults who have been married for years and years who apparently never took the time figure all this stuff out before deciding to commit to one another. Now after 10-20+ years people start to discover that time is passing them by and they have just been going through the motions in order to keep everything in order and routine. It really blows my mind for me to find that women and men 20 years older than me go through same thing I do at this age. Makes you almost feel hopeless for the future.

I feel like men for whatever reason aren't doing their part as men and women are not doing their part and everyone is just complaining and excepting it. And believe me its way easier said than done but you really have to love yourself fully and get your priorities together in order for you to really do you part in a relationship. If both people are only giving 50% then you aren't giving it your all.

Men if you want women to cook you a nice meal at the end of the day..don't nag her to do it.. "oh you probably can't cook" will not work lol ... pay attention to her and when she does cook ...compliment it. Women may seem complicated and trust me some of us are.. but I think the majority really appreciate the little things that you have to give and that we just want to feel respected. Women there's nothing wrong with cleaning your mans clothes and cooking him dinner as along as he is taking care of you as well. You don't have to feel like its subservientt to do so. You are playing on one team not against each other.

Men if you want a clean house.. don't add to the mess. If you come in from work.. don't leave your coat on the floor, your plate on the table.. your drawls on the bathroom floor lol.. If you take the time to keep up after yourself .. women would feel like you appreciate the fact that she keeps the house clean.. Shoot a little yard work without having to be asked wouldnt hurt either.

Women if you want your man to take you out more. Don't nag him when he goes out with the boys or is stuck to the Xbox playing Madden. Let him have his down time as well. Don't always be so readily available yourself.. If he's out with the boys.. go out with your friends too or go do what you like to do. If you don't always constantly depend on each other for entertainment, it will make the time you do spend together less forced and more frequent.

Men just because you pay a few bills for your ,don't think she owes you something and don't constantly bring it up. Despite popular belief, there are some women out there that like to take care of themselves and if they do need you to help out from time to time they certainly dont want you to keep tabs about it.

Women it's ok to accept help when you need it but don't stop doing what your doing to take care of yourself.

Taking care of yourself doesnt mean just in case you need to leave a relationship, it just means being able to be a full person to the equation.

Men and Women will never agree on much. But I don't think we need to settle for less of each other and more importantly of ourselves.

Don't disrespect the Animal Prints

I wanted to write a really deep blog about something that has been plaguing my mind all week But honestly I can't find the words to express how Im truly feeling. Give me some time, it'll come to me..
In the mean time I thought I'd write about one of my pet peeves....

Mis Matching Animal Prints!!! Ahhhhh!!!

Animal prints (especially leopard print) is definitley a must have in every woman's wardrobe. It's fun and sexy and if done right screams class. Now I am definitely not oppose to mixing animal prints with other prints such as:

That looks very cute.. but this ....not so much

Dont get me wrong.. I dont hate it.. but I certainly don't love it..

I understand the fashion fowardness of it , but certain boundaries shouldnt be crossed in the animal print world.

Also keep your animal print fashion in this decade. Yes animal print has been around for at least 2 decades but everything in the 80's doesnt need to come back... ie:

All in all animal prints are awesome.. don't go against the grain and try to be retro or different. Just think fierce and classy and you should be alright..

Lesson 1: Personally I find there's nothing wrong with shopping at the 10/20$ shops such as Dots. The problem comes when you decide that you want to buy the outfit straight off of the mannequin. Department stores of that nature tend to be a bit "extra" with it's matchy matchy match theme. But if you have yellow earrings with a yellow belt and a yellow shirt, you begin to look like a elementary school student. Instead try purchasing a few basic pieces to add to your wardrobe. Such as belts or basic color tanks and tees to pair under cute cardigans for example.

Lesson 2: If you aren't living that lifestyle don't break your neck or you're bank trying to have a Louis Vuitton purse when you are only on a NineWest budget. Its ok to splurge sometimes and treat yourself to what you really want. And if you are in fact balling... by all means..proceed lol. Remember at the end of the day you are your best accessory. Name brands are great to have if you can afford them but they shouldn't come before important financial obligations. Work the clothes don't let the clothes work you.

Lesson 3: You get what you pay for. Sometimes going for a lesser brand gives you lesser quality. When purchasing such items think about where you plan on wearing it, how often do you think you'll wear it and if the upkeep is going to be worth it in the long run.

I am for one have no shame in stating that I live for sales and enjoy trendy affordable stores like Forever 21, TJ MAXX and such. Sure who wouldn't want to have all the lastest namebrands and so-called finer things in life, but as a new mommy I definitely am glad that when it comes to fashion I have a great sense of who I am as a person and don't need labels to define me or my style.

The point is you can still look great in no matter what you have on. Fancy brands aren't going to make you look like Beyonce. And don't go by the book when it comes to shopping lesser brands.

Shop classy and savvy , not cheap and trashy.

I love pretty things and more importantly I love leopard.! Anyone that really knows me knows the obssession has grown strong over the past 5 years. My room is leopard, my purses are leopard, I have leopard jewelry and from time to time my nail polish is leopard print. My aunt once said, "If you see a woman that has everything leopard.. run..she's usually crazy".. and to that I say... "don't judge me"

I'm starting to think I need an intervention though. Last week I bough a leopard stapler. LOL pratical and fashionable!. Anyways I'm not going to dedicate this whole blog to leopard print (even though I could) .....Let's move on shall we.

In other news Arielle is 3 months old and she is growing so fast. It's crazyyy!! Shes already trying to make words and I swear she thinks she's at least 8 years old. Definitely going to be a strong willed little kid. Everyday is something new and amazing.

Well I went to walmart this afternoon... since I pratically live there, that's really no big surprise. But anywaysssss.. The cashier checking us out thought that Ari was just the cutest little baby and said she looked like a Gerber baby. Then she went on to tell me how her friend has a baby who is a gerber baby and had entered a photo contest and got all these neat prizes. And she suggested that I try it out... So sure why
