The Beast has been one of Brooks’ most popular running shoes for years, but with several new technology advances, the new Brooks Beast Running Shoes have even more to offer runners. This shoe is exceptional for runners with either low arches or flat arches as well as those with excessive pronation.

Now the Beast features a full-length MOGO midsole that has a cushy soft feel from the first time you put on the shoe, without any sacrifice to stability. Both in-house and third-party testing showed that the new MOGO material offers a 40% increase in cushioning, 22% more energy return and 33% less fatigue than the older midsole that Brooks used.

The midsole also has dynamic viscous fluid units in both the heel and forefoot areas to further enhance midsole cushoining. These units attenuate shock with industry-leading dampening which leads to further comfort for the wearer.

Their patented midsole/outsole compound works to both further progressively dampen the forces of energy that happen during the contact phase of running, but they also enhance resilience under the metatarsals which results in a significantly more powerful propulsion. Also included in the midsole is Brooks’ progressive diagonal rollbar which is biomechanically engineered to assist with pronation control and help to create a smoother transition from the midstance phase into the all-important propulsion phase.

Finally the midsole includes shanklike thermoplastic tuning devices that can be added either singly or in pairs to adjust the stiffness for either additional stiffness or less stiffness depending on the gait. This ability to adjust a shoe to a specific runner is part of what makes Brooks legendary among shoes.

The high-durability, rubber compound used on the outsole provides a high degree of abrasion resistance for much longer wear. The compound also made with dispersed silica which results in incredible traction in both wet and dry conditions (ASTM F 489-96 slip resistance) for excellent skid-resistance. The silica also makes for a much more environmentally friendly composition (silica is basically sand).

Both the midsole and the outsole components are configured in such a way to place the foot in an ergonomic, balanced, efficient position as it moves all the way from the heel strike through toe-off. This offers maximum motion control and flexibility which minimizes the risk of injury and reduces fatigue which in turn maximizes endurance and performance.

The upper includes a sockliner for comfort, moisture-managing elements in both the linings and the mesh upper, and synthetic overlay materials for both support and durability. The moisture-managing material provides some degree of weather protection as well without sacrificing breathability, durability, or comfort.

Overall, for those runners who need an adaptable shoe to meet their specific needs, the Beast has become a favorite. By users, it’s rated as a stable, breathable shoe that is excellent at shock absorption, is comfortable and has good traction. The main negative is that it’s a heavier shoe, but given the level of support and cushioning, that’s really not too surprising. Most people who rated the Brooks Beast running shoes run on pavement, in a gym, or on a track, and rate themselves as casual adventurers rather than hardcore runners or competitive athletes.

For those trail runners who need or want a more economical option in trail shoes, New Balance trail running shoes offer a complete line of shoes that have been designed and built specifically for off-road running. There’s no need to spend a small fortune on a pair of shoes to find a pair that can handle the extremes of rough trail conditions yet still provide the cushioning and support that your need.

Unless you are a hardcore trail runner, you should be able to find a New Balance model that fits the bill.

MR790 / WR790 – This lightweight shoe features a synthetic mesh upper for breathability coupled with additional protective panels and a toe stop to protect the shoe and your feet from rocks and other objects. The outsole is made of a somewhat more durable rubber compound than standard running shoes for increased wear over rough ground, and the lug configuration makes these shoes acceptable for both on- and off-road use. Finally, the tongue is gusseted to prevent trail debris from entering the shoe.

MT840 / WT840 – This extremely durable and versatile shoe features great fit and performance. It features breatheable mesh uppers as well as a seamless “phantom” liner for increased comfort and fit. The laceless support system ensures the shoe is snug around the foot without the possibility of snags. The shoe also features “N-Grip” tacky rubber on the outsoles that extend partway up the sides of the shoe for improved traction even in wet, slippery conditions. With extra cushioning in both the heel and forefoot areas along with a fully gusseted tongue, this shoe is ready for any trail you can handle.

MR904 / WR904 – This ultra-lightweight performance trail shoe is made for the serious trail runner. It features a transitional support system to help create a smooth transition from the heel strike to the toe-off which leads to less fatigue. It’s built around a “stability web” that adds mid-foot support while reducing the weight of the shoe. It also features a seamless liner made of “lightning dry” which helps wick moisture from your feet to keep them as dry as possible. Finally, the outsoles are built around lighter foam than traditional midsole foam.

MT609 / WT609 – This basic all-terrain shoe featured a ruggedly durable outsole for long wear on rough trails as well as impact-absorbing cushioning in the heel for long-wearing comfort. The all-terrain outsole combines a standard running pattern with trail lugs for both on- and off-road use.

MT875 / WT875 – This shoe was designed with exceptional cushioning and ground contact in mind. It also features a wicking liner for maximum moisture transfer away from your feet to prevent blisters, but the liner is a “lockdown liner” which also helps prevent your foot from moving around in the shoe. An “Abzorb” Strobel Board runs the full length of the shoe to maximize comfort and shock absorption and its aggressively lugged outsole gives the absolute best traction available for off-road running.

New Balance trail running shoes offer a wide range of off-road shoes, both for those who need dedicated trail shoes and for those who are looking for a shoe that can handle many different running surfaces.

The Salomon trail running shoes have been designed from the ground up for running on trails and off-road. These aren’t some re-worked street shoes. Everything from the materials that Salomon has selected to the design and construction has been chosen to maximize performance and safety in trail running environments.

The soles on Salomon Trail shoes are designed to handle the uneven terrain found along unpaved trails. The shape of the sole is wider than with standard running shoes, which gives more lateral support. The tread is deeper than typical shoes – almost as deep as hiking boots in some models – and is designed with flex-grooves at the front of the shoe ad well as self-cleaning, multi-directional lugs to give you just the bite you need on loose trails. Finally the sole material is more durable yet still provides the grip needed in rough conditions.

The lower sides of the Salomon trail shoes are reinforced for extra durability. They can handle the scuffs and abrasions that are common when running on trails when lesser shoes would be ripped to shreds. They also include extra support low on the show to continue to provide extra stability and support for lateral movements.

The quick-drying breathable uppers help keep your feet dry, and the fully gusseted tongue has attached material at the sides to keep debris (sand, gravel, sticks) from entering the shoe. While this seems like a small feature, typical running shoes do not have gusseted tongues, which is why they always seem to get sand and rocks in them very easily.

This is a detail of today’s Salomon Trail-Running family:

S-Lab XT Wings – Built to be incredibly light yet still have the responsiveness required on the trail. These are the absolute top-of-the-line trail shoes, designed for racing.

XT Wings GTX – Balance of cushioning and agility, these shoes are great all-around shoes – they are even available in a waterproof version for all-weather running.

XA Pro 3D Ultra and Ultra GTX – While still very trail-worthy, the extra cushioning built in to this line makes them equally at home on the trail or the track.

XT Wings & XT Hawk – Both of these mid-priced shoes are built to maximize lightness and cushioning for both speed and power.

XA Comp 3 – This classic trail runner is designed for traction and comfort for both competitive and recreational adventure runners. This shoe is also available in a waterproof version – the XA Comp 3 GTX.

Speed Comp – A great competition runner, this shoe combines strength, cushioning, and performance in a very lightweight form.

Trail Runner 3 – This is the lowest-priced Salomon trail shoe, and it is designed with extra cushioning for comfortable training. This shoe is available in a Gore-Tex weatherproof version – the Trail SCS GTX.

Whether you are a new runner who prefers spending your time on trails rather than pavement or a competitive adventure runner, You can’t go wrong with any of the shoes in the Salomon Trail Running Shoes family. They are made to be put to the ultimate tests – running on rough, rocky, uneven trails in the worst of weather. If you can handle it, these shoes can too!

Welcome to our site! Here you’ll be able to find many suppliers of all kinds of racing running shoes in exactly the brand, style, size and even color that you’re looking for. With the wide variety of choices available, you’ll be able to find the shoe you need whether you’re a weekend exerciser who’s just trying to get into shape or you’re about to run your 20th Boston Marathon.

It’s very important to have a running shoe that fits properly. Contrary to what the guy at the shoe store might have told you, with running shoes it’s critical that your toes can never touch the front of the shoe. For this reason, you might consider going up one size or at a minimum one half-size. During long runs, your toes need to be free of any rubbing or pressure or you’ll have problems with either blisters or your toenails.

Once you’ve found the right size for your feet, you should try on several different styles and brands of shoes. While we all like to have nice looking shoes, when you’re running, your shoes protect your feet, ankles, knees, and even hips. Fit and design are significantly more important than color. Many runners stick with the same brand and style of shoes for years. Once you’ve found the right combination for your feet and gait, sometimes it’s just not worth going through a change.

Of course, durability is also a factor. If you’re running a long race, you really don’t want a shoe to give out on you. You’ll want to replace your running shoes before they show much external wear, anyway. The cushioning inside the shoes tends to break down well before the exterior parts (unless you’re very rough on your shoes), and this cushioning is what protects your body from the constant pounding abuse from contact with the pavement.

A good pair of running shoes can even help with shin splints in some cases. This pain is caused when the muscles at the front of your leg are overpowered by the muscles in the calf. While stretching of the calves can help and should be done, a lighter shoe also helps by eliminating a small amount of weight that the front leg muscles has to lift. An ounce or two may not seem like much, but over the course of a long run, that’s quite a bit of extra lifting.

Modern running shoes have soles that are designed to improve traction and cushioning in many different environments. However, if most of your running is done off-road, a good pair of trail shoes might be a better fit than your standard running shoes. It’s even possible to find running shoes that are waterproof, but you’ll want to make sure that you’re not sacrificing breatheability. Otherwise the sweat from your feet will quickly become a much bigger problem than the rain water coming in from outside.

If you’re uncertain on which brands to consider, visit a local 5K or 10K and take a look at the feet of the first finishers. They are likely die-hard runners and only wear shoes that perform. Many times these brands and styles are less expensive than the more advertised brands that hire celebrity endorsers. Again, it’s important to find racing running shoes that are comfortable, durable, and made for your specific needs. So take a look and get running!
