I've always had a soft spot for Edward Burns, and his accent. His new(ish) movie Newlyweds is getting a lot of great buzz and I'm definitely going to check it out when/if it plays in my town.

Which reminds me, when the hell are theaters going to start charging less for admission to independent films? People should expect to pay $9 to see massive Blockbuster movies like Mission Impossible 3 . . . but why are we paying the same price to see small, independent films? I would go to so many more movies if there was some sort of sliding scale based on the movie's budget. Right??

I discovered this beautiful series on Beetlebung Farm by photographer Gabriela Herman (via A Well Traveled Woman's Tumblr) and fell in love. These are obviously very glamorous shots of farm life but they still make me crave summer (and this food) like whoa. . . hopefully this summer we will actually get organized enough to host a "farm field dinner" for our friends.

When you get home kinda tipsy and go to brush your teeth one of two things might happen. One is that you look at your face an inch away from the mirror and try to expel any visible blackheads with unnecessary force (which often leads to new pimples in the morning), the other is a vain self portrait session your iPhone. Guess which one (or two) things I ended up doing to ring in the new year? Played around with Pixlr o'matic the next day to make the photos heavily edited. Pixlr o'matic is a free app for your smart phone but you can also use all the techniques on your computer as well. sah-weet.

These "Bad Lip Reading" videos were created way back in October but it somehow took me two months to learn of their existence. My sister Alden and I were sharing our favorite Youtube videos at Christmas (it's the new tradition right?) and when she showed me these i almost peed in my pants. I've probably watched the Michele Bachmann one 10 times by now and i'm still not sick of it's nonsensical genius.

The BLR videos for Hermain Cain and Mitt Romney are also hilarious. But nothing beats Michele proclaiming "and where i'm from, momma gets a what-what. You know I represent."

Below is a perfect example of how America is rapidly going down the shitter (albeit a pretty funny one). Six year old child pageant contestant Alana is a piece of work, a true performer, but she totally frightens me. . . no wait, her MOM frightens me. Making her young daughter show the judges her ample belly and feeding her "Go-Go" juice? WTF is in that shit? No doubt it's contributing to Alana's weight gain (and Type 2 Diabetes i'm sure).
