Maximum Rock 'n' Roll eppy-sode of RadiOblivion, pally!!

Globe trottin' around the world with Michael Kaiser; finding POUNDERS galore in every corner of said big blue ball. From Indonesia (?!) we present the Punk Rock stylings of the Jones. Then we stop by the "Show Me State" (that's Missouri for ye foreigners) for the heavy Fuzz Bass Rock 'n' Roll of the Nevermores. Next, hailing from opposite coasts of the land of Mooooses, we offer the TVees and the Liquid Vapours; and then we get a double-header by Swiss aces the Weightlifters followed by the primitive sounds of Massachusetts noodniks, Evil Bill. From "The Land of Enchantment", New Mexico comes the garage savage-ness of the Scrams followed by another twofer by Washington's Basemint. San Diego, California was swell enough to offer us, and the world, the Dirtbag Surfers; and Iowa, of all places, loaned us the Delstars for a quick spin around the planet. We end the journey in Russia to check out the monster sounds of the King Kongs.

Kings of Leon, Beyonce, Zac Brown Band, Jason Mraz, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Phoenix, Maxwell, Jay-Z... Who are these people?! The boys stopped by the virtual studio after a band rehearsal to spin some tracks and tales about the band, as well as the burgeoning music scene in France. We played 4 tracks off their brand new LP "Kahlua", a few off their 4 song 7" EP, and a slew of live tracks - including the audio from two videos recorded at the Surfer Joe Summer Festival by Unsteady Freddie hisself!

Michael Kaiser, along with Monster That Challenged World, brings y'all the 1st eppy-sode o' RadiOblivion for 2010, Clyde!

Super Action Blast Sonic Boom edition crammed into a bite-sized, 36 minute aural pummeling kicking off with legendary Punk Rock pounders the Armitage Shanks (named after a British toilet company!) and Wild Billy Childish & the Musicians of the British Empire! Other wild and primitive acts include: the Micragirls (my new favorite band!) from Finland; Atomic Suplex - who will knock yer choppers out with their sheer savage-ness; Georgia swamp-stompers the Shathouse Rats; French-fried Surf by the Taikonauts; killer Instrumental/Surf by One Fathom Down; even more Surf sounds by Get Three Coffins Ready from Colorado (home of one of the greatest Surf bands ever, the Astronauts); the amazing Ragwater Revue; and, of course, everybody's favorite flakes: the Flakes!

Most of the tracks played this eppy-sode were taken from Music Alley - the old Podsafe Music Network. Bands, If'n I were you I'd upload yer songs there!

You know, one of the hardest things about doing this show is coming up with the episode blurb! I think I’ve abused every adjective available to the point of it being criminal.

So, here we go: Presenting eppy-sode 35 of RadiOblivion on the GaragePunk Podcast Network. Over 1 hour and 12 minutes of Wild Sounds and Rock ‘n’ Roll to move and groove and satisfy yer soul, baby! Lots of great stuff taken from the Podsafe Music Network. In fact, I think this is the first episode to feature more current bands than the old killers. Personally I prefer the stuff from the ’50s and ’60s, but there was so much great newer tracks available this go-round. Actually, only two tracks from the days of yore are included. That’s weird.

You know, anybody that denies that Lux Interior and Poison Ivy are the reasons that garage punk, and primitive rock and roll is as popular—if one can use that term—as it is today doesn’t know what they’re talking about!

This 33rd eppy-sode of RadiOblivion starts and ends with personal favorite tracks by The Cramps. It could easily have been a whole show of nothing but The Cramps, but sandwiched betwixt those cuts are some more KILLER songs by such acts as The Cave Men, The TVees, Los Hories, Link Wray and His Ray Men, The Purple Things, Nautiloids, Rodney and The Blazers, The Retrospex, and more!

If you would like to read some of my personal memories of The Cramps visit Michael Kaiser’s Haus. Others have expressed the same sentiment, but if it were not for Lux Interior there would be no RadiOblivion, baby!
