Candela is the singing duo Emlyn and Jodie O'Regan (Jodie also plays the piano). If you've ever wondered what happens behind the closed doors of the closed rehearsal, find out here...
We've been struggling with illness in the house, and our SCALA performance (which went really well I think) came at us like a freight train. There are more recordings of the process leading up to the gig to post, and I'll get them up here asap, so please stay tuned!

It's just a 30 minute spot at a pub, but it's got to be all original material, and we've only got two songs ready to go at this stage (and even they are shakey!)

It begins with us trying to come up with the list of 10 songs to polish up for the performance. These are all songs that we've written in the past, but haven't looked at for years (in the case of Jodie's work), or haven't ever polished to performance standard (in the case of Emlyn's).

Then, after moving through some rather silly musical moments, Jodie hits the (really rather out of tune) piano and trys to remember some songs, doing a sterling job and making some fine music in the process!

First Post

Hi Readers/Listeners

This is a combined blog and podcast of Candela's rehearsals. What you'll hear is the tricky negotiation & communication process of a band putting together original music. Drama! Crankiness! Cups of Tea!

You'll also hear music, music, music of the very cool but often half baked variety, live from the rehearsals. So if you like a talk & music show with surprises, this is one for you.

The show is an edited down version of our rehearsals and other interesting relevant chats, but I'm only editing for space. I've assumed it's unlikely that anyone wants multiple hours of rehearsals to listen to every day! However, I try to leave the juicy bits in; this is not a sanitized recording, just an abridged one.

Sit back, relax, enjoy the bumpy ride. We're starting out on a very weird path by exposing our creative process, so I don't know where we'll end up. But it should be funny, ey?

Emlyn, half of Candela!
