Just got it today and probably spent 3-4 hours total flying it so far. Have crashed multiple times into multiple objects including walls, chairs, trees, and fences while getting used to it. chipped off the edge of a blade but super glue fixed that fine. Overall out of the hundreds of Helicopters I have flown this is in the top five. It holds its own. Even compared to some of the 1000 dollar metal helicopters.

If you are not into the RC plane hobby, you need to understand what you are in for. This is a fragile high tech piece of equipment. Those who have flown RC Planes know this but those of you that are new to RC flying would be well served to buy 2 of these. One to fly and one to take parts off of when they break, and they will break.

Any fall from greater that the default (9') will cause extensive damage, a new system board is $99 and the costs of the parts quickly add up. Just a note replacement parts are not shipping at this time.

Yes these are easy to fly, but they are easy to crash and break very easily. I have a broken, central cross, system board, body set, shaft and gear.

It's fun to fly but even after about 10 hrs under my belt I am still using the indoor hull outside. Shaft and gear will break if prop hits anything. Any wind is a problem. My indoor hull is showing signs of stress and I imagine it will not last much longer.

It is well worth the $299 price but keep in mind, it will break,

FWIW I sent support an email over 2 weeks ago and no response, I sat for hours on the phone and never talked to anyone. You are on your own with this. Oh and try and find parts, my guess is 80% of the drones out there are non usable.

Buyer beware THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE TOY, that breaks very easily and the replacement parts are pricey.

RC racers go head-to-head in Barre Town

For those who love Thunder Road in Barre, the winter off-season can be a tough few months. But, there's still a little racing to be had.

In Barre, bearings, shocks, springs and oil are part of the culture. Even miniature car races draw a crowd. "I like them because they go fast and I like RC cars," said 8 year-old Max Spaulding.

A few are good enough behind the wheel -- and trigger -- to go pro in Remote Control car racing. But some at the Barre Town RC Speedway race real cars and they say this helps cure the winter itch.

"I've been doing this for about 20 years. I started when I was 14," said Chip Grenier. He says he honed his skills on the mini-track well before he hit the pavement at Thunder Road. "What's unique about Thunder Road is that everybody is friends with everybody and it's the same at the RC track," he said. "It is a lot cheaper and you can flip it, barrel roll it and you don't get hurt as a driver, so that's kind of nice."

On Sunday trophies were on the line, but there are races every week, and it's just $15 to register. Tune-ups are available on pit-row, no jack or crew necessary. "You add cross-weight, you take out cross-weight, add tire stagger -- everything the real car has. And fierce competitors, just like in real cars, so kind of gives you that motivation to stay driven and trying to run good and do your best," Grenier said.

And you don't need a radio to chirp at the opposing drivers. "It's more fun here because your smack talking the result and getting spun out -- it doesn't actually cost you thousands of dollars when it happens," Grenier said.

Grenier says his preference is still the pavement. "I would stay behind the wheel still. I can wrench on the little cars better than most, but I can't seem to drive them as good," he said.

The next generation says for now, they're just eyeing the competition.

Use A Smartphone To Open Your Garage Door

Last month, my father asked me why he couldn't open his garage door with an app on his iPhone. Trying not to get too technical, I tried to explain the sort of home infrastructure that would be required and why that might be impractical. "Theoretically Dad," I said, "the machine that opens the garage door would have to somehow be connected to your home network." I felt as though the problem was manageable by someone relatively technical, but I couldn't envision a solution for the less technically inclined. Particularly if it involves the wireless configuration of a device (the machine) that has no console on it.

So now, after visiting Liftmaster at CES 2012, I know why I'm a journalist and others (like the folks at Liftmaster) are the ones making cool things possible; like iPhone controlled garage door openers for mortals. Here in Las Vegas, as can be seen from the embedded video below, at a pre-CES press-only briefing, Liftmaster was showing off a new garage door opener that can be remotely controlled by an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), an Android device, or a BlackBerry

So, how did Liftmaster do it? As can be seen in the embedded video, Liftmaster has done something pretty clever. The garage door opener does in-fact have to be connected to the home network. But instead of trying to find a way to configure the garage door opener for a WiFi connection (or for a hard-wired Ethernet connection), Liftmaster uses a radio transmitter that connects directly to a residential router over hard-wired Ethernet. That transmitter then wirelessly exchanges signals with the garage door opener (which has its own radio). It's not significantly different than the way most visor-mounted garage-door opener remotes work over a wireless frequency. The difference is that the "remote" is mounted to a home router instead of a car's visor.

Then, the Liftmaster app that runs on your smartphone or a tablet communicates directly with that home router-mounted remote. Unlike today's simple visor-mounted remotes that can open a garage door, close the door, or toggle the opener's lights from a short distance, Liftmaster's smartphone and tablet apps can work from anywhere (so long as they have a connection to the Internet) and they can detect the current state of a garage door (whether it is open or closed and how long it has been in either state). According to the company's marketing manager Beth Bjorlo, the app can also be used to toggle house lights on and off.

In addition to supporting iOS, BlackBerry, and Android with custom written apps, there's also a mobile web application that makes it possible to remotely access all the controls through a Web browser. For example, this approach might come in handy if you have a Windows Phone because, on the Windows Phone platform, there isn't an app for that.

For Palm Coast model plane builder, sky's the limit

Dmitriy Tesler of Palm Coast is a barnstormer, a dashing daredevil of remote-controlled aviation with a sense of humor.

Tesler can fly model planes slow or fast, right side up or upside down. He can make planes hang in the air just a few feet off the ground, letting them skim across the earth. It doesn't matter what the plane looks like. It can even look like SpongeBob SquarePants.

Tesler, 47, himself remains firmly planted vertically on land as his hands work the levers on his remote control.

"You can walk the plane like a dog walking," Tesler said recently.

Tesler, who is from the Ukraine, can do just that with his flying doppelganger of SpongeBob SquarePants. What would possess a man to build a flying likeness of a squishy, yellow talking sponge?

"My daughter," Tesler said. "We were watching cartoons. And she got this idea."

He said his daughter talked about a flying Sponge Bob and the idea started doing patterns in Tesler's head.It took Tesler about $350 and a week to design and build the plane from 1 1/4-inch-thick insulation foam.

The SpongeBob plane has no wings. It is a wing, a flying wing -- just like a B-2 bomber but not as scary.

Tesler said his daughter helped him paint the plane.

"Well, me and my dad always loved the SpongeBob show," said Elizabeth, 13.

And she was confident in her dad's aerodynamic acumen.

"I always knew my dad could do any type of plane," Elizabeth said. She said her friends get a kick out of the plane.

Tesler said being an electrician helped him build the Sponge Bob plane and other models.

"Because electrician has to be capable basically to do almost everything from masonry to plumbing to everything," Tesler said.

Tesler has had an interest in model airplanes since he was a 10-year-old boy growing up in Odessa in the Ukraine. Back then he had what he called a "string flyer," a model plane which he controlled by way of a handle and some strings.

He left the Ukraine and moved to New York where he lived for about six years before moving his family to Palm Coast about 13 years ago. About six years ago, he got back into model planes when he saw a man flying one at a park.

He said some people who worked on planes once saw his SpongeBob flying machine.

"They couldn't believe the thing could fly," Tesler said in accented English.

Tesler was flying his SpongeBob plane recently at the Flagler County RAMS (Radio Aero Modelers) field on a closed landfill off Old Kings Road. Model plane pilots gather there to fly all kinds of aircraft, electric or gas powered, jet or propeller-driven.

Gene Manno, club treasurer, said what's truly unusual about Tesler's SpongeBob is its size.

"There's all kinds of stuff that flies that's relatively small," Manno said. "But that thing is almost a half a wall panel."

Tesler has flown the SpongeBob plane at festivals in Palm Coast where it is a crowd-pleaser with adults and children alike.Tesler has other model planes, 25 to 30 in all but only five or six are ready to fly. His wife, Lana, has not always been happy with his hobby, saying it takes too much time.

"But she actually was proud when I flew in the Town Center and a lot of people was cheering and applause," Tesler said.

The 13-pound SpongeBob plane is capable of stunts, knife edges, flat spins and other things.Tesler also has other model planes, like a conventional-looking fixed wing aircraft which looks fairly standard except for its pilot, a model of Darth Vader.

And he has a delta-shaped racer built from blueprints he purchased. The plane is a small arrowhead with a high-performance engine which spewed a trail of smoke as he warmed it up recently. The wind from its prop nearly knocked a small Piper Cub model off a stand about 10 feet behind it.

The delta plane can hit speeds of up to about 160 mph and it looked like it was going that fast as Tesler shot it through the skies -- even with a sputtering engine.

Tesler said when he makes his planes go into spins, hovers, rolls and knife edges it's like a song.

"Whatever you have in mind, like music in your head," he said.

But you have to stay ahead of the game when flying these models.

"You have to plan what you are going to do next. Because if you are not you are going to crash," he said.

I have bought a number of Accoutrements items on Amazon and have been satisfied with all of them. When I saw the R/C Zombie I had to have it. Now I realize that he's most likely collectable but I had to open him up and see how he works. So here's the scoop.....he seems well made and works pretty good the only problem is that he falls forward all the time (esp with both arms up) and he dosen't really walk he just kind of shuffles in place and groans. All in all though I'm still glad I bought him and recommend him highly.

Spy Gear Spy Video TRAKR

My 8 year old just got this for his birthday. He's been having loads of fun with it. It's easy to control. Too loud to truly be sneaky but still fun. The video camera quality is quite good and the monitor on the remote is good as well. Nice resolution, but keep in mind it is a toy not a cell phone. It can clearly see across a 15ft room in light and the night vision will see a good 7ft with all the lights out. We haven't done any of the advanced computer-linked stuff or downloaded apps or that, so I can't comment on that, but it seems there are some advanced programming options to explore as he gets older.

There is a slight delay between the video/audio the camera receives and what you see/hear on the monitor but once you get used to it, it's easy to work with.

The camera will record video and still pictures and of course show where you are driving around. 10 AA batteries are required as well. 6/robot 4/remote

If there were one thing I would improve, I wish it had the ability for the camera to look up/down by remote control. You can adjust the camera up/down with your hand but once it's set it stays in that position until you manually adjust it. Not a big deal really. My son didn't even know it would move up/down at all until I showed him and he'd been having tons of fun seeing everything at feet level.

Seems like a quality well constructed toy that will provide entertainment for a long time.
