Hey all, hope everyone’s good. Been sitting on this mix for ages and due to work and a several technical glitches along the weary way it’s only now that I pass it on to y’all’all’a'y’all.

(Download the mix)

Some of you will know Goldwill (Ralf Schmidt and Henry Behring) from their “One Bill” single on Word and Sound last year, and they’ve had a good run of remixes and tracks since then, on Liebe*Detail, Einmaleins and Lomidhigh Organic.

One advantage of the delay is I’ve had this mix on my Ipod for ages, and I can confidently say it’s a really strong piece of work, a mix that stands out. If there was an extra H in HIAF it would be for hamburgers, both the meaty snack or the people from Hamburg. Goldwill have just moved to Berlin from there and I know they’re working hard on tracks so keep your eyes peeled for more releases!

Feel free to comment on the mix below and in the meantime check out what the guys had to say when I caught up with them via the wonders of the electronic mailbox.

How did Goldwill come about?

HB: We met about two years ago at music distribution Word And Sound in Hamburg. I can clearly remember that we went out to see Omar S. playing at a Smallville party in Hamburg. On that evening Ralf thought it’d be cool to try something in his home studio, just for fun. So we did and it was fantastic.

Before Goldwill I had been DJing for about 10, 11 years, collecting and selling records for a living. Had my very first studio session just a half year before meeting Ralf - at the homestudio of my buddy Hausmann.C who also used to work in the distribution..

RS: Well we met at work and became friends pretty quick.I did some stuff before as I was into making electronic music since basically my childhood days. Before Goldwill I put out some 12″s out with Till Von Sein and one with Marc Schneider.

RS: I am from the very northern part of Germany, a small town near Hamburg. Grew up there and lived in Hamburg for almost 5 years, but recently moved to Berlin.

HB: I’m from Schwerin, North-East Germany, close to the Baltic Sea. I have been living downtown for some years now. I spent more than 26 years in the countryside, splitting wood and cutting grass - lovely nature and fresh air!

What can you tell us about the mix, how and where it was recorded?

HB: It was recorded at my flat using my three turntables and the looper, without interruption. I took some supernew and all time stuff and started deep and slow - w/ the great “Birds” by John Daly together with an interview by a Detroit guy followed by a superslow 7″ by Sven Weisemann.

What sort of music do you guys feel you want to make?

RS: Any kind of music, as long as I can feel it. It has to make me feel happy and excited. I don’t like to restrict myself to a certain sound or formula. For Goldwill, we try to keep it as open as possible, as we both listen to so many different kinds of music.

HB: It think most of the stuff we do is based on house music in the broadest way. We don’t want to do a certain style to be expected. We need to feel the thing, having a good time first and trying to create something unique that we are down with.

Who are your favorite producers?

HB: Off the top of my head, just to name a few: C2, Substance & Vainqueur, Daniel Bell, Lee Perry, DJ Premier, Matthew Herbert, DILLA the one and only, Ennio Morricone, Q. Jones, Moritz V. Oswald, Pepe Bradock, Chez Damier, Soundstream, Omar S, T. Parrish and KDJ, Convextion, Henrik Schwarz, Madlib, RZA, Peter Ford, Sterac, M. Paradinas & Richard D. James, some jazz legends like Davis, Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders; most of the notorious Detroit producers and other secret weapons like xxx!

RS: I could mention tons of producers…Brian Eno, Conny Plank, Rick Rubin, DJ Shadow, Quincy Jones; Stock,Aitken, Watermann; J Dilla, Neptunes, DJ Premier,…the list goes on. People who did something new, who created their own path. For house music producers, I tend to stick to the more raw/ edgy stuff. Like Pepe Bradock for example, Theo Parrish…everyone who doesn’t really play by the rules.

Do you have a time classic fav. record? One dance music and one not?

HB: I am sorry but I cannot name my ultimate dance favorite one. There are too many giving me goosebumps time and time again.

But in general, one very essential record is definitely the original soundtrack of Bladerunner by Vangelis, for several reasons. I own the bootleg vinyl version and I’ve been trying to get this gem since. I am probably not the only one! Another LP of this Greek composer was part of the small record collection my parents had, standing between Roger Whittaker and Modern Talking. I think that was the first electronic/ ambient/ synth-music I ever listened to. It was the GDR pressing of ‘Spiral’ from the end of the 70s.

And the very first record I bought myself was Public Enemy – Fear Of A Black Planet. I am just listening to it and it is beaming me back in time to the living room where I was sitting with headphones; absolutely blown away by that, never heard such a sound before. These rhythms! Of course I didn’t understand any of their lyrics. But ever since, I must confess, I’ve been in love with (real) hiphop - which later guided me to its influences: jazz, soul, and funk.

RS: Non-dance: Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen. My mother used to play this a lot when I was growing up. Was etched into my mind forever. Still one of the records I listen to more often than anything else.

Dance: Various: Techno! The New Dance Sound of Detroit. One of the first records I have ever bought. I heard it and it literally changed my life. I have never heard anything like this before and wanted to find out how this music was made, where it was from and what was the reason it existed.

What are Goldwill’s plans for the next few months?

RS: Nothing special – we’ll just try to get our live set together, make it work for two people somehow. That plus being around, getting more gigs, doing more records.

HB: Continouosly working on our own tracks and doing some remixes. And for the weekends - besides DJing we are preparing a live performance together as Goldwill. Personally, I’d wish that we can find enough time and possibilities to continue with Goldwill, and who knows, maybe to be able to do this full-time one day.

So it’s a pleasure for me to host a mix from Roman Flügel, and it came as a surprise when he got back to me late last year to say he’d record one. It came as a bigger surprise when, a few months later, when I assumed he’d been too busy, he mailed me to say he’d completed the mix.

I’m sure all of you are really familiar with his work over the years with so many great records in so many different styles, from Eight Miles High to Roman IV and collaborating as Acid Jesus or Alter Ego. I’m certain that a lot of people will really love this mix, I’ve been playing it loads in the last week or so and I think it’s easily one of the best guest mixes I’ve done here. Maybe the best. So it’s exciting to be finally sharing it.

I’ve asked Roman a few questions about the mix and house/techno in general and you can read the answers below, along with a tracklist etc. Feel free to comment.

So what can you tell us about this mix? Is this the music that you like most at the moment?

It is certainly just a little selection of trax I like at moment. For me it is interesting, inspiring and exceptional house music in different and deeper shades. I also thought about having – more or less - an entire night in a 50min mix. It starts quite slow and experimental with the beautiful “Bodywork” by John Roberts, reaches its “peaktime” with the latest Running Back and says goodbye with Subway’s “CS 78″ on Fritto Morto. I found most of the records in a tiny record shop in Frankfurt called DEO that has just opened. The owner is specialized on the weird side of house music and dares the impossible…

When did you first start DJing and how did you get interested in it? How different is it today?

I tried to mix my first records around ´87 when “electronic body music” (mostly from Belgium and Germany) merged with early house from Chicago. “Techno” was about to break through in Frankfurt due to Discotheques like the “Dorian Grey” or the “Omen”. It wasn´t much later when me and some friends started to throw our first Acid House Parties after we spent our holidays in Spain where we managed to get some DJ mix tapes from clubs on the Balearic islands and the Costa Del Sol that were absolutely brilliant. You could hear people mixing New Wave into Percussion Instrumentals into EBM and Acid House and back into the Gypsy Kings.

What do you think about the current scene? Are house and techno healthy? Are they ever unhealthy?
I don’t think they’ve ever been unhealthy. Dance music has always had its trends and ups and downs. Sometimes I was part of a trend sometimes I was not. It’s still an interesting scene to me even though I´m also waiting for the next “BIG thing” to happen since techno was called “minimal” and after it was “Electro House”.

Obviously there’s more focus on deep house in 2009 than there has been for a long time, your Roman IV tracks seem to be pretty influential, how do you feel about that sound returning?

It seems like history’s repeating for the more “mature” producers. It reminds me a little bit of the time between ‘94 - ‘98. Ata & Heiko (the guys who released my first records on Playhouse and Klang) started to do a 100% deep house night called “Wild Pitch” at that time in Frankfurt. It was their way to resist against boring, fast, trancy and hard Techno that dominated the bigger clubs. Suddenly the scene was split into different parts. People were either into “House” or “Techno” (that finally ended in even harder manifestations like “Loop Techno” or “Schranz”.)

Today deep house ist the opposition of minimal for many people I guess. It brings back the warmth and soul many have missed in the last 12 months because of DJs that misunderstood the word “minimal” and played more or less boring music and dared nothing.

What annoys you most about what you do?
I feel very sorry about the fact that vinyl as a form of presenting music (not only as a soundcarrier) is about to fade away. And I won´t be able to stop that.

Have you ever felt like quitting and doing something else?

I did some things before like going to the university and doing shitty jobs for example. The ability to make music has been the best thing that happened in my life so far. At the moment I don´t see a reason to change anything.

Any major regrets over your entire career?

Too bad I wasn´t able to deliver another five “Rockers” and several “Geht’s nochs”. It would have been my chance to retire at the age of 38. No, honestly – no major regrets.

Do you ever worry about making bigger hits and still keeping that underground credibility? For instance your tracks as Alter Ego and your “Gehts Nocht” were very big during what was called “electrohouse”. (I’m not judging btw here, I liked those records, just I’m wondering if people have criticised you for them as tends to happen in techno…)

I’m not to sure about what “underground credibility” really is. I guess it is more a problem of some listeners who want to take part in something that is considered as “underground” and equivalent with “quality” for them. In many cases they are right but not in general. “Rocker” and “Geht’s noch” were never planned as major hits. But they both had the potential to crossover and some of the remixes made it a lot easier to do so. I don’t think there´s anything wrong with big tunes in house or techno. Think of tracks like “Good Life”, “Promised Land” or “Stakker Humanoid”. They’ve been in the charts but I still consider them as important and cool. If people are really interested in something they can find out if there’s more behind than just a hit that destroyed their conception of how music should be.

Do you have an all time favourite record? Let’s say one that’s techno and one that’s not techno

Mr Fingers – Amnesia and Glenn Gould / Leonard Bernstein – Brahms Piano Concert #1, performance of April 6, 1962

Any plans for 2009 you want to tell people about?
I´ll do a remix for Frankfurts Motorcity Soul´s next single on Aus Music. And there will be some Alter Ego shows during summer where we present some updated versions of the music we did before “Rocker” changed our life.

Tracklist:

1. John Roberts-Bodywork (Feel Music 24)
2. Hot Coins - Christmas day (Untracked 06)
3. The Mole -There´s hope (Internasjonal 06)
4. Mark E -Night Mover (Creative Use 005)
<itunes:summary>So it's a pleasure for me to host a mix from Roman Fluuml;gel, and it came as a surprise when he got back to me late last year to say he'd record one. It came as a bigger surprise when, a few months later, when I assumed he'd been too busy, he mailed me to say he'd completed the mix.
I'm sure all of you are really familiar with his work over the years with so many great records in so many different styles, from Eight Miles High to Roman IV and collaborating as Acid Jesus or Alter Ego. I'm certain that a lot of people will really love this mix, I've been playing it loads in the last week or so and I think it's easily one of the best guest mixes I've done here. Maybe the best. So it's exciting to be finally sharing it.
I've asked Roman a few questions about the mix and house/techno in general and you can read the answers below, along with a tracklist etc. Feel free to comment.
So what can you tell us about this mix? Is this the music that you like most at the moment?
It is certainly just a little selection of trax I like at moment. For me it is interesting, inspiring and exceptional house music in different and deeper shades. I also thought about having ndash; more or less - nbsp;an entire night in a 50min mix. It starts quite slow and experimental with the beautiful "Bodywork" by John Roberts, nbsp;reaches its "peaktime" with the latest Running Back and says goodbye with Subway's "CS 78" on Fritto Morto. I found most of the records in a tiny record shop in Frankfurt called DEO that has just opened. The owner is specialized on the weird side of house music and dares the impossible...
When did you first start DJing and how did you get interested in it? How different is it today?

I tried to mix my first records around acute;87 when "electronic body music" (mostly from Belgium and Germany) merged with early house from Chicago. "Techno" was about to break through in Frankfurt due to Discotheques like the "Dorian Grey" or the "Omen". It wasnacute;t much later when me and some friends started to throw our first Acid House Parties after we spent our holidays in Spain where we managed to get some DJ mix tapes from clubs on the Balearic islands and the Costa Del Sol that were absolutely brilliant. You could hear people mixing New Wave into Percussion Instrumentals into EBM and Acid House and back into the Gypsy Kings.

What do you think about the current scene? Are house and techno healthy? Are they ever unhealthy?
I don't think they've ever been unhealthy. Dance music has always had its trends and ups and downs. Sometimes I was part of a trend sometimes I was not. It's still an interesting scene to me even though Iacute;m also waiting for the next "BIG thing" to happen since techno was called "minimal" and after it was "Electro House".

Obviously there's more focus on deep house in 2009 than there has been for a long time, your Roman IV tracks seem to be pretty influential, how do you feel about that sound returning?

It seems like history's repeating for the more "mature" producers. It reminds me a little bit of the time between '94 - '98. Ata #38; Heiko (the guys who released my first records on Playhouse and Klang) started to do a 100% deep house night called "Wild Pitch"nbsp; at that time in Frankfurt. It was their way to resist against boring, fast, trancy and hard Techno that dominated the bigger clubs. Suddenly the scene was split into different parts. People were either into "House" or "Techno" (that finally ended in even harder manifestations like ldquo;Loop Technordquo; or ldquo;Schranzrdquo;.)

Today deep house ist the opposition of minimal for many people I guess. It brings back the warmth and soul many have missed in the last 12 months because of DJs that misunderstood the word ldquo;minimalrdquo; and played more or less boring music and dared nothing.

So who is the man behind the mask? Well I don’t actually know.

But if you’ve heard Anonym’s music on Bloop or Sushitech you may be wondering the same thing. If you haven’t then this live set, recorded at Tresor, should be the right introduction. This set is called the “Huis Is A Feeling” since “Huis” is the sort of music Anonym makes and because of the name of this site.

Anonym was kind enough to let me host this recording here and he’s also given what may be his first ever statement below, keeping most of the cards close to his chest but stoking the fires of mythology nicely. Here goes…

1. You’re recording anonymously, what are you willing to tell people about who you are, and why you are anonymous?

“I am Anonym the one who is Anonymous. I am anonymous because in any popular music form prone to be ransacked by the egos of its participants, a state of grace is best achieved and sustained by pursuing a life of anonymity. That preserves its creators from the warping stare of the media and its public in the process.”

2. Are you working and living in Detroit? Were you born there?

“Detroit is my heart and often my songs sing her praises. I have known her all my life”

3. Do you feel there is a connection between Detroit and the European or German scenes you’ve been working in?

“I think Detroit still has a strong influence over the scenes in Europe and the scenes in Europe especially in Berlin have a strong influence on the scene in Detroit.”

4. What sort of sounds do you try and make with your music? Who influences you and what sort of tracks do you like?

“I try to make soulful music something that will last and isn’t just another song of the month throw away track. The music I make comes from my heart.”

5. How do you feel about dance music in 2008? Are you enthusiastic?

“I think dance music is in a state of flux right now some people want to go more house some more techno. I think everyone needs to get back to when a producer could and did make a record with a house track a techno track even an ambient one on it.”

6. What can you tell us about these live sets? Do you always perform live or do you like to DJ as well?

“The live set is made up of released and unreleased material which I can perform all the parts in a free form arrangement or as they appear on the records. I always perform in various forms of disguise. I do like to DJ but right now I am focused on the live act.”

7. When did you first get into dance music? How did it happen?

“I was lucky enough to have grown up listening to radio shows with DJs like ..“The Electrifying Mojo”.., ..“The Wizard”.., ..“Richie Rich”.., and many more.
As well as TV shows like ..“The New Dance Show”…
Then at 16 I went to a club called “The Shelter” where afterwards a friend took us to an abandoned apartment building which had a party on the top floor. Ever since that night I can’t stop.”

8. Anything else you’d like to tell people now that you have a platform to do so!?

“If anyone would like to find out more about me, book me for a show, or see where I will be playing you can go to my ..Myspace page..at Myspace. com/anonymousrelease or my website at www. anonymousrelease. com”

So who is the man behind the mask? Well I don't actually know.

But if you've heard Anonym's music on Bloop or Sushitech you may be wondering the same thing. If you haven't then this live set, recorded at Tresor, should be the right introduction. This set is called the "Huis Is A Feeling" since "Huis" is the sort of music Anonym makes and because of the name of this site.

Anonym was kind enough to let me host this recording here and he's also given what may be his first ever statement below, keeping most of the cards close to his chest but stoking the fires of mythology nicely. Here goes...

7. When did you first get into dance music? How did it happen?

"I was lucky enough to have grown up listening to radio shows with DJs like .."The Electrifying Mojo".., .."The Wizard".., .."Richie Rich".., and many more. As well as TV shows like .."The New Dance Show"... Then at 16 I went to a club called "The Shelter" where afterwards a friend took us to an abandoned apartment building which had a party on the top floor. Ever since that night I can't stop."

8. Anything else you'd like to tell people now that you have a platform to do so!?

"If anyone would like to find out more about me, book me for a show, or see where I will be playing you can go to mynbsp; ..Myspace page..at Myspace. com/anonymousrelease or my website at www. anonymousrelease. com"

So the first guest mix in some time is by JC Freaks, aka Werner Niedermeier and Anthea Nzekwu. The duo have released just one single, “The Rock”, on Mojuba’s new sub-label, Wandering.

It’s been around quite a lot but if you haven’t heard it you could go and do so on their Myspace. They’ve kindly done a mix each for me to share with all of you. No tracklists this time around.

Also Anthea, whom some of you may know from Phonica Records, has answered a few questions about “The Rock”, clearing up that it’s not about cocaine and establishing that the JC in “JC Freaks” stands for Jesus Christ. Since this is a staunchly Catholic blog I’m delighted with this, as are my parents.

How did this JC Freaks project come about?

Well Werner and I were old friends we met back in (20??) through a mutual friend Anthony Cox who at the time was the manager of Flying Records in Soho, I worked there and Werner booked me to play in a club in Spain. Werner moved to London sometime after and we immediately hit it off. To be honest if it wasn’t for Werner pushing me and encouraging me to get in the studio it probably would never have happened.

What are both of your backgrounds? I know Anthea works in Phonica? Have either of you produced before?

No I hadn’t produced before just had a real love for music. My father was my inspiration; in his twenties he was the bass player in a reggae band, I remember him taking me to a couple of the bands rehearsals when I was around 5 and I’d love to jump on the drums and bang around. My father loved jazz, funk and disco as well as reggae and had a rather cool record collection which I confiscated when I left home. I studied music at school and DJ’d right the way through university. Werner is producing music since around 1995. He is involved in production outfits like Notenshun and Audio Nature.

What kind of music are you guys trying to make? Whose music do you both like?

Well Werner and I are always about the House groove but beyond that our name JC Freaks stands for Jesus Christ Freaks since we both put our faith in Jesus yeah!! ‘The Rock’ is, believe it or not, about God and not cocaine (some have asked) the lyrics are My Rock, My Fortress, My Deliverer which is actually an extract from The Bible – Psalm 18.. So the project is really based on our faith, we are trying to send a message but not necessarily by making full on Gospel music. All our tracks point the way to God in some way.

Where was the mix recorded?

The mix I did was recorded live from a night I do monthly in London. Werner did his mix in his studio.

Are you surprised by the success of your first single?

Yes very. But at the same time because of our faith we knew God would make it happen for us because it was about him. Funny huh?! I’m very pleased about its success. People I never thought would buy it have not only bought but tell us how much they love it. Praise God! Lol.

What have you guys got in store in the future?

We’ve got a couple of new EPs coming out later this year via Mojuba Records, and Phonica Records, and are currently working on more stuff.

Here’s a short shock from Berlin, with a 30 minute mix by Hauke Freer. If you’ve been following this blog obsessively, every day, reading for hours until your eyes hurt and most of the rest of your life has crumbled around you, as I strongly recommend, then you’ll know I’m a big fan of Mr Freer’s music (hear some on his Myspace.)

I spoke to Hauke about the mix, about Berlin, and about his music and he has explained it all for me and you.

First all, what can you tell us about this mix?

“It is actually a 30 minutes mix which i recorded to be released at some point on the mixtape website bmx-tapes.de, that is run by my crew Basstarde. We release only 30 minutes concept tapes, the shortest DJ discipline, with maximum content - no style boundaries - drum´n bass vs country: we got it. (more info at myspace.com/basstarde)

My aim for this mix was to stay on a house vibe and combine recent releases with some old pearls. DJing for 10 years now - I still love the challange to squeeze the beforehand selected records on a tape. Recorded live on 3Mk2s, vinyl only.”

When did you start DJing?

I started DJing in 1997 when I was running the radioshow elektro<>skunk with my best mate and putting on Basstarde parties.

What production work are you doing at the moment?

Currently I’m focusing on my Session Victim project with Matthias Reiling. Our “No friends EP” on Real Soon is again more on the house side. We are into raw loose beats, dirty samples taken from vinyl and like to write music without caring too much about genres.

Any releases coming up?

“Yes, we are working on another Real Soon release as Session Victim. Matthias Reiling is currently working on beats for an album of A-Plus (Souls of Mischief.)”

Who are your own favourite producers and DJs?

“I’m much inspired by Move D, FBI, Jackmate and Pepe Bradock. I’m regulary disappointed by DJs - DJ Koze never fails to impress. I wish more DJs would dare more and don’t show up with laptops.”

Where do you go out in Berlin?

“I go out less these times. We are so spoiled here and the club machinery is getting more commercial and touristic. Tape Club is a great venue with nice sound.”

If I went to Berlin tomorrow and had never been, what would you recommend me to do?

“Berlin is about the vibe. Take your time, drink coffee in Kreuzberg, shop records and chillout at an openair bar. Life moves at a quarter of the speed London does - it´s great that way.”

When did you start DJing and how did you get into it?

I actually started buying House and Techno when i was about 15 but didn’t start djing until about 20. I had no intention or desire to become a dj initially but built up quite a collection. Believe it or not it was actually my friends and brother that kinda pushed me into djing as they said they’d prefer to hear me play my records than hear what we were hearing out at the time. My mum bought me my first technics turntable and a year later bought me the other with my brother and friends buying me the mixer. It was just left for me to buy some speakers and i was finally in business! I moved down to London after Uni in 2001 and soon after got my first gigs. After just a few gigs with a bit of luck and always being at their parties the faith guys picked me up and i started playing for them on a regular basis alongside some heroes of the time such as Doc Martin, Dubtribe, Ashley Beedle.

Who are your favourite producers at the moment?

Well at the moment im liking stuff from Jus Ed, Patrice Scott, Keith Worthy, Also Sascha Dive, Claro Intellecto, Guillaume and The Cotu Dumonts, Mountain People…

Any plans, either releases or parties, you think people might like to hear about?

There’s quite a bit going on at the moment. Martin Dawson and i have a project called Two Armadillos which is going really well. Had releases on Buzzin Fly, Four:Twenty and Dessous most recently. The most recent release “Hamlin” on Dessous which comes with a Sascha Dive remix is currently single of the week on Word and Sounds site. Also just done remixes for Dessous and Mood Music.

Secretsundaze wise our summer season has started well and is running every two weeks across summer at various locations. Have guests up coming including Onur Ozer, Jus Ed, Gullame and The Cotu Dumonts, Steve Bug amongst others. Other special events include our Sonar Party tbc on Sunday June 22nd and Lovebox on 19th July in Victoria Park in London.

Gig highlights over the next few months include: a Japan tour, Fabric, Croatia, Basics in Leeds, Weekend and The Tape Club in Berlin, Monza in Frankfurt, Harry Klein in Munich, Portugal, Volt Loves Summer Festival in Amsterdam, Monza in Ibiza and The Robert Johnson.

What is the average annual rainfall in the Amazon basin?

Some of you might know his productions, which are on the deeper tip usually. He’s also a regular DJ in Berlin clubs like Arena, Sage, and Watergate, as well as around Europe.
I also had a quick chat with Till about DJing in general and the mix.

How was the mix recorded?

I did it with just 2 CD players and a rubbish ecler hak. Nothing special! In the last 6-7 months I only play CDs, gettin’ old and lazy.

What is your background in dance music, where did you grow up and how did you get into house and techno? When did you start DJing?

My backround is mainly black music, from rap to funk, jazz, soul, disco, dub, house,j ungle. All types of it really. I grew up in the countryside, just in the middle between Hamburg and Denmark. You always liked a classic mixture of good grooves when I started going out, from De La soul to Jamiroquai to Reel 2 Reel. Just early 90s shit as a kid in the countryside!

I also loved real jungle music back then. House started with the French revolution: Motorbass, Superdiscount etc and I still love this stuff. I was never that much into techno, just in the last 5 there was some stuff I liked, and like most out there I like the classic stuff, Detroit etc, not the typical German stuff that got big in the last few years. I guess the music I always liked most is rap and r´n´b: Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, D´Angelo, Raphael Saadiq etc.

What about now, do you DJ regularly somewhere?

I DJ almost every weekend. I got my residencies in my old hood, in Kiel/Northern Germany every month. I also play in clubs in Berlin where I live now on a regular: Arena, Sage, Watergate. And I’ve started travelling as well, to Moscow, Milano, Paris, Beirut, Zurich, and all over Germany.

Who are the producers and DJs you admire?

If it comes to producers there are too many guys out there I admire. But if it comes to DJs I’m a bit picky. I’m always getting bored pretty easy. I like the guys that surprise me, not the ones that play the basic tunes. For the so called “big names” I like Dixon, his flow is amazing. One guy who is brilliant is Finn Johannsen, of “De Bug” magazine. He has so many mixes on his webpage and they are all quality: disco ,soul, deep house.

If you’re new to the blog, or you missed them, you can check out the 5 other guest mixes here.

EDIT: Try this link for the podcast, let me know if it works. There is a problem with the podcast that goes above and beyond my knowledge for the moment. Does anyone have any ideas/help? Failing that if anyone has any idea when it stopped working and what sort of error messages it gives that’d be great. Currently it’s only displaying this week’s edition for me. I’ve no idea why. Is this the same for everyone?

<itunes:summary>So for this mix Till Von Sein steps in. Some of you might know his productions, which are on the deeper tip usually. He's also a regular DJ in Berlin clubs like Arena, Sage, and Watergate, as well as around Europe. This mix is just over an hour of deep house music, with a great flow to it. If you like Efdemin's mixes or Eurokai's guest mix then I think you'll really enjoy this too.

If you happen to be in Berlin, Till plays Watergate tonight.

Download the mix here. Subscribe to these mixes as a podcast with THIS LINK.

And feel free to let me know what you think of the mix.

I also had a quick chat with Till about DJing in general and the mix.

How was the mix recorded?

I did it with just 2 CD players and a rubbish ecler hak. Nothing special! In the last 6-7 months I only play CDs, gettin' old and lazy.

What is your background in dance music, where did you grow up and how did you get into house and techno? When did you start DJing?
