Artists: Megson, Spiro, Emily Smith, Mawkin Causley, Jackie Oates, Martin Simpson and Bellowhead.

Attending this years Folk by the Oak on Sunday I was fortunate to catch up with two of the 11 piece band members, John Spiers and Sam Sweeney of Bellowhead back stage for an interview (infact spending most of the evening there for lively conversation with the artists appearing).

Bellowhead were winners of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards best Live Act this year and two previous years 2007 and 2008.

Most of the songs that Bellowhead play are around 200 years old playing a wide variety of instruments from an Accordian, a Bass, Fiddle, Guitar, percussion and they have even been known to play a frying pan. Their performance that brought the Folk by the Oak to a climax was ‘jumpin’ and had most of the visitors dancing to their lively performance.

I also chatted with Jackie Oates, James Budden and Spiro and so this weeks show will feature songs from some of these well known Folk artists songs.
