NEW (as yet to be named) podcast in the coming weeks

This is Uncle Dan. It's been over a year since the last episode of Radio W.C, and I am eager to get back in the podcasting business once again. My father, referred to as 'Grandpa' on Radio W.C. passed away rather suddenly a few weeks after the last episode. That sent us in different directions, none of which had anything to do with podcasting.

But, with this crazy presidential campaign going on and world events going on as they are, I am itching to come back. Mostly it will be just me, Uncle Dan behind the mic, but hopefully I will be able to persuade Abu Snookums to make a few cameos from time to time.

Anyway-I'll post on here where you can find the new podcast. I'm shooting for a week from today as of now, but, things always happen. Hope all of you still have this on your feeds!

We are back...well, Uncle Dan is back-as Radio WC will mostly be Uncle Dan for the forseeable future. But, I do discuss Abu Snookums' radio show "Your Muslim Neighbor" on 1360thesource.com.

Specifically, his show this past evening there was a call which got us all riled up! You'll have to listen to find out the details.

Plus, country music and...is our favorite show '24' finally jumping the shark??

Abu Snookums will most likely return on an occasional basis, as it is mainly a scheduling issue.

Just a quick reminder that we are still here and hope to do some more podcasting soon. I saw Bush's interview tonight from 60 Minutes. Oh, man, I don't even know what to say. This guy is a cross between Satan and a retard. Hmmmmm.

It has been a while and we apologize for not having a podcast as of now, but things are in transitional mode around here, and we are hopeful that Radio W. C. can survive. I'll let you folks know either way.

We have returned after an extended hiatus with some talk about cartoons. specifically, Uncle Dan is mystified as to why 'The Family Guy' is as popular as it is (even , seemingly, in academia), and is beginning to harbor doubts of his own feelings toward the show.

Also, some GOP shenanigans involving Jean Schmidt not writing her own editorials.

And finally, it is Ramadan, and Abu Snookums and Uncle Dan debate the lunar calender vs. the solar calender.

After chatting a bit about the spiders and bugs in the W.C., we chat about sex in movies and Geena Davis in 'The Fly.' Uncle Dan segues into porn after that...Abu Snookums prefers still photos to movement.

Some 9-11 stuff after that dealing with the upcoming fifth anniversary, like what would have been the best thing to do in Afghanistan and stuff like that. And finally we wrap it up with what U.S. foreign policy should be.

The Debate "Bring it on!"

The president of Iran challenged Bush to a debate. And for some reason it is being portrayed by the press as some sort of backwards attempt at civility.

We have seen tons of press conferences with Bush and other world leaders (Putin, Blair etc.) and some who may or may not agree on all issues.

But, we all know that this debate will not take place.

Why?

Simple. A debate between Bush and Ademenijad would humanize the Iranian leader. If the american people saw him speaking and saying things that made sense it would undermine the administrations foriegn policy which is based on "us vs. them."

If you read the linked article, and look at other things that Ademenijad has said in the past-the guy is not a complete lunatic along the lines of a Bin Laden. In fact, if you look at his relgiious beliefs, one will find that they are no more kooky than the one's that Bush holds dear.

Remember when Bush claimed that god spoke to him and told him to invade Iraq? Also, his policy with Israel is deeply rooted in the belief that the Jews will be our expendable soldiers when Armageddon comes. Ademenijad, similarly, has his version of the apocolypse which includes the return of the "12th Imam"-Abu Snookums can correct me if I am wrong.

So-these guys are pretty much equal when it comes to basing policy on nutty religious thinking. As far as which one is a better speaker, it's pretty tough to say when the American press doesn't let you see much of Ademenijad's oratory skills. but it's not difficult to imagine that Bush would lose.

So, to Bush...I say "c'mon, what are ya...chickkkkeeennnnnnn??" and I will put my hands in my armpits, flap my arms and start clucking.

But, when it comes down to it, a televised debate will make Ademenijad seem like he may actually be a human being, and not the animal that we can kill without any guilt.

Uncle Dan speaks up as to why the episodes of Radio W.C. are occurring less often these days. The answer has to do with both "Web 2.0" as well as Abu Snookums.

Also, we review, criticize and nitpick the History channel's documentary on the Ottoman Empire-which was good for the most part, but still some criticism is in order regarding "Western" thinking. But hey, those Ottomans were better (as far as brutal empires go) than just about all of the others!

Welcome to #107 we begin by discussing a bit about Warren County here-and the old days of how we knew the people from South Lebanon.

We also learned that Abu Snookums really doesn't look at this site very much.

Mel Gibson has been in the news, so we talk about him, plus we reflect a bit on his film, "The Passion of the Christ."

And, alas, we missed the Blues Festival in Lebanon-as that is almost an oxymoron.

Radio WC begins with some new, original theme music by Abu Snookums. This is at least temporary as we try to keep ourselves 'podsafe.' From there we talk a bit about music and what may happen with Radio WC in the future.

We can't seem to get away from the Israel/Lebanon conflict-and Abu Snookums talks about that, and a counter-protest he went to last week.

And...there's Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, anything else??

A bit of explanation for the delay begins the episode.

But, the bulk of the episode is spent discussing the Israeli/Palestinian problem that just will never seem to end. More specifically, the SLANTED news coverage that is biased towards Israel at all times. And it's all due to ONE organization that ensures that coverage. Last weekend we saw Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'-we discuss the film, and the phenomenon of Global Warming. Why does the government want it positioned as a debate-when there is nothing really to debate about?

Plus-is Al Gore as bad and boring as everyone says? The answer...no! He's kind of a funny dude-who would be such a better president than the imbicile we have now.

Lots of religious stuff in the first part of the episode, as Abu Snookums tries to explain the trancendence of God. Also, a long explanation of why alcohol is forbidden and how that relates to our "western" idea of sexuality...looking back, it gets a bit preachy, but bear with us. Also, Abu Snookums debunks Descartes-this is quite heavy stuff.

And, to lighten things up at the end, we take a comedic shot at Bush for his latest gaffe at the recent press conference when he acted like an idiot with regard to the reporter with the sunglasses .

Starting out a bit more on the WAIF show, and then we discussed the possible problem of SIRIUS radio signal travelling to other cars who didn't order it.

Abu Snookums then brought up Julia Sweeney and her book, "Letting Go of God", Atheism, and the rest of the episode was a long, interesting discussion of religion, and what helped convert Abu to Islam while listening to the Art Bell show.
