The Title says it all, I listen to everything in the radio spectrum. More in the HF Range but anything far, wide, and anything inbetween, shortwave, scanners, VLF, and 1200Mhz, anything! This is all just my findings, postings, and what I find interesting. I might post samples of what I found, places Ive been, or set ups outdoors. If it has to do with Radio, it will be here!

<atom10:link xmlns:atom10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" rel="self" type="application/rss+xml" href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/RadioWaveListener" />
<atom10:link xmlns:atom10="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" rel="hub" href="http://pubsubhubbub.appspot.com/" />

ACARS

Well I got a scanner hooked up today, with a roof mounted antenna, I figure I would give some ACARS a listen, and its kinda active, didnt get much decoded....if your curious as to what ACARS is go here. http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/ACARS
Hadn't even been opened, Probably worth more unopened, but I don't care. Not bad deal for 99cents.
I have no radios at the moment, except my VLF Recorder. I do have 2 really nice antennas. A tuning loop, and a longwire with a Bal-Un (not sure on the Ratio).

But with winter right around the corner, I am itching and burning to get some kind of shack established! I first off plan on getting a Digital Synthesized and an Analog AM/FM Radio, Along the lines of a Fisher, Pioneer, Older Sony....etc... As for shortwave, not sure yet, I defiantly am going to have SSB. I also am going to continue my VLF Research, Its fascinating to me! This will be very soon, I might even get outside tonight and brush up on my skills, Need to find my Antenna of If I even still have it?.....Getting outside also has me taking pictures (another hobby, I have to many!!!!) So we will see, May the radio waves fall upon us!

VLF Session 1

Well this isnt my "first vlf outing" but just the first time I am posting it. I dont have any recordings from this outing just pictures, as the timing wasnt great. What I am trying to catch on VLF is....well anything really. Latly Ive been wanting to hear "whistlers". VLF is supposed to carry a variaty of different things, earth noise, static crashes, submarines, and testing stations. This was on October 17, 2009 between 7-8pm Central Time. The band was very quiet with slight crashes and static. Nothing worth putting up just yet. The location was 40miles from the nearest town, and luckly 8miles from the nearest Powerlines. My equipment is nothing great, well my record/radio is a Zoom H2 Recorder "using it as a VLF radio". The antenna is a whip I got from a RC Airplane Control these tend to have really long whips. Next time I will go to the same area and throw out 100ft of wire to see what I can catch.
