iTunes will have to pull their socks up...

Sainsbury's are currently selling new release CD's for £6.37

iTunes will no doubt be selling the download versions for £7.99

Some might say it's worth the extra pence to avoid the hassle of getting down to the shops to buy the discs. But here's where iTunes are falling down:

Most iTunes songs are up for sale at listenable but not very high fidelity bitrate of 128 kbps and they also have DRM copy protection embedded into the files. DRM added to these files means that the tunes will only play on PC's that are authorised to do so. All this for an asking price of £7.99 compared with top notch uncompressed and crystal clear CD quality at £6.37 from supermarkets.

iTunes should seriously consider switching to 320kbps and DRM free for all releases.

Heard a pretty creepy story today…

A guy I work with told me about his Mum’s friend who, up until recently kept a pet Python.

Now, apparently she loved this snake and had it in the house since it was a baby. She used to let it roam (or slither) around the house, and it would curl up at her feet quite often and doze away. She also used to let it lie at the bottom of her bed at night while she would stroke the animal with her feet. As far as I can make out, it grew to quite some size – as pythons do. She totally loved this snake.

A few weeks ago, she discovered that it had lost its appetite and was not feeding on any of the food she provided for it. The days went by, and still it would not touch its food. Worse still, on the nights she did let it into her bedroom to sleep with her, it would not settle as it did normally and instead would perform these odd coiling up movements.
She thought that possibly the snake was in some kind of pain, and so took it to the vet.

The vet examined it, and when he heard about the loss of appetite and then the subsequent funny coiling movements, he said:

“ You must get rid of this snake straight away”

“Why?” said the woman.

“Because…” said the vet, “Its getting ready to eat you”

Apparently, the snake had got to such a size (and because this woman had let it into her room and not kept in it’s cage) it now saw this sleeping human as potential prey. The loss of appetite and coiling movements were merely to make room for this huge meal and to prepare its insides for ingestion.

We've decided to re-open the blog...

This is just to post up our day to day findings and thoughts, so keep coming back to see what we have on our minds.

Today I am a pretty sore (and unfit) fellow. Yesterday, it took me from 9am right through to midnight to fit new flooring in our kitchen. By midnight I was like someone possessed. I was exhausted and starving but I just had to finish it at all costs. Just couldn't stop until it was completed.

The reason I'm telling you this, is I had 6 Music playing all day while I worked away. I'd forgotten how great that station is! Elbow front man Guy Garvey has a show on Sunday evening 10 until midnight and his show was one of my favourites.

Something I noticed though...either great minds think alike or 6 Music have a regular listener to our Radiodubster show on Dandelion Radio ;) I Lost count of the amount of bands they are playing on their shows that we have featured over the last 12 months. :) Keep it going I say!
