Wickett shared on Facebook, “THANK YOU to every LAZER Hellraiser for welcoming this White Claw-drinking, sports nerd, father of 3 into your mornings the last 5 years. Local radio is truly special, especially in a city like Des Moines, Iowa and at a station that’s been around for 30 years. I knew this was a special community at the 2021 Limp Bizkit show when a LAZER listener skipped up to me & said, “Welcome to the LAZER family, Wickett” and then skipped away.”

Wickett joined KAZR to co-host mornings with Heather Lee in April 2021 after hosting a weekly show for Saga’s “ESPN 1350/102.1” KRNT. Prior to arriving in Des Moines to accompany his wife Leigh McNabb when she joined Saga as Operations Manager in 2019, Wickett co-hosted middays at Audacy News/Talk 98.1 KMBZ-FM Kansas City, mornings at Sports 1250 WSSP Milwaukee from 2006 to 2016, also worked at Cumulus’ 1050 WTKA Ann Arbor MI. He also provides local sports updates and hosts a Friday show for KRNT and also currently hosts weekends for Westwood One Sports Network.

Martin has spent the past seventeen years at Audacy and predecessor CBS Radio joining the company in 2009 to program Hot AC “Alice 97.3” KLLC and CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ San Francisco. During his tenure would also oversee Rhythmic AC “Q102.1” KRBQ and Variety Hits “105.3 Dave-FM” KITS San Francisco and CHR “97.1 Amp Radio” KAMP Los Angeles. Before joining CBS/Audacy, Martin spent his career at Clear Channel rising from Music Director of 102.7 KIIS-FM Los Angeles to Operations Manager, while also programming KYSR Los Angeles, and KIOI, KMEL, and KYLD San Francisco. He gave up the programming duties at KLLC in January.

In a memo shared by the company, Martin wrote, “I’ve made the decision to step down from my role at Audacy on May 1st and begin the next phase of my career. Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to build and evolve programming platforms, develop meaningful artist partnerships, and create large scale events that connect brands with audiences in real, measurable ways. I’m proud of the work, the innovation, and the results.
At the core, I’ve always focused on building brands, developing talent, and creating moments that actually cut through, and that’s exactly what I plan to keep doing moving forward. I’m excited for what’s ahead. As always, thank you for your amazing partnership, support and mutual love for all things music and artistry. Music is how I breathe. Thank you for supplying the oxygen. ”

Audacy Chief Programming Officer Jeff Sottolano wrote:

I am writing to share that after 17 distinguished years with CBS Radio, Entercom and Audacy, Michael Martin is stepping down from his position as SVP of Programming and Head of Music Initiatives.

Michael joined then CBS Radio in 2009 after a successful career at Clear Channel Communications, leading our Bay Area music brands including KLLC, KMVQ and KITS. In 2014, Michael took on the newly created position of SVP of Programming and Music Initiatives, leading the company’s partnerships with the music industry. In this role, he has liaised with artists, labels and managers and collaborated with the company’s Format Vice Presidents and Brand Managers to innovate new on-air and off-air experiences for consumers and advertisers.

Those innovations have included the development of Audacy’s annual We Can Survive concert, which has featured more of music’s biggest stars than I can name, including Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Pitbull, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Tate McRae, and Coldplay. He has also overseen Audacy’s music partnership programs, including the new artist development program LAUNCH, which has played a crucial role in the recent breakouts of artists like Alex Warren and Jelly Roll.

Michael will be with us through May 1st while we work with our programming and events leadership to enable a smooth transition for our teams and partners.

Michael’s creativity and competitiveness have been a tremendous asset to Audacy. We will sorely miss him as we wish him well in the next chapter of his career.

Previously hards as “94X” on 94.1 K231BI Duluth and 104.3 KZIO Two Harbors from 2003 until Red Rock Radio sold the signals to Minnesota Public Radio in 2017, Midwest has reactivated its social media accounts promoting the upcoming return as “98X“. Such a move would replace Hot AC “Hot 98.1” on 970 WDUL/W251CD Superior WI.

Like it did for Red Rock Radio, the X brand would serve as a flanker to sister Classic Rock 94.9 KQDS. KQDS has since gained a new Rock competitor in Townsquare Media’s “Sasquatch 92.1” WWPE-FM Hermantown. KQDS led the market with a 16.2 share in the Fall 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings, while WWPE-FM was sixth at a 4.8.

WDUL, which switched from Westwood One’s CHR feed to Hot AC when the CHR network was discontinued last March, is directly competing with sister “My 95.7” KDAL-FM and Townsquare’s “Mix 108” KBMX. KBMX currently has a 4.2 share, KDAL-FM a 3.0 share, while WDUL did not register.

The organizations note that a format merger agreement has not been agreed to yet, but rather to begin the process to “determine how the two organizations can work together more effectively and efficiently while protecting and expanding local services.”

Rocky Mountain Public Media operates the statewide “Rocky Mountain PBS” seen on KRMA-TV Denver, KTSC Pueblo, KRMJ Grand Junction, KRMU Durango and dozens of low power signals across Colorado and neighboring states, Jazz 89.3 KUVO Denver, and Urban Alternative “104.7 The Drop” K284CI/KUVO-HD2 Denver. Community Radio For Northern Colorado owns Public News/Talk 91.5 KUNC Greeley/Fort Collins and AAA “105.5 The Colorado Sound” KJAC Timnath.

KUNC/KJAC President Tammy Terwelp said, “KUNC and The Colorado Sound will continue their history of service to Northern Colorado and now have an opportunity for that service and our community connections to grow and deepen. We remain committed to our audience and supporters. This potential merger allows public media to be stronger and more resilient for all.”

The organizations state that if approved, they will be able share back-office operational support such as HR, finance and fundraising to improve efficiency, better meet local community needs, invest in technology, support award-winning teams with enhanced benefits and support, and remain focused on their communities they cover. They also emphasize that branding, editorial decisions, programming, and community engagement remain local with no plans to make any staff reductions.

RMPM President/CEO Amanda Mountain commented, “RMPM has always been committed to strengthening the civic fabric of Colorado. hrough collaboration and innovation, we are confident this merger would keep public media centered on the communities we serve while expanding the public trust and connecting Coloradans to each other in ways that build bridges.”

Marlins President of Business Carolina O’Connor said, “Marlins baseball has a deep connection with fans across South Florida, and it is especially meaningful to reunite with WQAM, the station that helped bring our inaugural season to life on the airwaves in 1993. Audacy’s powerful broadcast and digital platforms will help us reach fans wherever they are while continuing to grow the Marlins brand and strengthen our connection with the South Florida community.”

Audacy Regional President Claudia Menegus commented, “Bringing Marlins baseball back to WQAM is a powerful homecoming that reunites two of South Florida’s most iconic sports brands. We are committed to giving fans a unified front-row seat to everything Marlins baseball, and by leveraging the combined reach of 104.3 FM and 560 AM, we are creating an unrivaled home for the fans. Our focus has always been and remains centered on our local community and a commitment to informing and entertaining our South Florida fans.”

In addition to game coverage, WQAM will feature expanded Marlins programming across the station with regular appearances from Marlins Manager Clayton McCullough, players and executives and offseason programming.

Original Report 3/24: With the MLB regular season days away, the Miami Marlins have found a new radio home.

While no official announcement has been made by the franchise or station, marketing materials promoting Friday’s season opener and the team’s schedule list Audacy Sports 560 WQAM/104.3 WQAM-FM as the home for all game broadcasts. 560 WQAM served as the home of Marlins games from their inaugural season in 1993 until 2007 marking a return for the team.

WQAM also serves as radio home for the NBA’s Miami Heat, NHL’s Florida Panthers and University of Miami sports.

iHeartMedia’s “Fox Sports 940” WINZ had carried Marlins games from 2014 until 2025. WINZ’s pending downgrade to just 16 watts at night would have made them virtually useless to continue to carry Marlins games.
