I really love being able to change up my nail paint. For less than $5 (if you like Wet and Wild like I do), you can treat yourself to a manicure that is all you. Below are some of my recent favorites. One I would really like to talk about is the Ombre nail. This is a really fun thing to try. The next time you go on a polish run, litterly grab every color in the color set. In the store they are usually organized in shades anyway. Have fun with it. I am currently sporting Wet and Wild's "Wild Shine" colection in:

-tickled pink 402a

-sunny side up 405

-casting call 462

-dream poppy 429d

-Jezzabel  463

It's pretty spring like (pretty much commiting a fashion faux pas, I'm sure) but just the lift I need in the winter!

By the way, I can not tell a lie, I didn't try all of these variations. Please click on the photos to find the true artist behind the Ombre artwork!

Office space is no different. Simetimes you are lucky to find a place with enough livng space to seperate your task corner from it all....and other times you end up with a huge L shaped executive style desk in your bedroom! (uggh. That thing HAS to go!). I have been toying with the idea of setting up a great place to work that can be easily tucked away. Here are a few of my favorites!

Nothing like knowing there is a blizzard on the way and you don't have to shovel. Am I right?! However, just like Sir Newton stated, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Yeah, it's great to know that busted water heater will not come out of your pocket but- my goodness- unpaintable white walls feel "assylum-like"! My goal is share some ideas I have run accross to help warm up those stark walls WITHOUT signing away your security deposit.

Adding color to your walls:

Nothing like a splash of color to act as a defribulator to your room ::CLEAR!::

Over at Ispydiy.com, Jenni has come up with a great way to share instant photos with minimal damage. Using black ribbon, thumbtacks, clothespins, and her Fujifilm Instax210, She has transformed a simple wall to a mini art gallary! Genious! (wish I had thought of that)

As I have said before, I have an eclectic choice of activities and ideas so hang on and get ready for this one.

One thing I am taking a strong liking to recently is Hijab inspired fashion. I believe personally that the world has become openly and overly sexualized. You can see all that is meant for your mate on someone walking down the street on a regular basis. There are no more secrets it seems.

Hijab is given the meaning of modesty, privacy, and morality (and is also used to refer to the actual headdress often- I'm talking about just the fashion). I have held these beliefs for a while. The cherry on the top came when I stubbled upon www.hijabiestyle.com. This site shows so many options I just can't wait to start trying some. I LOVE this site as well as the modesty it promotes. While I do not see myself converting religions (or wearing the Khimar as that is a sacred item that I wouldn't dare to cheapen by immitating. Respect comes before fashion at all times) I do hope to see more young ladies convert their wardrobes to reflect the elegance and modesty shown here.

I know I plan to. I am posting/linking some of my favorite styles from hijabiestyle.com below. These are not my designs and all credit goes to the author of the site.

Say it aint so!

It seems like the word "economy" is on every one's lips these days...so much so its getting annoying. As a business person myself and being married to a Financial Planner, it gets really annoying to hear people blame things completely unrelated to the economy. How the heck is the current weather because of the economic climate...seriously? I'm no expert, my husband is but I'm not going to drum up a conversation on the economy (although I will rant :0) let alone point fingers on who is to blame. WE ALL are to blame. We voted for our representatives and WE allowed for it to come to this. People remember two things please:

1. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. (Prov. 17:28 KJV)

2. When you point a finger at others there are always 3 fingers pointing right back at you.

That's all.
But it was not discouraging. I enjoyed myself. I was able to be around people with the same amount of ambition if not more. I would definitely go again and look forward what is ahead.

So what am I up to? Glad you asked. I am still working for the same company as before but have been able to open a few more doors for myself by doing some uncommon tasks. I volunteered my time to help some other departments although extra pay was not involved. Took on some extra tasks without much more than a thank you and now I am in line to accept a new position. In the words of the wise wise Ms. Frizzle of the childhood show "The Magic School Bus", "Its time to take chances, make mistakes and get messy!".

I will continue to make things to go into my portfolio and while it may or may not lead to a design position it is something I enjoy doing in my spare time.
If you’re looking for a deal it is a great time to go but if you’re not looking for flip flops and you just want to look around….avoid doing so on Saturday. This will not be the ideal place or day to window shop.

Warning: If you are going in that general direction Saturday be prepared for total pandemonium inside of the store as well as in the parking lot. It is common for lines to go to the back of the store and sometimes wrap around the perimeter for this event! Rita’s ice day has nothing on Flip flop day! Yes flip flops are usually only $3 or $2.50 if you buy 2 pair- but this is a very popular event none the less.

Shopper alert: If you are looking for a deal on summer shoes for a large family this is a great opportunity. The limit is 5 pair per customer and they usually have a great color selection. Really what’s better than knowing you have a couple pairs of flip flops to throw on you or the kids before you head out the door! They go with almost everything, are cheap enough to let the kids experiment with and if they get damaged...who cares! If you do plan to attend the event here are 2 tips:

1.     Kids count as customers.
a. If you need to purchase shoes for the kiddies bring them. If they walk and can pay, they can purchase. I suggest cash for that method incase they decide to see each “payer” as a customer and do not allow you to use your card for multiple transactions.

2. Don’t look for size/color/gender fit. Just grab anything and get in line.
a. Old Navy adheres to its return/exchange policy during this time-not to mention after the mayhem they will have to restock all flip flops. That means the next day-heck the next week even-fresh pickings and short lines for you at the sale price. This is one of the best tactics I heard from someone in line last year. Don’t waste your time sifting through the piles of flip flops in your size, waiting for the next batch of blue’s to come from the back or worry about trekking through the thralls to get to the kids/men’s/women’s section. Grab 5 pair of anything and get in line! You have 30-45 days to exchange your merchandise for a like product -so why waste time. Just be sure (as with all stores) you do not remove tags and bring your receipt just in case.

…oh and yes, it’s that serious.

You kind of get in a rut and just coast through life and just let things happen to you instead of making them happen for you. Everything is just....foggy. I did and I just had an awakening of sorts. What is the use of life if you are just going to let it take you. The purpose of life is to live it to your best ability. I am making a point from here till I'm kickin and screaming out of here to live my best life. Starting today...well last week really but whos counting.

First rule of living a better life: Smile and laugh more often

I am going to make everyday count!

Ya'll know that song is catchy and don't try to act like you don't know it. Anyway...I just finished one of those "20 million questions, fill out blank, forward and hope you really don't get too many back" thingys. The theme was Christmas and I thought I would share. Sharing is caring...LOL.
::
:::::
:::::::
:::::::::
:::::::::::

Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping! I think it is fun. If I had my way all gifts would look like this….
::boxes::

Real tree or Artificial? Artificial. My argument: No Needles on the floor or poking you in your arm while you decorate (saves a lot of time vacuuming till July to clean up), no need to water, You tote it in the house or out to the dumpster only once, and You can always pack it up or put it up when you are ready (not when they go on sale. Any rebuttals?

3. When do you put up the tree? I would like to put it up the day after thanksgiving, however I am currently STILL waiting for manny to come home with a real tree (we had an agreement that one picks the type of tree and the other picks the type of lights, so real tree and white lights).

4. When do you take the tree down? Um…you HAVE to take it down?! Well if I have to I would say after New Years but before It is time to put it back up again. Is that specific enough?

5. Do you like eggnog? LOOOOOOOVE it! This is the time of year that I usually stop at some gas station (turkey hill, wawa, sheets, etc) and go just to buy Stauffers animal crackers and one eggnog. Yum!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Candy Land board game….oh wait Mall Madness…..Oh wait I loved my easy bake oven (spoken as a true fat kid, I still have Fat kid thoughts….mmmmmm brownies….)

7. Hardest person to buy for? Manny (the hubby)

8. Easiest person to buy for? My Mom (We usually get together sometime after Christmas or on the day before and I say okay pick what you want out of the store. She does and I pay…how much easier can it get?!)

9. Do you have a nativity scene? No I always thought those things were a waste of space, time, and money. I hold meaning in my heart I don’t need the junk. I’m already a pack rat.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Sweat Pants from manny. He’ll do better this time because I told him where to go. If not I’m asking for the receipt for Christmas.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The claymation Christmas movies. Rudolph, the year there was no Santa and frosty the snowman. However I HATE the California raisins. I liked them when I was young and dumb but it is something about watching a show about raisins that are dark and speak jive and sing. It is a bit racially condescending.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I always plan to go early but I usually go the last payday before….oops that’s this Friday! Dang it did it again!

14. Clear lights or multi-colored lights? Clear and it’s not up for discussion. There are many ways to do clear lights. My favorites are the frosted pearl! How can you say no to such a classic look?!
::house::

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Cookies! Fresh baked with hot chocolate or apple cider.

16. Lights on the tree? Yes. How else will Santa see and know where to leave the gifts! ::wink,wink::

17. Favorite Christmas song? Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? TRAVEL I ain’t cleaning up nothin! I mean, my home is too small for all of my family.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Well there’s dasher and donner and comet and blitzen, there’s…um well .no but I can Google it. Besides I can remember Rudolph and without him they would be flying deer in the dark! Dang.. should have let him in on those reindeer games….

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Ummmm…. I say a star.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning! They are called Christmas Presents not Christmas EVE presents….Gosh!

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? The commercialism and the fact that although the year should be about giving, cheer and loving your fellow man…You always get some SOB who can’t say excuse me, hold a door when you have your hands full or who cuts you off in traffic or cuts in front of you in line or snatches that last gift you have been looking for out of your cart! AY WHERE’S YOUR FRICKIN CHRISTMAS CHEER BUDDY!

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Right now I love bright colored Christmas. I think that it warms up an otherwise cold season! So pinks oranges and teals.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Umm….one made by my family. So Aunt Pam’s deviled eggs and church rice, mom’s Turkey (always the best and I know her secret but I’ll never tell!), Traci’s umm……., Laurens……… well….., Uncle Keith who never cooks but always brings something……. LOL Just kidding Traci and Lauren. Lauren makes great pasta salad and Traci makes the best….well she’s working on it! But she has a lot of love and compassion for everyone and more patience than I have ever seen in anyone and that fills me up!

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Well I have a nice list going but I want to volunteer at the salvation army toy give away first then for me I want this jewelry box at the Marshall’s here. It is by Red box I think and it is black snake skin and has lots of compartments including a drawer the pulls out to be a travel jewelry case, I also want a beach bike with a basket on the front oh and world peace. No body said what do you think you will get this year they said what do you want.

26. Who is most likely to respond to this? NO One. I love Ya’ll but I know you all are not going to read all of my ranting and raving let alone respond, but its okay. Happy Christmas anyhow!

Is anyone really being original these days anyway?! Oh ANNNNND (again) before you say anything else, I am going to take up for a few celebs. Everyone is talking about how celebs steal style. You need to see and example of styles being "recycled" go here. It is a neutral source (great site!! kudos) and look up the feature De ja Vu. They have done my ....umm I mean their research. Seriously, stop coming at these people. They have lots of people telling them what to wear, what to say, how to dress, so on and so forth. If anyone is to blame it would be the stylists. Yes! I am blaming the stylists. Do you really think that Beyonce or Rhianna pick out their own clothing for an album cover or to introduce a new style. Its comical to think that when millions of dollars are on the line Def Jam says "sure Rhi Rhi, you can cut your hair, dye it black, and transform your whole style because you want to". Be nice if it did but it ain't happenin. They have people on the payroll for that stuff. If no one else believes in you, you have to have confidence in your self. The confidence to be able to visualize your biggest dream and believe that you can make it there, no matter how off the charts it may seem to everyone else. Everyone else can say you can't do whatever it is that you want to do but never tell yourself no.

Just felt like being inspirational.
