Yes People, I use Special Effects.

When I filmed "Bad Dog" I had no idea that some people don't have a concept of special effects on Youtube.

SPOILER ALERT: At the end of this video I punt a cute little white fluffy dog into the atomosphere.

Some people laughed... I laughed. Others asked me why I would do that to that poor little dog. Even if I was holding the dog, I was still asked if I had actually kicked it. I answered "Yes" thinking it was a joke. it wasn't.

I ended up having to put a disclaimer on the video stating that no dogs were harmed and that it was special effects because I kept receiving messages asking me how I could be so cruel.

The interesting thing to me is that it's not my best special effects job and I did it that way purposely so it would be viewed as a joke.

I think it's hilarious :)

The Newest Dance Craze!

So there we were, driving around Pensacola Florida looking for locations to dance! Yep, dance the Boogeyman Boogie. It was inspired by a comment from my cousin Erik one day. We were talking about skit ideas and he turned to Klee and said "You guys should do something with that ridiculous dance that Klee does" and the Boogeyman Boogie was born.

After the original video of stop motion dancing we decided to pick it up a notch and travel around to certain locations and let loose with the dancing. While at Cordova Mall we met an awesome group who agreed to boogie with us... Then we got kicked out for filming in the mall.

We then headed out towards downtown where an art festival was going on... It seemed like the patrons to this festival were a little less enthusiastic about someone doing a weird dance with a mask on, they kind of lifted an eyebrow and then continued to talk about how seahorse art was fascinating.

This was an extremely fun project, the looks and laughs we got while running around dancing trying to beat the sunset was the best part.

So... Can you boogeyman boogie?

Is Your Girlfriend an Alien?

We filmed a skit called "Is Your Girlfriend an Alien?" which follows me and my paranoid note keeping of her pampering herself and having a normal day. Klee was a great sport about this, she allowed me to film her while she conducted very private and off limits female pampering rituals. At one point she said she may loose her "Woman Card" for allowing the video to go public.

Luckily No one has come to take her "Woman Card" away

The Day of The Dead

We filmed a skit called "Be Careful What You Ask For" at an old cemetery here in Pensacola Florida... The name of the cemetery escapes me but it is an old and interesting place as you can see from the video.

That morning Klee put together her makeup and outfit for the "Dead Girlfriend" role of the skit. I had to wonder what people were thinking when we rolled up with a camera, purple umbrella, a zombie, and ran around the cemetery. Earlier we had stopped at a gas station and when asked we responded with "We're filming a skit." they sort of nodded their heads as they stared at Klee cautiously.

It was an awesome project and the cemetery is cool to visit.

30 Videos in 30 Days

In the last year I have bounced around with my Youtube channel, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it. After a lot of thinking and making excuses for why it just wasn’t the right time to film a certain skit, I decided to do a thirty day challenge. In the challenge the key was to write, storyboard, film, act, edit and create thirty original videos in thirty days.

The purpose of this challenge was to create new habits when it came to the videos that I produced, my old habits were not working for me and in all honesty I wasn’t challenging myself enough. I had a bunch of brilliant reasons why I could not do something. I’d blame the weather, my lack of equipment, my shyness, my peers, Youtube, pretty much who ever or what ever I could blame for not doing more with my channel.

I can tell you that a lot has changed in those thirty days, mostly how I feel about my abilities and creativity as a film maker.

I suggest to anyone, that if you have doubts in your abilities to do anything, challenge yourself for thirty days and don’t give up, even when it seems like everything that could go wrong has gone wrong… Once you make it across that bridge, you will be amazed at how much you can do.

Ok, so that’s it for that. This blog is dedicated to my own thoughts and what ever else goes on when creating videos.
