The female body is one of nature’s most wonderful and complex creations. It is the origin of all human life. A woman’s journey in life is punctuated by many milestones; childhood, puberty, matrimony, pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, each milestone special in its own way.

Your reproductive health is just as important as other aspects of your health. A better understanding of reproductive system can help gain a clearer picture of just how sensitive reproductive organs are and how they help you be what you are.

The female reproductive system includes the external genital organs and the internal reproductive organs

The external reproductive organs

Vulva: This is the external part of the female reproductive organs located between the legs. It covers the opening to the Vagina and other reproductive organs located inside the body.

Located just above the top of the vaginal opening is a fleshy area called the mons pubis. Two pairs of skin flaps called the labia (labia majora and labia minora) surround the vaginal opening, which protect the clitoris and the vaginal opening. When girls become sexually mature, the outer labia and the mons pubis are covered by pubic hair.

Clitoris: A small sensory organ is located toward the front of the vulva where the folds of the labia join. The clitoris is the reproductive organ most involved in sexual pleasure.

The top part of the clitoris is a short protrusion above the vaginal opening. Its tip is very sensitive, so the clitoris is protected by a flap of skin, which is known as the hood. When a woman is sexually aroused, blood rushes to the clitoris, making it the most important organ for female sexual response.

Urethral opening: It is the opening between the clitoris and the Vagina through which a woman urinates.

G-spot: (Grafenberg spot) also known as the urethral sponge is a small area behind the pubic bone and a very sensitive area of the Vagina. It is an erogenous zone that when stimulated leads to high levels of sexual arousal and powerful orgasms.

Internal reproductive organs

Vagina: It is a muscular, hollow tube that extends from the vaginal opening to the Uterus. The vagina's muscular walls are lined with mucous membranes, which protect and keep it moist.

The Vagina has several important functions:

Helps in sexual intercourse.
*

Pathway for the baby to come out of the mother’s womb.
*

Acts as the route for the menstrual blood to leave the body from the Uterus.

Hymen: This is a thin sheet of tissue with 1 or more holes in it. The hymen partially covers the opening of the Vagina. The hymen may bleed when it tears. This may tear during sexual intercourse or even during activities like horse riding, cycling or gymnastics. This may accompanied by pain.

Cervix: It is the lower portion of the Uterus that opens into the Vagina. The Cervix is the opening that Sperm must pass through in order to reach the egg. During delivery the baby also goes through the Cervix as it exits the Uterus and enters the Vagina. The Cervix dilates to about 4 inches in diameter during labor.

Uterus: Also known as the womb. The Uterus is shaped like an upside-down pear and has a thick lining and muscular walls. An egg that has been fertilized will implant itself in the Uterus and will continue to develop in the Uterus throughout the pregnancy. These muscles in the uterine walls can expand and contract in order to accommodate a growing baby and then help push the baby out during labor.

Fallopian tubes: There are two fallopian tubes, each attached to a side of the Uterus. There are 20–25 finger-like structures (fimbriae) at the ends that hover just above the ovaries and work to collect the mature egg when it is released

Once the egg is in the fallopian tube, tiny hairs in the tube's lining help push it down the narrow passageway toward the Uterus. It is in the fallopian tubes that fertilization of the egg (egg mating with the sperm) will take place.

Ovaries: Ovaries are two small, almond-shaped glands that produce eggs. The ovaries also make the sex hormones Estrogen and Progesterone. An egg is released from the Ovary roughly every 28 days in a process called Ovulation.

The breast : The female breasts contain the mammary glands, which secrete milk used to feed infants. Although the primary function of the breasts is production of milk for the newborn baby, the female breasts play an important part in female sexual behavior. Stimulation of the female breasts enhances the sexual pleasure of a woman.

Functions of female reproductive system

* Produce and sustain the female sex Cells (egg Cells or ova).
* Transport these Cells to a site where they may be fertilized by sperm, once fertilized by the sperm, implant the fertilized egg in to the walls of the Uterus and initiate pregnancy.
* Provide a favorable environment for the developing baby.
* Move the baby to the outside environment once the baby is completely developed.
* Produce the female sex hormones that maintain the reproductive cycle.

A database is a collection of related data stored in an efficient and compact manner. The word “efficient” means that stored data can be accessed very easily and quickly.

The data of any organization is its integral part. The data is very important for developing new products and their marketing. The data must be accurate and available when needed. This is the reason that all organization must organize and manage their data into database. The databases are used for variety of purposes in as organization. For example, when you purchase goods from your local supermarket, the checkout assistant will pass the purchased product through a scanner device known as bar code reader. This device will read the bar code printed on the product and gives the accurate price of the item. Actually, the bar code reader is accessing the database, which contains the information about the products. The bar code reader is linked to a database application program, which uses the bar code to access price of item. The database program automatically updates the database. The assistant can also check whether a required item is in stock by running the database application program. Similarly, you can purchase goods using your credit card. Your credit is checked by a card reader linked to a computer system. In this case, there is a database somewhere that contains information about your credit. Almost all organizations and government departments of every country in world use database to maintain their records. Some examples of large databases that have been developed around the world are:

When you draw amount from bank through ATM card, you are accessing the database; your account is accessed and checked through auto teller machine. When you draw some amount from your account, your record in the database is automatically updated immediately.

When you visit your local library, there may be a computerized database containing details of the books in the library. There will be a computerized index, which allows you to find a book based on its title, its author’s name etc.

The meteorological organization contains databases having information about current and previous meteorological data. The meteorological department is totally dependent on the meteorological data.

A database may be generated and maintained manually or it may be computerized. The library card catalog is an example of a database that is created and maintained manually. On the other hand, a computerized database may be created and maintained either by using application program, which is developed specifically for that purpose or by a database management systems.

Normally, a windows restart will allow you to delete such files or folders that are being used by other program, but if you want to manage it without restart your computer then simply you need to download a freeware tool called Unlocker.

You can download this tool for any windows version using Unlocker link. Download it and run the easy setup.

After installation, right click on file or folder that you want to delete and select the option Unlocker.

If your requested file or folder is used or locked by other application then a small window listing of lockers will appear.

Here simply click on “Unlock All” button and now you can easily delete this file.

Congratulations to teachers recognised in the 2009 Awards for Teaching Excellence.

The Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence are an initiative of Teaching Australia. They celebrate teaching and its pivotal role in nation building.

Coral Connor, a Mathematics teacher from Northern Beaches Christian School has been recognised in the 'Excellence by a Teacher' category, while Leigh Williams from Christian Outreach College is recognised for excellence in the 'Beginning Teacher' category.

Coral is an innovator in the application of new technologies to the teaching of Mathematics, both for online and onsite students. Her methodology helps to bring maths alive to all students, including those with learning difficulties and disabilities. Coral's citation is on the Teaching Australia site

Leigh "stretches her students academically, motivates them intellectually and inspires them with a passion for mathematics and science," her citation says. It notes that despite being at an early stageg of her career, Leigh shows leadership both in and outside her school.

The awards were presented by Education Minister Julia Gillard during a ceremony at Parliament House, Canberra, to mark World Teachers Day.

gw sndiri pernah tu kaya gitu.. lagi pas enak jalan2, eh taunya malah putus tu sendal.. waktu itu di sekeliling gw lagi ga ada warung pula.. yang ada cm tukang minuman di pinggir jalan.. pikir punya pikir, akhirnya gw coba perbaikin sendal gw pake sedotan.. sedotan untuk minuman botol.. gw minta sama tu tukang minuman 1 sedotan buat repair sementara sendal gw..

sedotan:
so.. gw mau share nih cara2nya.. tutorial + pic.. sapa tau ada yg sendalnya putus tiba2 di tengah jalan trus bisa repair sementara.. ato mungkin lagi ga bawa uang banyak.. harga sendal jepit kan kisaran 6rebu-10rebu perak.. kalo di kantong cm ada 2rebu perak, cara ini bisa bantu nolong.. hehe..

cara-caranya:

1. pilih sedotan yang sewarna dengan sendal jepit.. kalo misalnya ga ada, ya uda terpaksa beda warna, namanya jg darurat.. hehe..
2. lipat sedotan
3. kemudian ikatkan sehingga membentuk simpul seperti ini
4. jika ada gunting, boleh ditambah optional ini.. gunting sedotan lain, seukuran jepitan sendal.. (ilustrasi menggunakan sedotan warna lain, spy terlihat jelas, nanti prakteknya sih pake warna yang sama ya, spy ga kliatan belang.. hehe..)

Ada dua hal yang sangat mengganggu saat kita menerima email: Hoax dan Spam. Hoax adalah email peringatan atau nasehat palsu yang biasanya diakhiri dengan himbauan agar menyebarkannya seluas-luasnya. Sedangkan spam adalah suatu pesan yang tidak dikehendaki oleh pembacanya, dan seringkali berupa iklan suatu produk. Tips dan Trik ini berusaha membahas secara singkat mengenai ciri-ciri dan apa yang harus dilakukan jika kita menerima hoax atau spam.

HOAX

Saat ini seringkali ada email-email yang memperingatkan akan adanya ancaman dari suatu virus komputer, atau warning sejenis lainnya. Namun demikian, seringkali warning ini tidaklah benar adanya, melainkan sekedar ingin membuat orang menjadi cemas dan panik. Warning semacam ini diistilah sebagai "HOAX". Hoax didefinisikan sebagai berita palsu yang memanfaatkan iktikad baik pembaca, sehingga berita tersebut disebarluaskan sehingga lalu lintas peredaran data di internet menjadi makin padat.

Ciri-ciri

Didistribusikan via email, dan seringkali memanfaatkan media mailing list karena efeknya lebih terasa.

Isinya berisi pesan yang membuat cemas, panik para pembacanya.

Hoax ini memanfaatkan iktikad baik si pembaca, sehingga pembaca email ini tanpa meneliti lebih dahulu kebenaran beritanya, langsung segera menyebarkannya ke forum yang lebih luas. Akibatnya lalu lintas peredaran data di internet makin padat dengan berita yang tidak benar.

Biasanya pengirim awal hoax ini tidak diketahui identitasnya.

Apa yang harus kita lakukan bila menerima Hoax ?

Jika menerima email berisi warning akan ancaman virus disertai himbauan agar menyebarkannya seluas-luasnya, maka lebih baik warning tsb. jangan disebarkan dulu sebelum yakin akan kebenaran isinya.

Periksalah terlebih dahulu, apakah warning itu termasuk kategori Hoax atau bukan, lewat search engine (google.com, altavista.com dsb.) atau langsung mengakses situs-situs yang didedikasikan untuk menghadapi Hoax, seperti misalnya: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html http://www.europe.f-secure.com/news/hoax.htm

SPAM

Sering kita memperoleh email mengenai promosi suatu produk, suatu propaganda mengenai faham, yang sebenarnya kita tidak mengharapkan untuk menerimanya. Email semacam ini dikategorikan sebagai "spam". Ada beberapa definisi mengenai spam. Diantaranya adalah definisi yang dicantumkan di http://tuxedo.org/jargon/jargon.html#spam

Membuat crash suatu program dengan memakai buffer yang menggunakan input data terlalu besar.

Mengirimkan suatu pesan ke newsgroup menyebabkan forum tersebut penuh dengan pesan yang tidak relevan.

Mempostingkan artikel ke banyak newsgroup atau mailing list. Hal ini disebut juga ECP (Excessive Cross-Posting).

Memborbardir suatu newsgroup/mailing list dengan kopi-an suatu artikel yang sama. Hal ini diistilahkan EMP( Excessive Multi-Posting).

Mengirimkan banyak email serupa yang tidak diharapkan oleh pembacanya, terutama yang berkaitan dengan iklan suatu produk.

Output yang besar dan menjengkelkan. Misalnya terjadi pada seorang pengguna IRC yang beranjak sebentar dari monitor, kemudian saat kembali seringkali merasa jengkel melihat kalimat yang mungkin terdiri dari beratus-ratus baris. Ini dikategorikan juga sebagai spam. Spam ini sangat mengganggu, terutama bagi user yang bandwith koneksi internetnya kecil, tidak memiliki waktu luang untuk mengakses internet, atau kuota emailnya dibatasi.

Jangan sekali-kali merespon spamming mail.

Jangan sekali-kali meresply spamming mail dengan kata "remove". Hal ini akan mengakibatkan email dicatat sebagai email yang aktif, dan akibatnya alamat akan dicantumkan pada list yang lain. Akibatnya akan menerima lagi spamming-mail.

Jangan mengakses website yang direkomendasikan dalam spamming mail tersebut. Akses ini akan dimonitor, dan berfungsi sebagai alat validitas alamat email. Selanjutnya kita tidak akan bebas dari spamming-mail.

Jangan sekali-kali men-sign-up suatu site yang menjanjikan bahwa alamat kita akan dihapus dari suatu list spamming-mail. Dengan menuliskan alamat kita, berarti kita memberikan informasi alamat email kita pada pengelola situs tsb., dan kebanyakan mereka berperan sebagai kolektor alamat email.

Janganlah mengirimkan complain kita ke pengirim spamming-mail

Janganlah sekali-kali mematuhi "petunjuk" agar didrop dari mailing list mereka sebagaimana diberikan di bagian akhir spamming-mail tersebut. Akan tetapi kirimkan complain pada ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Linus Si Pencipta Linux

Linus Torvalds dilahirkan di Helsinki, Finlandia, pada tanggal 28 Desember 1969. Dalam usianya yang ke 10, Linus mulai berkecimpung di dalam pemograman komputer, dengan menggunakan komputer milik kakeknya, Commodore VIC-20. Komputing pun menjadi hobinya. Pada tahun 1988 Linus diterima menjadi mahasiswa di University of Helsinki, Finlandia. Pada tahun 1990, Linus memulai kelas pemograman C pertamanya. Pada tahun 1991, Linus membeli PC pertamanya,dan dia tidak puas dengan sistem operasi pada komputernya. Saat itu, komputernya menggunakan MS-DOS (Disk Operation System, sistem operasi buatan Microsoft), tapi Linus lebih cenderung untuk menggunakan sistem operasi UNIX, seperti yang digunakan pada komputer milik unversitasnya.

Akhirnya, dia memutuskan untuk menciptakan versi yang bisa digunakan unuk PC dari UNIX. Kerja keras selama berbulan-bulan menghasilkan cikal bakal dari sistem operasi yang dikenal sebagai Linux, yang kelak delapan tahun kemudian dikembangkan menjadi apa yang dikatakan oleh banyak pengamat sebagai ancaman bagi raksasa Microsoft yang sangat dikenal dengan sistem operasi Windowsnya.

Begitu Linus berhasil menciptakan versi kasar dari Linux, dia memposting pesan dalam internet untuk mengenalkan sistem barunya kepada pengguna PC yang lain. Linus membuat softwarenya dapat didownload secara percuma, dan, sebagaimana biasa dilakukan oleh sesama software developer pada saat itu, dia merilis source codenya, yang berarti bahwa semua orang yang memiliki pengetahuan tentang pemograman komputer dapat memodifikasi Linux untuk disesuaikan dengan tujuan mereka masing-masing. Linux segera memiliki banyak pendukung yang antusias, karena mereka dapat memiliki akses ke source codenya, dan dapat menolong Linus untuk memperbaiki dan menyempurnakan software tersebut. Mengoperasikan Linux membutuhkan kecerdasan tehnik yang cukup, sebab mengoperasikannya tidak semudah menggunakan sistem operasi yang lebih populer, seperti Windows, Mac milik Apple Computer, atau OS/2 milik IBM. Namun, karena para volunteer developer memuji diri sendiri akan kualitas kerja kerasnya, Linux menjadi cukup dikenal dengan keungulan sebagai sistem yang efisien dan jarang sekali terjadi crash.

Linux mendapatkan kejayaannya pada akhir 1990-an ketika para kompetitor dari Microsoft mulai mengembangkan sistem operasi tersebut secara serius. Perusahan Netscape Communication, Corel, Oracle, Intel dan perusahaan-perusahaan lain mengumumkan bahwa mereka berencana untuk mensuport Linux sebagai alternatif yang tidak mahal dari Windows. Saat skenario ini mulai terbentuk, pengemar Linux dan media menggambarkan Linus sebagai David yang maju melawan Raksasa, Bill Gates, salah satu pendiri dan pimpinan Microsoft.

Linus mengatakan dia tidak iri dengan kesuksesan keuangan dari Bill Gates, atau Microsoft. Pada tahun 1999, diperkirakan tujuh juta komputer beroperasi dengan menggunakan Linux, masih bisa didapatkan secara percuma,dan banyak perusahaan software besar mengumumkan berencana akan mendukungnya. Dalam waktu yang sama, Linus mengambil posisi di Transmeta Corp., yang dimiliki oleh salah satu pendiri Paul Allen, bekerja dalam sebuah proyek yang sangat rahasia, yang diasumsikan oleh banyak komunitas high-tech akan berkembang beberapa serangan di masa depan bagi kerajaan Microsoft.

Kali ini kita akan membahas seorang yang sangat terkenal karena kepandaian dan kejeniusannya serta kekayaannya. Awalnya ia adalah seorang programmer komputer dan akhirnya saat ini menjadi seorang pimpinan perusahaan terkemuka. Sebagian besar produk perusahaannya digunakan di seluruh dunia. Ia adalah William Henry Gates. William Henry Gates III atau lebih terkenal dengan sebutan Bill Gates, lahir di Seatle, Washington pada tanggal 28 Oktober 1955. Ayah Bill, Bill Gates Jr., bekerja di sebuah firma hukum sebagai seorang pengacara dan ibunya, Mary, adalah seorang mantan guru. Bill adalah anak kedua dari tiga bersaudara. Sejak kecil Bill mempunyai hobi "hiking", bahkan hingga kini pun kegiatan ini masih sering dilakukannya bila ia sedang "berpikir".

Bill kecil mampu dengan mudah melewati masa sekolah dasar dengan nilai sangat memuaskan, terutama dalam pelajaran IPA dan Matematika. Mengetahui hal ini, orang tua Bill menyekolahkannya di sebuah sekolah swasta yang terkenal dengan pembinaan akademik yang baik, bernama "LAKESIDE". Pada saat itu , Lakeside baru saja membeli sebuah komputer, dan dalam waktu seminggu, Bill Gates, Paul Allen dan beberapa siswa lainnya (sebagian besar nantinya menjadi programmer pertama MICROSOFT) sudah menghabiskan semua jam pelajaran komputer untuk satu tahun.

Kemampuan komputer Bill Gates sudah diakui sejak dia masih bersekolah di Lakeside. Dimulai dengan meng"hack" komputer sekolah, mengubah jadwal, dan penempatan siswa. Tahun 1968, Bill Gates, Paul Allen, dan dua hackers lainnya disewa oleh Computer Center Corp. untuk menjadi tester sistem keamanan perusahaan tersebut. Sebagai balasan, mereka diberikan kebebasan untuk menggunakan komputer perusahaan. Menurut Bill saat itu lah mereka benar- benar dapat "memasuki" komputer. Dan disinilah mereka mulai mengembangkan kemampuan menuju pembentukan Microsoft, 7 tahun kemudian.

Selanjutnya kemampuan Bill Gates semakin terasah. Pembuatan program sistem pembayaran untuk Information Science Inc, merupakan bisnis pertamanya. Kemudian bersama Paul Ellen mendirikan perusahaan pertama mereka yang disebut Traf-O-Data. Mereka membuat sebuah komputer kecil yang mampu mengukur aliran lalu lintas. Pengalaman lainnya, ia bekerja sebagai debugger di perusahaan kontraktor pertahanan TRW, dan sebagai penanggungjawab komputerisasi jadwal sekolah.

Musim gugur 1973, Bill Gates berangkat menuju Harvard University dan terdaftar sebagai siswa fakultas hukum. Bill mampu dengan baik mengikuti kuliah, namun sama seperti ketika di SMA, perhatiannya segera beralih ke komputer. Selama di Harvard, hubungannya dengan Allen tetap dekat. Bill dikenal sebagai seorang jenius di Harvard. Bahkan salah seorang guru Bill mengatakan bahwa Bill adalah programmer yang luar biasa jenius, namun seorang manusia yang menyebalkan. Desember 1974, saat hendak mengunjungi Bill Gates, Paul Allen membaca artikel majalah Popular Electronics dengan judul "World's First Microcomputer Kit to Rival Commercial Models". Artikel ini memuat tentang komputer mikro pertama Altair 9090. Allen kemudian berdiskusi dengan Bill Gates. Mereka menyadari bahwa era "komputer rumah" akan segera hadir dan meledak, membuat keberadaan software untuk komputer-komputer tersebut sangat dibutuhkan. Dan ini merupakan kesempatan besar bagi mereka.

Kemudian dalam beberapa hari, Gates menghubungi perusahaan pembuat Altair, MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems). Dia mengatakan bahwa dia dan Allen, telah membuat BASIC yang dapat digunakan pada Altair. Tentu saja ini adalah bohong. Bahkan mereka sama sekali belum menulis satu baris kode pun. MITS, yang tidak mengetahui hal ini, sangat tertarik pada BASIC. Dalam waktu 8 minggu BASIC telah siap. Allen menuju MITS untuk mempresentasikan BASIC. Dan walaupun, ini adalah kali pertama bagi Allen dalam mengoperasikan Altair, ternyata BASIC dapat bekerja dengan sempurna. Setahun kemudian Bill Gates meninggalkan Harvard dan mendirikan Microsoft.

Saat ini Microsoft tumbuh menjadi salah satu pembuat dan pengembang software dan sistem operasi yang menguasai pangsa pasar software dunia. Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP adalah contoh sistem operasi produksi Microsoft yang sebagian besar digunakan oleh pengguna komputer di dunia.

Mengenal Buku Elektronik (E-book)

Adik-adik pernah mendengar e-book atau buku elektronik ? Kalau belum, berikut ini sedikit penjelasan tentang e-book. Kata "E-book" berasal dari bahasa Inggris, singkatan dari electronic book, dalam bahasa Indonesia artinya adalah buku elektronik. Buku elektronik bukanlah buku yang mempelajari tentang elektronik, melainkan berupa data-data atau informasi yang tampilannya dibuat seperti buku kemudian direkam secara elektronik agar dapat dijalankan di komputer.

Apa perbedaan e-book dengan buku biasa ?

Buku-buku yang kita pakai saat ini menggunakan kertas sebagai bahan bakunya sedangkan e-book ditampilkan dengan menggunakan monitor atau layar komputer. Selain itu, buku-buku yang saat ini kita gunakan merupakan warisan teknologi cetak Guttenberg. Buku seperti ini memiliki beberapa kekurangan, di antaranya jika semakin banyak halamannya, maka akan semakin tebal pula buku yang kita miliki dan kadang ukurannya pun menjadi lebih besar, sehingga tidak praktis untuk dibawa ke mana-mana. Selain itu, biaya mencetak buku pun biasanya tidak murah. Sedangkan pada e-book, data atau informasi yang ada bisa disimpan dalam disket atau alat penyimpan lainnya dan dapat dibuka dikomputer mana saja. Lebih praktis bukan?

Isi buku elektronik

Sebenarnya, isi buku elektronik sama saja dengan isi buku biasa. Ada cerita, pelajaran, berita, gambar dan sebagainya. Isi buku elektronik direkam secara elektronis sebagai data dan disimpan di dalam komputer. Penerbit buku akan mengiklankan buku yang baru terbit dengan cara mengiklankannya di internet. Jika kita tertarik, kita bisa langsung memesannya melalui internet dan membayarnya secara online. Biasanya bukti transfer harus dikirimkan atau di fax ke alamat penerbit. Setelah membayar, baru kita dapat mengambilnya (mendownload) dari internet. Nah, setelah proses download selesai, e-book tersebut akan tersimpan dalam komputer kita dan bisa kita baca kapan pun kita mau.

Kekurangan e-book

Segala sesuatu yang memiliki kelebihan pasti mempunyai kekurangan juga, walaupun hanya sedikit. Demikian juga dengan e-book. Membaca buku di komputer bisa membuat mata kita cepat lelah dan posisi duduk pun tidak bisa santai. Karena itu, lama-kelamaan orang memikirkan cara yang lebih praktis. Kemudian para ahli akhirnya membuat alat yang dinamakan PDA (Personal Data Assistant), dalam bahasa Indonesianya berarti Asisten Digital Pribadi atau lazim disebut applet.

PDA atau applet sebenarnya adalah komputer yang berukuran jauh lebih kecil dari komputer biasa dan kemampuannya pun terbatas. Gunanya memang hanya untuk membaca e-book. Ukuran applet mirip majalah dan bentuknya ramping, sehingga mudah untuk dibawa ke mana-mana. Applet dapat dihubungkan ke internet. Gunanya adalah untuk memudahkan mengambil (mendownload) e-book. Huruf-huruf/tulisan pada applet bisa diperbesar ataupun diperkecil.

Sayangnya, saat ini e-book belum banyak digunakan orang karena belum tersedianya alat baca (applet) yang benar-benar nyaman dan murah. Tetapi para ahli masih terus mengembangkan applet ini, sehingga nantinya diharapkan e-book dapat digunakan oleh anak-anak untuk membaca tanpa perlu repot membawa buku yang banyak dan tebal.

Sejarah Internet

Internet berawal dari diciptakannya teknologi jaringan komputer sekitar tahun 1960. Apa sebenarnya jaringan komputer itu ? Jaringan komputer adalah beberapa komputer terhubung satu sama lain dengan memakai kabel dalam satu lokasi, misalnya dalam satu kantor atau gedung. Jaringan komputer ini berfungsi agar pengguna komputer bisa bertukar informasi dan data dengan pengguna komputer lainnya.

Pada awal diciptakannya, jaringan komputer dimanfaatkan oleh angkatan bersenjata Amerika untuk mengembangkan senjata nuklir. Amerika khawatir jika negaranya diserang maka komunikasi menjadi lumpuh. Untuk itulah mereka mencoba komunikasi dan menukar informasi melalui jaringan komputer.

Setelah angkatan bersenjata Amerika, dunia pendidikan pun merasa sangat perlu mempelajari dan mengembangkan jaringan komputer. Salah satunya adalah Universitas of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Akhirnya tahun 1970 internet banyak digunakan di unversitas-universitas di Amerika dan berkembang pesat sampai saat ini. Agar para pengguna komputer dengan merek dan tipe berlainan dapat saling berhubungan, maka para ahli membuat sebuah protokol (semacam bahasa) yang sama untuk dipakai di internet. Namanya TCP (Transmission Control Protocol, bahasa Indonesianya Protokol Pengendali Transmisi) dan IP (Internet Protocol).

Internet saat ini

Tahun 1989, Timothy Berners-Lee, ahli komputer dari Inggris menciptakan World Wide Web yaitu semacam program yang memungkinkan suara, gambar, film, musik ditampilkan dalam internet. Karena penemuan inilah internet menjadi lebih menarik tampilannya dan sangat bervariasi. Dahulu internet hanya dapat digunakan oleh kalangan tertentu dan dengan komponen tertentu saja. Tetapi saat ini orang yang berada dirumah pun bisa terhubung ke internet dengan menggunakan modem dan jaringan telepon. Selain itu, Internet banyak digunakan oleh perusahaan, lembaga pendidikan, lembaga pemerintahan, lembaga militer di seluruh dunia untuk memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat.

Di samping manfaat-manfaat di atas, internet juga memiliki efek negatif dikarenakan terlalu bebasnya informasi yang ada di internet. Sehingga memungkinkan anak-anak melihat berbagai hal yang tidak pantas untuk dilihat ataupun dibaca.

Bila di rumah kita tidak mempunyai komputer yang terhubung dengan internet, kita bisa memanfaatkan warnet (warung internet) atau mungkin di laboratorium komputer sekolah yang sudah terhubung ke internet untuk mencari informasi. Sekarang ini semakin marak yang namanya aplikasi open source dan freeware. Perangkat lunak atau software gratis ini sudah banyak macamnya. Mulai dari aplikasi word processor, spreadsheet, internet browser, FTP client, e-mail, database dan berbagai macam software lainnya. Sebagai produk gratis program-program tersebut tidaklah mengecewakan, bahkan terkadang kemampuannya setara atau melebihi dari program sejenis yang sifatnya komersial (atau berbayar).

Artikel ini mengajak kamu untuk berkenalan dengan software-software yang gratis yang bisa di gunakan dalam berkomputer sehari-hari baik di rumah maupun di kantor orangtuamu. CALC ini juga dilengkapi dengan fasilitas chart (grafik) dalam format 2D atau 3D. Ini bisa digunakan untuk menggantikan fungsi MS Excel yang sudah Anda gunakan saat ini.

IMPRESS , suatu aplikasi yang digunakan untuk membuat presentasi multimedia seperti halnya pada MS PowerPoint. IMPRESS bisa melakukan berbagai macam efek spesial untuk dokumen presentasi Anda.

Web browser ini jauh lebih aman dibandingkan MS Internet Explorer dan memiliki fitur-fitur yang sangat diperlukan untuk surfing di internet dengan aman seperti pop-up blocker dan juga bisa mengimpor semua data favorite yang sebelumnya ada di MS Internet Explorer. Fitur yang juga menarik disini adalah kemampuan tabbed browser, dimana kita tidak perlu membuka window baru untuk melakukan browsing tetapi cukup hanya membuka suatu tab baru dengan cara menekan Ctrl+T. Mozilla Firefox ini juga sudah dilengkapi dengan download manager yang sederhana

FTP client

Untuk solusi FTP client ada beberapa program gratis yang penulis rekomendasikan. Pertama bernama SmartFTP, bisa di download melalui www.smartftp.com. Program ini sangat bagus baik dari sisi fitur maupun user interface-nya. Dengan tampilan yang sangat professional maka Anda mungkin tidak mengira bahwa SmartFTP adalah program yang gratis. Program FTP client lain yang penulis rekomendasikan adalah DeluxeFTP yang bisa di download melalui www.deluxeftp.com. DeluxeFTP juga menawarkan fitur yang standard dan juga user interface yang terlihat professional.

E-mail

Untuk solusi e-mail ada beberapa alternatif yang menarik. Di antaranya adalah Eudora. Eudora bersifat Adware jadi kamu bisa gunakan dengan gratis dan sebagai gantinya pada Eudora ada bagian program yang ditempati oleh iklan dalam bentuk gambar. Solusi lain untuk aplikasi e-mail client adalah dengan menggunakan Mozilla Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/). Program ini gratis dan merupakan salah satu produk juga dari The Mozilla Foundation yang juga memproduksi Mozilla Firefox (web browser yang sudah kita bicarakan sebelumnya).

Chat

Bagi Anda yang suka chatting maka ada banyak sekali pilihan program gratis yang bisa Anda gunakan. Saat ini yang paling populer misalnya Yahoo! Messenger dan MSN, Anda bisa download di http://im.yahoo.com/ dan http://messenger.msn.com/. Selain itu ada juga program chat lain yang lumayan populer dan gratis, namanya adalah Gaim. Anda bisa download melalui http://gaim.sourceforge.net/. Gaim ini unik karena dengan satu interface Anda bisa terhubung ke account Yahoo! Messenger, MSN, ICQ dan IRC Anda. Ini sangat cocok untuk menghemat memori pada komputer Anda dan lebih praktis digunakan jika Anda ingin memanfaatkan semua jalur chatting tadi.

Multimedia

Jika Anda ingin mendengarkan musik, mendengarkan video atau mengakses streaming media maka sudah ada solusinya yang gratis. Anda bisa menggunakan program yang bernama Winamp. Penulis yakin bahwa hampir di semua komputer yang mendukung multimedia pasti ada Winamp yang terinstall di dalamnya. Dengan Winamp Anda bisa mendengarkan musik MP3 kesayangan Anda. Anda juga bisa menonton video dengan Winamp. Bagi Anda pecinta siaran radio online dari internet juga bisa memanfaatkan Winamp ini untuk mendengarkan radio streaming. Menggambar & melukis

Untuk solusi menggambar atau melukis ada program gratis yang namanya GIMP. Anda bisa men-download-nya di http://www.gimp.org/windows/. GIMP ini layaknya seperti aplikasi Adobe Photoshop yang sebelumnya sudah Anda kenal. GIMP bisa melakukan manipulasi file-file gambar plus juga memberi efek bagi gambar-gambar tersebut. Banyak pengguna GIMP saat ini menggunakannya sebagai tool untuk photo editing dengan diberi efek-efek yang tidak kalah menarik dibandingkan Adobe Photoshop.

Bagian-bagian dari ROUTER CISCO

Pembahasan kali ini akan menguraikan bagian-bagian umum dan utama dari sebuah router. Router lain kemungkinan memiliki bagian-bagian tambahan yang berfungsi sebagai pelengkap aja (tergantung seri router yang digunakan). Pada simulator, nantinya kita dapat memilih seri router yang akan digunakan, yang dilengkapi dengan bagian-bagian utama. Perbedaan mencolok dari setiap router adalah bagian interfacenya. Masing-masing router menyediakan jumlah komponen interface yang berbeda-beda (jumlah serial ports, fast-ethernet port, console port, dll)

1. RAM
Fungsi utama RAM pada router adalah menyimpan konfigurasi yang sedang berjalan (running configuration) dan sistem operasi IOS yang aktif, menyimpan routing table, menangani cache ARP, menangani fast-swtiching cache, menyediakan memori sementara utk konfigurasi file, menangani paket buffer, mengelola antrian paket.
Sifat RAM adalah semua data yang disimpan akan hilang ketika kehilangan sumber daya atau pada saat akan direstart.

2. NVRAM
NVRAM berguna untuk menyimpan konfigurasi start-up (start-up configuration). Isinya akan tetap ada walaupun router kehilangan power.

3. FLASH Memory
Flash berguna untuk menyimpan IOS (Operating System Image). Memory ini bisa menyimpan berbagai versi software IOS. Merupakan jenis EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM), jadi walaupun router kehilangan power, isinya tetap ada.

4. ROM
ROM berguna untuk menyimpan sistem bootstrap yang berfungsi untuk mengatur proses dan menjalankan Power On Self Test (POST) dan IOS Image.

5. Interface

Interface merupakan komponen eksternal dari suatu router. Sebelum menkonfigurasi router, masing-masing fungsi komponen tersebut harus diketahui terlebih dahulu karena komponen yang akan dikoneksikan ke router menggunakan interface yang berbeda tergantung komponennya yang akan dihubungkan. Gambar di atas memperlihatkan interface standar yang dimiliki oleh sebuah router yang meliputi:

1. Serial Ports, terdiri dari Serial0 dan Serial1
2. Fast Ethernet Ports, pasti udah pada kenal semua
3. Console Port, port utk menghubungkan router dgn dunia luar, port ini akan terhubung ke serial port di PC kita dengan menggunakan kabel Roll Over
4. Auxiliary Port, hampir sama dengan Console Port, dan tidak semua port ini dimiliki oleh router
5. Power Switch, untuk power

Bagaimana kita dapat terhubung ke router? Kita dapat memilih alternatif dibawah ini, yaitu melalui:
1. Port Console
2. Port Aux
3. Telnet (Ethernet atau Serial Port)

Untuk Fast Ethernet, aku kira pasti nggak ada kesulitan, karena hampir semua udah mengenal. Yang perlu diperhatikan adalah koneksi serial. Koneksi ini mempunyai dua sisi, yaitu DTE dan DCE. DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) disebut juga koneksi male(jantan), sedangkan DCE (Data Circuit-terminating Equipment) disebut koneksi female (betina).

Sebenarnya, untuk router kita hanya akan berhubungan dengan DTE (si jantan..hehehe), karena si betinanya bakalan melekat ke CSU/DSU (bisa juga terkoneksi ke modem), tapi kita bisa menggunakan kedua-duanya pada 2 buah atau lebih router untuk menguji koneksitas kita. Jadi, router yang satu berperan sebagai DTE (si jantan), sedangkan router yang satunya lagi sebagai DCE (betina). Pada saat training, kita pernah menguji coba 4 buah router asli sekaligus, dan ternyata, walaupun masangnya ribet (hahaha), akhirnya semuanya bisa terkoneksi.

Nah, sambil belajar dasar-dasar CISCO, sekarang sudah saatnya mendownload software simulasi yang akan kita digunakan untuk melakukan konfigurasi pada router.
