Today we want to tell you that we have been working hard on how to rebuild things to resolve these issues…

First, for years, we fought to keep our prices steady.
In fact, since our very first Kickstarter — over a decade ago — we barely raised them.
We wanted to make sure that Raging Heroes minis stayed within reach because your favorite minis shouldn’t become a luxury.

But the world caught up with us.

Since COVID, nothing has been the same: everything doubled, sometimes tripled. 
You probably felt it too, watching your favorite hobby grow heavier on the wallet year after year.

We absorbed those costs as long as we could.
Until it simply became impossible.
That’s why prices in our resin shop recently rose somewhat sharply.

It wasn’t greed. It was survival, and honesty.

But the timing was no accident.
We refused to raise prices until we could offer something better.

Errr… Wait, what?

Yep! With this launch, we are testing it with you:
A new, faster, small-batch way to produce our minis.
One that lets us propose

• our best minis, 
• mostly unreleased designs, 
• in physical form, 
• at prices that feel more like the good old days

We didn’t release many physical products over the past few years, because we were looking for a better, cheaper way, but:

• Plastic factories were overbooked.
• Oversea manufacturing was becoming unreliable.
• Resin casting was less and less adapted to the need of a fast transforming market.
• 3D print merchant licences makes our industry the only one in which a creator gets absolutely no royalty on their creation, basically cutting us out of all the physical product revenue and killing our physical business.

So we tested, scrapped, and reimagined nearly every part of our process.
And finally, we designed and set up a better way.

Just as an example, think of cookies (yes, the sugary ones with calories).
It is faster and more efficient to bake a full batch at once rather than to bake each one on demand.

✦ It’s the first heartbeat of something we’ve been crafting in silence for years.

When we started to work on our Dark Elf army in 2013, our goal was ambitious. We aimed to create something of extreme refinement and elegance. Yet, we wanted to infuse it with a sense of extreme evil. I always focus strongly on contrast when working on characters. This tension between opposites creates an instantly captivating effect.

To achieve this, I gathered references from many different backgrounds, as I always do. A key element of the Raging Heroes design philosophy is to go beyond usual fantasy archetypes and tropes. We incorporate elements from diverse areas. These include pop culture, traditional paintings from ancient masters, high fashion design, haute couture, and architecture.

For the Dark Elves, I chose glamorous elements of Gothic fashion. This approach ensures that each character has a unique elegance. It transcends what is usually found in other miniature brands' productions. We delved deeply into each character's design, focusing on their clothing and overall look. We aimed to give them a feel as if they were coming out of a movie. My references included underground fashion, Japanese rock bands, and anime. I also drew from Scandinavian fairy tale illustrations from the 19th century.

The mix of these diverse elements had a specific goal. We wanted to make you instantly fall in love with these characters. At the same time, we wanted to evoke a feeling that you should not approach them. Creating this tension is crucial for a faction like the Dark Elves. This approach is also something I've used with other evil characters, like the Lust Elves.

Our Dark Elf range is extensive. It offers everything needed to build a rich army. There are also unique pieces, like the insane Altar of the Succubi. This piece was designed to feel like something from a fantasy Hollywood blockbuster. I believe no miniature brand has produced such a crazy war machine. It features a flock of harpies gathering around a giant pool of blood. They are ready to devour the poor slave that a dark elf priestess is sacrificing. Meanwhile, many slaves push this gigantic, doom-gathering contraption across the battlefields.

The Dark Elves have always been a favorite of mine. It's surprising how hard it is to find distinctive Dark Elf characters in the miniature market. With this in mind, we developed something unique, beautiful, and terrifying so that you can create a very special army that will definitely stand above the rest.

The Story So Far…

It was a gloomy night. The city slept. On the city’s main square, a lonely fly lazily buzzed about the head of a dying man, pilloried for his evil crimes. 

As he drew his final breath, the insect whispered: “Let me resurrect you and bless you with immense powers to lay waste upon those who took you down. Your soul shall be the payment.”

With a dying sigh, the man assented. Creeping into his ear, the fly laid a tiny egg.

As it flew away, the man started shaking uncontrollably.

When morning came, the man was nowhere to be seen, with his pillory ripped away.

And so the infection began. The disease spread, sickening bodies and minds.

Turned into a demonic abomination, the criminal man had become the Plague Messiah, armed with terrifying physical and mental powers.

Yet he was but the spark that ignited the fire of decay in the city. His simple presence in the city corrupted the spirit of the twisted, the powerful, and the malevolent men and women of Mortenburg. In just a few weeks, the face of the city began to change…

What really happened to the Countess? 

Will the presence of Saint Ambrosia, the patron saint of the city, be enough to repel the demonic forces? 

Can the City Militia, with its limited resources, be strong enough to appease the people and maintain order?

In the last few polls we made asking  which 3d printable miniatures you wanted next, Pirates have come up quite often. With summer coming, we thought it would be the perfect time to hop onto a sea adventure with Pirate themed 3d printer miniature files!

The first 3d printer files miniatures Pirates we did were in fact our very first Heroes Infinite release, more than two years ago!! In it, we featured a captain who had somehow lost his ship and was trying to rebuild a better fortune. 

In our new Pirate episode, the main character is a female pirate setting out to settle old grudges with two other captains who took advantage of her years ago. 

The only problem is that since that time, those two captains themselves got into a fight that cost them both their lives.  They were both so caught up into greed and bitterness that their dispute lived on and, even in death, they are still fighting their battle at the bottom of the sea. 

So in this new set of characters, we have both good and bad guys!

Since we’ve launched Heroes Infinite for wargame and dnd mini stl files, what you get with your subscription has grown vastly and so, it was possible for us this time to include not only a group of good guys but also their enemies. 

So here we’ve got a Pirate Queen with some of her crew but also two Captains with their nefarious Troops and, on top of that, additional creatures to help you spice up any adventure you might design. 

Queen, Captains, Creatures

The Pirate Queen comes with Hellance, her trusted acrobat, and a Tabaxian boarding troop. Her bodyguard is Braako the Bone Crusher, whose immense strength and fighting rage will be enough to face most enemies. However, should you trust her ship surgeon? This is really up to you but we are not sure we would... 

On the side of the bad guys we’ve got plenty of options. What exactly happened between the two Pirate Captains and the Pirate Queen? 

What we do know is that Sir Velguard the Greedy was a nobleman who turned to piracy because of pure gold lust. He and his crew were so obsessed with gold that in the end, they preferred to die and sink with the treasure instead of letting go and saving their lives. And so today, after their deaths, they roam at the bottom of the sea still chained to their treasures…

Captain Humgrain’s story is a completely different one. He took to the seas with his daughters and, over time, managed to raise a crew of the strongest pirates ever. But something terrible happened to him and his daughters. Some say that they encountered a powerful magical creature of the sea that laid a terrible curse on them and transformed them into half humans and half sea creatures condemned to live forever at the bottom of the sea. 

Could one of the magical  creatures who brought this curse upon them be the spirit of the drowned? Or was the curse laid by this ghostly figurehead that appears to sailors during heavy storms? There are a lot of mysteries to uncover in the sunken city that our two pirate crews now inhabit.

Characters and Creatures

Working on this release made us realize that coming up with characters who have a unique vibe is not that easy when it comes to pirates. While stories of Pirates fire up the imagination, it feels like a lot of the characters seem to always be the same. So we aimed to give you a little bit of the regular Pirate archetypes while also bringing you several unique looking characters and creatures that we think will bring a distinctive flavor to your games.

Talking about creatures and monsters, there were also a lot of requests for a second part of a Kingdom of the Depth release and here you’ve got plenty of new sea creatures that will perfectly complement that release. 

A Sunken World…

In terms of scenery, since we just made a boat for this month’s steampunk release, we thought we would go for something a little bit different and that is why we went for the Sunken environment and its boat wreckage.  This set of models,  scenery, and scattered terrain is extremely cool as you can see in the video. It allows you to build absolutely amazing underwater environments. There’s even Sir Velguard the Greedy’s pipe organ!

So we hope that you will be as excited as we are about this group of sea adventurers and that you’ll have a lot of fun playing with them. Playing a good pirate adventure is in my opinion the perfect plan for a summer game. As always, we would really love to know which are your favorite characters and what are your plans for them. A Story-driven Theme

As always, this is partly due to your suggestions: this Plague City release is a more story-driven release, rather than a release based around a single faction.

All sorts of characters face off to either take over or keep free the city of Mortenburg: the forces of corruption and decay have infiltrated the highest spheres of the city while the supporters of good/light are trying to repel these demonic forces.

A few months ago, when I asked you what you wanted for the Spring releases, one of your recurring asks was for something that was not mono-thematic and that would allow more of you to find something they like and could use in each release. 

I know that this particular theme of plague and contagion was not specifically talked about earlier, and it really came up unexpectedly.  

In fact, two days before starting work on this release, I actually recorded a rather long video going through your comments to help determine what would be the next themes for Spring and early Summer. But I never got to publish it because, after thinking about your many suggestions, this idea of a city defending itself against a demonic invasion just came out in a discussion with JR, our sculpt supervisor. We actually edited the video trailer accordingly and added a voiceover to immerse you more into that world.

And just so you know, we have also studied your other suggestions, and we are preparing to roll out a plan for the coming months using that feedback.

NEW: Storytelling Contest! 

We know that many of you like to write and tell stories. So with Plague City being definitely story-based, Mireille figured you’d be brimming with ideas for stories to tell, and thought it would be great to have a short story contest around that release!

So get ready to put pen to paper (well, fingers to keyboard, perhaps) to share with the community your stories and a chance to win cool prizes… We’ll share all the details in an upcoming post, and the contest will end at the end of May.

In the meantime, to get your imagination cracking, read on for a few important tidbits about Mortenburg, its denizens, and the fiends lurking inside its walls…

The Story So Far…

It was a gloomy night. The city slept. On the city’s main square, a lonely fly lazily buzzed about the head of a dying man, pilloried for his evil crimes. 

As he drew his final breath, the insect whispered: “Let me resurrect you and bless you with immense powers to lay waste upon those who took you down. Your soul shall be the payment.”

With a dying sigh, the man assented. Creeping into his ear, the fly laid a tiny egg.

As she flew away, the man started shaking, uncontrollably.

When the morning came, the man was nowhere to be seen, with his pillory ripped away.

And so the infection began, and the disease spread, sickening bodies and minds.

Turned into a demonic abomination, the criminal man had become the Plague Messiah, armed with terrifying physical and mental powers.

Yet he was but the spark that ignited the fire of corruption in the city. His simple presence in the city corrupted the spirit of the twisted, the powerful, and the malevolent men and women of Mortenburg. And in just a few weeks, the face of the city started to change…

What really happened to the Count and the Countess? 

How did the city’s Bishop turn into the Plague Pope?

Will the presence of Saint Ambrosia, the patron saint of the city, be enough to repel the demonic forces? 

Can the city militia, with its limited resources, be strong enough to appease the people and maintain order?

Are the Sisters of the city strong enough in their faith, or have they already been corrupted?

And who really is the strange and enigmatic Plague Doctor?

It will soon be your turn to tell us what really happened in Mortenburg…

Ambrosia already released as a resin model

We released the  Saint Ambrosia resin miniature in our Raging Heroes shop just before Easter because we felt she was absolutely perfect for that time. 

You’ll also notice that we also made a “good” version of the Mother of Flies, and we turned her into our  Saint Ueriel, Angel of Easter resin miniature. That’s because we really wanted to have a Special Edition miniature for that holiday. 

While the Angel of Easter is a Limited Edition resin miniature that is only going to be available one a year during Easter season, the Saint Ambrosia model was always intended to also be released as a 3D printable model and, actually, many of you ask for that. So she is in our Plague City Heroes Infinite release in all her 3D-printable glory :)

Female-Only Troops this time

Very often you ask us to go back to our Raging Heroes roots, namely asking about our female characters and more especially our Sisters.  

This is exactly what we did here: we have two new Sisters troops, the Plague Nuns and the Penitent Sisters, and a new Sister Heroine with Saint Ambrosia who, in my opinion, is one of the best characters we’ve made so far for this faction. 

And then, you’ll notice that this month, the Troops are exclusively female: we really wanted to make female demons of corruption because we think this is something rarely seen. And we also made the Militia exclusively female for the same reason.

Painting Contest

Finally, you might have missed this, but this April, we launched our very first  Heroes Infinite Painting Contest. There is still time to enter, as the contest closes at the end of April (this Saturday!!!).  

You can expect a Heroes infinite Painting contest in May as well on the Plague City release.
