OtherInbox is looking to hire an experienced Ruby On Rails Programmer to join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented individual who will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining sections of the product. The successful candidate should be a flexible, highly independent worker as well as an excellent team player, and able to work efficiently under tight deadlines. All RoR programmers get paid to attend the Lone Star Ruby Conference in Austin and the O'Reilly RailsConf in Portland. Responsibilities
• Design, build and maintain Ruby On Rails code for a consumer web service
• Deploy on Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, SQS
• Implementation of upgrades, patches, code releases, and database changes
• Produce high quality, well-documented code
• Be part of a team and create a culture that attracts the best of the best
• Use the product yourself and help make it better

Requirements
• BS or equivalent experience
• At least one year Ruby On Rails experience
• Ability to work in an Agile, Scrum, XP environment
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS and AJAX
• Good understanding of Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, POP, IMAP, MIME
• Good understanding of Web-based technology as it relates to the web-hosted model of software delivery
• Hands-on experience working with a MySQL or SQL Server database, SQL programming
• Excellent organization and communication skills

Programmer/Analyst

The position will be part of a team of developers that is working to automate in-house business processes and to extend the capabilities of our e-commerce offerings.

This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of software applications and interfaces between current and future systems. He/she will have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment with other programmers and non-technical clients and should have some experience with full life-cycle development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Seeking out and destroying bugs (fixing really - but destroying sounds so cool) in our current platform. Yes, it's the maintanence part of the job. And it's very important.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of applications.
- Design applications at the feature level.
- Maintain product quality using agile testing techniques.
- Contribute subject matter expertise as needed.
- Troubleshoot production issues.
- Work with clients, business analysts, technical staff, and project team members to design, develop, implement, and enhance applications.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

- 4+ years of software development experience.
- Experience in applying technology to meet client needs
- B.A. / B.S. in a technical field preferably computer science, or equivalent work experience

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

- Web development experience
- Ideal candidates will already have experience with Rubyon Rails and Perl.

Lead Programmer/Analyst

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team in Data and Content Management. This is a very interesting position related to back-end processes. We need to maintain our current systems and may want to build rplacements in Ruby and Ruby on Rails. ( It’s part of the fun around here – really. If we can do it in Ruby – then we will. )

So if you land this position, in the first 90 days you’ll be helping to maintain and develop our back-end system processes. Once the processes are defined, you’ll be very heavy into managing the data and developing the tools – so you’ll need to be very database oriented too. So you’ll be called on to develop reporting systems, and tools & applications to facilitate management of the content.
Since our data is stored in MSSQL, you’ll need hands on experience with it. But you’ll certainly need to know your way around MySQL, and hopefully have some exposure to PostgreSQL too (did I spell that right?).

This is mainly a Linux/Unix environment and knowing your way around shell scripts is a must. You don’t have to be ‘off the hook’ or ‘senior level’ to be successful in this role - but you will have to be pretty strong in OOP (object oriented programming – spelled out for those who’re reading along but shouldn’t be). And, the key skill requirements include – Ruby on Rails, Object Oriented Perl, and C++. Python would be helpful too. It would be very good if you’ve got a handle on database development skills and information aggregation.

If you’re passionate about technology and development – and you really enjoy working in RoR (Ruby on Rails – again for those of you reading along that shouldn’t be), this could be a great opportunity to stretch you career to the next level while working at a stable, well established, and growing company.
