こんなタイトルがある投稿を書くのがちょっと偉そうかもしれないけど、これはただいきなり降りてきたもので、まだ新鮮のうちに朝の３時半でも書こうと思った。

I’m probably getting ahead of myself with a title to a post like this, but it’s just something that hit me and I thought I’d write about it at 3:30am in the morning while the idea is still buzzing in my head.

私たちは色んな人と出会う。たまにその人と付き合う、たまにその人と結婚する。あるカップルはずっと一緒に居て、あるカップルはそうでもない。そして何かの問題があったとき、他人のことでも自分の事でも、良く思うのが「二人は本当にお互いに愛し合ったのだろう」のと、「どれぐらい愛していたんだろう」。

これが俺の深夜のひらめき。

本当に人を愛する意味はまず、時間を掛けてエネルギーを使って、相手にとって本当に大切な事はいったい何なのかを理解すること。そしてその人がその大切なことから離れていくときに、絶対にそれを許さないこと。

We meet with people, hang out with them, sometimes date them, sometimes marry them. Some couples last long, and some not. And when things “go wrong,” either to people who know or ourselves, we often wonder “do they/we really love each other?” And “how much?”

Well here’s my middle-of-the-night insight.

Truly loving someone means first: taking the time and effort to understand what it is that’s truly important to them. And second: taking absolutely no crap from them when they start to do things that bring them away from what’s important.

例えば、そして大きいたとえで、幼なじみの夢が世界の＃１シェフになって、自分のテレビ番組を持つことだとしよう。彼女はあれからは結婚し、主婦になり、有名人が主催する料理の番組を見ながらため息をする。

「夢はどうなった？」とあなたが聞く。

「ならないよ。現実的じゃなかった。でも別にいいです。家族の為に料理を出来るだけで幸せです。」と彼女が答える。

しかしそれが明らかに嘘だとあなたがわかる。そして本当に彼女を愛するという意味は、「しかし、どれだけ現実的ではなくてもやってみれば？世界一のシェフになるために今なら出来ることある？」ということだと思う。

それか、もし彼女が「なりたいけど出来ない！時間が足りないから出来ない。お金が無いから出来ない。エネルギーが無いから出来ない。誰かがなんとかかんとかから出来ない！」といったら、愛する意味は彼女に「大変なのが分かる。しかしあなたなら出来ることがあるはずだ。あなたと話したいのがあなた出来ないことではなく、あなた出来ること。」

For example, and let’s start big, you’ve been with your friend since you were kids, and you know it’s her dream to become the #1 chef in the world with her own TV show. Since then, she’s gotten married, has become a housewife, and sighs longingly while watching celebrity cooking shows.

You ask: “what about that dream you had?”

And she says: “it won’t ever happen, it’s not realistic. It’s okay though, I’m happy being able to cook for my family every day.”

Yeah right. You know she’s not happy with the way things are. And I think that truly loving her means saying: “well actually, as unrealistic as you may think it is, why not give it a shot? What can you do to get one step closer to being that #1 chef?”

Or if she complains and says to you: “I want to but I can’t! I can’t because I don’t have the time. I can’t because so and so won’t let me. I can’t because I don’t have the money. I can’t because I don’t have the energy!

Then expressing your love means saying: “I understand things are tough. But you’re better than that. So stop complaining and giving me all this negative energy. What I want to talk about is what you CAN do, not what you can’t.

もしかして「タフ・ラブ」（日本語は・・・愛のむち？）という言葉がこれから来たんだろう。愛する相手が大切なことを手に入れるしか許さないこと。

勿論、友達がある女性が好きだけど「いや、無理。絶対僕のような人間を見てくれない」というときに「せめて何かをやってみないと絶対あなたを許さない」と答えることも同じ、相手を愛することです。それと友達を出来るだけ手伝えること。

I think this is where the original concept of “tough love” came from. It means not taking crap from the people you love and doing whatever it takes to get them back on track with their life and what’s important to them.

And of course it’s the same thing when your guy friend says he has a crush on a girl but tells you that “it’s hopeless, she’ll never look at a guy like me.” It’s about telling him that you’ll never forgive him if he doesn’t at least give it a shot. And it’s also about doing what you can to help him out.

それが俺の本当の愛の定義です。あなたはどれぐらいパートナーを愛している？どのぐらいの文句や言い訳を許している？どれだけ、相手が一番ベストの自分であることしか認めていない？それがあなたの愛のテストです。

So that’s my definition of true love. How much do you love your partner? How much crap are you taking from him/her? How willing are you to settle for nothing else but the best that someone else can be? That’s your test of love.

ウェルスダイナミクスから諺があって、「成功には、何に断るのがポイントです」。ある程度のウェルスフィットネスがあれば、富を作るチャンスがどんどん来るけど、全てにイェスを言ったら、結局なにも完成できなくなる。簡単なコンセプトだけど、本当に理解して、そのように行動するまでには本当に集中が必要。現在、やっとその集中で来たらから、これからの旅を選んでいる。

From Wealth Dynamics comes a saying that “success is about what you say no to.” It’s not an easy concept to really understand to the point that you act on it, but right now I’m where it needs to happen. I want to say yes and get involved with everything interesting that comes along, but unfortunately I’m not yet adept enough to manage everything with the time I have. So it’s time to say no to some things, and just focus on what I really love.

It’s time to choose the journey I take from here.

Wow. So my next post is about this one store called Kapok, but I don’t have the photos I need for the post. Not to mention I didn’t have a camera nor a phone, so there was no way I could take them on my own in the first place.

But! I sent an email to the shopkeeper Bap there, and he sent me photos of the store! And not only that! Those weren’t recent photos so he said he’d bring his camera to work tomorrow and take new photos for me! Dang! This guy, he’s just plain, hands down, awesome.

I’ll post the new entry tomorrow as soon as I get the photos!

今香港に居て、ラッキーなことで友達の個人オフィスで泊まることができた。９平米ぐらいのスペースで、ここにあるものは椅子、テーブル、と本棚１つ。あまり気移りがなくて、集中できる天国です。起きてるときに仕事をして、好きなときに寝たり起きたりする。おかげで仕事がいっぱい出来た。しかしその仕事って、どんな価値があるんだろう。

I’m in Hong Kong right now, and fortunately I’ve been able to stay at my friend’s personal office. It’s got maybe about 9 square meters of space, and the only things here are a desk, two chairs, and a bookshelf. It’s like a heaven for concentration. I sleep when I want, wake up when I want, and when I’m up I’m just working away and getting tons of work done.

The thing is, though, I’m wondering what the value is of the work that I’ve been getting done.

昨日、ずっ～と数時間を使って、ツイートボタンをワードプレスでインストールするガイドを作った。当時、すごくいいことだと感じたけど、振り替えて見ると、ファッションやウェルスダイナミクスのセミナーを仕事にして生きて行きたい自分にとって、昨日の仕事にはあまり価値がない。

数日前、友達をスカイプでウェルスフィットネスのセミナーをやって、彼も同じことをやっていた。自分にとって一番大事な目標を見せずに、日ごろの行動を決めていた。

一般の人はそのように、何日間、何週間、何ヶ月間、何年間ずっとやり続けて、本当に欲しい人生に一歩にも近づかないよね。

珠美、いや、たくさんの人はもしこれを読んだら「当たり前でしょう！」と笑って思うけど、なるほどね、だからプランニングが大事なんだ！という気づきが今、やっと、出来た！でもなぁ～、自分の中から気づきがないと、分かんないよなぁ～！

今までに居た香港の一週間半にはそれだけが出来たとしても、価値がある。

Yesterday, I spent quite a few many hours working on the guide to installing the new tweet button on WordPress. And at the time, it seemed like a fantastic and wonderful thing to do, but looking back, to the me who wants to making a living of of fashion and teaching people how to be successful in life, there really isn’t that much value in yesterday’s work.

Just the other day, I was sharing the contents of the seminars I do in Japan to a friend, and he was doing the same thing I was. He was doing things from day to day without keeping the big important goals in life in focus.

I guess that’s what the average person does. We spend days, weeks, months, and years doing that, and we don’t take a single step towards the life that we really want to create fr ourselves.

My boss Tamami, and probably a ton of other people out there are going to read this and laugh saying “that’s common sense!”, but finally, I see! So that’s why planning is important!

Man though, unless the realization comes from inside of you, it’s really just something that you can’t understand from just being taught the concept.

Maybe I’m a little late realizing this at 26 years of age (or am I?), but even if that was the only think I got from the past week and a half in Hong Kong, I think it was worth it.

昨日、ツイッターからのオフィシャルツイートボタンがリリースされて、すぐに使おうと思った。Ｔｗｅｅｔｍｅｍｅより機能があって、特にツイートした後でフォローお勧めの画面がワンダフル☆

やっとキレイにボタンをインストールできたが、思ったとおり、スムーズに進まなかった。それは、ウェブデザイナーの人生ですｗ

だからココで得たノウハウをシェアしよう思った！このガイドは一応ワードプレス向けのガイドだけど、普通のウェブサイトでも参考になると思う。

With the release of the official tweet button from twitter yesterday, I of course had to integrate it into my blog. Official being part of it, new being another, and the extra “recommend you to follow” function being the biggest part!

I’ve got it all ironed out at this point, as you can see, but just as I guessed the process didn’t go smoothly. Such is the life of those in web design =D

Anyhow, I thought I’d share the process I went through in case it helps others!

This guide is primarily focused on how to get it all to work in WordPress, but even for websites it can help as a reference.

１．Ｊａｖａｓｃｒｉｐｔ（ジャバスクリプト）を使わないこと

1. To not use Javascript

日本では分からないけど、セキュリティーのため、俺は自動的にＪａｖａｓｃｒｉｐｔを向こうにするプログラムＮｏＳｃｒｉｐｔ（ファイアフォックスのアッドオン）を使っている。だからＪａｖａｓｃｒｉｐｔを使えば、有効しないとツイートボタンが出なくなる。

ラッキーなことで、Ｊａｖａｓｃｒｉｐｔのほかにｉｆｒａｍｅを使うオプションもあった。トリッキーなところは、ツイートするボタンの公式サイトでは、Ｊａｖａｓｃｒｉｐｔのコードしか作ってくれない。ｉｆｒａｍｅなら自分でコードを作らないと残念。そのコードを、次のセクションにシェアする。

Not sure about all you readers, but I use the NoScript addon for Firefox while browsing, so by default Javascript is disabled whenever I browse a new site. Which would mean that by default, the tweet button wouldn’t show up until I allowed Javascript on the site, so I wanted to avoid it if possible.

Luckily, aside from Javascript, you can implement it with an iframe, so that’s what I used. The tricky part is just that the official tweet button website only generates Javascript code for you, so you need to figure out how to code the iframe yourself. I’ll be sharing the code for that in the next section.

ツイッターのデベロッパーサイトのツイートボタンページでｉｆｒａｍｅのコードを見つけたが、カスタマイズされた例がない。でも、まあ、重要なのはつかるコードだよね。下にある。

The code for the iframe version of the button can be found on the twitter developer site, but it doesn’t have an example on how to customize it. But, well, what’s important is just the code that works, right? Here it is:

上のコードをテーマのファイルのｉｎｄｅｘ．ｐｈｐとｓｉｎｇｌｅ．ｐｈｐにそのまま貼り付けたら、すぐ使える。（管理画面⇒外観⇒テーマ編集⇒右にあるメニュー）

テーマのデザインによるけど、普段、コードの<?php the_title(); ?>と<?php the_content(); ?>の間に使えばベストだと思う。分からなかったらしたのイメージを見てください！

If you go ahead and paste the above code into your theme’s index.php and single.php files, you can use it right away! (Admin panel -> Appearance -> Editor -> Menu on the right)

It will depend on the design of your blog’s theme, but normal, if you paste the script somewhere between <?php the_title(); ?> and <?php the_content(); ?>, it will show up where you want it to be. If you don’t really understand, then have a look at the image below and it should help!

Instead of RaimanAu, you’re going to want to put your own twitter username. This function automatically adds the @username to the tweet that gets generated.

<?php the_title(); ?>はワードプレスが使うコードで、ツイートに、投稿のタイトルを自動的に取る。そのまま変えないほうがいい。

<?php the_title(); ?> is code used by WordPress to get the title of your post and puts it in the tweet. Leave this as it is.

ツイートした後に、フォローお勧めの画面のアカウントはここで設定する。今は@designmejpを勧めている。１つ以上のアカウントを勧めたかったら、user1:user2の形に入れればＯＫ！

After tweeting using the tweet button, this code brings up a recommended account to follow! Right now it’s following @designmejp. If you want to add more recommendations, then use the format user1:user2.

ツイートボタンの言語を選べるコードです。今の所で選べられる言語は日本語（ｊａ）、英語（ｅｎ）、とスペイン語（ｅｓ）です。

This sets the language of the tweet button. Right now, the available languages are English (en), Japanese (ja), and Spanish (es).

ボタンのタイプを決める。ここで入れられるのはnoneとhorizontalとverticalです。下のイメージに、違いを見せる。

This determines the type of button that you have. You have three options: none, horizontal, and vertical. The corresponding button is shown in the image in below.

ボタンの幅と高さを決める。言語とタイプによる、これを変える必要がある。サイズはしたのイメージにある。

This sets the size of the button, which actually changes depending on the language and the count type. The dimensions are shown in the image below.

３．フェイスブックのボタンとキレイに並ぶ

3. To line it up nicely with the facebook button

フェイスブックの「いいね！」ボタンと同じ行に並べたかったら、ちょっと工夫しないと出来ない場合が多い。

まずはフェイスブックのボタンの幅を３００pxなどに編集する必要がある。じゃないと、ボタンは行の見えないところまで伸びて、ツイートボタンを置きたい場所がなくなってしまう。インストールによって、フェイスブックボタンのプラグインの設定、またはコードに直接変えられる。フェイスブックボタンの幅は普通４５０ｐｘだと思う。

それが出来たら、次のステップはツイートボタンを右端に付ける。ｉｆｒａｍｅのコードにちょっと加えれば出来る。

をコードの前に付けて、

上にあるツイートボタンのコードのイメージには、出来上がった例がある。このコードは、ｉｆｒａｍｅのコードを全部見えないボックスに置いて、ボックスを右寄せにして、上に２ｐｘの余白を付ける。

上の余白の理由は、小さいツイートボタンとフェイスブックのサイズは若干違うから、付けたらキレイに見えることです。そして大きいボタンの場合に、２ｐｘを０ｐｘにすればいい！

If you’re looking to line up the tweet button on same row as a facebook like button, like on my site on the main page, you actually have to do a little adjusting to get it to work properly.

The first step is to change the width of the facebook button to something like 300px. By default, the width is 450px, which makes the button invisibly extend way to the right and can take up all the space on the line, which leaves no space for the tweet button! Depending on how you installed the facebook button, you can change the width in the plugin settings or directly in the code.

Once you’ve done that, all that needs to be done is to add a little bit more code to the iframe code! What you want to do is add the following code:

before the iframe code, and then the code below:

after the iframe code.

What this does is put the iframe into an invisible box, align it to the right side, and add a 2px margin to the top of it.

Why the margin? Because the facebook button is slightly larger than the small tweet button, and if both of them are aligned to the top of the post, the difference is a little jarring. If you move the button down the 2px, though, it looks a lot cleaner!

And in the case where you’re using the larger tweet button, just change the 2px to 0px and you’re all set!

最近、仕事でソーシャルメディアを使うことが多くなった。カスタムのワードプレスのテーマを作るときに、ツイッターとフェイスブックに連携するのが基本。もちろん、他に連携できるソーシャルネットワーキングサービス（ＳＮＳ)はあるけど、使っても意味があまりない。ソーシャルネットワーキングの世界はまだ、あまり日本に知られていないから。

これからのものだと思うけどね。最近フェイスブックの使い方についてのような本やセミナーが出てきて、日本人がやっと、少しずつ波を乗り始めた。しかし現在日本でよく知られているＳＮＳはまだ少ない。ミクシィ、アメブロ、ツイッターと、一応フェイスブックぐらい。

でも、日本語で使えるサービスはそれぐらいだからしょうがないよね。別にＳＮＳを使っているユーザーが少ないわけじゃないでしょ？ただ使っているサービスが限られているということだ！

I’ve been recently working with social media more due to the nature of my work. I create custom WordPress themes for clients, and when I do it’s standard fare to add other social networking elements into the mix, like sharing buttons for facebook and twitter. And that’s about it. Facebook and twitter.

It doesn’t really go any father than that because Japan is rather unaware of most of the social networking world.

I think it’ll eventually be here, though. There’s recently been how-to-use facebook books and seminars, and there are still twitter ones going on, so I think it’s just a matter of time. But the thing is, other than mixi (a site like facebook), ameba (a blogging site), twitter, and tentatively facebook, Japanese people don’t really know of anything else.

Those are basically the only services that are available in Japanese, though, so what can you do? Japan’s not really proficient in English yet. And besides, not knowing a lot of different networks doesn’t mean the number of users is any less, right?!

There have been plenty of amazing songs coming out in the music industry of recent, but I feel that very few of them are by artists who can REALLY sing. Singers who have a voice that pierce the air and moves your heart. Mami is one of those singers.

The UC Berkeley Music Department graduate can bust out songs by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, not to mention opera, at a level that holds its own against the original.

This month on the 29th, she’ll be performing live for 40 minutes in Shibuya. The details are below!

多分、似顔の下にあるDesignMeというテキストに気づいたんだろう。そこに置いとく必要がないけど、俺はその会社にすごく誇りを持っている。自分の会社じゃないくせに誇りを持つというのはちょっと偉そうかもしれないけど、友達の会社で、作ること自体が本当にすごいと思っている。

You probably noticed the text under my personal logo saying “designed by DesignMe.” I actually didn’t have to put it there, but the company is actually something that I’m really proud of. I might be getting ahead of myself in taking credit for a company I didn’t make, but it’s my friend’s company, and I think it’s amazing that he was able to create it.

デザインミーは、ＣＩ（コーポレートアイデンティティ）を作る会社だけど、サービスの一つはパーソナルブランドのための顔のロゴの作成です。ロゴを使えば、たくさんの人と会うときに、もっと強い印象を作ることが出来る。起業家でも、サラリーマンでも、大事なツールだと思う。

よくある経験だと思うけど、もらった名刺のコレクションを見れば、誰かが誰で、さっぱり分からなくなっちゃう。

DesignMe is a company that specializes in creating Corporate Identities, in other words does branding for businesses. But one of their products is the face logo, which is a form of personal branding. And when used in business communication, I think it becomes a powerful tool in setting a stronger, lasting impression with the people you meet.

The image below is probably something familiar if you’ve gone to big events and did your share of networking. How many of the owners of the business cards do you remember?

なんとなくレディ・ガガの音楽が頭に流れ初めて、「最近の人気がある音楽のＰＶを見てないなぁ」と思って、早速ユーチューブでいろいろを見た。レディ・ガガ、ケイティ・ペリー、ジャスティン・ビーバー。見たら落ち着けない気持ちがわいてきた。

As I was working on a couple of things today, for some reason melodies from Lady Gaga’s music just happened to spring in my head. Thinking that I hadn’t actually seen a lot of the music videos for a lot of popular songs of recent, I jumped over to YouTube to have a look. I watched videos from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber among others.  And as I did, I felt a surge of energy that I couldn’t do anything with.

もしかしてそれはファッションが好きな理由。派手は服があれば、普通の道でも舞台になる。

早くもっとお金を稼いで、ファッションを楽しむ余裕をまた味わいたい！

I wonder what it is. I suppose it might have to do something with my Wealth Dyanmics Star Profile, but it really comes down to wanting to be there on the stage. But not just ordinarily giving a speech or a seminar. I want to get up there, sing and dance with my soul, grasp the atmosphere and control it.

I want to put on the crazy stage makeup, the outstanding outfit, sing my heart out under the spotlight in the darkness and stand to the the applause. 24/7/365.

Maybe that’s one the of reasons I love fashion. Just with an amazing outfit, even ordinary streets turn into a stage.

Time to get my act together, make some more income, and give myself the freedom to play with fashion the way I want to!
