Westworld’s third season premiered in March of 2020 on HBO, followed by a massive ad campaign. Concept Arts hired Rainfall to brainstorm several motion graphic spots, including unique animations for the show’s title. Below you can see some style frames produced for the job.

Disintegration is a first-person shooter from V1 Interactive, released on Sony Playstation in 2020, which features a variety of colorful, unique crews and gravcycles for you to choose from. Rainfall was hired by Bay Area studio Layer Media to design and animation several motion graphic components for the release videos, including branding for each crew, and a fully 3D recreation of a key game environment.

G4TV was a beloved cable network for fans of gaming, movies, comics, and general geekdom for over a decade. It was also a big part of Rainfall’s early years, and many collaborations, including show graphic packages and video specials. In the summer of 2020, the network announced its epic return, and hired Rainfall to produce a 60-second teaser announcement, which premiered online during Comic-Con’s livestream event.

The warehouse environment was created in Cinema 4D, and stuffed with dozens of easter eggs that G4 fans would recognize. The Pong game was re-created using Unity and was fully playable, designed to match an ARG experience that Comcast Spectacor launched in tandem.

The teaser was directed by Sam Balcomb and Mike Shaw, with sound design by Rainfall’s Jeff Dodson.

Freeform’s dramatic series Motherland premieres with Fort Salem, following three young women who are able to use magic in alt-present America. In this world, according to Deadline, “the traditional roles of gender and power are flipped, with the more dominant women on the front lines fighting looming terrorist threats that are familiar to our world — but with supernatural tactics and weapons.”

Rainfall worked with Concept Arts to produce a series of video vignettes, each showing a different part of this alternative America. Custom plates were shot on location in Washington DC.

Science Channel rings in 2020 with The Explosion Show, hosted by Tory Belleci (Mythbusters) and stuntman Streetbike Tommy Passemante, going behind the scenes and showing viewers “the many ways explosions exist in our everyday.” The duo not only stage their own massive detonations, but work with bomb squad experts to show how to diffuse deadly situations.

Rainfall has been designing the numerous show graphics for Youtube & VSauce’s series Mind Field for several seasons, and recently worked on their Halloween special: The Scariest Thing. The in-show animations were designed to mimic the 16mm “educational” films from the 1960s, complete with jumpy motion, scratches, and hair in the projector.

Logo design has always been a significant part of Rainfall’s business over the last ten years. Back in 2010, Rainfall worked with Philips on a new initiative for the next decade of their product line. In the years since, design work has been done for Microsoft, Netflix, HBO, and on media including Aquaman and Lemony Snicket.

Recently, Rainfall has worked on a number of sci-fi logo design projects, like the film Ad Astra with Brad Pitt. Below is a recent collection of design explorations in the realm of science fiction.

Sony’s new Charlie’s Angels reboot, written and directed by Elizabeth Banks, is shaking up its iconography with a new logo backed by a deco-style triangle design. Rainfall provided a series of graphic explorations for the film that could be implemented in 2D and 3D animation.

Comedian Julio Torres comes to HBO with a new special, My Favorite Shapes, where he takes the audience on a surreal exploration of his life. Rainfall provided motion graphic services for the advertising campaign.
