Back at camp, Cochran is already thinking of the game. He has to get close to Eddie because he will most likely win immunity next. They are talking about voting off Dawn.

They get tree mail the next day. It talks about a reward, Dawn immediately starts crying. This is getting very old.

I’ll be so relieved to get my brain back.
Dawn

For the reward challenge, they will steady a balancing board while simultaneously building a house of cards. The first person to build their house high enough wins reward, which is an advantage for the final immunity challenge.

The challenge is on. The line is quite high. Cochran and Sherri are going pretty fast. Cochran’s tower collapses. Dawn is coming up. Sherri’s collapses. Dawn is in the lead, followed by Eddie. Cochran’s small tower falls down. Dawn is very close but her stack collapses. Eddie is in the lead. Eddie’s collapses. Everyone has started over. Sherri is in the lead. Cochran drops his stack again. Dawn and Eddie are trying to catch up on Sherri. Sherri loses half her stack. Dawn goes down again. Eddie is in the lead with Cochran. Eddie is close but half his stack collapses. It;s between Cochran and Sherri. Sherri collapses. Cochran is one card away. He wins. Dawn is right there to congratulate him. That took a few tries but it was good. It’s his third challenge win.

My great challenge streak, which was temporarily on hold, has come back roaring again.

I am the challenge beast.

Cochran is happy that both Dawn and Eddie didn’t get it. Sherri tells Eddie that she’d rather be sitting next to Eddie and Cochran than Dawn. She thinks that Dawn has played the sympathy card much too often with her adopted children, etc.

Dawn and Cochran are talking.

Every day, I get to see a new freakout from Dawn. Unfortunately today, she was leaning toward the catatonic breakdown.

Dawn feels like she automatically deserves a fast-pass to the finals.
Cochran

The next day, they receive tree mail. They are waiting for some men on a boat. It’s the BS part of the show which I usually skip.

After that, they go to the final immunity challenge. They will race up a three story tower, untie a bag of puzzle pieces, launch themselves down a slide, and head back up to retrieve the other bags. They will use the pieces to build a fire puzzle. Cochran opens the note. He will not have to untie the puzzle bags. He can head back down immediately. That’s a good advantage.

Cochran is quite fast. Everyone else is working on the knots. He’s going for his second bag when the others are still untying their first. Cochran is coming down with his third bag and starts working on his puzzle. Eddie and Dawn are going back up for their third bag. Dawn looks exhausted. The others are all down. Sherri is still up there. Cochran hasn’t placed any pieces yet. His lead has evaporated. Dawn has her first piece on. Dawn has her second piece and her third. Sherri has her first piece. Dawn has four. Sherri has two. Cochran has his first. Cochran has 2, Sherri 3, and Dawn has 5. Eddie has none. Cochran has 5. Now he’s got 6. Now, he’s got 8. Sherri has 6. Dawn with 7. Eddie gets his first and another. Cochran is pulling ahead again. He’s got 5 pieces left. Dawn and Sherri are falling out of it. Cochran has 3 pieces left. Cochran wins immunity! This is Cochran’s third individual immunity win. Dawn is crying/bawling again. WTF. She needs some meds.

Cochran hasn’t yet decided who is coming with him to the finals. He has already decided that Sherri is coming. He’s wondering between Dawn and Eddie.

It’s time for tribal. Jeff talks about Erik’s departure. Then, he talks about Cochran winning two challenges in a row. Dawn says that Eddie is lovable. She’s maligned everyone on the jury. Cochran doesn’t give any indications during tribal which way he’s going to vote. Eddie tells Cochran that he’s got the best chance to winning with him and Sherri.

Eddie is evicted by a 3-1 vote. Eddie is out. Hands down, Cochran is winning Survivor. There’s no competition actually. Dawn might get a few votes, but Cochran made all of the winning moves.

Back at camp, they get their Survivor breakfast the next day. They head out to the final tribal council later that night.

Dawn and Sherri’s opening statements aren’t really that interesting. Sherri reveals that she’s a business owner with 75 employees. Cochran’s is a bit more interesting.

Sherri, I don’t have a question for your.

If you fight for it, then I will vote for you

Cochran to Malcolm

Eddie asks Sherri if she got carried to the final 3. She doesn’t think so. Eddie asks Dawn about playing a cold-hearted game, but she was always having daily mental breakdowns. Phillip rescinds Sherri’s membership of the Stealth R Us alliance. He tells Dawn that they had to deal with her breakdowns for more than a month. She made camp life disruptive. He tells Cochran that he’s a class act and that he’s a strategic player, but he never felt any malice from him.

Erik asks Dawn if she’s aware of the damage she caused by getting rid of Brenda.

Erik to Sherri

Sherri shushes Erik and tells him to sit down. She doesn’t need his vote. Dawn doesn’t really let Cochran answer.

If I hadn’t become your therapist, you wouldn’t still be in this game.
Cochran

Reynolds thinks that Dawn is disingenuous. He asks her what she thinks about him. Dawn doesn’t really answer. She says that he’s chauvinistic, vulgar, and he’s got a good sense of humor. Cochran tells Andrea that he played the game like a chameleon. He had an adaptability and the timing of his adaptability that got him this far. Andrea doesn’t say much else. Brenda asks Cochran about why she should vote for him. Cochran says that he’s developed this sociopathic ability to separate emotion from the game. Brenda’s voice is cracking when she talks to Dawn. She mentions the loss of the retainer. She asks Dawn if she would have quit the game if she wouldn’t have gotten her teeth back. She tells Dawn to take out her teeth and show it to everyone. Dawn doesn’t want to. Dawn finally takes them out.

I wanted you to feel what I felt that day. A little bit of heartbreak.

There is a promo for next season. It’s called Survivor: Blood Vs Water. Ok, so family members are playing against strangers.

I’ve actually started feeling guilty on the nights that I don’t work out, so I might do some weight training at home. I go out on walks twice daily, and they are quite brisk so I am getting some cardio.

I went out for 25.9 km this week. That distance included two runs. One was over 6km and the other just about 5km. The rest of the distance included walks that broke a sweat at a pace of about 9 minutes per km.

I replaced my 5-year-old Asics Gel Lytes with some 2012 Nike Air Max in an anthracite/silver/volt colorway. The change was incredible. My feet are no longer hurting and running feels a lot better on my knees. I should have changed a long time ago. I suspected that they were hurting my feet, but it wasn’t until I went for a run in my new kicks that I noticed the difference.

5.03 km in 34:49 with an average pace of 6:56 min/km
6.16 km in 47:11 with an average pace of 7:40 min/km

At the same time, Dawn is talking to Brenda. They think that they will vote for Cochran if Eddie wins immunity. They have Erik with them and talk about going to the final three. They decide on Cochran. Erik has played Survivor for 70 days. He says that today was one of the hardest days.

So basically, this means that Erik has been to prison. He wants to climb a coconut tree to get the coconuts, who have been secretly laughing at him all this time. He’s starving. The women are waiting for him. He didn’t manage to get any coconuts. It’s a bit too high.

In tree mail, they get a Sprint smartphone. Dawn starts bawling. They are playing for video letters from home.

I don’t know why God gave me the opportunity to be your father, but I’ll take it.
Eddie’s dad

They go to the reward challenge. The loved ones arrive and everyone cries. Then everyone is ecstatic. They will be competing with their loved ones. They will be swirling around unscrewing rails. Once they have finished, they will be tossing bolos at some other rails. The winning pair will go back to camp with their loved one onto a floating backyard BBQ. Erik and his brother are the favorites in my book. They are the fittest pair. Brenda and her dad are close behind. Cochran and his mom are last. Brenda and her dad are in the lead. Erik and his bro are close behind. They are working on their 3rd rail. They are matched well. Erik and his brother start tossing bolos. Erik/Richard get one. Brenda gets one. Sherri/Jared get one. Dave/Dawn have one. Ed/Eddie have one. Jared has a second. Brenda has another. Dave has a second. Raymond tosses it and scores. Brenda/Raymond win.

Brenda chooses Dawn to join them. Jeff hands Brenda another smartphone. On it, she sees a message. The second loved ones are here too. Sherri is on her knees. Brenda can choose one other survivor and their loved one, or she can give up her loved one and Dawn’s loved one. Then, the other four survivors will get both of their loved ones for the BBQ. Brenda gives it to the rest of the survivors. That’s amazing. Dawn is bawling again.

My dad’s a neurologist, a bookish kind of guy. He’s wearing sunglasses all of a sudden, and working the grill like an old pro. I think he was putting up kind of an act to look like a cool dude when he’s anything but. I mean, he’s basically me in 40 years.
Cochran

Erik gives Brenda and Dawn the love sign from the pontoon.

It makes me want to spit.
Dawn

Dawn is breaking down and bawling. This is getting old.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will be standing on a ledge over water while holding onto a handle tied to a rope on their backs. The rope is connected to a winch. Every time Jeff cranks it, it brings them closer to the water.

Brenda has got the best balance of the group. She’s demonstrated this before. I think she’s got a good chance of winning. The others might be complacent because of the reward they just had. After 15 minutes, Cochran starts to slip. He falls into the water. He’s out. After 25 minutes, Eddie struggles and falls into the water. Erik drops out. Sherri is about to drop. It’s between Dawn and Brenda. Brenda doesn’t go for Dawn’s deal. It would be stupid to abandon the challenge at this point of the game. Brenda cannot hold on and falls into the water. It was really close. I didn’t think that Dawn would win it. It looks like Brenda dropped out. She didn’t seem to be struggling that much.

Later Brenda explains that she gave up immunity for Dawn. It was a strategic move on her part. Hopefully, she won’t get voted out because of this.

Brenda think that the vote will be straightforward. However, Cochran is thinking that Brenda should go. It would be more beneficial for his game. He starts talking with Sherri. Sherri already knows that blindsiding Brenda is what he would like to see. Cochran talks with Dawn. She’s aware of Brenda’s threat to her gameplay. Dawn is worried that in the end, Cochran will outplay her.

Brenda tells that because it was Dawn, it was OK to drop off. Cochran talks about long-term strategy versus short-term gratification.

In my first week, I went out on 3 runs. I added lots of klicks to this base thanks to brisk walks that I complete twice daily with Spike in tow.

I’ve walked another 14:26km at an average pace of 9-11:00 per km.

All in all, I’m feeling pretty good even though I’m quite sore. However, tonight I ran 6.16km in 47:11 at an average pace of 7:40 per km. I’m still taking some breaks, but they are shorter than beforehand hopefully in a couple of weeks, I’ll be able to run once again without any of them.

For today’s immunity challenge, they will balance on a triangular platform on the water. At regular intervals, they will move their feet upwards. The winner also gets information about the game.

Jeff pulls out a plate filled with donuts and a glass of milk for the ones who abandon. Erik and Eddie step out of the challenge. That’s stupid. After they move, Jeff offers up three hotdogs. Cochran didn’t think he would have been able to last much longer. Reynolds falters but is back on. After 30 minutes, everyone is still in it. They move up to the top of the platform. Dawn is off. Sherri is shaking a lot and she’s off. It’s between Andrea, Brenda and Reynolds. Reynolds falters again, but recovers. Reynolds does it again. He’s still on. Reynolds is finally out. Brenda is smiling. It’s between her and Andrea. They decide to stay on. It’s been 3 hours. The girls are still on it. They decide to lift up their left leg as part of the last part of their own immunity challenge. Brenda is off. Andrea wins immunity and reward.

Andrea promised to share the reward with Brenda. It’s a clue to the hidden immunity alliance. Andrea told her whole alliance, and they go looking for it together. Erik finds it.

Erik hands the idol over to Andrea immediately. Cochran thinks this is a stupid move. Andrea is contemplating blindsides. Andrea thinks that Brenda is a serious threat and that she needs to go. Cochran thinks that this is a good move because Brenda is one of the more capable players. She could easily win challenges. However, he thinks that the game is all about timing. Andrea starts talking with Dawn. They talk about getting rid of Brenda.

The biggest obstacle out here has been my mind.

It’s time for tribal. Cochran says that making a move is always about timing, and making the move the second before a move is going to be made.

Andrea is happy that Reynolds went home. Andrea wants to blindside someone in her alliance. She’s talking about getting rid of Dawn or Brenda. She’s talking it over with Cochran. Andrea wants to get rid of Brenda. Dawn, Brenda, and Cochran are talking. They think that Reynolds should go. Cochran says that Andrea will vote off either Dawn or Brenda. Brenda now wants Andrea out of the game. The problem is the idol. Brenda wants to marshall everyone’s vote to get rid of Andrea.

It’s time for the next immunity challenge. It looks like a big one. They will push a buoy through a series of obstacles to a post holding a key, which unlocks a chest holding ladder rungs. They will need to assemble it and raise their flag. Erik is in the early lead. Sherri is falling behind quickly. Erik is out of the water first. He’s got to untie some knots. Cochran, Dawn, Eddie, and Andrea are through. Erik is through first, followed by Andrea. Eddie and Brenda follow. Dawn arrives at the ladders. Sherri and Cochran follow. Andrea is in the lead. Brenda has got 3. Erik has got 2. Sherri is struggling again. Erik has 3 and another. Andrea hasn’t got one. Erik is flying through it. He’s got 6. Erik has got them all and he wins immunity.

A lot of the survivors have got Adidas shoes. I wonder if they were sponsored. Andrea tells Dawn that Brenda needs to go home. Andrea tells Eddie that it’s Brenda.

After Andrea has another talk with Cochran about Eddie, Cochran realizes that she has been planning on taking Eddie to the finals all along. He shares this insight with Dawn and Brenda before tribal.

I want to be part of everybody’s plan, and if I’m not part of yours Andrea, then you’re not part of mine.
Cochran

Cochran thinks that they should split the vote between Andrea and Cochran so that in case she plays the idol, Eddie will be going. He tells Erik. Andrea tells Erik that Brenda is going home. She also tells him that she wants him to go the finals. Erik is thinking about doing something with his vote. He feels in control of the game.

It’s time for tribal. Reynolds is sporting a nice 3 Amigos mustache. Andrea blurts out that she has the hidden immunity idol. Cochran mentions that she can play it until the final five.

Survivor Caramoan Title, Via Wikipedia

That was a great move by Malcolm last week. It couldn’t have been better planned. He saves all members of his alliance and gets rid of the leader of the other alliance. Now, the alliances can change once again. Erik, the flip-flopper, was the only one who changed his vote and didn’t vote like his alliance, but the Survivors expected this from him.

Malcolm’s plan was to fracture the Stealth R Us alliance and see what will happen next. Maybe one of the other members of Stealth R Us will join the Three Amigos.

The tribe had a rough night.

I’ve participated and certainly viewed hundreds of tribal councils. Never before have I seen anything quite like what happened at tribal council. It left me breathless, it left me terrified.
Cochran

Brenda starts to cry. She’s terrified of losing control of the game. They get tree mail and $500 for the Survivor auction. Malcolm says that he can’t spend any money on food, just on something that will give him an edge in the game, considering his position.

The Survivor auction starts, and for $20, there is a beer and some peanuts up for grabs. Malcolm immediately bets and wins the auction before the others can react. He gets two more beers and some pretzels as well. He chugs a beer right away.

Reynolds gets the next item for $180. He has to choose between 3 different covered items. Cochran tells him that he should switch. Reynolds doesn’t listen and sticks with his initial choice. He paid $180 for a slice of pizza. One of the other dishes held the rest of the pizza. Sherri bets $500 and gets it. The next one is a roasted chicken. Dawn bets $500. Malcolm bets $480 on the next item, which is supposed to be some info on the game. No one bets on it. Holy shit, what a bunch of idiots. He looks at the clue. It’s naturally a clue to another hidden immunity idol. He has 60 seconds to read it. It’s buried. The next item remains covered and Andrea gets it for $280. Spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread and red wine. If she gives it up, she can get rice and beans for the tribe. Andrea gives it up. The next item is an advantage in the next immunity challenge. Cochran gets it for $340.

Brenda gets the next one for $300. She gets pig brain. She doesn’t cry and even tries it. She takes it back. The next items are letters from their loved ones. Malcolm, Sherri, and Dawn can’t get them because they don’t have any money left. Dawn immediately starts to cry.

The next item remains covered. Eddie gets it for $200. The item will be shared by everyone. It’s a giant jar of peanut butter. That’s a good reward. They have 60 seconds to scarf it down.

-More often than you think.

Brenda is crying again. Cochran is also tearing up.

I’ve been trying hard to play this emotionless game this time. So just be this calm, cool, collected game ‘bot. Part of me is a little bit happy that I’m a person who values family and love and I guess the things that are really important.
Cochran

Reynolds starts talking to Sherri. He wants her to join the Three Amigos. She’s ready, if they’ve got something planned. If they can get an immunity necklace and a hidden immunity idol, they can do the same thing again. Or pretty much, unless the alliance remains together.

Malcolm tells Reynolds to deal with Erik, he’ll deal with Sherri. Reynolds wants to knock out Cochran for some reason. That night, Malcolm goes idol hunting. Andrea is looking for him. He finds the spot very quickly. Cochran and Andrea arrive. Andrea decides to just sit there. I don’t know why Malcolm stopped digging. He should just continue. It makes no sense since if they know, it won’t change the strategy. It’s kind of a Mexican standoff. Malcolm says that he wasted his money.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will hold onto a rope that is connected to a rod. At regular intervals, they will lower the weight. The last person standing will win immunity. Cochran reads his clue. At any point, he can put up his hands two knots. Eddie isn’t worried. They have to use one hand to hold the rope. After 10 minutes, Cochran uses his advantage. That was a smart move. This restarts him while the others have to bear the full weight. After 25 minutes, they are onto the last knot. Brenda is the first one out. Erik is next. Dawn struggles. Everyone has no knots left. Sherri is immediately out. Cochran has still got some knots left. Malcolm stumbles and is out. Andrea is out. Dawn makes a lot of noise but is out. That comes as no surprise. It’s between Reynolds, Eddie, and Cochran. Reynolds is out. Eddie starts to slip and he’s out. Cochran wins immunity. It’s not looking good for the Three Amigos.

Malcolm tells his compadres that they need to make the others think that they are playing the idol. His plan will only work if the favorites split the vote. Sherri tells Malcolm that she will vote with them, but in her VT she’s not sure anymore. Malcolm tells Sherri that they will vote for Andrea. Erik and Reynolds are talking. He’s playing both sides. In the favorites’ camp, the girls will vote for Reynolds, the boys will vote for Malcolm. Cochran says that they should vote in a block against one person. If the Three Amigos don’t have an idol, then it could be disastrous if the split goes wrong. Cochran thinks that Erik flipped the vote and if he does it again, it could be problematic.

Sherri thinks that she’s got the power in the game. She’s just a tool.

It’s time for tribal council. Reynolds says that it’s no longer split 6-3. Andrea says that anyone voting with the Three Amigos, will doom their game. Sherri says that she’s at the bottom of the alliance, so she might do better elsewhere. Andrea thinks that Malcolm has the hidden idol. Cochran explains how splitting the vote might be problematic if anyone votes with the Three Amigos this time again.

I really hope that you don’t have the idol, because voting you off would be so delicious, it would be indescribably delicious.

Back at camp, everyone has a meeting except the tribe members at the bottom. Stealth R Us have an executive meeting. They think that Malcolm, Reynolds and Eddie don’t have an idol anymore, so they will split the vote. After they make a S-R-Us cheer, Cochran motions to the camera that they are all insane. I agree.

Dawn is having a breakdown. She’s crying hysterically. She lost a retainer and she’s freaking out. Someone hit her and she lost some teeth. She doesn’t want anyone else to know. She calls for Brenda, who dives down to try and find the retainer. She finds it. So this was the breakdown? It was quite short.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They will be divided into two teams of five. They will race through a series of obstacles, into a muddy pit where they will search for some balls. They will go through some rice, drop them off and the next person goes. Once they have collected all five bags, they will shoot them into their basket. First team to 12 wins. The winning team will be taken to a resort with a pool and a nice lunch.

Reynolds, Erik, Dawn, Cochran and Philip are in purple. In orange, Eddie, Malcolm, Sherri, Andrea and Brenda. Erik has the lead over Malcolm. Erik digs a trench to do through the rice. Malcolm is digging up all of the bags for his teammates. The teams have different strategies. Malcolm is about to be lapped by Reynolds. Reynolds starts to dig for bags. Reynolds has all of the bags uncovered and leaves. Malcolm is still digging.

Malcolm has all the bags. Dawn is almost through with Dawn. Purple has 3 people on the matt. Andrea comes over. Orange has 2. Sherri is very slow. Purple has got 4. Sherri cost her team a lot of time. Orange is 1.5 players behind. Orange has got 3. Brenda is on the course. Purple is untying the bags. Purple has one ball in. And another. They have 4 balls in. And another, followed by 2 others. Eddie is through the rice. Purple has 10 balls. Purple wins. Orange didn’t have time to take out their balls.

The winning team enjoys their food.

Apparently protein is important in one’s diet. And this is a sort of energy I needed to go into challenges and continue being the challenge monster that I think that I’ve proven myself to be.
Cochran

Dawn is really happy about the shower and soap. Instead of washing off in the shower, Philip plunges into the pool and washes off there. It’s disgusting. Erik is really annoyed.

Dawn is exhausted. She hasn’t slept much and she’s paranoid about being blindsided. She’s paranoid that Andrea will target her. Philip thinks that Dawn needs to go because she’s going crazy.

How Dawn is so confident that she’s the person that will be at the receiving end of this vote is baffling to me, and it’s making me suspicious of Dawn quite frankly.
Cochran

Andrea tells Philip that Dawn is losing it. He agrees that she’s out of control.

She’s living in a world of total paranoia.

Dawn continues to cry.

I cry more than a baby.

We had one that flew over the cuckoo’s nest this game, Brandon Hantz, he’s gone. But it looks like there’s another hummingbird zipping over the cuckoo’s nest, and its name is Dawn.
Cochran

The next day, Dawn slept the whole night. She feels better.

After my meltdown tornado, I felt like myself.
Dawn

SRUs wants Reynolds out first. It was between Reynolds and Malcolm. They will throw 4 votes towards Reynolds and 3 towards Malcolm, just in case they have another idol.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will race across a platform, jump into the ocean, and swim under the platform, grab a ring and move on to the final round. Jeff warns them that the challenge will be exhausting. Reynolds, Cochran, Dawn, Andrea and Sherri are in the first heat. Reynolds is the lead, followed by Dawn. Andrea is 3rd. Reynolds is in the lead. Andrea is second. They move on.

Philip decides not to participate in the challenge because there was an incident when he was a boy. It’s Brenda, Malcolm, Eddie, and Erik facing off. Malcolm is in the lead. Everyone is in this. Malcolm is in the lead and he moves on. Eddie didn’t put his ring on the post. Brenda moves on. That was a stupid mistake by Eddie.

It’s the final round. They have 5 rings to move. It’s Reynolds, Andrea, Brenda and Malcolm. Malcolm and Reynolds are in the lead. The second time they are still close together. Reynolds has a slight lead for the third ring. Reynolds has a lead. There’s one ring left. Reynolds is first. He wins immunity. The women weren’t close. Malcolm was exhausted.

Malcolm should play the idol and have his alliance vote for Andrea or something like that. Or even Philip. That would be very interesting. Of course, they won’t actually do this.

Philip tells Andrea that they will split the vote between Eddie and Malcolm. Instead of strategizing, Malcolm, Eddie and Reynolds start looking for another idol. Andrea has the same idea. Instead, their alliance is just sitting around. Only Dawn and Andrea go look. Malcolm finds another idol. Holy shit. That’s incredible. Is it another idol or the same one?

Andrea tells her alliance that they will vote the same way.

It’s time for tribal. Jeff brings in the juror, Michael. The smart play would be if Malcolm and his buddies vote for Philip. If there is a tie and a revote, then other people might vote for Philip over Eddie. Philip explains why he sat out the challenge. Malcolm pulls out his other idol and gives it to Eddie. Holy shit! Everyone is freaking out. Cochran is speaking to Erik. Philip whispers “Andrea” to Brenda, she nods. and passes it on.

Except the three amigos.
Eddie

I’m the fainting sheep.
Dawn

Malcolm states that the three of them are voting for Philip.

Philip is the fun sponge, he sucks it all out of the group.
Malcolm

The SRUs alliance is still scrambling. I’m not sure that Dawn knows what to do. Philip tells them that they should vote the way that they had planned.

Voting plans are changing, which is extremely rare at tribal council.
Cochran

Erik mentions that the three amigos might not play the idols.

I have been listening to this song for the last few days, over and over, and it just keeps getting better. I’m pretty happy to see live drums and guitars in this latest excerpt from the upcoming Random Access Memories. Get Lucky mixes Pharell’s smooth voice with Nile Rodgers on guitar, and the robots on drums and bass. Simply awesome. While I’m typing this, I’m still listening to the excerpt over and over, and I have to agree that the music is quite emotional.

Reynolds is happy that Corinne left. He was spared. Instead of shutting up and getting ready for the next challenge, he opens his mouth to Andrea. It won’t take him long to spill the fact that he’s got an idol. Eddie also mentioned that any girl who was close to them got evicted, so maybe Reynolds isn’t as dumb as he seems. Maybe he just wants the tribe to get rid of Andrea.

Meanwhile, Malcolm is still reeling from the setback of losing his biggest ally. The flip side is that now, no one knows about the idol he has in his possession. He thinks that Mike, Eddie and Reynolds are still under his control.

Philip is talking to Sherri. He now wants Mike to go home. He starts to do his Stealth R Us BS. He gives Sherri the name Tenacity. She thinks she is all in with the favorites.

It’s time for the reward challenge. They are near a dock at the mouth of a river. They will divide into two teams of five. One member will be a defender. The others will try to score a ball into a net, by throwing themselves into the water and launching a ball. The reward is to go to a waterfall, rappel down, and get a picnic lunch. The purple team has Erik, Eddie, Cochran, Reynolds, and Mike. The orange team has Brenda, Philip, Dawn, Andrea and Malcolm. Sherri wasn’t picked so she isn’t going on reward. They are playing to four. Eddie launches directly at Malcolm, and fails. Brenda lobs the ball and scores. Erik goes high and scores for purple. It’s 1-1. Andrea scores for orange. It’s 2-1. Reynolds misses. Dawn misses too. Cochran scores. It’s 2-2. Philip does a stutter step and scores. It’s 3-2 for orange. Eddie finally scores. It’s tied 3-3. Brenda just misses. Erik scores. Purple wins. Eddie, Cochran, Reynolds and Mike will join him on reward. Malcolm looks pissed.

The rappel is a confidence boost for Cochran. They sit down and stuff themselves. They make a pitch to Cochran about an all guy alliance.

They must not know me very well because they think that emphasizing the testosterone unity between us. We’re men, we’re men and we hate women. We are going to slap each other with towels in the locker room, and chug beers. That doesn’t work with me. That doesn’t appeal to me at all. I’m not going to be engaging in any sort of masculine tomfoolery with these numbskulls.
Cochran

I need numbers and it’s easier to scoop them up at the bottom.
Malcolm

Malcolm starts talking with Sherri and Dawn to pull them away from the favorite voting block. Dawn thinks that Malcolm is going to be a problem. She wants to get rid of him. Sherri is already talking to Andrea and Dawn. Dawn says that Malcolm is trying to flip it. They hatch a scheme to blindside him and make him believe that both Sherri and Dawn are voting with him. Philip tells him that they will split the vote between Eddie and Reynolds, but in fact they will be voting for Malcolm. The only way that Malcolm can save himself is if someone plays the idol. Malcolm is an astute player. I wonder if he’ll pick up on this. Also, if Malcolm wins the immunity challenge, the game is going to get interesting.

Andrea and Eddie sneak out for an island date. He says that he won’t vote for Reynolds. She doesn’t come out and say that he needs to vote for Malcolm.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will step into cages in the water. As the tide rolls in, the space will become smaller. The winner is the one that lasts the longest. After 30 min, the water has risen about 3″. After 1 hour, everyone is still in. The water is lapping onto their faces. Philip is the first one out. That comes as no surprise. Sherri is out, followed by Erik. Dawn is out. They are making snorkels out of their hands. Malcolm takes a look at who is still in the challenge and steps out. Mike is out. The water is above the grate. Reynolds is out. Cochran and Eddie are out. It’s between Brenda and Andrea. Andrea is almost out, but changes position and is back in. She’s out after trying another position. Brenda wins the challenge. Jeff calls for someone to let her know because she would have kept on going. She hadn’t moved much at all during this challenge.

Andrea and Dawn tell Malcolm about the splitting the vote. Naturally, she was lying but it looks like Malcolm bought it. Malcolm wants to vote off Andrea. Dawn says that if he shows her the idol, then she’ll vote with him. She thinks that it’s nuts that he still trusts her, because she gave the info tot the others. Dawn thinks that Malcolm is no longer dialed in.

Malcolm briefs Reynolds about what will happen during the vote. Reynolds says that if she screws him over, he’s going home. So if he doubts her, he’ll play the idol for himself. That was a bad move. Dawn kind of hates him now.

Reynolds doesn’t want Eddie talking with Andrea, because she’ll just reel him in and tell him lies. Andrea tells him that he’s not going home but she can’t tell him how to vote tonight. Eddie tells her that her name has been thrown around. Since there’s an idol in play, she has to change her play. She tells Cochran to vote for Mike, it’s the safe vote. Cochran is surprised that Andrea is willing to stop this aggressive move about taking out Malcolm and just vote safely. She changes her mind. She briefs her troops.

She talks with Dawn, and she’s so frustrated that she starts to cry a bit. Dawn is also angry because she worked so hard on getting the numbers and maneuvering Malcolm out. Andrea says that she can change it again if she’s certain that Malcolm doesn’t have an idol.

It’s time for tribal. Philip starts talking about Stealth R Us. Everyone is making faces at Jeff while he goes on.

I’d rather play my own game than be somebody’s puppet.
Eddie about Sherri

Andrea says that if the right person gets the right numbers at the right time, they can change the game. Jeff was paraphrasing her. Philip basically says that if this were the case, then they would be wrong and they would be gone next. Malcolm hears this all and looks shocked. He might play the idol. I’m not sure. I’d play it.

Reynolds is going to play the idol but before he can say anything, Malcolm tells him to hold up. He says that they all voted for him. He can tell. The whole story was about him. He should give him the idol so he can play it. Reynolds gives it up and Malcolm plays it. This means that the vote that Malcolm put on Reynolds could be the one that sends him home. Well, probably not. If the others voted for Andrea, she’s going home. Dawn and Brenda can’t believe it. Well, they are making faces at least.

Philip tells Dawn and Corinne that he threw the last challenge. Corinne knows that he didn’t throw the challenge. He’s just a deluded git. Phil says that he decided to throw the challenge at the challenge. Both Dawn and Corinne don’t believe him.

But he’s so cuckoo for CoCo Puffs that there’s no question that Philip has to go.
Corinne

Bikal is anticipating a merge soon. There are only 12 players left. Dawn remembers that back in her original season, this was when things went wrong. Cochran flipped and her game went down the tube. Dawn makes some VT about how much a million dollars would change her life and the life of her 6 kids. Whatever.

A boat is coming ashore. The boat will take the Gota to the Bikal beach for the merge. They have a feast. Brenda is wearing a bandage on her knee. Malcolm comes up with the name Enil Edam, which he says means new beginning. In fact, it’s his mom name backwards.

Phil meets with Andrea. He says that they’ve got a strong 4 with Cochran and Dawn. They need to get rid of the strong men of the fans.

Malcolm and Corinne talk about getting rid of Philip. Malcolm says that he’s got Reynolds and Eddie in his pocket. Erik floats around, but he’ll vote with the boys. Corinne says that she’s got Michael. So they’ve got 6 votes. They talk about getting rid of Sherri first because she’s a bit weird and it’s awkward being around her. That will make everyone happy. Then, they’ll get rid of Philip.

It’s time. It’s blindside time.
Corinne

Tree mail implies that they will be eating gross stuff. Excellent. Reynolds says that it is one of his weaknesses.

Eddie was worried that this might damage his dating prospects. That he’s going to be seen as someone who’s partaken in something very gross, potentially alienating women. For me, I need some sort of image rehabilitation. This would add a little bit of a wild streak to me and might make me seem a bit more dangerous. I think this is exactly what my love life needs.
Cochran

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They will have a disgusting food competition. Andrea, Sherri, Corinne, Eddie, Erik and Malcolm face off. They are eating beetle larvae. Andrea is first. Malcolm is second. Eddie is third. The others are out.

Reynolds, Brenda, Cochran, Philip, Michael, and Dawn are eating the same thing. Cochran is first. Philip is second. Michael is third. Dawn, Brenda, and Reynolds are out.

Andrea, Cochran, Philip, Michael, Eddie and Michael are eating ship worms. They are some kind of clam. Malcolm is first, followed very closely by Eddie. Cochran is third.

Jeff

Eddie, Cochran and Malcolm face off. They will eat duck embryos. The first two will move on. Cochran is first. Malcolm is second. Eddie keeps spitting it out because it’s too disgusting. Eddie pukes it out.

It’s between Cochran and Malcolm.

He’s ginger Kobayashi, what am I supposed to do about it?
Malcolm

They are eating some kind of brains. They are eating pig brains. I think Cochran will win. He wins it. He wins immunity. That was impressive. He had beaten them all without any problems.

Back at camp, everyone seems happy for Cochran. Malcolm is miffed. He doesn’t really see him as a threat. Malcolm talks with Eddie about what will happen at tribal.

Philip tells Corinne that they should split the vote between Eddie and Reynolds. Corinne says that the fans don’t like Sherri and that they want her gone. Philip says that he wants a big fish to go home. He also wants to flush out an idol. He doesn’t listen to Corinne.

Corinne talks with Cochran, Dawn and Andrea. She says that they should just disregard or strongarm Philip into voting their way, which is what he always does to them.

Corinne was adamant that we not target Reynolds or Eddie, which I don’t fully understand, but if Sherri goes, it’s no sweat off my back. Sherri’s an easy vote, and her elimination would lock the favorites numbers in a way that would be irreversible.
Cochran

What doesn’t bode well is the fact that Corinne and Philip hate each other and they have a suspicion of each other that’s unhealthy. If the favorites don’t come together, that’s basically admitting to the world, fans included, that’s we’re a dysfunctional group that doesn’t completely trust each other, there are openings for them to enter, and that we are apt to fall apart given the right catalyst.
Cochran

Now, Corinne talks with Eddie and Reynolds.

I’ve hitched my wagon to this Malcolm and Corinne counter-alliance. They are receptive to the idea of bringing in some of the fans and to overthrowing the tyranny of Lord Philip of the High Shelter.
Reynolds

That’s one of the first good quotes that I remember of Reynolds.

Corinne about Philip

Eddie and I have been delusionally optimistic about this game every day.
Reynolds

Corinne tells Dawn that after this vote for Sherri, they should get rid of Philip. Dawn has got flashbacks about what happened the last time she played. She talks with Cochran.

Corinne let it be known that she’s rallied this group of troops together that gives her the numbers and gives her post-merge control of the game.
Cochran

Cochran and Dawn talk about getting rid of Corinne.

Corinne, who I thought didn’t have a strategic bone in her body, she’s positioned herself in a way that we’ve been acquiescing to every single demand she’s made. It’s a sobering situation. If we don’t come up with a plan, it would be devastating to my game and the game of my allies.
Cochran

Cochran tells Andrea that Corinne has got Reynolds, Eddie, Malcolm, Erik and Michael’s votes. Cochran tells her that if they are on the wrong side of the vote, they would be dead. He says that Corinne is calling all of the shots. Andrea says that if they could get Sherri and maybe Erik to vote for Corinne.

He’s a huge question mark because he doesn’t talk strategy with anyone.

Andrea tells Philip what Corinne is planning on doing. He’s on board to vote out Corinne. He approaches Sherri about voting for Corinne.

Andrea tells Erik the way that they will vote.

It’s disconcerting that my fate in the game rests in the hands of Sherri, who’s desperate for some kind of footing in this game, and Erik the Ice Cream Scooper, a guy who doesn’t like strategy, and who has proven himself previously to be incompetent at playing this game.
Cochran

Malcolm tells Erik to vote for Sherri. Erik isn’t sure which way to vote yet.

Michael thinks that another fan will be voted out next. Corinne says that she’s open to ideas. Cochran says that she’s very honest about it. Erik says that there is always someone at the bottom, desperate enough. Sherri thinks that the fans don’t have a shot.

Well, I’m about 3 months late, but rest assured, I still keep tabs on what I read. I’ve had my ups and downs last year, voraciously reading on my iPad for months on end, then falling into TV series for weeks before returning to books once again. In 2011, I read 85 books. I didn’t manage to read 100 in 2012, but I’ll try once again this year. Although, I’m onto a slow start. However, things are picking up again, and I hope to have at least 20-40 books read by midyear.

Michael is trying to recover from losing Matt. Corinne wants to keep her gay in the game, her words, not mine. Philip sees Corinne talking with others and decides that she needs to leave. He talks with Cochran.

The tribes get tree mail. It implies that the weak will carry the strong.

I’m the strongest guy out here.
Philip

Philip challenges Cochran to an arm wrestling match. Cochran thinks that this is to build up his ego. WTF.

It’s time for the reward challenge. Each of the tribes will be wearing a belt and a 20 pound sand bag. They are trying to catch/get away from the other tribe. They can give their weight to someone of their tribe. They are playing for time at a coffee bar. Brenda is sitting this one out. Gota has got some good strategy. Both tribes start walking. They are running around an oval. Gota is picking up the pace. Philip kept saying that he was the strongest guy out there but he can’t seem to run. Gota is catching up. Dawn gives her bag to Corinne and she’s out. Gota is running. Cochran is out. Corinne has got 60 lbs. Andrea falls down. As does Philip. Gota wins easily.

That’s a diarrhea fest. They’re going to get sick.
Dawn

This is some of the fans’ first reward.

I wanna get as close to them as possible before, you know, I vote them out so they’ll still vote for me.
Andrea

All we do is win challenges and party.
Malcolm

You’re a tubby lunchbox! I’ve yet to see an ab on you. I don’t see any pectoral muscles. He’s an … an amoeba. He’s a … a loose ten pounds of potatoes in a five pound pound bag.
Corinne

Corinne talks with Cochran. He says that Corinne and Philip hate each other on the VT. He wants to get rid of a fan but even that’s no longer sure.

Julia is such a non-entity out here. I’m tempted to say that she’s like a vanilla personality, but I feel like this would be a great disservice to the flavor vanilla. People actively seek out vanilla-flavored products. Children clamor for vanilla ice cream. Nobody is clamoring for anything Julia-flavored.
Cochran

Philip is talking strategy with Julia. Corinne just walks by when Philip talks about being a double agent.

He’s going to disrupt the unity of the tribe by driving everyone crazy.

Meanwhile, Julia is thinking about getting rid of Philip.

Malcolm talks with Reynolds about sticking together in the merge. Malcolm thinks that himself, Erik, Reynolds and Eddie will be the first targets after the merge. Reynolds says that he has an idol and that he’ll use it on Malcolm if he needs it. Malcolm has had an idol since day 4. He’s the only one in the game who knows who has the idols.

Julia talks with Dawn about Philip. Dawn tells Philip what Julia told her about working under Philip.

She’s managed to commit a couple of foo-pas.

Now Philip thinks that Julia is an idiot and now he wants her gone.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. Three members of each tribe will paddle into the ocean to release statues and bring them back to shore, placing them at the foot of a tower. Three others will use a grappling hook to retrieve keys. The keys will be used to unlock the tower. Then, they will their statue to the top. Sherri sits this one out.

Dawn, Corinne and Michael are in the boat for Bikal. Brenda, Erik and Eddie are going for Gota. Gota is pulling away. Bikal is back in this after Gota goes the wrong way. Gota has their statue free. Bikal is close behind. Gota leaves. Bikal almost tips their boat. Gota is at shore. Gota has got their statue in place. Reynolds is using the grappling hook. He gets the first one for Gota. He gets another one, followed by another. Philip manages to get one. Reynolds gets another. Philip gets his second. Philip gets his third. Reynolds gets his fifth key. Philip misses again. Andrea and Reynolds open their tower. Gota wins immunity.

At Bikal, Philip was sulking. He pulls Cochran aside. He says that he blew the challenge. Cochran is incredulous.

You can’t make up this level of delusion.
Cochran

Cochran knows that Philip didn’t throw the challenge, but he also believes that Philip managed to convince himself that he did actually throw the challenge. The plan is to split the vote among Julia and Michael to flush out the idol. Corinne doesn’t want this because she loves her gay.

It has to be a show of unity. It has to be unanimous. I don’t want him thinking that we’re not 100% behind him.
Philip paraphrasing Corinne

Corinne walks in on Philip’s conversation with Dawn and Cochran. He bitches her out. She’s pissed.

Philip wants to vote out Michael. I don’t know if this is a plan set in stone. It clearly has nothing to do with Julia or Michael. It’s masking something that’s about to come to the surface. And tonight’s vote will probably set in motion a series of events that will bring this Philip vs Corinne feud to the surface and make it clear why they can’t play together.
Cochran

It’s time for tribal. Corinne says that they shouldn’t screw up going into the merge. Philip admits that he lost the challenge.

I think that it’s neat that he’s gay.

Brandon definitely made Survivor history last week. The tribe unanimously decided to get rid of Brandon. Back at Bikal, the tribe is still reeling about what Brandon did. They are worried about how much the tribe of fans will finally get some momentum.

Philip wants to get rid of Corinne. At Gota, the tribe receives tree mail.

It’s time for the reward challenge. Jeff talks to them a bit and then tells them to drop their buffs. They are switching tribes. Gota has Eddie, Reynolds, Andrea, Malcolm, Sherri, Erik and Brenda. Corinne, Philip, Michael, Cochran, Matt, Julia and Dawn are Bikal. They all get a new bag of rice and a new flint. The tribes are going back to their camps.

The Gota tribe is pretty happy. They group hug. Whatever. Reynolds and Eddie tell Erik and Malcolm about what’s been going on in camp. They want to get rid of Sherri. Erik says in a VT that this raised flags for him. Sherri spills the beans to Brenda and Andrea about Eddie and Reynolds.

Corinne likes Michael, Philip talks with Julia. Philip wants to use Julia. He gives her his spiel.

Malcolm and Andrea talk about the situation at camp.

I’m an accomplished liar when it comes to women.
Malcolm

Philip is already strategizing, thinking that he could use Julia. Corinne is worried because they don’t need her. They need an idol, not any numbers. Corinne talks to Dawn. They can’t believe what Philip is doing.

He can’t be left alone.

It’s time for the immunity challenge. It’s the same setup as last time. I was wondering if they would use it again. Two members of each tribe will race to roll large crates back to the start. Then, the next two will go. Once they have collected all six, they must use them to create a staircase that spells out “Fans Vs Favorites”. Eddie and Erik have an early lead over Philip and Julia. Malcolm and Andrea are working well together. Michael and Dawn are trying to make up some time. Brenda and Reynolds are flying through. They almost lap Bikal. Malcolm and Eddie head out for the fifth crate. Philip and Cochran are on their 4th. Gota laps Bikal. Gota has got all of their crates. Philip is sent out again. That’s a lot and he’s walking the crate back. Bikal has got all of their crates back.

Gota has got 3 crates in place. Meanwhile, Julia and Philip are bickering. Julia tells them to put the wrong crate up high. It doesn’t really matter. Gota has 5 in place. Gota wins immunity. Bikal didn’t have one crate placed correctly. Dawn is crying in frustration. Gota totally dominated the challenge.

Back at camp, Philip makes a little speech. It annoys Corinne and probably some of the others. Matt asks Philip what will happen tonight. Philip says that Julia has to go. Matt is here. Philip starts talking about Stealth R Us again. WTF. He continues his BS. Philip tells them that someone else in his alliance will tell them what to do. If they do so, they should do it unless Philip tells them otherwise. Matt wants to LOL but he keeps a straight face and kisses some ass.

Matt and Michael are talking to Julia privately. They don’t tell her what’s going on. She thinks that they should all vote for Dawn. Later, Corinne talks to them. Cochran is there as well. Cochran thinks that it makes sense to vote out Julia, but leaving in a non-spoken power couple like Michael and Matt could be dangerous. Cochran doesn’t think that either of them has the idol. He’s not sure how the vote will go because the idols are in play.

Before tribal, the favorites are talking about who to vote for. It’s a toss up between Matt and Julia. Corinne would like to get rid of Julia, and she doesn’t like her. Cochran wants to flush the idol out, if there is one in play. Voting for Matt makes sense that way. Philip wants the girl gone.

It’s time for tribal. Michael has no doubt that one of the fans will be evicted. Corinne makes an ass of herself again by talking about the gay. She says that she would have liked to replace at least 3 members in her own alliance by the fans. Corinne says that she’s paranoid about the immunity idol. If one of them has it, they could send one of the favorites home. It was also important not to divulge any information about how the vote will go, because that would allow the fans to place their idol in play in the most effective manner.

They’re forming a strong tribe of 7, probably, they are kind of like the bold and the beautiful group. I don’t see me necessarily penetrating that group.
