Only close friends from his childhood know that Rajnikanth always had an inclination for acting. Cinebuzz.in brings you this exclusive bit of news about Rajinikanth Childhood. His father, Shri Ramoji Rao Gaikwad, was a constable in the Karnataka Police and a strict disciplinarian too. It was said that when his father was on duty if he saw any overloaded tonga (Horse cart) the cart men would abandon the Tonga and run away. Over loading was a common thing and they would dread to come across the senior Gaikwad. They would flee leaving Rajnikanth’s father the task of taking the horse cart to the police station. Rajni’s friends say that he inherited his father’s fearless spirit and was ever ready to fight to defend himself. Rajnikanth studied at the Acharya Patashala in Basavanagudi in suburban Bangalore.

Rajnikanth’s mother Ram Bai died when Rajni was very young leaving his father to take care of him. He had an elder sister called Ramabai and two brothers. The elder brother was Satyanarayana Rao Gaikwad and the other brother was Nageshwara Rao Gaikwad. Rajni was the youngest in the family and when his father retired the responsibility of bringing up the family fell on the eldest brother.

Nageshwara was Rajni’s favourite and when he enlisted in the army and went to fight the war against the Chinese in 1962 Rajni went through some anxious times. Nageshwara returned after the war was over but since he was wounded in the war the Government gave him a job in Hindustan Aeronautics Bangalore. Rajni’s friends say that Nageshwara was a kind and jolly person and Rajni adopted many of his mannerisms when he became an actor. Unfortunately Nageshwara died soon after but if he had been alive he would have been in his mid sixties. He was the closest to Rajnikanth and people who knew them say that the two of them were more like friends than brothers.

Soundarya Rajinikanth has said that Kochadaiyaan is one of the names of Lord Shiva. There were reports that it is the name or title of a Pandya king, but the film’s director Soundarya has clarified that it is the name of Lord Shiva.

Rajinikanth starrers Arunachalam and Annamalai, incidentally, are also the names of Lord Shiva. With the debut director opting for yet another Lord Shiva’s names, there must certainly be some sentiment attached to the title, say sources.

Superstar Rajnikanth returned tonight to Chennai after over six weeks of treatment for kidney-related ailments in Singapore. Rajnikanth, 61, arrived late Wednesday evening amidst expected euphoria among his fans who have been praying for the good health of the actor. After suffering from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his period flick Rana, the actor was hospitalised twice. He was flown to Singapore in the last week of May for treatment of reported kidney ailment .

Superstar Rajinikanth’s much awaited Rana has been shelved due to his ill health, director K.S. Ravikumar has now confirmed that the project is very much on. The director also confirmed that the film’s shooting has been postponed tentatively due to Rajni’s health issues.

“Rajni sir is keen to perform all the stunts himself. As far as I know, he doesn’t like the idea of using a body double to do his action sequences. You know, he is keeping a close eye onRana’s development,” K.S. Ravikumar was quoted as saying.

“We were planning to resume towards the end of June, but we have pushed it back by a few months. Rajni sir is fine, but his health is of paramount importance,” he added.

Superstar Rajinikanth will be flying to Singapore Friday night for further treatment, sources close to the ailing star family told DC on Thurs-day. He is now undergoing treatment at Sri Ramachan-dra Hospital in Chennai. They said Rajini has been booked as a wheelchair passenger on a Singapore Airlines flight and is travelling in his passport name Shivaji Rao. Some members of his family perhaps wife Latha and daughter Aishwarya are accompanying him.

Arrangements are being made to transport the 61-year-old actor discreetly to the Chennai International airport on Friday. The family is trying to get permission for Rajini ambulance to be driven right up to the tarmac, the source added. Rajinikanth’s wife Latha, and his daughter Aishwarya were not reachable for a confirmation, as they were in discussion with the doctors at Sri Ramachandra hospital until late on Thursday night. While doctors at the hospital have been maintaining that Rajini is recovering well, and is cheerful, his travelling abroad for further treatment and rest has been on the cards for sometime now.

Rajini was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Hospital on May 13, with complaints of gastroenteritis and pneumonia. The starâ€™s fans had raised the alarm when he was shifted to the ICU for close monitoring on May 18. Doctors removed excess fluid from his chest, and also put him on temporary dialysis to improve his kidney function.

Superstar Rajinikanth, undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai for gastro intestinal and respiratory problems, is “comfortable” and his vital parameters have returned to “normal” levels, a medical bulletin said today.

“Thorough investigations and appropriate treatment made him comfortable and his vital parameters returned to normal”, said the bulletin issued by the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, where the actor was admitted on May 13.

However, Rajinikanth would continue to remain in the Intensive Care Unit to restrict visitors and avoid infections, it said.

“The 61-year-old actor spends time with family members and takes oral diet by himself,” the bulletin said.

The actor’s fans continued to perform special prayers in various temples across the state, including the Sri Raghavendra temple in Mylapor here, for his speedy recovery.

Hundreds of fans of Rajinikanth offered special prayers at the dargah of Saint Hazrath Syed Shahul Hameed Quadir Wali in Nagore in Nagapattinam district for the speedy recovery of the superstar.

Members of Nagapattinam District Rajinikanth Fans Association, participated in the prayers last night in the nearly 500-year-old dargah.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has been put on dialysis and shifted to the ICU after developing kidney problems. Doctors attending to Rajinikanth, however, say there is no need to worry as he is responding well to the treatment and is stable.

Rajinikanth, who was admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre on May 13 for recurrent respiratory infection and gastro-intestinal problems, was on Wednesday night shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. Reports also say there is some water in his lungs.

Doctors say there’s no need to panic and that he has been shifted to the ICU just to improve his breathing pattern and to keep a close eye on his health. But reports say the 61-year-old has been undergoing dialysis as his kidneys have not been functioning properly. He was earlier admitted to hospital on April 29 – the first day of shoot of his new film ‘Raana’ and then again on May 4.

Industry observers believe the movie – with a projected budget of Rs 150 crore – may have to be shelved if the superstar’s health remains critical.

Doctors also said the actor was showing positive response to treatment.

A multi-disciplinary team of doctors is closely watching his vital parameters to assess benefits from multi-pronged treatment strategies.

Doctors said he was responding well to treatment. Rajinikanth, who suffered from viral fever and exhaustion recently, was admitted to SRMU at suburban Porur days after he was discharged from another hospital where he had been treated for allergic bronchitis and viral fever.

His family had last week dismissed reports that his health had deteriorated.

Ever since the actor, who is paired with 25-year-old Deepika Padukone in his next film Raana, took ill, there has been widespread speculation about his illness.
