Before learning the methods that you can use to uninstall unwanted programs, you first need to know how these programs get installed on your system in the first place.

The following are some of the common ways in which unwanted programs get installed on your system:

If you have purchased a branded PC with a pre-installed operating system, it is quite possible that the system comes preloaded with several shareware programs that may expire after a while.

Many programs get installed along with other programs you install on your system. For instance, the Yahoo toolbar is installed along with Yahoo Messenger, if you fail to clear a check box asking whether or not you want to install the toolbar.

At times, when you download freeware and shareware programs on your system, they may come bundled with spyware and adware programs. These malicious programs not only stealthily install themselves on your system, but also download and install several other unwanted programs on the system.

Let us now have a look at some of the various methods that you can use to get rid of these unwanted programs installed on your system.

The first step that any Windows user should take is to use the Add or Remove Programs feature. This helps because most of the software that is installed on your system makes an entry in the installed programs list of this tool. So, when you start with the process of cleaning up your system, your first step should be to open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box from the Control Panel. Next, browse through the currently installed programs list and remove all programs you do not want. For example, if you want to uninstall AOL messenger, select the AOL messenger removal option from the currently installed programs list and then proceed as per the screen instructions.

There are a few programs that do not add the uninstall option in Add or Remove Programs. These programs can be removed by selecting the shortcut to the program’s uninstaller file in the Start menu or by navigating to the program’s folder in the Windows Explorer and then double-clicking the uninstall file for the program.

At times, your system may have a few stubborn programs that may be difficult to completely remove from the system. To get rid of these stubborn programs, you may use an efficient and trustworthy third-party program uninstaller tool.

Many software manufacturers develop separate removal tools that are made available on their Web site. For example, if you want to remove a Symantec or MacAfee product from the PC, you can download their respective uninstaller tools to ensure complete removal.

It is usually impossible to remove spyware and adware programs using Add or Remove Programs. This is because these malicious programs copy such a large amount of data to your hard disk and the registry that some information always gets left behind. Therefore, to get rid of these unwanted programs, you need a special tool, commonly known as the antispyware tool. You must update your antispyware tool with the latest spyware database and then run a full system scan to weed out all spyware related data from the PC. A good antispyware tool performs thorough disk and registry cleanup to ensure complete removal of spyware from your system.

Well, few months before I talked about streaming audio and video over the LAN/Intranet but today I am going to discuss about setting up a Radio Station so that any one can stream audio over the internet. (You can use this technique for streaming videos or your webcam outputs as well)

Basic Requirements

1.) Window Media Encoder 9 - Get it from here.

2.) Music Source - You can use your CD player output or simply few audio files stored on your computer. Music source can be generated by many other means as well like MP3 player or other similar audio devices.

3.) Selected Port Forwarding by Router - This is most important. Not many of us know how to configure Router to forward the selected port. But don’t worry, I’ll provide you the detailed guide to this problem. First, you should know about your Router manufacturer name. After that, visit this page for step-by-step guides on how to setup port forwarding. (Scroll down to that page and you will see list of all possible routers. Select the name of your router and it will take you to the next page. Find the “Default Guide” link on that new page and click on it to get the detailed information.)

Initially, even I was not aware of how to forward ports but thanks to Madhur who helped me in doing this. Later on, I found the above mentioned site for learning to forward ports on all types of Routers.

Now when you are done with all basic requirements, let’s move to actually configuring our system so that we can able to successfully set up our own radio station.

Configurations

1.) Choose any Port number of your choice and program your router to forward your selected port to your main computer. I chose 2300 at my port number.

2.) Open Windows Media Encoder

3.) Select “Broadcast a live event“.

4.) Uncheck the “Video” checkbox and enable “Audio” checkbox. Now from the drop down list choose your Sound Card and click on “Next“.

5.) Select “Pull from the encoder“.

6.) Enter the Port Number you selected before. In my case its 2300 and I have programmed my router to forward the same port number. (Don’t forget this. It’s very important)

7.) Now comes another important part- “How you want to encode your audio?”

Let’s understand first what does it actually mean. The higher the bit rate, the better will be the quality of the streaming audio. But there is always a certain limit. Suppose you have a Broadband connection of 256 Kbps and you choose 135 Kbps as your desired Bit Rate. If you get 2 listeners who connect at the same time, they will occupy 270kb and your bandwidth maximum limit gets exceeded. You certainly don’t want to do that. Right?

So, its better you choose “Multiple bit rates audio (CBR)” that gives you option at the time of streaming, to select from multiple bit rates (9, 11, 13, 15 and so on) depending upon the users connected or willing to connect to your radio station.

8.) DO NOT select “Archive”. Leave it as it is and click on “Next”.

9.) Enter a Title, Author and other information for your Radio Station.

10.) Finally, click “Finish“.

11.) Now if you are using a CD player as an audio source, plug the output of CD player to AUX input of the streaming server computer (the BLUE jack) and start playing your music in the player.

OR, if you want the audio files from your server computer to be streamed then carry on with the following steps:-

In the Media Encoder select View -> Source Panel.

A small window of “Sources” should appear inside it. Click the down arrow and select “Properties…”

Under “Source from:” option select “File“, and then browse to the actual location of your audio file.

Under “At end:” option select from the drop down list “Roll over to next source“.

Add another source and do the same. You can add as many as you want. Just don’t forget to choose the correct “At end:” option.

Finally, click on “Apply”

12.) Click the “Start Encoding” button.

Your computer will now be acting as a server of streaming Radio Station.

How to Listen to your Radio Station?

Go to http://www.whatismyip.com and you will get your External IP address from there.

Now, ask you friend who want to connect to your Radio station to do the following:-

Open Windows Media Player.

Press Ctrl+U or go to File -> Open URL…

Enter the URL mms://<yourIP>:<port>/

Example: - Suppose your IP is 192.166.217.134 (this should be the same IP which you get from whatsmyip.com website) and the port number you selected earlier is 2300. So the complete URL should be mms://192.166.217.134:2300/

That’s it you are done. Hope you like the tutorial. If you encounter any problem during the whole process just share it with us through comments section and I’ll try to solve those as soon as possible.

The feed count is also increasing real fast. At the end of April it was 92 and right now at the time of writing this post it reads 201.

But then again when my blog is on a high, I will soon be forced to leave blogging for couple of months.

Reason?

I got my date of joining in Infosys at Mysore, India on 23rd June, 2008. Sooooooo early.

Never mind, I’ll try my best to find some time out of my busy schedule to write few good articles. I just can’t afford to leave my blog idle for so long. (If any one wishes to work here for some time, do contact me. You are most welcome!)

Ok, that’s a different issue. Now comes the important part. The articles which really changed the whole condition of my blog. Here are the top 7 most popular articles of the month, May.

Choosing a cheap and reliable hosting server is always a matter of great concern to every person willing to launch his personal or business websites. There are cases when a site owner is not satisfied with his hosting company services. So, finding a suitable web hosting is must before you plan to start any website.

At Web1 Solutions, India’s fastest growing and most dynamic web solutions company, the customer satisfaction is of primary concern. To add to that it offers a full range of affordable, reliable and feature-packed hosting services.
Mr. Deep Ganatra is the founder of the company that guarantees 24×7x365 Live Support with 99.9% Uptime.

What I like most about it?

I’ll better answer it through following points:-

1.) They value their customers- Being a customer, you just ask what you want and they’ll try their best to provide you with the same. Very quick in responding to any queries or problems. Top notch hospitality.

2.) No Downtime- For every site administrator this issue is very important. No one wants their site to go down every now and then especially when you are receiving high amount of traffic and expecting a high earning on a particular day. You can just relax without any worries.

3.) Wide Range of Plans to choose - Their Linux Hosting packages range right from 25 MB to 3 GB and can suit every requirement and budget. More than that, you can also buy extra Space as well as extra Bandwidth anytime, so you can never run short of it. Everyone can afford to buy one, great huh?

My blog is hosted on Web1 itself and believe me, right from the day I first started blogging, I didn’t face any problems as such. There were few cases when my b/w exceeded its maximum limit but then it was resolved so quickly I can’t even imagine that. This is what we call 24×7x365 Live Support, isn’t it?

So, what you waiting for?

I am giving THUMPS UP to the Web1 Solutions Hosting services and if any body among you planning to launch their new website, you should consider this as one of the best in the business. Also, if you fed up with your existing hosting server, Web1 is just the right place for you.

This is perhaps the last post ever published from my university hostel room no H-5/31.

On 26th July, 2004 (yea, I still remember the date) I was first stepped into Jaypee University Of Information Technology to pursue an undergraduate course, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). Four years henceforth, today i.e 26th May, 2008 I am all set to leave my university for ever with a Degree in hand, a job waiting and my personal blog Aarambh running successfully.

Really, four long years have passed like anything and now it’s so hard to believe the reality. If you ask me what I will miss the most, my answer would be MY DEAR FRIENDS and also MY HOSTEL ROOM.

This is a nostalgic feeling. You have spent 4 years living with your friends, enjoying every moment with your friends, sharing every problems with your friends and more than that even those fights among friends-all will become a MEMORY in just few minutes from now. Difficult to believe, right?

But that’s the way life is. I learned so much out here in college both in terms of academic and life and now it’s time to actually implement those in real life which happens to be a corporate life. A place difficult to survive for many.

Dear readers, please wish me good luck for future and also help me to come out of this nostalgia moments. Man, it’s so so so difficult to leave from a place which transformed me to a MAN from a BOY.

Four years henceforth, today i.e 26th May, 2008 I am all set [...]

TNX.Net- A Text Ad Network to Earn Money and Increase Traffic

First thing that comes in our mind when we discuss about text-link advertisements are whether they are compatible with Google or not.

Why is this so?

That’s because an average publisher does not have a good choice of advertisers that leads to poor and irrelevant links.
Almost all text links services does not allow publishers to choose their most likely advertisers instead only advertisers has got the option to choose the publisher’s website.

This is the simple reason Google says they will punish everybody else, involved in buying and selling links.

BUT I GOT AN EXCEPTION HERE.

TNX.Net is the next wave of ways to promote your website or blog through links. This can be beneficial for both publishers and advertisers. TNX tries to close the gap between advertisers and publishers offering fair rates to both in terms of TNX POINTS. Publishers earn TNX POINTS by selling links from each page on their website and in turn they can either en cash those Points or sell earned TXN POINTS by buying links as an Advertiser. Isn’t it great?

And yes, don’t worry about Google. TNX has launched A New Free Tool to Make Paid Links Look NATURAL for Google.

For Publishers

The best thing about TNX is that whether your site is popular or not so popular, you will always get opportunities to sell the links on every page of your website. Of course, the price is calculated based on Google Page Rank (PR) but still everybody has got the option to earn whatever money he/she can.

TNX commission in this whole process is just 12.5% from each party which is very less compared to other similar services that take away 30%-50% of total income.

For Advertisers

If you are an advertiser, you can improve your site ranking in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Live.com and many more. Advertisers can receive well targeted traffic from relevant sites just by buying links for as low as $11 a month.

A link on a site with PageRank 0 costs 1 TNX point ($0.0016) whereas a link on a PR 7 page will cost you 5,000 TNX points ($8).

So, if you are an existing member of TNX network, you can also use their new Referral Program. In their own words “When you refer a webmaster to TNX and advertiser pays 100 TNX-Points for a link on your referral’s website, your referral (webmaster) gets 75 points and you get 10 points which is 13.3% of his income”.

In short, Site publishers can not only use TNX.net to earn money, they can also use it to promote own websites by taking advantage of their system as an advertiser.

What are you waiting for? Go ahead give it a try. Start using it and I am sure you will have nothing to repent.

Making things easier, there is also a limited offer from TNX.net to get LINKS from 5,000 quality websites for FREE.

If you liked this article and planning to register with TNX network, you can use My Referral for signing into the text ad network.

So many times we encounter a situation when data once deleted from a USB drives cannot be recovered back simply because the deleted data does not move into the Recycle Bin instead it is deleted permanently.

But don’t worry I got a solution to this problem. If we can mount our USBs to a windows folder then not only all deleted data can be recovered easily but also it will be lot easy to organize multiple USB drives.

Just follow the simple steps described below:-

1.) Create a folder named “USB DRIVES” in any of windows partition (Desktop is the best option).

2.) Next create any number of subfolders inside the main folder “USB DRIVES” and give them proper names. Suppose you want to mount two of your USB drives, so it advisable to create two subfolders with the exact name of your USB drives.

3.) Press Win+R to open the Run window or alternatively go to Start->Run.

4.) Type in the location field diskmgmt.msc and hit enter to open Disk Management.

5.) Select your USB drive, right click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Paths… from the menu.

6.) Click on the Add button, select Mount into the following empty NTFS folder and click on browse. Now navigate to the subfolder that you want to assign the USB drive to and confirm the process.

That’s it you are done.

From now on, the USB drive will be accessible from the folder “USB DRIVES” as well when it is connected to the computer.

Hope you liked the tutorial. Any feedback is whole heartedly appreciated.

P.S. - When moving data around the mounted USB in folders setup will completely move the data, not copy it to your USB device. Make sure to copy and paste if you want source data to remain on your PC.
