What can Worm Castings do for your Basil Plants? You may be surprised to learn actually how much benefit worm castings are.

Worm Castings will add more flavor to your Basil, and other vegetables because of the nutrients available to your plants. Your plants will typically you grow 30 to 200% faster, be a healthier more vibrant plant, and get off to a great start.  Yes, worm castings almost guarantee a healthy growing plant’s survival.

How much Worm Castings should you apply to a plant in a container?  For a gallon size container, you will want to use 1/4 cup once a month.

You can stretch out your Worm Castings and make them very long lasting by making a Worm Casting Tea and using the Worm Casting Tea each time you water your plants. Tip: catch the water under the pot as it drains and apply to either another plant, to your garden or lawn.

Here is a Worm Casting Tea recipe that I have found my Basils love!

Worm Casting Tea

1 tablespoon Molasses
1/2 cup Worm Castings
1 gallon cool water

Directions

Place all the ingredients in an airtight container and store in a cool dark area over night or up to 2 days.  Before watering your plants, stir and then water as you usually do.  If the Worm Castings settle, just stir them up.  After you have used all the water and there are some Worm Castings remaining in the bottom of your water container. You can either make more Worm Casting Tea, or you can swish some water and pour in your potted plant.
