World class artist Bruce Cohen was referred to be for the building of his website. His art is featured on many gallery websites, but he lacked one of his own to showcase his work. I helped Bruce make a elegant online archive of his past paintings. When the site was complete Bruce asked me to make him an announcement postcard for mailing and a business card.

Bruce wished for visitors to explore the site but not get to overwhelmed by large slideshows. We organized the work by decade and I helped Bruce edit the selection of work for each.

The entire site uses xhtml, css and php to create the page templates, sharing consistent elements across all the pages helps speed up the loading of these large images.

When the site was completed Bruce wanted to announce his website to people that have purchased his work over the years. Bruce gave me some ideas for the layout and I worked up a few to choose from. I managed the sourcing and print production of the project too. While we were making the postcard Bruce decided he would like to have a business card as well to hand people in person. We made a minimal card in matching colors to the website and printed a low run in case he never uses them.

New York designer Brenda Abbandandolo wanted to make a sleek portfolio to showcase her recent work. I worked with her to develop the idea for the site and produced a lovely site with automatic slideshows built to Brenda’s dream specifications.

I used php and the jQuery library to create a reusable template and slide show system. The pages can be easily reused to make new sections or slide shows as her portfolio grows. Brenda’s site is a custom standout among a sea of template portfolios in this competitive modern job market.

I worked with Aaron and the gallery to make this over-sized poster that also worked as a schedule of events. One of the challenges was to include 31 filmmakers’ names on the front of the poster. We went through many revisions to discover a playful type explosion!

The back side of the poster because a large grid of information that could be folded up and still be useful. We were able to organize all the descriptions and photos into a great resource and archive piece.

The Kadillac Tattoo website was built so that it would be easy to update and simply reflect the shops style and attitude. I like Kadillac tattoo because they uphold the history and traditions of tattooing. All the artists there are first class, working hard on custom work, but also welcome the walk in customer.

With all the great art to showcase, we went with a simple blue on blue background and a nice gold to highlight the links.

The site is built using a content management system. This allows the owner and artists at the shop to  add blog posts and edit the images in their individual slide show galleries.

I first developed the website for Roberts & Tilton art gallery in 2003. When it began, the site was just a couple of pages with a few past exhibitions with single images, all done in html. Since then, the gallery has grown and moved to a larger space and so has their website. I have redesigned the site 3 times, each time working with the gallery to improve not only the presentation but the work flow for site updates.

I have also trained the staff on how to make basic updates and use the program Dreamweaver. They are now able to make crucial edits to pages when needed but still work with me to make any major updates.

The site now features slideshows, press releases, video and some shopping. The site has proven to be a great promotional and educational resource for the gallery and the artists.

My good friend, Justin Kovalsky, asked me to make a poster invite for his wedding. I came up with the concept and worked with the couple to make it look good and meet a budget.  The invitations were silkscreen printed and mailed in a tube with a small RSVP card.

I chose a space theme because I thought it was a good symbol for exploring new worlds.

Los Angeles real estate agent, Ron Deutsch, was working on advertising a very special property in the West Los Angeles area and wanted to make a brochure site to showcase the home’s features. Since the website was only a few pages Ron wanted to go with a more print design look and use elements of the house to connect the look to the property.

I used CSS to create a flexible layouts but still use common elements across the site. I set up a PHP/XML slideshow that Ron could easily edit by uploading images to a folder and adding captions to an externally loaded text file.

As we built the site they wanted to add a street map that could be accessible on all of the site’s pages, I used a javascript pop up window to solve this problem. I used the same pop up code to include a video on the property that was made later.

I was asked to come up with a good favor for this big party. Weasel loves the Yankees and going to the games, so I thought a stadium cup would be a playful and reasonably priced item to give away. The amount of text they wanted on the cup led me to this fun, square-block design. I found a promotion company that specialized in cups and handled the production quickly. The entire job was wrapped up in two weeks.

Los Angeles real estate agent, Stephen Sigoloff, was interested in making a website made to showcase his amazing listings. He loved the website of his friend Marc Selwyn, a site I redesigned and produced a little over a year ago. Marc sent Stephen my way with a glowing recommendation and we got started right away. Stephen had some basic ideas for the site, but really wanted to use this illustration of one of the homes he is selling on the homepage.

We pulled colors and some design queues from illustration and worked out an easy to navigate, bold website. We included biography information on Stephen and a special property search Stephen worked on to filter properties he approves of.

Stephen’s listings vary from your standard sell, using just a few images of the location or advertise it, to more in depth surveys of the property, using extensive photography and text descriptions. I created 3 templates for the different style of listings so we could easily add new properties to the site.
