Well the regular season has come and gone. Crazy. Once again the BCS has proven to be lame. And just for the record its not just because Oklahoma got hosed in the BCS. I we would have won… well… we would have one. But the Aggies? really? What is this 2011? I thought we got rid of those people. Ugh.

In other week 14 news… Look at Baylor pulling the upset over Okie Lite. And even though it wasnt a top 25 match up, Tulsa won the CUSA championship. Its a good time to be from Oklahoma.

Nebraska got humiliated. Boise St squeaked out a horrible win. Georgia should have won. and the ACC is not a good conference… but rumor has it Florida State is bolting. Texas still sucks. I hope Mack Brown stays there for a loooonnng time.

Currently I’m down 2 in my bet with Jon Cook, so it’s time to make up some ground. It’s championship weekend for a bunch of teams. Can Georgia upset Bama? Or what about UCLA and Stanford? To be honest, most of the other Championship games are pretty lopsided. AND if Texas upsets K STate and Kent St wins… Kent State will be the worst team to ever play in a BCS bowl game, and probably against Oklahoma. SO what are we looking at here…

This is just a place for us to interact with scripture. It’s not really about anything else. As you read the passages ask questions–not questions you already know the answer to, but behind the scenes question. Write down your thoughts. Just let the text speak and let us listen. Post your questions below so we can all be challenged to think about the scripture.

Mark 2:13-21

Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the “sinners” and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”

Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.

“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins.”

Speaking of rivalries… this is the big week. Oregon vs State, Oklahoma vs State, Georgia vs Tech, Alabama vs Auburn, Florida vs State, SC vs Clemson, Michigan vs Ohio State, Virginia vs Tech, Missisoisiosippspsipsipsi State vs Ole Miss. It’s safe to say it rivalry week.

And just so everyone knows. The Oklahoma v Oklahoma State “rivalry” is the most lopsided rivalry in college football. Oklahoma State could when every year between now and when I die and Oklahoma would still lead the series.

We’re headed for home folks! Things are starting to shape up around the BCS. Even with a Bama loss, we can all still hope for a little BCS chaos. K State, Oregon, and ND should all go undefeated. That will leave poor ole ND out of the championship talks. Too bad ND. Maybe if you had been relevant for the past decade people would like you. But no… you’re a gold version of Boise State.

And let’s take a moment to poor a heap of shame on the SEC. If they really are the best conference, why are they all scheduling pansy teams this late in the season. Shame on you Bama for scheduling West Carolina. Where are the West Carolinas? And FLorida plays Jacksonville St? Aggies play Sam Houston? Georgia plays Georgia South? LSU plays Ole Miss? South Carolina plast whatever a Wofford is. All you SEC peeps should be embarrassed.

Speaking of the SEC, I do think it is very amusing that middle of the road Big 12 team (AM) handled Bama just fine. And did you hear Saban is appealing the NCAA to make the hurry up offense against the rules? Saban… you sound like Mack Brown.

Even without any SEC games this weekend, there is still some good football to watch. Oklahoma v W Virginia should be a good one. UCLA and USC… Oregon and Stanford. Okie Lite v TT. And not that you shoud watch it, but Utah St will upset LA Tech.

Mark 2:1-12

A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . . .” He said to the paralytic, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
