First Haul for 2012

I've been holding back from purchasing beauty related items for the past couple and months and I do feel like I haven't had a haul for a while. I just wanted to go through most of the products that I already have before I hop on to new beauty finds.

I don't want to waste all the makeup and skin care products that I already have. I've also de-stashed my makeup and sold some through my Blog Sale. I don't want my makeup to reach their expiry before I even get to finish them.

As much as I want to fill my drawers with makeup, I'd rather just keep it to a minimal and limit it to what fits in my train case. That way, hitting the pan won't seem impossible. ^_^

Valentine's Day Look Part 3

The finished Look

I just used 3 colors on my lids, silver on the inner half, gray on the outer half and matte light brown just above the crease area in order to blend the shadows. I used a dark gray shadow on my lower lashes for more definition.

I lined my upper lash line as thinly as possible so that the eyeshadow would show. This is just a really soft peachy pink look, that can be worn all day. It's perfect if you're going straight to a dinner date after you get off from work. ^_^

REVIEW: Korres Face Primer

I've long been searching for a good face primer to try and luckily I found the Korres Face Primer in one Pammy's Blog Sale, so I bought it without having second thoughts. I've used this face primer both on myself and my clients and it's such an awesome product.

What I like about it...

* it feels really light, like a lightweight water-based moisturizer

* has a very mild citrus scent, which I find refreshing

* non-greasy yet very moisturizing, so I usually skip my moisturizer if I use this

* my face seemed smoother and more even after applying

* makes larger pores appear smaller

* kept my makeup looking fresh all day, I work for 9 hours in an office environment.

* made my makeup last longer

* it prevented my foundation from settling into fine lines

* I love the fact that it's a non-silicone based primer

* mineral oil free, which means it won't clog your pores

* didn't experience allergies or irritation

* very simple yet effective squeeze type tube packaging

What I don't like...

* expensive

* not available locally

My rating: 4.5 / 5

I have normal skin and I find that this really works well on me. I've also used the Korres Face Primer on Combination to Oily skin type individuals and it still works great but the makeup lasts longer on normal to dry skin types. I know this primer is rather expensive but you can definitely get your money's worth.

I'd buy the bigger tube if I can afford it...LOL! I'd highly recommend this face primer to everyone. This should be perfect for ladies with sensitive skin it's Silicone free, Paraben free, Mineral Oil free, Propylene Glycol free, and Ethanolamine free. And it's also Ecocert Certified!

I first applied the olive green eyeshadow from my loreal quad in landscape palette and just applied the moss green eyeshadow from my elf quad in luxe in the outer corner of my eyes bringing it up towards the crease area. I just blended it to remove harsh edges, then applied a matte white eyeshadow on my brow bone area. I applied the lightest color from my elf quad in luxe palette on the inner corners to brighten my eye.

I just added false eyelashes in order to add more drama the eyes. I decided to tie my hair and made a side bun since I'm going for a more classy look.

REVIEW: ELF Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance

I've tried several ELF products already especially those on the Essentials line simply because they're just a dollar each. I just happen to pick up the ELF Healthy Bronzing Powder in Luminance a few months ago because I needed a good highlighter. So here's my thoughts on this.

Sun Kissed, Warm Tan, Luminance, Matte Bronze

Even though the packaging says Bronzing Powder, I just thought this shade was too light and would probably make a good illuminator and I was right.

What I like about it...

* inexpensive

* an awesome all over illuminator, can be used on face and body

* made from very fine powder

* easy to blend

* gives out a natural glow, it's not too shimmery

* perfect for day or night use
* decent staying power, I use a cream highlighter as base so that it will last longer

* no allergies or irritation experienced

* can be bought locally on elf counters (bought mine at Metro Ayala Cebu)

What I don't like about it...

* can't think of any, it is definitely worth it considering the price.

My Rating: 4 / 5

Would I repurchase? Maybe. But this compact has more product so it will probably take a long time before I hit the pan on this one. I'm still on the look out for good highlighters or illuminators without going over budget. I'd definitely recommend this!

MAC Cosmetics Cebu Grand Opening

REVIEW: Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Foundation

I've been wanting to make a review on this particular foundation for a while now, but I just had to use it more. I already finished using two shades of the Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Foundation, one is in Sand Beige and the other one is in Honey. So, here's what I think about this product.

What I like about it...

* inexpensive, I like the fact that it has refills.
* no strong scent
* cute pink packaging, it's very light too.
* the size is about the size of your palm, so the mirror is bigger
* the texture is very soft and fine, but not chalky
* blends out easily
* doesn't feel heavy on face, it's breathable and lightweight
* very good coverage, evens out my skin really well
* stays long, it started to fade after 5 hours (note that I work on an air-conditioned office)
* it doesn't cake even when I sweat under the heat of the sun
* has SPF 25 with PA++
* no irritation, allergies or breakouts experienced

What I don't like...

* the pressed powder is very brittle so I have to be very careful. It fell once, and the powder started to crack and it has been falling one by one so I emptied out the product too soon.
* this is for dry use only, it is not the same as a two-way cake

My rating: 4 / 5

I think this is a good powder foundation considering the really affordable price. The refills are a definitely a plus. I like the over all packaging of this foundation, especially the size of the mirror and sponge that came with it. It is especially formulated for oily skin individuals so it really does a good job with keeping your oils at bay. I would definitely recommend this. I hope it works well for you like it did for me.

I've recently been learning hairstyling from books and videos so that I can do both hair and makeup for my clients. I've tried a couple of hairsprays in the process and I found one that I really love.

I will definitely repurchase this but this time around I will buy the Extra Hold variant. I just really love the smell of this hairspray, it doesn't even smell like one. Since the holidays are coming, I'm sure you're looking for a good hairspray. I would recommend for you ladies to give this a try.

You can opt to use dramatic false eyelashes to accentuate your eyes. I used a matte brown shade above the crease area and on the lower lash line just below the black eyeshadow, in order to soften the look a bit. It also makes it much easier to blend your black eyeshadow and not end up looking like "Black Eye".

I really love this shade, too bad I forgot to ask the name of polish I used. I had my nails done a couple of days ago and silly me didn't pay attention to the brand and name of the polish I chose...LOL

I will definitely look for something very similar to this color. I love that it's really easy on the eye and it's something that's not common.

I've been using this facial scrub for a couple of months now and I have nothing to say but good things about this stuff. So here's what I think about this facial scrub.

* very fine beads, I use this everyday and it didn't irritate my skin

* really removes dry patches on my face since I have dry skin

* I love that it has vitamin E in it and that it does not have parabens

What I don't like...

* I can't think of any, I absolutely love this stuff.

This is way better than the Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub I've tried from St. Ives before. I just love that it's something that I can use on a daily basis. I have dry and sensitive skin and this definitely works for me. I highly recommend to give this a try. It's an amazing product considering the very affordable price.

I used all brown shades on my eye including the upper and lower lash line eyeliner. I used 3 shades of brown for the eye makeup and a little bit of shimmery white on the inner corner. I used a matte white eyeshadow on my brow bone area. I just mixed two shades of lipstick to get my desired lip color.

This would make a good day time makeup look. You can wear this to work too, if you're comfortable with it.

I will make this short and quick. The photo says it all. LOL

I recently read "Makeup Makeovers" by Robert Jones and I just had to try for myself the techniques on how to create a 3D type flawless face by Highlighting and Contouring.

I used 3 shades of foundation and 3 shades of setting powder in order to get this result. I know, no one has the time to do this everyday. But it really is very useful for special occasions when you have all the time in the world to make yourself pretty.

Let me know if you want to learn how to highlight and contour and I will gladly post a tutorial for you.

REVIEW: Garnier Light Milky Lightening Dew

I've been using this for over a month now and I've been really loving it so far. So here's my two cents about this product.

How is it any different from other toners? Its fresh milky formula is enriched with pure lemon essence to help remove dead skin cells. Your skin is smoother, lighter, softer and skin complexion is more even.

What I like about it...

* inexpensive

* really mild lemon scent

* does not sting at all, unlike most toners I've tried

* cleans makeup residue effectively

* after a month of usage, I really noticed the pigmentation on my skin really lightened

* really does lighten effectively especially on my chin area where it's slightly darker than the rest of my face

* my complexion became a little bit even

* does not leave my skin dry

* very moisturizing, I usually skip the moisturizer after using this

* my face feels smoother and softer

* did not experience, irritation, allergies or breakouts

What I don't like...

* does not dry up pimples like stronger toners do

My rating: 5 / 5

Overall, it's the best toner I've tried so far. For some reason, Garnier Products just seem to really work well for my skin. I'm planning on really sticking to this toner so I'll definitely repurchase it. Would I recommend it? Yes, it's mild and works like a charm. You girls should try it and let me know what you think.

Current Skin Care Routine

Ever since I had a bad breakout last summer, I've been really keen on choosing skin care products for my face and neck. I simply wanted to share with you what products have been working well for me.

These are the products that have helped my skin be pimple free.

Products that I use everyday

Etude House Lip & Eye Makeup Remover

Mary Kay Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser

St. Ives Timeless Skin Daily Microdermabrasion

Garnier Light Milky Lightening Dew

Since I wear makeup regularly, I use the Etude House Lip & Eye Makeup Remover to remove my eye makeup especially the eyeliner and mascara. Then followed by the Mary Kay Facial Cleanser to completely remove all my makeup including foundation.

I use the St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion once a day, usually in the morning or before going to work. I don't use the Mary Kay Facial Cleanser prior to applying the St. Ives Daily Microdermabrasion, since I feel that would be too harsh on my skin.

Lastly, I apply the Garnier Light Milkly Lightening Dew on my face and neck as a toner. I find this really mild and moisturizing, so I skip on applying moisturizer before putting on my makeup. Also, prior to putting on my makeup, I sometimes apply my Block & White Sunblock with SPF 50 to my face and neck especially if it's hot outside. (forgot to include it in the photo)

Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Every time I have bumps or pimples on my face, I use the Skin White Facial Cleanser (toner) to help dry it up. So far, this has worked for me. Also, if I use a full coverage liquid foundation I make sure to use this instead of my Garnier Milkly Lightening Dew because, this product removes the foundation residue better.

I seldom use the Celeteque Facial Moisturizer now, since my face already feels moisturized after having used the Garnier Milky Lightening Dew, so I only use this when needed.

I use the Human Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil as a facial moisturizer only on times where my face is really dry. But it can actually be used as a deodorant, hair polish and even heal burns.

I only use the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque once a week just to let it sip out the oils on my face. Especially during the weekend when I just wanna relax because this gives out a minty tingling sensation. I feel that this really helps tighten my skin, thus giving me that fresh youthful glow. I apply the Human Nature Beauty Oil after I use this masque because it can be very drying.

By the way, I also take Vitamin E and Vitamin C regularly.
