I thought I had a well oiled machine in one of my websites and so I only check in out it every once in a while. Today when I checked on it, it was totally down! The website is there, but the content was completely missing. So now here I am scrambling to recover that site. Here's to "that kind of day" which will be my day today! :) Awesome!

As quick as it came it's gone again

This blog that is! I know I had talked of resurrecting this blog, but instead I have decided to start a new blog with a certain niche. This blog was well... random! I'm ready to be focused and have a topic! So my new blog is called Making of a Mom. I now have two kids, one in school and I'm becoming a real mom! Therefore blogging about mom things seems fitting and interesting!! I hope you will come check out my new blog and stay for a while. I'm sure every once in a while a random post will slip in as well as making money from blogging and all those other good topics discussed here! Thanks for reading and I hope you'll join my next chapter at Making of a Mom.

With a new year, comes resolutions

This blog used to be hoppin'. I used to have a good time with my husband updating this thing, with awesome facts and funny tidbits, the "the trip" happened. We went to Germany for 16 days and when we came back google had decided that this blog was not as awesome as we had built it up to be and killed it! But as I mentioned in the titled, it is a new year and it is resolution time. I would like to be able to blog again, somewhat anonymously, give my opinions, and hear some of yours. So here we go! Here is to a new year and a new chance at life for Random Encounters of We!!

Health Care Blah

I will admit that I do not know all about the bill, all the details and everything that will come from it. What I have gathered is that there are a couple good aspect of this bill such as young adults who need to be on their parents insurance can stay until they are 26 now (but come of people, grow up, get out of the house and stand on your own two feet!) and that children with pre-existing conditions will now be kicked off their parents insurance. Now I fill like the news was a little misleading with this one because I thought it was for everyone with pre-existing conditions, but just found out a couple days ago it was just children. But mostly this is a nasty, huge bill that threatens to ruin us! Too much money! We can't afford this. And I really like my insurance, it is a little expensive, but this bill isn't going to lower the cost. It's going to get even more expensive. I'm not sure why such a crappy bill was passed. What did the senators, congressmen and Obama administration get out of passing such an awful bill that does more harm that good. Plus we are a democracy of majority, the majority of AMERICANS didn't want it, therefore it shouldn't have passed. I don't think you should sacrifice the happy majority to please an unhappy minority. Blah!
So in order to reach more people and be as successful as I can be, I would love to invite anyone interested to order an I Spy Bag through my email. If you have seen an I Spy Bag on the store site (thepurseplace.etsy.com) that you would like please email me the description and I can sell it over email. If there isn't one on the site you like but would still like to order one please email me. I have a lot of really cute fabric that is in the process of becoming an I Spy Bag, they just aren't finished. I am preparing for this busy holiday shopping weekend and for Cyber Monday. If you would like to specify that the I spy bag is for a girl or boy so the choice of fabric is appropriate that would be great! Please send your email orders to purseplace.etsy at gmail.com (email broken up to discourage spammers) Also, please feel free to tell your friends, family and anyone you think would be interested!

Gay Marriage Vote Looms in Maine; Polls Show It's Close

It is time to get out and vote again to defend marriage. This time it is happening in Maine. Stand for Marriage Maine! This is a paragraph taken from one of the articles that sickens me:

Gay Marriage Vote Looms in Maine; Polls Show It's Close: "'If they can win in Maine, it would be historic,' warned Marc Mutty, chairman of the Stand for Marriage Maine campaign, in a recent fund-raising letter. 'They will use a victory to attempt to convince the media that the mood of the nation has changed and that it is time for America to also abandon the God-created idea of marriage.'"

This country is already gone so far out from being a God centered country. This country was founded on God and succeeds only through help from God. As this country and its leaders get further and further from God so shall the success of this nation. If you are from Maine or know people in Maine call them up, go support marriage and show the rest of this country and the world that we still believe and rely on God and His ways! Defend marriage and family!

Open for Business

Hey Friends! I have decided to start a new project. The project is an Etsy store in which I will be selling (hopefully) my bags I have been making. I love to work on the bags. Every night after the kids are in bed I head downstairs. I have been having blast. I have a goal to sell a couple bags every month and bring in a little bit of money to help with bills. The name of our store is The Purse Place and can be found at thepurseplace.etsy.com. The key to our success is promotion so that's why I wanted to share with everyone on the blog! The widget in the sidebar will update as we add inventory. Please feel free to tell your friends about it! The bags are really cute, they would make great gifts! Thanks for your support as we step into this new world of entrepreneurship!

Defunding ACORN

Today the house voted to defund ACORN. This is the article from yahoo news. Jon and Kate plus 8 (at our house it is now referred to as Jon OR Kate plus 8) Anyhoo, I'm sick of these two playing the martyr and saying that everything they are doing it for their kids. PLEASE! Spare me! Going on a book tour and leaving your kids with babysitters isn't what's best for your kids. Cheating on your wife isn't best for your kids. Staying on a TV show that is destroying your family because you want to make tons of money isn't best for your kids. Why not try some counseling?

I'm also annoyed and find it humurous at the same time that their egos are so big to think that the paparazzi will also follow them forever. If they were to cancel their show after a season or two people would be like "Jon and Kate who??" The entertainment world is a fickle world. Out of sight, out of mind. They are pretend celebrities anyway. Jon not being able to be "Jon [he] has to be Jon and Kate plus 8" wouldn't always be. they would be forgotten quickly, because TLC would have to replace them with something else. However, now that they are getting divorced the poor kids will inevitably be messed up from this and their fake child stardom and wind up on some version of "where are they now?"

I'm very disappointed that TLC is condoning their awful behavior by continuing on with the show. When they canceled their marriage they should have canceled the show. Shame on you Jon and Kate!

Technorati tags: Jon and Kate+8, Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin, Divorce

Jewelry Update

Ok so I posted about that jewelry website where you can get sterling silver pieces for free (but really with $6.99 for shipping) Well I found one piece that I thought was pretty unique and I ordered it. It arrived about a week or so later and it is beautiful! I am now a full fledged supporter of the site and can say that they will not take your almost seven dollars and run with it! :) Also, if you don't have a silver chain the sport your new pendant with you can purchase one of those for $4. Pretty good deal. I already had a chain so for now I can't vouch for those.

I would like to think of myself as a jewelry wearer, but I'm not. Besides the wedding ring I don't usually wear jewelry, but this doesn't stop me from purchasing it. When I remember I will throw something on for church or for a party, but as soon as I walk in the door it immediately comes off. I'm not sure why it bugs me so much, I wish it didn't. Mostly these talks are referring to how tax payers money is getting spent by the stimulus and such. I am frustrated by these reports because a lot of these things MY MONEY is getting spent on are useless (in my opinion of course). On top of this there is NOTHING I can do about this. If I want a say in my money going places I have to vote, well I do vote, but the people that win are usually corrupt government officials that don't have my best interest at heart at all. The biggest corruption of all is the highest position in the USA, so for the next 4 years we are pretty much toast with what he does with my hard earned tax payer money. Get ready for an awful bumpy ride folks!

California Upholds Gay Marriage Ban!

Good job California. Just when I thought you were a big waste of space and a breeding ground for evil you come through and conquer this battle (for now). The article I read about was here on yahoo news. I was feeling very nervous for the people of California, but I am so relieved that the Supreme Court realized that regardless of their own opinions, the voters have spoken and they wanted marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Hopefully this move by California will show other states contemplating gay marriage to stop. Although the gay marriage ban holds they also decided to let the 18,000+ gay couples who got married while it was legal to remain married. This makes no sense. If the legal definition in California of marriage is one man and one woman then those marriages are invalid, but whatever. I'll take the bigger victory. Of course gay rights activists will take up this fight once more and try to get it on the ballot again and again until they get their way. I believe they eventually will get their way, but now goodness has won over evil and gay marriage is banned!

A Colombine Father's Speech

I received this in email format. Be it real or fake, the message it provides is still relevant and important and I believe it and want to share it!

[THIS IS COPIED FROM A CHAT BOARD]

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel
Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School
shootings in Littleton , Colorado , was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's
subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this
special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It
needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every
psychologist, and every so-called expert!
These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful,
penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent
this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a
portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good &
evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the
seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my
wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven
children who died must not be in vain.
Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The
villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true
killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be
pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even
own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are
responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore
I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they
had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not
just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame
lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing
fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem
just four nights ago that expresses my feelings
best.

Your
laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty
air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple
prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious
children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the
question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through
legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is
what we need!

" Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to
acknowledge a third part of our make-up,
we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual
presences were present within our educational
systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological
seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor
God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as
Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They
immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and
private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped
by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of
massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.
"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before
his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that
right!
I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999,
at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered
by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for
legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would
point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart
before casting the first stone!

My daughter's death will not be in vain! The
young people of this country will not allow that to
happen!"

Free* Jewelery Site

This morning a yahoo news article was about tips on getting things for free. I read through the article not very impressed with anything. Most of the sites were like freecycle where you just trade with other people or give stuff away for free because you hope to find someone that has something you want for free. Then towards the bottom of this article it mentioned the Silver Jewelery Club. When you go to this website they have 4 pieces of silver jewelery up with a timer on it and you can order these pieces for free. Now free really means you pay $6.99 for shipping, but besides that you don't pay for the actual piece of jewelery. The reason they are basically giving these pieces away is to spread the word about this site and the club because they are new. I think it is a great promotion. I put up a ticket on my side bar that will flash current pieces they are selling if you are interested you can click on that banner and it will take you there, or click on the link in this post to visit their site. I'm pretty excited! I'm going to pick a favorite piece and order it and I'll let you know how it all goes!! Enjoy!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I'm not sure the purpose of this holiday and there isn't much to do to celebrate but it is fun to have a holiday, big or not. My husband went off to work today forgetting what day it was so a few minutes later he comes walking in our room again. It took me by surprise. I asked him what he was doing home, and he was like I can't not be wearing green today! He has always been one to celebrate to the max every holiday no matter how small. I thought it was pretty funny. Hopefully you all remember to wear green and avoid getting a little pinch for someone!

Abstinence is VERY Realistic

Not too many exciting things happen in Kansas very often so frequently on our nightly news there are celebrity updates or high profile people stories. Recently they aired clips from Bristol Palin's interview in which she is supposedly an advocate for abstinence yet told the interviewer that abstinence is unrealistic. Well newsflash Bristol: Abstinence is very realistic and should be expected. Obviously I feel this way because of my religious views but far beyond that I think it is sick that everyone automatically gives up on the idea of abstinence without a true effort of promoting it. There is hope for young women living in this Sodom and Gommorah world to remain virgins until marriage. If a daughter is taught love for herself and womanhood, virtue, integrity, that she is a child of God, and nurtured by a mother and father I think abstinence is very likely. Often children rise to the expectations placed upon them. If your daughter knows that abstinence is expected until marriage, I think there will be an effort to achieve that. Now kids can make their choices and some will choose a different course than we would like, but with a lifetime of conversation, nurturing, explaining and loving it is possible to make it to marriage pure. Bristol Palin is definitely no role model for this home. I also fully expect to try my best to raise my children to know that abstinence before marriage is clearly the better choice and expected of them.

Technorati tags: Bristol Palin, Abstinence, , Sex, Children, Marriage

Tracking Santa

Well even though it is still daylight here for us in America, many kids around the world are sleeping, waiting for Santa to come. My daughter always points out the sound of the garbage truck as she eats her breakfast and I always go to a window to watch it do its work around our cul-de-sac. Today when I got to the window I noticed that a trash bag had fallen out of the garbage can he had just emptied into the truck. I was curious as to what he would do about this. There was also some other pieces of trash that had spilled on the ground. Now in California on trash day it wasn't unusual to have some garbage flying around the streets in the wind because the trash man had lost a couple pieces and hadn't bothered to pick it up. Here in Kansas, people seem to be more friendly and responsible of their actions. As I watched him, he jumped out of his truck and threw the bag in the truck. He then proceeded to pick up all the other trash around the area that had fallen out of the can and threw it all in the truck. Now, he knows that his job isn't glorious. Luckily the truck does most of the dirty work, but I really appreciated this sanitation worker who took the time to get out of the truck and pick up the trasah he spilled to help keep my street looking nice and clean!

Facts about Proposition 8 and LDS supporters

Mormons make up less than 2% of the population of California . There are approximately 800,000 LDS out of a total population of approximately 34 million.

Mormon voters were less than 5% of the yes vote. Every Yes on 8 claim is supported.

The majority of our friends and neighbors voted Yes on 8. Los Angeles County voted in favor of Yes on 8. Ventura County voted in favor of Yes on 8.

African Americans overwhelmingly supported Yes on 8. Exit polls show that 70% of Black voters chose Yes on 8. This was interesting because the majority of these voters voted for President-elect Obama. No on 8 supporters had assumed that Obama voters would vote No on 8.

The majority of Latino voters voted Yes on 8. Exit polls show that the majority of Latinos supported Yes on 8 and cited religious beliefs (assumed to be primarily Catholic).

The Yes on 8 coalition was a broad spectrum of religious organizations. Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox Jews, Muslims – all supported Yes on 8. It is estimated that there are 10 million Catholics and 10 million Protestants in California . Mormons were a tiny fraction of the population represented by Yes on 8 coalition members.

Not all Mormons voted in favor of Proposition 8. Our faith accords that each person be allowed to choose for him or her self. Church leaders have asked members to treat other members with "civility, respect and love," despite their differing views.

The Church did not violate the principal of separation of church and state. This principle is derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." The phrase "separation of church and state", which does not appear in the Constitution itself, is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, although it has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court in recent years. The LDS Church is under no obligation to refrain from participating in the political process, to the extent permitted by law. U.S. election law is very clear that Churches may not endorse candidates, but may support issues. The Church as always been very careful on this matter and occasionally (not often) chooses to support causes that it feels to be of a moral nature.

Supporters of Proposition 8 did exactly what the Constitution provides for all citizens: they exercised their First Amendment rights to speak out on an issue that concerned them, make contributions to a cause that they support, and then vote in the regular electoral process. For the most part, this seems to have been done in an open, fair, and civil way. Opponents of 8 have accused supporters of being bigots, liars, and worse. The fact is, we simply did what Americans do – we spoke up, we campaigned, and we voted.

It is sick that people are now protesting at places of worship for this church. It shows the lack of respect and tolerance they have towards people different from them. It also shows the level of their character. These people are despicable. They talk about being Christian and loving your neighbor and that's why we should have voted no on 8, but they sure don't practice what they preach. It's funny that they are holding up signs in protest that say stop the hate, when they themselves are in the process of practicing that same hate on a church. What hypocrites. If they do believe in Christianity then it is safe to say they will be held accountable for these actions one day. Good luck with that!

Technorati tags: Proposition 8, Prop 8 Protests, LDS Church, Marriage, Church

Congratulations and Well Done!

I would like to first say good job to Arizona and Florida for successfully passing a ban on gay marriage in their states. I think this was Arizona's second attempt at it so I'm glad it succeeded.

Good job California for standing up for what you believe and having your voices be heard. I updated this map all night long and felt confident for most of the night. The 52% win was a little close, but a win is a win. I know this is all about population but it makes my heart happy to see that most of the acreage of California supports traditional marriage. I'm glad that the county I come from also passed Prop. 8 with a resounding YES! I hope that we may all be able to live with respect for each other and others beliefs. I'm sure the fight isn't over, but for now we may live in peace and enjoy the God ordained definition of marriage. I wish nothing but the best for those that are struggling to accept this law. I hope the opposition can understand that we also were just fighting for what we believe in, and luckily this time the majority sided with us. Congratulations California!

Technorati tags: California, Proposition 8 results, Marriage, Family

Today is the Day

Today is the Day!!! Happy Voting Day! Be sure and get out to vote so that you know, no matter how the day ends, you at least had your voice and your opinion heard! Then you will know you tried your best to get what you want to happen in this country.

And of course one last plug from me about Proposition 8! Vote YES on Prop. 8. It is important to keep the traditional family as the basic, fundamental unit of society. If prop. 8 fails then homosexuality will be taught in schools. Our children will be indoctrinated with this garbage so that in later years all these gay liberalists will have the votes to pass their agendas which will surely throw this country in the toilet. It is important we teach in our homes to be respectful of all people, but that marriage is between one man and one woman, and nothing else is equal to that. That is how it has been for thousands of years and how it should continue. This may be the most important issue you vote on in your lifetime, so make the right choice, and make it count. Our children need you. Yes on Proposition 8.

Don't let the opposition intimidate you into believing their case. They are really good at preaching tolerance, yet not so good at practicing it. If they weren't so scared of losing this battle they wouldn't be keying cars, destroying and stealing signs, beating people up and all the other awful things they are doing. They, in fact, are scared. They know they are preaching lies on their side of the campaign. They know the Yes on 8 side is strong, and not backing down. Be strong. Don't be intimidated.
