A nihilistic vision of a probable future. A Shirow/Blade Runner one. A future where corporation wars, exoeskeleton robots and necrorounds are all over the place.

I had to rewrite part of this final page so it makes sense. The original version was something about not being able to reimplant the severed leg, so the guy was dumped, which is silly. I know why I did do it, but it just doesn’t work, particularly when they were talking about the cost of producing them, etc. So I changed it. Call me a revisionist. I don’t care.

I wonder about the validity of the science behind those necrorounds. Maybe that’s pure nonsense? Maybe that does exist already? Maybe I don’t care? Maybe I’ll dig up some other ancient stuff in the future?

I’ll tell you a secret: the particularly artsy look of this page wasn’t something I was deliberately looking for, it was the effect of using a cheapo brush and not entirely knowing how to use it.

So, there you have it. Next time you see a Mazzucchelli style inking by one of those artsy comic/webcomic artists you’ll have to wonder now if that was made on purpose or if it’s just the result of his/her inability. Don’t ask, though. You’ll be lied to.

The data displayed behind the girl were the solutions to a chess puzzle in a random paper. It was the closest I could find to nonsense data.

I cut them and pasted them on the page with a sub-optimal glue stick. I remember one of the strips falling off all the time.

I decided to keep some expressions in Spanish, having that character a Spanish name. I changed it so the bum also speaks that language, so all of it makes sense. And I find it somewhat funny. But I use to find weird things funny, anyway. The silly and a bit twisted, usually.

Now you can see why I’m using such an enormous size for the pages of this short story. Anything smaller would make the art to fade into a black blur and the text would become virtually illegible.
