How I solved programmatically updating window.location from a child element in a subroute using events and app-route

I was having trouble figureing out how to programaticlly change window.location 
from a nested child element. In my case I wanted to send up a uri from dropdown.  
The `select-item` property was bound to  `location`, and `location` had an 
observer `_updateLocation`.

I could have set `notify:true` on `location`, but then I would have to pass it 
up the chain. Instead I decided to use an event.

On the element that contians the `app-location` I set up a property called `location`
,it also has an `observer:'_updateLocation'` (these don't have to be named the same 
as on the child, it just worked out that way), . Finally I set up a listener for
`update-location-request`.

`this.debounce`

The `debounce` allows things to catch up. It is `debounce` that makes this all work. 
With out it when you use the back button things get wonky, when a subroute triggers 
load of the drop down on the way back in browser history `location` get changed 
mulitple times and `debounce` restores some sanity.

Here is a simple command that will take all current untracked files in your repo and append them to your .gitignore. It's not pretty or subtle, but it gets the job done.

Why do you want to start with requestAnimationFrame, instead of passing in a time value?

performance.now is not widely supported
Date.now() may not give you the same format as used by requestAnimationFrame. In fact most cases where requestAnimationFrame is natively supported it doesn't.
Starting your animation with it insures that it passes in the correct time format.

So use it.

Given, we are not a pure democracy; our founders created a system to balance the fluctuating will of the masses against the needs of the few. Underlying this is the assumption that a well educated and sufficiently knowledgeable populace can make meaningful decisions balancing liberty and security.

When the decisions are made out of the public square in absence of meaningful review, with no recourse, or way to remedy falsehood, and those who involved are gagged by fear. How can we do our job as citizens?

Part of the problem is the way we have chosen to talk about and deal with the acts that we currently call "terrorism"; something that I touched on in the blog post, Terrorism is a criminal act, and terrorist should be treated like the common criminals they are. We have elevate these acts as something abnormal, what we need to understand is that they aren't. They are acts that have taken place throughout humanities history. By elevating we give an excuse to those who would grab and consolidate power.

Eventually we need to address this on national level, how can we govern ourselves if we are not given the information needed to do so. We can handle the truth, we have to.

I find it amazing that we have incorporated that "knowledge" in the very stuff that we are made of, kind of like the biological "borg" of the hominid line. It's nice to know millions of years of evolution didn't just disappear when the main line of the Neanderthals faded/where hunted/exterminated/assimilated from existence.

This past week the S&P downgraded the USA credit rating from AAA to AA, this now puts us on the same footing as Spain. All in all it appears to me as part of generalized push to decapitalize and delegitimize government in general. To force the out sourcing of the key infrastructure projects to private corporate entities, much like is done in places like Nigeria, and Colombia. Whether it's the "Tea party" or not, sharks are in the water and instead of tossing our buckets overboard to lighten the load, we need to gather all hands and use them to bail ourselves out.

We all benefit when government is involved in maintaining things like access to water, electricity, roads, and basic health care. The History of this great nation is filled with examples of government subsidies going to private industry to create wealth. To think that private corporations, or even individuals have produced this wealth _ex nihilo_ with only their sweat is hubris. It is to forget that we all stand on the backs of those who have come before, and sometimes those who live now.

The success of this country has depended government spending on key infrastructure development; and yes humans are key parts of the infrastructure too. Private corporate entities may claim they can do this development cheaper. But lets take a look a Wal-mart, it can't maintain the health care of it's base work force nor pay them a wage that will keep them off of food stamps or housing assistance. This is while the heads of the company build private bunkers buried under ground. I would suggest, if you lift your head up and take a look around, Wal-mart is not the only company out there that depends on Government help to take care of it's workers so it can turn a profit.

De-capitalization of government is not in the interest of the common man. When we start to privatize essential services things rarely get better. We have privatized prisons in this country and now we have one of the largest if not the largest prison populations in the world. Guess what, these populations are being looked at as a new workforce. When there is profit to be made by imprisoning people, ways are found to increase profitability; we all become potential prisoners.

Remove trailing spaces using vim

This little function will remove trailing space and maintain your position in a file. I started with something like this.

I found that it left me at the bottom of my file, and I kept forgetting to mark my position before running it. After a little research I found this solution, it saves your positon and returns it to you after it's done.

Malcolm not only brought a sense of self respect to the african american community his vision reach out to the world. His story reminds us that the struggle for self determination begins with each of us, and extends to all of us. It is difficult, fraught with perils; but ultimately uplifting, and liberating. You may take roads best not followed, but when you raise your sights to the most high all things are possible. One can find a way.

The GYBO, which stands for "Gaza Youth Breaks Out". Parts of GYBO "Youth Manifesto" reminds me of stuff done by Pennywise
Especially when GYBO say:

The in the Qantara.de - "We Want Peace!" article the author talks about a sense of hopelessness. To me it sounds like a resoluteness. Remember the issue is not ultimately religion, nor land. It's Life. When we are silent in the face of that which squelches life; oppression, hate, war, we are culpable. Here is some high level thoughts on the web, and how to use it. These are good for organizations and individuals. I know I'm not adding to much the discussion but I think it's important enough to pass on. I work on the front lines of the web and don't often have the time to look out of the trenches and see what's coming done the pipe. When I do the principles and thoughts John Udell lays down ring true in my day to day work; as I try create the best value out of my work.

We are nothing if not a nation of rabble rouser's and miscreants. We just need to be occasionally reminded what it is that we attempting to rouser in the rabble, and why is it we are justified in breaking the laws.

What we have is a process, one that is working at refining the coarseness out of us; bringing the glow that comes from representing what is right, and good in our time and place. We have a lot of responsibility placed on our shoulders, and this is not the time shirk.

Apparently the US media is providing free publicity for a small group of misguided religious criminals that we have foolishly decided to declare war on. I heard that on sunday someone called for Americans to kill their neighbors, or some other such nonsense. I would not have even know about this if it wasn't reported.

With enemies like us they don't need allies. We probably provided them start up money, and now we are giving them a voice. We all need to stop paying attention to these people. Any one that commits or calls for others to murder or destroy property is a criminal and needs to be treated as such.

It's interesting to note that malnutrition will also cause the brain to develop poorly, so feeding the hungry is not the only answer. Niether is tending to the infirm the answer. It requires both to help us lift each other up.

This might also help to explain the why there was such an up lift along the nile. Nubians where dosing themselves with antibiotics using beer as far back as 1,700 years ago. It makes me wonder if other culture that fermented foods received a comparable boost.

My schools where pretty good, and had some decent teachers. Few did little to give a good historical perspective. Most taught the world outside of Europe wasn't important, and middle eastern culture was Islam. But that was consistent with the times.

The average US citizen is not known for their worldliness.

With the emulation of the factory, and the loss of the workshop as exemplar; the school systems have increasingly lost focus. May we regain focus, may we find a way to educate our children to be good thoughtful human beings.
