Huge drop of the ball on this one. I think with the amount of things coming out regarding the mental state of this individual its hard to believe he could get to the point of walking into a building and opening fire. Call it what you want but it is an act of terrorism. Was it order from bin Laden or a leader like that, no. But terrorism doesn't need to be ordered from an outside entity.

The act alone, committed by a Muslim man is not a terrorist act just because he is Muslim. It becomes a terrorist act when you learn about his contacts with a radical Muslim leader and his ideological beliefs.

The problem I have with this email is that everyone knows that these people listed are giving their own opinions. Its not as if these shows claim that they aren't opinion based. They aren't promoting these as if they were factual news stories. Anyone who has ever watched these shows knows what they are. Should that be the case? So many opinion based shows, probably not but I watch MSNBC and they certainly have the same types of shows, of course with the perspective more in line with Media Matters but I don't think either network is fooling anybody. Everybody knows that they talk about the news using their opinions.

In July, Glenn Beck infamously stated that he believes President Obama is "a racist" with a "deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." These comments played a major role in at least 80 advertisers dropping their support of Beck's television program. Numerous media outlets and personalities rebuked the comments, but Fox News gave Beck a free pass. Why?

Well, the reason is now clear: Rupert Murdoch, chairman of News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, agrees that President Obama is a racist. This is a new low even for Fox, and one we cannot let stand.

Since Murdoch refuses to rebuke Glenn Beck - we need to hold him accountable and demand that he apologize for his own hateful remarks.

In an interview with Sky News Australia, Murdoch said of Beck's notorious comment:

On the racist thing, that caused a [unintelligible]. But he did make a very racist comment, about, you know, blacks and whites and so on, and which he said in his campaign he would be completely above. And, you know, that was something which perhaps shouldn't have been said about the president, but if you actually assess what he was talking about, he was right.

A Fox News host calls the President of the United States a racist, and his boss, rather than suspending or publicly rebuking him, says that his employee "was right." Unfortunately, this type of race-baiting is par for the course for Fox News. As we recently documented, Fox News president Roger Ailes spent the better part of his career working as a Republican media consultant, during which time he became known for appealing to racial fears and biases for political gain. Under Ailes' leadership Fox News routinely employs these same tactics in its ongoing campaign to destroy the Obama administration and the progressive agenda. Examples include:

Hannity just can't "get over" his Rev. Wright obsession. Sean Hannity -- who claimed he "broke the story" about Obama's controversial former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, during the 2008 campaign -- mentioned Wright on at least 45 different episodes of his Fox News show between Obama's inauguration and July 31.

O'Reilly tease: "[S]hould white Americans be concerned about Judge Sotomayor?" Bill O'Reilly stated, "Next on the rundown: Should white Americans be concerned about Judge Sotomayor? Later, far-left Hispanic group says if you oppose the judge, you could be racist." [The O'Reilly Factor, 7/13/09].

Rev. Peterson: Obama was elected "mostly by black racists and white guilty people." On Hannity, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson said, "I think we all agree that Barack Obama was elected by, mostly by black racists and white guilty people." [Hannity, 2/3/09].

Murdoch's comments are simply the latest example of Fox News shredding the last vestiges of its credibility. Fox News is not a news organization; it is an official arm of the GOP,openly advocating against President Obama and the progressive agenda. As the cable network has shown repeatedly, no tactics are too sleazy to further its goal of damagingprogressives. Murdoch has now given his stamp of approval to the idea that the president of the United States is "a racist."

Political parties are like watching TV when you get bored you change the channel. This is very common occurrence. People don't understand how the Federal government works and think every problem in the country is governments problem. Ultimately it is your responsibilty to take care of yourself. There is no American ego here. But there is a large amount of people who like to do things just because everyone else is doing them and that is just as bothersome.

There is a big processed food business because there is big demand for it. You don't expect your car insurance to keep your car running do you? No it is for accidents. You can't expect your insurance to keep you healthy. I don't know what these procedures are that the middle class can't afford but I have yet to have one that I can't afford. What you want is the government to take care of people because they are too stupid to do it themselves. Unless you are an idiot you know that you don't need to eat McDonalds no matter how much money they use for advertising.

Preventive care is what we need but the best and most efective preventive care is what YOU do. You don't put the cigarette in your mouth and you don't eat the fatty foods. The government always has other motives when they claim its for your good. There are only 12 million people who can't truly afford health insurance, so why is the government trying to paint a picture that health insurance is so expensive?

We aren't going to see eye to eye on this. I expect people to be able to be free and make there own desicions within a free market. You expect the government to make desicions for people who are too dumb to do it on their own and have no market and government control of everything, a European wonderland where their is no free will and people are told what to do but there are no corporations and everything is cheap because the government owns it.

LAHORE, Pakistan (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's said on Thursday it was "hard to believe" that no one in Pakistan's government knew where al Qaeda leaders were hiding, striking a new tone on a trip where Washington's credibility has come under attack.

Scores of al Qaeda leaders and their operatives, including Osama bin Laden, are believed to be in hiding in the rugged border territory that divides Pakistan and Afghanistan, but both countries routinely accuse the other of being the main sanctuary

"I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn't get them if they really wanted to," she told a group of newspaper editors during a meeting in Lahore.

"Maybe they are not 'get-at-able'. I don't know," she said.

Clinton's pointed remark was the first public gripe on a trip aimed at turning around a U.S.-Pakistan relationship under serious strain, but bound in the struggle against religious extremism.

"I am more than willing to hear every complaint about the United States," Clinton said, ""but this is a two way street.

"If we are going to have a mature partnership where we work together" then "there are issues that not just the United States but others have with your government and with your military security establishment."

Clinton, who has sought to use her own personal outreach to overcome rising anti-American sentiment in Pakistan, earlier repeated her conviction that the two countries' common interests far outweighed their differences.

"I am well aware that there is a trust deficit," Clinton told students at a "townhall-style" meeting at Government College University in Lahore.

"My message is that's not the way it should be. We cannot let a minority of people in both countries determine our relationship."

Clinton's arrival in Pakistan on Wednesday was overshadowed by a car bomb blast that ripped through a market in the city of Peshawar, killing more than 100 people, in one of the largest recent attacks by Islamic militants seeking to destabilize the nuclear-armed country.

Clinton urged Pakistan's youth to stand firm against the forces of religious extremism, saying it threatened everything that both Americans and Pakistanis hold dear.

She carried the same message in her meetings with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and other high officials in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Clinton was due to meet Pakistan's army and security chiefs on Thursday, where she was expected to discuss Pakistan's latest military campaign against extremists in South Waziristan as well as the U.S.-led war against Taliban religious militants in neighboring Afghanistan.

PERSONAL AFFINITY

U.S. officials have cast Clinton's visit to Pakistan as a chance to counter anti-American broadsides from extremist religious leaders and to showcase Clinton's personal affinity for a country she says she knows and loves deeply.

On Thursday, she toured the massive red sandstone Badshahi Mosque in central Lahore, extolling the cultural achievements of a country more often in the headlines for political and religious strife.

But the tense security situation in Pakistan was clear. Gunmen stood guard in the mosque minarets, while Lahore's normally busy main streets were emptied and armed police kept bystanders penned back in narrow alleyways as Clinton's motorcade sped past.

While acknowledging the many bumps in U.S.-Pakistan relations, Clinton nevertheless asked for understanding, patience and commitment, saying her own experience in deciding to join the Obama administration after running against Barack Obama for the presidency was instructive.

"What we have together is far greater than what divided us," Clinton told the students, referring to her relations with Obama. "And that is what I feel about the United States and Pakistan."

That is war. These were soldiers who died in Afghanistan not Iraq. It is much more tragic those who return from Iraq because they went there for reasons that turned out not to be true.

These soldiers are fighting a war that needs to be fought. If you want to stop seeing the caskets come home then the answer is not stop sending troops but to allow the troops to do their jobs. Use necessary force and follow the opposition where ever it may lead them. These people who we are fighting are not fighting for a country or under the rules of warfare. They play by their own rules and once we accept that innocent people will be caught in the middle and sometimes will die we will be better off. The opposition uses humans as shields and uses the cover of villages and the local people to avoid our military.

I am finding it hard to follow what you are saying completely because on the one hand you say that the government is the problem because they have their hands in the pockets of big business and on the other hand they are the solution with bailouts. I think we both agree that the government is the problem we just disagree on the solution. Even with a representative democracy, which I agree we are totally not one, you have limits to how much power you truly have. But as a consumer we have all of the power. Now we have 6 lobbyists for 1 member in congress. Thousands of different special interest groups funded and backed secretly by corporations. The problem isn't free market capalism. The problem is the government. There is no such thing as too big to fail. We are allowing that to be the disadvantage. The average Executive used to make 40 times more of what their normal employees made. That number is now 300 times more. What's wrong with that picture? Companies fail because they pay themselves way too much money. They overextend themselves and they know and expect the government to bail them out. You know how they know that? We should have allowed them to fail. If you are taking risks that aren't wise you lose. If you are building cars people don't want you lose, that is a free market. If they fail other companies and future companies will learn and correct the issues that caused the failure.

The problem isn't free market capalism. The problem is the government. There is no such thing as too big to fail. We are allowing that to be the disadvantage. The only reason they expect a bailout is because the government has bailed them out. If you don't have drugs you don't have a drug addict. Don't bail them out, if they fail then they fail. He refused." wants a public option, come on that should tell you something. Why would we give people like him the power to decide if the government will control a portion of health care? It started with Bush's bailout before he left office and has opened the door for democrats to try and take as much control out of the private free market sector and turn it into a blend of public and private with much of the "too big" to fail group under government control. What has happened? When did people want the federal government to expand its control?

Now don't misinterpret what I said. All of this isn't Bush's fault. But he did swing the door wide open before he left office. He should have left it alone. The beautiful thing about a free market is those who cheat generally lose. But not when the government decides who is not going to lose even if they cheated. Bailouts and government take overs are the opposite of a free market and we need to decide once and for all are we going to stay a free market or not.
