Yun's Corner Palm Combos Against All Characters

Yun's regular corner combos against characters like shotos and twins are -

combo 1 - Level 3 focus attack, back dash, palm x 2, jab dash punch

combo 2 - Level 3 focus attack, back dash, palm, jab shoulder, fierce dash punch

But the above combos will not work against certain characters like Zangief, Chun-Li..etc since the first palm wouldn't reach. Here is a way to make combo 2 work even on these characters -

level 3 focus attack, back dash, kara palm, jab shoulder, fierce dash punch.

Combo 2 doesn't do as much damage as combo 1 but you can do a dive kick mix-up after the jab shoulder.

*User c.forward and fierce palm for the kara palm.

I noticed there are a lot more green bar connections on XBL now compare to mostly yellow bar connections before. I think it's mainly because cable modem in general has better latency than U-verse's FTTN network.

I still hope Austin gets Verizon FIOS soon :(.

How to Tech Throws With C.Jab

Regular crouch throw tech goes like this -

c.(jab + short)

If whiffed a c.short will come out.

To perform a crouch jab throw tech, basically you do a c.jab then immediately kara cancel into throw (jab + short) -

c.jab ~ short

Done correclty, a c.jab will come out if whiffed.

So on the input screen in training mode you will see crouch arrow, and

C.jab throw tech in many situations are better than the regular c.short throw tech. For many characters c.jab comes out faster than c.short (3 frames vs 4 frames), and it's also good against something like Rufus' instant divekick.

Lag Excuse

I heard a lot of responses regarding to some well known players (Tokdio, Daigo, Nin, Fuudo) complaining about input lag in tournaments. Most of them went like -

"They are just saying that because they lost" (even though Fuudo won EVO)
"I don't see the lag so it's not there"
"It's 1 frame lag at the most"

I remember having this argument with Mark "Mopreme" Rogoyski, Ryan "Fubarduck" Harvey, and John Choi several years ago regarding if it's possible to hit confirm Ken's c.forward into SA3 in 3s. They thought it was impossible and Mopreme even suggested that I was just "good at guessing". It's common knowledge among 3s players now that it is indeed possible and being used frequently in high level play.

The lesson is, it's not easy to convince someone to believe in something that they can't see/understand.

Safe Jump Setups Against Sagat

In high level play Sagat is probably one of Yun's toughest match-ups. Here are some safe jump setups against Sagat -

After forward throw (mid-screen) -

dash x 2, whiff c.jab, neutral jump fierce punch/medium kick on the way down.

After forward throw (in corner) -

dash, whiff stand roundhouse kick, neutral jump fierce punch/medium kick on the way down.

After ultra 1 -

Forward jump whiff fierce, whiff stand roundhouse kick, neutral jump fierce punch/medium kick on the way down.

After medium upkick -

Neutral jump fierce punch/medium kick on the way down.

After Genei-Jin combo in corner -

After RH upkick

- at landing quickly count from 1 to 2 (use training mode to find your timing), walk toward a bit, then jump toward instant short divekick. If you don't want to walk toward then count from 1 to 4 instead. Walk toward helps the positioning if the divekick is blocked.

Opponent's wakeup DP will either whiff or get stuffed in the air. You can do another toward short divekick (and repeat) for stuffed DPs.

*work against - Ryu, Ken, Fei-Long, Adon, Akuma, Evil Ryu, Oni
*count from 1 to 5 against Yun and Yang

Delta 32 Arcade Cabinet Lags?

After playing in Japan for a week mostly on the Taito Vewlix F cabinet, I can conclude that there is slight more lag on the Delta 32 cabinet. It's not as bad as the Vewlix L cabinet though.

Daigo Bet

Around a month before EVO I was having this argument with John Choi and Campbell "buktooth" Tran about who is going to win EVO. I told them I would bet that Daigo would not win EVO this year. My reasons were even though Daigo is the best player and is using the best character in the game, there are so many good players attending and Yun is not as stable compare to other top characters like Fei-Long or Yang. I was using pocket aces in poker as an example but they didn't seem to get it. In poker even though pocket aces is the best hand pre-flop, if it's up against 8 other hands in the pot, the chance of pocket aces winning is only around 30 something percent. So the chance of pocket aces not winning is actually much higher.

Yun's Safest Genei Jin Follow-Up against Twins

First saw it done by Daigo at Godsgarden (around 1:40)

In corner during combo when genei jin is about to run out, do -

c.rh juggle, dash foward, c.short, neutral jump, on the way down do either fierce or mk

If done correctly it's a 4 frame safe jump setup.

and the follow up mixups are:

jump back strong - will hit if the opponent is blocking low
c.short into combos
command throw
etc..

jump back strong doesn't do much damage but it's probably the safest follow-up after a genei jin combo in corner. It should still work in the 2012 version.

SBO Stream

I heard alot of comments saying that SBO stream on nicovideo.jp sucked since it didn't show any US team on the stream. My thought is that if the US teams were good enough then more than likely you will see them on the stream. If I was in charge of the SBO stream I would rather show good play instead of showing teams simply because they are from a certain country. I just don't like the attitude many people around here have who think US is the center of the world and everyone should cater to us.
