Again, as I said in earlier posts, my pics are entirely biased on my obsession with great action movies and VFX. Well, not entirely…… Most of the time. I like actually good movies too. But lets move beyond that, shall we.

1. Tron: Legacy, of course. Go and see this one if only for the soundtrack. Daft Punk does an outstanding job of capturing the overall feeling of the VFX in this flick. The music is almost a character in and of itself. The other thing that I liked was that the first 15-20 minutes or so of the movie are in 2D, and then abruptly shift into 3D as we move into the of The Grid. Anyone remember something similar to The Wizard of Oz?
2. True Grit- I’m gunna go out on an limb and say that this one will be a good one. I’m not a “real” movie reviewer, so I haven’t seen it yet. Remakes always make me a little iffy as to how it’s going to turn out, but the fact that the Coen Bro.’s got not just Matt Damon and Josh Brollin, to be in this and topped it off with Jeff Bridges makes me feel a lot better about how it’ll turn out. I mean, this is a remake of one The Duke’s best works. I’d spend the money to go and see this one.
3. The Fighter- This looks like one of those ‘overcoming adversity to get to the top of a chosen sport’ flicks. But from some of the reviews and trailers that I’ve seen, it looks more gritty than that. Look for a quarky and an unintentionally unsupportive supporting set of characters. That is what will make this movie go.

After my XBox 360 crapped out on me for the second time, needless to say, I decided to get a PS3. There are a number of advantages to owning a PS3. Probably the best perk is that it comes with a BluRay player. Having seen a couple of movies on BluRay(BD) previous to my PS3 ownership, I was kinda sceptical of it’s ability to stand apart from the DVD format distinctly. But what I discovered once getting my own BD player is that it stands out easily from DVD. What I’ve really loved about it all this that I’ve re-kindled my love for the older action movies like “Lethal Weapon”, “Mad Max”, “The Terminator”, “Commando” and many, many others. At this point I actually prefer to watch the older movies rendered on BluRay. Here are some older titles that I enjoy and that you should too. And if you don’t like them, you’re weird, or retarded.

  Lethal Weapon- Actually, all of the Lethal Weapon movies. These were already great movies. Now you have one more reason to get sucked into them.

• Apocalypse Now- This was just released on BluRay a couple of weeks ago as far as I know…. But anyway, this is a classic title. You should buy it.
• Full Metal Jacket- Need I say more? Maybe. Let me know.
• Ah Ya…. Die Hard. I was just flipping through amazon.com and I scrolled across this one. How could I have almost forgotten….?
• The Matrix-For any geek, this is a must-have.
• Serenity- This list is going to get really long…..

Well, I don’t think this is a definitive list of must have BluRay disks, but at least you now know my tastes. And you will not go wrong with any of these, eve if you’ve seen them a million times. You will be able to enjoy another million viewings with many titles now available on BluRay.

This knowledge is already known unto me, as I am a conossier of soda in all it’s forms, though I prefer Coca Cola to them all. Here is an experpt from the article:

Without getting into the hotly debated topic of whether or not HFCS is any worse for consumers than sucrose, the rep did say that people are buying the real-sugar products for a variety of reasons: “Some consumers prefer sucrose for taste reasons, others for nostalgia reasons or because they think of it as a more natural sweetener option,” she said.

For my part, all I have to say is that HFCS is a giant racket here in the U.S. Just go look at your food containers and see how much actually has it as an ingredient. Sugar is the healthier option. But for all of my jabbering about what foods you should eat and how to loose weight, you might just be just as well getting golf-swing instructions from Charles Barkley.

My Current Desktop

For those of you who might know me in person, you also know that I am on my computer almost any chance I get. However, that doesn’t mean that I know a ton about them. What I do know is what looks good, especially on a Windows desktop. Superficial, I know, but some of us get tired of looking at the same crap every day. Thats why I’m always looking for new 3D renderings and digital art all over the interwebz. With all of that being said, I give you some cool stuff concerning customizing your desktop.

• Designerfied.com; This website is where people can display their photography and artwork. There are some pics that people give permission for free use as a walpaper.
• Wallpaperweb.org; Everything here is free. There is some incredible art here.
• Free-desktop-backgrounds.net; I just barely found this one and haven’t had a chance to look through much of it, but from what I’m seeing they have some good stuff here.
• Wallpaper-s.org is probably the best one I’ve seen so far. Great selection and well organized.

Of course you can just go out and google what you’re looking for, or you can just take my word for it.

I’m sure that my brothers who read this blog every once in a while know what “Top Gear” is and how frakkin’ awesome it is too.

Let me give you a short synopsis: Three crazy Englishmen testing super cars, and not so super cars; completing weird challenges while pranking each other. All of that together is super awesomeness. They’ve been on TV for a while now, starting their 15th season on Monday.

Check out this YouTube video. It can only give you a small taste of Top Gear goodness.
