Here's another layout to share from the awesome scraplift challenges at Scrapperie earlier this year. There are so many things I love about using bright colors and fun papers! Sierra is especially good for this, because she is quite the little fashionista. Coupled with me working at The Children's Place, this kid has an awesome wardrobe! I have to say, it comes in super handy for first day of school pictures and matching scrap products. So, yes, she was homeschooled this year, but we do co-op and that is her 'school' in the sense that we picked a first day outfit and did the standard back-to-school supplies shopping trip for her classes, so that's where this comes from this year.

Big bonus- my ScrapRoom kit included this awesome Crate Paper bliss line that perfectly matched the feel of the lift layout and the colors of her outfit, and I just LOVE Crate Paper anyway. So here ya go, some inspiration for today!

First Day of First Grade

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Crate Paper; Journaling Tag & Butterfly Diecuts: Crate Paper; Mist scree: Maya Road; Mist: Maya Road; Jewels: Basic Grey (swirl) and KaiserCraft (singles); Alphas: American Crafts (Thickers) and Making Memories (tiny alphas); Ribbon: Unkown.

Busy busy here this last week, with one kiddo down with the chicken pox. Luckily it was a pretty mild case, but we're still waiting to see if the others are gonna get it. The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous, so being cooped up hasn't been so much fun, but we spent most of the weekend in the back yard. Grandma Mary was here for the weekend too, spoiling the kids like crazy and helping Mark & I get some projects done. We built a new chicken coop to add the new set of chicks we got, recovered the kitchen chairs (badly needed), and restuffed the couch pillows. Yay for progress!

Anyway, this week's sketch at Scrapperie was so much fun to work with. I took these pics of Venice at the park the other day (and it was a nice warm day, but we have sooo much wind here that winter hats are still a must!) and I was happy I got a chance to scrap them. Venice is totally in love with the swings!

Swing Swing

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Bella Boulevard; Thickers: American Crafts; Flowers: Fancy Pants (Crocheted), K & Co (Stitched Paper); Ink: Ranger; Jeweled Butterflies: Unknown.

If you want to work with this fabulous sketch by Amy Teets, please post it here at Scrapperie!

Happy Monday everyone!

Yikes! How can it be April already? I have been so, so busy these last few months, and I have clearly dropped the ball on the blogging, huh? Quick recap for today, then I hope to actually have some content to post within a few more days. Warning- this is sorta long, but there is some scrap inspiration at the end.

We were in Arizona with the family for all of November, December, and part of January. I was lucky enough to get to work at the Children's Place store down there so I could keep my part time status and my discount. :) Love that. That was the store I started at 7 years ago when I was pregnant with Sierra, and it was good to be back. They have the best crew, and everyone was so fun to work with. I love love LOVE their clothes, and I'm lucky enough to be able to work once every couple months and get to stay on staff. I'll be back down there to help out in July.

I decided at some point in December that I really should re-enroll at Arizona State and finish my degree. When we moved up here to Washington, I was just about a year away from being done with my B.A. so it's been bugging me for some time. I love ASU, and I was able to find a new online B.A. program that I can complete from home. That's the main reason I've been missing- taking 6 college classes and homeschooling is a little much, apparently. I LOVE what I'm doing now though, anthropology and geography concentrations. I'm also working on a major journal article that I hope to be able to present at the annual meeting of the PacNW division of the American Association of Geographers, and I've sort of decided where I want to go with my graduate studies. I will be graduating here in December, if all goes well!

Along with the ASU thing, I was presented with an absolutely amazing opportunity to both fast track my classes and study abroad. In June, I will be going to Greece, Turkey and Cyprus with the ASU program, and I am so super excited. I just applied for my passport, and this will be my first time out of the US. Can't wait!

In scrappy news, Scrapperie had a design team call back in December, and I was lucky enough to make the scraplift challenge team. I have been working on those projects for the last few months, so I definitely have some stuff to share. I will be posting some of the past challenges that I've done soon, but there are amazing challenges up on the site every day of the week, along with some of the most amazingly talented girls ever and their inspiration. Definitely check it out!

Congrats to the new design team over at Creatively Yours. My term ended with October, and I didn't reapply this time since I'll be out of town from Thanksgiving til New Years. I'm sure they'll all do great things with Ali's sketches, and hopefully I'll have a chance to keep up with them and post some here & there.

I made the design team at the local scrapbook store, Scrap Happens. Can't wait to get started, so look for some new projects for them soon.

Kaisercraft puts out a great magazine each quarter, and this last time they requested my Miss Attitude layout for their Q2 Mag. On their blog today they posted a picture, and it just happened to have my layout in it! It's the green one on the top left of page 2 here. That is little miss Venice!
