Google's Censorship of Porn on Blogger

As readers of this blog may remember (see posts on May 21, 2010 and Nov. 8, 2010), Google shut down "Asian Blowjobs," some time ago. It has never been restored, my inquiries have gone unanswered and the URL was given to someone else (who does not make good use of it). My response was to post less, and to create private blogs, which, being private, cannot possibly be spam. However, "Asian Women Shared," a private blog open only to people who asked to join, was nevertheless shut down within a few months of being opened. Again, the reason given was "spam," which makes no sense whatsoever in the case of an invitation-only blog. Once again, repeated attempts to communicate with someone about this have been ignored.

Having my blogs shut down is upsetting not only because it is unreasonable, but also because I have no way to appeal. The first time, they suspended my entire account, which meant that I could not even access my email (it's a good thing that I wasn't using it for an Android phone!). I have carefully reviewed the terms of service several times, and I am not in violation. In any case, they said the reason was "spam" (not violation of their terms). For sure, the blog was not spam. For sure, this is arbitrary and capricious.

What's going on here? To be honest, I don't think that Google is out to censor porn. Although I suspect that they don't like pornography, they also claim to support free speech. It's possible that their automated spam detection is picking up on other signals. I may have too many blogs for their taste. I duplicate sidebar content. I know that they don't like this. Their stated preference is that users should have one blog and use tags for posts on different topics. I prefer to have multiple blogs with similar sidebars. In that case, my blogs are being shut down because of aesthetics!

This could happen to you!
Whatever the explanation, shutting down blogs has a chilling effect on free speech. I, for one, will use my blogs less and post instead to delicious, which is both easier and well-suited to what I tend to do (identify content of interest to me and my readers). Hell, I'm shy of using any Google products, because of this and because they seem inclined to abandon any service that isn't as popular as they had hoped (a very high bar).

Google just added a new feature that works really well with my photoblogs (it probably works well with any photoblog), "Asian Breasts," "Asian Pussy," "Asians Getting Fucked," "Asian Porn Guide" and "Beautiful Asian Faces" (my safe for work site). Why yet another blog?
Google shut down Asian Blow Jobs during the first week in November. They did it because of "spam." So, I've decided to make a private blog with the idea that a blog which can be seen only by those who join cannot possibly be spam.

Googled again

Google shut down one of my blogs, Asian Blowjobs, on Nov. 3. This time, they gave me a reason, citing spam. However, their explanation of what constitutes spam (here) does not apply at all: "spam blogs ... can be recognized by their irrelevant, repetitive, or nonsensical text, along with a large number of links, usually all pointing to a single site." My writing has been criticized before, but never in such extreme terms. I do provide links. That's the point. I am sharing and reviewing what I like. However, they go to a variety of sites.

I hope that this gets resolved soon (they assure me it is being looked into). In the meantime, enjoy my other blogs, and remember that you can find sites I like through delicious (e.g. delicious.com/randy4asians/blowjob). To be honest, I can't log into that account today either, but delicious/Yahoo tells me it is a temporary problem.

If I disappear entirely, it will probably be because the big guys shut me down. Is there no safe place on the internet for non-commercial porn fans!

I've been looking around for a good place to connect with Asian hotties and their other fans. Yahoo is a bit complicated to use (and they keep changing the site). Recently no one has any profile information up, and the chat rooms have long since been taken over by bots. xpeeps is OK, as is fancasti.cc, but I haven't really made connections there.

There is a story going around (my source was The Korea Times) that AV idol Anri Suzuki is offering sex to Chinese students as compensation for the Japanese brutality in the middle of the 20th century.

I have not heard anything from Google. I sent an email explaining the situation and asking for an explanation. "We've received your report that you're unable to access your account...." I can access my account. My questions were:

Why was the account suspended?
Should I consider this a warning?
If so, what am I doing that endangers my account?

No answer.
Hearing nothing from them, I will resume blogging. I will be careful not to violate their terms of service. I hope that they don't take away access to my email!

Google's Content Policy

Yesterday, Google temporarily suspended my account, blocking access to my email and all of my blogs (not to mention Google Docs and other resources). This was, to put it mildly, a bit disturbing. The message I saw when I tried to log in said that most suspensions are due to violation of their terms. I don't think that I have been in violation, but I don't want to lose my email, so I'm going to be extremely careful in the future about following their terms.

I verified my account (via text message) and everything seems to be back up, but I think that I'll be blogging a lot less. I will continue to Tweet and to bookmark on delicious. I encourage those who enjoy my blogs to follow my FriendFeed, which captures all of my blogs, bookmarkings and Tweets. I also have an email list for those who prefer to receive asian porn by email.

I also invite models, pornstars and web site managers to send me content to post or review, so that there is no question about copyright violation.

Blogger Content Policy
I'm going to put their entire policy into this post and address it, point by point. My comments and responses will be in this red font.

I do not make any money. I rarely get free passes. I don't even have any ads on my blogs. However, I suspect that this is why they suspended me. Since I'm not making any money, I feel confident that I'm not in violation, but I have a feeling that Google thought I was (or their automated systems detected a pattern that fits this). Google, if you're reading this, please note that I link to a variety of sites.

That being said, I plan to post less content of this sort. Interested readers should refer to my bookmarks. Sorry.

None of the rest of the adult content details apply (or are likely to have been thought to apply).

No incest or bestiality content: We do not allow image, video or text content that depicts or encourages incest or bestiality.

Child safety: We have a zero tolerance policy towards content that exploits children. Some examples of this include:

Child pornography: We will terminate the accounts of any user we find publishing or distributing child pornography. We will also report that user to law enforcement.

I am very careful about this. I never link to sites that feature "teen" or "barely legal" themes and I don't feature women who look young. I am not into that and I don't have a lot of readers who are.

Pedophilia: We do not allow content that encourages or promotes sexual attraction towards children. For example, do not create blogs with galleries of images of children where the collection of images or text accompanying the images is sexually suggestive.

Hate Speech: We want you to use Blogger to express your opinions, even very controversial ones. But, don't cross the line by publishing hate speech. By this, we mean content that promotes hate or violence towards groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity. For example, don't write a blog saying that members of Race X are criminals or advocating violence against followers of Religion Y.

Crude Content: Don't post content just to be shocking or graphic. For example, collections of close-up images of gunshot wounds or accident scenes without additional context or commentary would violate this policy.

Violence: Don't threaten other people on your blog. For example, don't post death threats against another person or group of people and don't post content encouraging your readers to take violent action against another person or group of people.

Copyright: It is our policy to respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. More information about our copyright procedures can be found here.

This is my biggest concern because I have no desire to get involved in a legal dispute regarding copyright! I have not received any notification of infringement. If I do, I will take down the offending content, even if I think it constitutes fair use.

My thought is that if I merely reproduce images that are to be found (usually, larger and/or in higher quality) at a site to which I link, and I believe that the site to which I'm linking holds copyright, then I'm within fair use. Certainly, I'm not taking business away from the copyright holder. I'm sending them business.

That being said, once again, I plan to post less content of this sort. Interested readers should refer to my bookmarks. Sorry.

Also, please don't provide links to sites where your readers can obtain unauthorized downloads other people's content.

I am very careful not to do this. Sometimes, I get it wrong. If you're aware of any such case, let me know. Nothing below here could possibly apply, but I'm including it for completeness.

Inspired by the collection of over 600 thumbs on Tokyosex I have made made my own list of asian models and pornstars to review. Asian4you archives are now on The Black Alley!

The Asian4You archives are now available on The Black Alley. This is big news. Asian4You is a vast collection of high resolution pictures of beautiful asian women, including explicit closeups. As readers of my blog "Randy's Asian Porn" know, I am a fan of Iris, Lin See Yee, Lincy Leaw and others. These photo galleries originally appeared in the mid-00's (some are dated 2004 or 2005) but Asian4You then closed. I didn't feel good about viewing pirated content, but there was no way to subscribe.

I have now launched randy4asians.com. It actually happened on Aug. 8, but traffic has been slow to build. What's there? I'm just sharing my favorite links in a more organized and controlled way than is possible on delicious. In addition to the main page, I have one devoted to pornstars and another devoted to blogs. Having my own site will help me to do things like run the Asian Pussy Beauty Contest, so it's worth it.

For those who are interested, I chose Namecheap for hosting after some shopping around. The problem is that most of the companies that host web sites have terms of service that don't allow pornography. Most of them do in fact host plenty of porn sites, and don't bother policing it, but I didn't want to knowingly use a service in violation of the terms. I put up a tweet ("What's a good site for adult web site hosting? I don't need fancy or business-oriented, just my own domain name and control without ads") which, interestingly, resulted in several new followers who wanted to give me advice. None actually cared enough to carry out a real exchange about it, so I did the research on my own. It's a bit tedious to get as far as reading the terms of service, so I didn't look at too many companies (three or four), and I can't say that others won't allow porn, just that Namecheap's terms do not preclude it.

So far, I have no complaints. They took PayPal. The uploading and other technical aspects have been good. I haven't had to contact technical support, but I did (just as an experiment, using chat) and they were responsive. Overall, I think that I can recommend it.

Microsoft vs. Google: Is Bing ignoring blogspot?

The competition between Microsoft and Google is intense. They don't always play fair, and I think that I have found an example.

I have been comparing search options for asian porn (a complete comparison will be posted eventually). Yesterday, I discovered that Bing found almost none of my blogs. This was a bit disturbing because they were on Bing a few weeks ago, much closer to the launch date. A clue was the small text near the bottom: Some results have been removed. Further investigation led me to webmaster help pages that explain reasons why pages might be removed. The possibility that some of my outbound links have been taken over by malware seemed real (there was definitely something odd about the RedTube embedded videos yesterday), and Bing promised "a report from Bing containing a list of the outbound links on your website that point to detected malware." To me, that sounded wonderful. There are a lot of bad sites in porn and I can really use a tool that helps me to avoid them.

However, all of these tools require "authentication" of your website, which requires that you put a piece of code in the head section, to prove that you are the owner. I did that. randy4asians.com was authenticated easily (it has not been indexed yet). My blogs, which are on blogspot.com, were not. The reason is that the authentication code must be added to the root directory (e.g. blogspot.com, not randy4asians.blogspot.com) and I do not have access to that directory. In fact, no one outside of Google has access to the root directory on blogspot.com.

So, Bing is not indexing my blogs on blogspot, which is run by Google, and the solution they propose cannot be used. That may be why my blogs aren't being indexed. What about other sites? I used Bing to search for eight blogs (selected because they were top hits on Google) and found only two. There you have it. All that I can do it wait to see if Bing restores my blogs (I did "submit" them). Of course, Microsoft can also make a decision to recognize authentication codes placed in a blog template (at the myblog.blogspot.com level). Perhaps they will. In the meantime, they are happily steering traffic away from their competitor, and that probably suits them just fine, so long as users don't go back to Google to do their searches.

I've started a new project, Randy'a Asian Porn Guide. What is the best site for embedded asian porn?

YouPorn is having severe bandwidth problems and is essentially a dead site. Tube8 is looking pretty good. I have a new profile picture. I chose it after looking for something to convey my personality without letting my coworkers and neighbors know that the Randy they know is randy4asians.

In western astrology, I am a Leo. Leo is a masculine sign, "the natural ruler of the Fifth House of the Zodiac, often referred to as the 'House of Pleasure.'" That fits, but the Chinese zodiac is a bit different. I am the earth dog ("Honest, intelligent, sociable, open-minded and affectionate), which also fits but somehow wasn't what I was looking for. So, I've decided to be the Wood Snake.

The Wood Snake is well-informed but he gathers knowledge not for its own sake but to put such information to everyday use. Good judgement, discretion and a sharp sense of values will make him a superb investor and appreciator of the fine things in life. Who knows, I might change again soon, but I also like this picture, which is an object auctioned at biggerbids.com. I could not find out much about it, like how big it is, because it's been sold already, but it's eye-catching. I also like that fact that it appears to be a stool, inviting passionate women to sit down and seek their pleasure and release from Randy the snake.

Yesterday I noticed that all links to usercash.com (and ucgalleries) redirected to sedoparking.com, a site for unused domain names. Today, usercash sites all redirect to pornhub.com. ucgalleries still goes to sedoparking. Apparently, usercash.com has shut down, and pornhub bought the domain name. This is a big deal in porn. Many good "sites" were actually hosted there, including ucgalleries (see my post on asian4you), and all of the links from japoholic's sites (Japanese AV preview).

Investigating this has made me aware of some things that probably should have been a bit more obvious earlier. Usercash was paying its users a small amount of money for sending links to third parties through usercash, which added advertising, usually sleazy banner ads. Searching for information about this led me to complaints from users who felt that they were being scammed, complaints from content owners whose sites were being pirated, and the complaints from the generally curious, like this comment from "Little Buddha."

Can Someone Explain the Business Model of Sites like Imagefap and Usercash? I see a lot of adult bloggers linking to imagefap and usercash galleries but I don't quite understand how it works. It looks like they just make money from advertising and give the blogger a cut, so its kind of like pay per click. But where does the blogger get the images? Is he just stealing them? Anyone have experience with these programs? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure which bloggers he's talking about, but some of us are just fans commenting on what we find. On the other hand, it does look like some people were just posting stolen content, and that is probably why usercash got shut down. Let me explain my "business model," using a few examples.

First, Met-Art is a site that "offers the largest, freshest, classiest collection of nude art and fine photography in the world." They charge customers for access to their full collection and they post free samples (like this gallery of Kelly Zhang). They send me, and anyone else who wants, periodic emails with links to the new sample sites. I blog about them, and they get traffic. Everyone is happy.

But how do I know who's happy? This is where things get more complex. As a general rule, I post lower quality pictures and provide links to what I judge to be the appropriate site. I include the following disclaimer on the sidebar of my blogs:

None of the content here is original. I give you links to the source. If any of these sites have "gone bad" please please please tell me. If these are your pictures and you want me to use a different link, or you want me to take them down, please let me know. Otherwise, I assume that you're happy for the free advertising. Send mail to randy4asians at gmail.

Not one person has ever asked me to remove a single photograph. Others have encouraged me to blog about their sites. Totallyhotasians, like Met-Art, employs their own models and provides a mix of free and premium content. A few years back I exchanged emails with then. They gave me access to the premium content and invited me to blog about their site. In the process, I posted a few pictures of Tomo Paradise. I don't think that I was stealing anything. In this case, I certainly did what was expected.

Of course, there are other cases where it seems pretty clear that images have been stolen. I try to avoid linking to those sites, but the point is that I usually don't know. If something is on the web already then I am not the pirate if I post the content again (usually at lower resolution) and provide a link to the source. I'm not making any money at all. I'm just a fan writing reviews.

Investigating has made me feel terrible. I realize now that I have been thought to be working with or for pirates. When I tried to reply to the comment quoted above I was informed that my email has been banned from that site! I am also a good deal less puzzled about the fact that Randy's Asian Porn was shut out by Google (see un-Googled).

But that's the nature of the web. Google must index and store sites so that they can be searched. Their image search stores and provides thumbs of all the images that can be found their. There is no way around this. If a web site insists that no one can copy their content, then no one can find them.

I think that porn stars, models, photographers and legitimate webmasters should all be paid for their work. Pirates and parasites should not. Unfortunately, the devil is in the details and, right now, I'm bedeviled by the details.
