(Tacurong City to Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol, to Baras Bird Sanctuary to Lake Sebu Seven Falls to Surallah, to Tupi to White Haven, Gumasa, Glan)

It’s been an age since I posted here; my brief hiatus was a roller-coaster ride: a lot of eventful and life-changing moments have happened. So, I want to welcome myself with a great travel post, one that’s filled with overwhelming happiness: Our Trip to SOCCSKSARGEN.

Okaaay, I’m sure I’ll be using this acronym a lot in this post and since it’s too long, allow me to call it ‘SOX’ (Seriously, am I violating any rules/laws here? Misuse or copyright infringement maybe? I hope not. lol)

If you’re wondering where on earth SOX is, it’s on the central and southern part of Mindanao (I hate calculating latitudes and mapping, so you’re welcome to just Google it.) SOX, stands for SOC (South Cotabato), C (Cotabato City), SK (Sultan Kudarat), SAR (Sarangani) and GEN (General Santos City).
The original plan was just a trip only to Tacurong City (in Sultan Kudarat) and it was supposed to be only me and Anaziela (plus Rocky, if he’ll be available). But when Engr. Olot (Olot again?lol) offered his ride, Eep, Rocky, and the Junior SNGs Mary, BJ and Francis came along. Tacurong City, or the City of Goodwill is situated at the crossroads of Central Mindanao. It serves as the gateway to the 4 major cities of Mindanao: Gensan, Cotabato, Davao and Cagayan de Oro.

The happy trip started on the 22^nd of April. Upon reaching Digos City, we got lost around the small town trying to find Jolibee for breakfast, so we opted for Darling’s Carenderia/Balbacuahan which was on a highway. Thanks to Olot’s instincts, and to the ‘not-so-helpful’ tips from the residents and the GPS, we eventually found the right track to Tacurong City.

There was not much to see, just trees and trees and trees! Hehe. We passed by Makilala, and true as Rocky often tells me, there were really a bunch, no, hectares and hectares of rubber tree plantation. As we pass by Datu Paglas, my tension started. I can’t help but to think of the brutal Maguindanao Massacre, I thought we’ll pass through the site. I wasn’t talking much, and I often pause on breathing. My heart was stomping ever so loudly that I can almost hear it shouting, especially when passing through a lot of road tolls managed by terrorist-looking civilians. But when I saw the Tacurong signage, I felt relieved, but not so much until we reached the loving residence of the Cajandig Family. Their warm welcome was the best!

One of the reasons I joined this trip is to see my college classmates whom I haven’t seen since graduation. First stop? Vangiekoy’s place! We went to their house (which was at a nearby subdivision) since she offered to prepare our lunch. I was so much, very, very much happy to see Evangeline again. And I really miss her cooking! As usual, her Sinugbang Bangus with Salted Egg specialty topped it!

Thank you so much Vanj and to your Nanay! P.S. You have not changed – you’re still bully, funny, okay fine taller, nicer and the greatest friend one can have! (I should’ve taken a photo of your room to show to MM Beta. Hey I can blackmail you on that! Hahaha) I know you’ll only skip to this part so I love you as always Vanj! See you again very soon! J

Now back to the loving Cajandig family. Let’s name them:

Here’s the jolly, sexy and the coolest Auntie Andresa. She’s a great dancer and singer (now we know where Eep got her talent).

The eldest child is Kuya Marlon, but he wasn’t there during our mini vacation so we didn’t have the chance to meet him.

Then there’s Kuya Brian (the SINGER-est of them all), with his wife Ate Ching and kids Rain, and Thunder. Thunder’s baptismal was set on April 27^th, Sunday. Eep, Mary and BJ were invited to be godfather and godmothers but we couldn’t afford to stay that long to attend the ceremony so they just gave their gifts in advance.

The sexy, jolly, beautiful, smart, witty and gorgeous? Hehe. Only girl of the family, Ate Vanessa with his cutie patootie Dayniel Omar, whom we now call Adeday! He’s now the youngest member of SNG.

SULTAN KUDARAT PROVINCIAL CAPITOL

After we had our lunch at Vangie’s place, we head on to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol. Ate Vanessa’s an employee there so she gave us a free tour. It was my first time to be inside a facility, a function hall and an office that’s run by a Muslim. We were truly feeling royalties with all the glittery, shining, shimmering furniture sets. What amazed me with this region is that their Provincial Capitol is very much open to all. We even got the chance to go inside the office of the Governor, and sit on his royal chair! I wonder how many government offices here in the Philippines is as much as welcoming as with the Sultan Kudarat.

On our first night, we were served Native Chicken Soup for dinner. I repeat, Tinolang Manok Bisaya! Again, Manok Bisaya! I was sweating all over, sipping on the dish that was oh so delicious-o!

The first night was filled with endless talks, catching up, getting know everyone. They were all very nice. J

On our 2^nd day (April 23), we stayed in their home the whole morning, relaxing under their mango tree (and eating mango fruits from it too). It was a day of eating, laughing, resting, eating again and laughing again.

We also had Hito for lunch, and Rocky was lucky enough to have been given a mini quick tutorial on how to prepare Hito. One thing we've learned: To kill Hito, just sprinkle salt all over its body!

LAKE SEBU SEVEN FALLS
At around noon, we went to Lake Sebu Seven Falls. I wasn’t much enticed by the Zipline ride, so only An-an, Mary, BJ and Olot rode it. And I was damn right at not choosing to ride, as the four of them walked their way through a tiring stairs back to the entrance station. There was no service vehicle to pick them up! They had a full exercise on that afternoon! Hahaha! We weren’t able to swim too, the falls that we went to (Falls1-3) are so not meant for swimming so most of us are still on their sleep clothes.

Wala daw sila nahadlok. Oooowkay. :D

They say that you can walk through the seven falls, and there really is one that’s good for swimming, but we have kids with us and most of us weren’t ready for long, tiring walks.

We also weren’t able to go to Lake Sebu where we’re supposed to taste their freshly cooked Tilapias. They say it’s the best! The sky was getting dark, so we hurried back home, only to find out it’s still a scorching hot afternoon. That’s a tip: Don’t go to Lake Sebu on an afternoon because it usually rains. We had a mini roadtrip to Surallah, and headed back home to Tacurong.

BARAS BIRD SANCTUARY -> TUPI

On the 3^rd day (April 24), morning was again spent at their beautiful and loving place, munching on delicious foods again (including the super sour mangoes!) and chitchatting, playing with Adeday. By afternoon, we went to Baras Bird Sanctuary. I think this is the only eco-tourism spot in Tacurong. It’s not a man-made spot, but more of a protected area (sanctuary gani!). Thousands of species of birds flocked to this 2-hectare spot. We were given a farmer’s hat at the entrance, and lead by the tourist guide as we roamed around. I wonder how birds choose a spot to be their natural habitat..hmmm..

And then we went to the City Cathedral. Tacurong by the way is home to many Ilonggos, I think 90% of their population consists of Ilonggos, and most of them, if not all are Catholics. It feels good to pay a visit and pray in the church of where your destination is.

TUPI, SOUTH COTABATO

Now we’re then off to Tupi, to see another classmate and my very close, maldita in a loving way, jolly, my always confidante, gwapang college classmate/friend: Rynie Rose! I was supposed to stay at Tupi for a night but Olot offered to give me a ride and they said (or Rocky said) I should stick with the group. We fetched Rynie at the Gaisano Grand of Marbel where she’s working. The moment I saw this pasaway girl, I felt really teary-eyed! I didn’t realize how much I missed her until I saw and hugged her in person! And finally, after years and years of her inviting me at their place, I finally reached their home and got to see Uncle Sam (Rynie’s Papa)! I’ve always seen Ante Neng (the lovely mother) way back college when she’d visit Rynie in Davao. I can’t explain my mixed emotions then, and I can’t thank Olot enough for the early gift of seeing Rynie.

We talked endlessly, like so much have happened but nothing’s changed between our bond. We also met Rynie’s new boyfie Jervis. He’s nice and gwaping, I just hope he’ll take care of Rynie, and never ever break her heart. Or else!!!hehe.
It was around 8:00pm in the evening, and we got a long way back to Tacurong, so we decided to leave. How could 3 hours be so quick? As I hugged Rynie goodbye, tears fell all over me. I hate the feeling of saying goodbye to this girl. She’s the major reason why I went to this trip, because she’s like a stress reliever, my outlet and my sun on gloomy days. I was really emotional but it’s because I am just too happy, I’m the happiest girl and this is the happiest and best advance gift ever! Thank you SNG, you are the best!

The morning after was our last day. We woke up as early as 4:00am, had another round of delicious and sumptuous meal for breakfast. Shortly after, we took some pictures and bid goodbye to the loving and talented Cajandig family. No words are enough to explain how great these people are, we had the best accommodation, awesome company, plus mouth-watering foods cooked and served with love. I really regret not having been able to take pictures of the foods (foodSSS gyud!) but rest assured, we’ll surely go back to their place! Hehe

GENSAN -> GLAN

It was around 8am when we arrived to Gensan, we stopped by McDonalds to buy some food for lunch then headed on Gumasa, Glan in Sarangani Province. Sarangani roadtrip is the best, the ride was smooth as they have well constructed road. Gumasa is known as the Little Boracay in Mindanao. It has a kilometer stretch of very fine white sand -just like Dahican, only that there aren’t any big splashing waves. There are a whole lot of beach resorts in Gumasa, but we opted for the first one: White Haven Beach Resort.

Gumasa is enchanting and surely is relaxing. I just hope officials would preserve its beauty.

Lucky for us, that day was the opening/start of the Mahin Festival of Glan. Festivities were held just beside White Haven Beach Resort, and since shorelines are open to all, we were able to witness the event. I especially loved the sand sculptures!

Plus, we were able to see Manny Pacquiao in person!

It was a long and happy trip, but our wants and heart's desires were fulfilled. Thank you so much Olot for being so much generous in giving all of us a ride. We truly were able to unwind, I myself felt relieved and was very very very very verymuch happy. I love you all to the moon and back!

FEBRUARY SOMETHINGS.

While those in a relationship or regarded as “~~taken~~” are excited for this month, and the singles dread and curse the first two weeks, I am taking it on a different view. I am in a relationship but I am not as excited or giggly as everyone else is on this “love month”. I’m not being negative or a hypocrite here, and we are completely in good terms (and going strong, thank GOD) with my boyfie. But the moment I think of February, I don’t imagine flowers, romantic moments, chocolates, cuddles, kisses and stuff. The first thing that pops on my mind is that, “Here we go again, in the month with the shortest days, and where salary is a little less than the usual, and everybody’s loving shades of RED, and the birthday celebration of the “somethings”.

Okay now I said it. The somethings. Let me define this one to give you a clearer understanding of what I am blabbering. “somethings” in my own made-up language, is when you’re conveying a certain topic/explanation to someone and instead of saying the usual words to complete your speech, you say “something” in its last part, assuming that they understood what you’re trying to say. It may be good or bad, complement or a judgment, scenario or instance, negative or positive, a feeling or an attitude; can be used to a person, event, thing, mood, emotions, attitude, place, and to almost everything one can think of. Whew! Get it? (please say YES!).

Fine, you may be still in a big question mark so let me give you samples, applied ofcourse in my native language:

1. Naa gyud na sya’y something sa akong friend ba. (that person could have a crush or an affair with my friend. Something fishy going on between them)

2. Muabsent nalang ko karon uy, nagsomething mangud akong tiyan. (the person is not feeling well, his stomach is making him uneasy and he can’t explain the exact pain)

3. Haay, kabalo naman ka ana niya, something kaayo. (pertaining to an unpleasant attitude of a person, which everybody in your circle have known)

4. Niattend ko didto gabie, pero wala ko nanagad niya kay something man gud kaayo. (the person may be ashamed or feeling awkward to approach or greet someone)

There are a whole lot of instances where and when “something” can be used but these are just the few I could think of as I am writing this. “Something” can be a powerful code used by a group of people to pass information that even eavesdroppers can hardly decode. But be careful on using “something”, for it could mean more than a thing. It could portray a lot of speculations, conclusion or could make up a story on someone else’s mind, that could be exactly the opposite of what you truly mean. So when you say “something”, make sure that the person/s you speak to understand you, and that you have the same thoughts in mind. Is it clearer now?

Going back to the love month, is there really “something” in February that’s worth tagging as “something”? Hell yeah. Okay, I am heartily sorry for the celebrants of this lovely month. I am not judging you; this is just an observation and my own, personal opinion.

Based on the friends I have that are born under February, they really have one thing in common, and it is that they are “something”. They have this extreme attitude. It could be that they are too nice, or too rude. Like if you describe one dominant adjective to them, they are at the highest level of it. Sadly, most of the persons I know born under this month, have an attitude that is hard to explain – and yes, they are at the most of it, like if there’s a word higher than “most” or the Mt. Everest, that’s perfectly it. They have extreme mood swings- in a minute they are happy, then the next they’re anxious and the next they’re lovable, and the next demanding, and the next supportive and the next urrggh! You just have to deal with it. Okay I may be exaggerating on the ‘minute’ there, so you may count on hours, days or weeks. But really. It’s hard to explain and so that makes it even harder to approach and deal/cope with them.

Again, Amethyst babies, I am not generalizing. Just saying that most of my friends. I haven’t really encountered a person born in February that doesn’t have “something” in him/her. His/her personality is usually accompanied with “something”, and again something could mean positive things too. Because I also have February friends who are too intelligent, too witty, too clever, too responsible, too kind, too hot, too adorable..and the good list goes on.

But despite the extremes of February somethings, I still love these people with all my heart. They spice up the group, the family, and/or acquaintances. The gathering isn't complete without them. That’s where your loyalty, appreciation, patience, and love….and SOMETHINGs are tested. Peace out! :)

"If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?"

When I first read this question sent by Nuffnang, I said to myself, "Just one thing? Philippines need HELP. Help from almost everything: "finances, government systems, employment and business opportunities, education, good communication, and the list goes on." But if I were really to choose only one thing, that would be TO HAVE A FREE INTERNET/WIFI ACCESS TO ALL TOURIST SPOTS IN ALL THE NEIGHBORING ISLANDS IN THE NATION. Why? Because Philippines has a LOT and more to offer. I know we have the Department of Tourism to take care of the advertising part but it's more convincing when you hear it firsthand from the people who actually were there, who came, experienced and see for themselves the beauty and wonder of the Philippines.

Social media is already there, but there are still so many people who find it inaccessible because it's in a way for them, costly. Most of the people I know in Facebook depends on the "Free Facebook/FB" promotion from Globe (and all of them are very much thankful for the extension given by the company). I have been to few most visited places in the country and usually I am able to upload my tourist photos in my Facebook account days or a week after I went there. At that point of time, the excitement, thrill, fun, happiness and all other overwhelming feeling I have during the trip have already subsided. For me, "I WAS THERE" is very much different from "I AM HERE!". Just like when we went to Dahican, Mati. Right when I saw the very enchanting breeze, ocean, fine white sand of the beach, I immediately pulled my cellphone and Globe Mobile WiFi Tattoo in my bag to take a shot then post, tweet and "check in"(for Foursquare). Many of my online friends left comments and messages how beautiful the place is and how is it there. But I was able to respond only days after when I got back home because the Unlimited WiFi expired hours later and we were a bit far from the town proper to get some reload.

I am not just thinking of the accommodation/amenities for "visitors" and "tourists" of every tourist spot we have in the country but also to the management and/or owners of these very wonderful and breathtaking views. Imagine if they have free access to the internet, promoting their place is as easy as a single click, plus they can do it each and every day without thinking of additional costs! Followers and likers of the social media pages of these hot spots will surely be enticed to visit them; for those who have been there, they will be reminded of how good their stay was so they may think of going again for a vacation. It's gonna be a big help on our tourism industry. We may be booming but due to natural and man-made catastrophes that have happened and (GOD, forbid) might be happening again (blame it on climate change), some tourists are now hesitant on coming over. Even, some of us Filipinos. Especially me, that I got to experience the 7.2 quake in Bohol last year (but ain't no earthquake can keep me from coming back to that lovely island!). Just like in relationships, you know your partner loves you, but at times you need to be reminded, you need to hear it from him/her. We need to be reminded how blessed we are for the gifts and wonders our country has, and then encouraged to visit, and go back to these enchanting places our beloved country is endowed with.

Since 2007, I have been a subscriber of Globe's Internet Connectivity through my Broadband stick and now this cool and handy Mobile WiFi. I personally had some issues with Globe regarding my Internet connection but honestly, I could say they have been repaying through promotional offers that is really helpful for Filipinos. I am happy when my friends and family can quickly reply to my tags and messages, and more happy that I am updated with them 24/7, because of the Free FB. You are truly making great things possible. Kaya GO lang ng GO! Two thumbs up for that!

Another "nod of approval and appreciation" for Globe for partnering with Nuffnang, that benefits Filipinos and the Philippines. This #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 is really a "Filipino" move from Globe. Filipinos are known for hospitality and generosity, that even if they only have a little, they still manage to give and provide not just for their loved ones but for everybody. Even if Holidays are over, giving shouldn't stop.

Since my blog is new (with little backlinks and followers and commentators), I don't expect to be chosen as one of the lucky winners as I have 0.0000000000000% chance to that, but feel free to drop a comment here. They're giving away Ipad Mini 2 for you as well. You never know. hihihi

Vin Diesel dances to Katy and Beyonce's latest tunes- and rockin' it!

So the other day, a 7-minute video went viral because it was VIN DIESEL himself who starred in it - and uploaded it in his Facebook account with a caption "You know I love music..."

My initial reaction was, "Is he taking illegal shots?" But when you get to the middle part of the video, it's purely wholesome. Just him enjoying music, dances and sings to the tune of Katy Perry's new single Dark Horse and Beyoncé's (also new single) "Drunk in Love".

I am not a die-hard fan of this actor but I have been a Fast and Furious series follower. The video isn't as much as entertaining than you think and I am not into bicepticon-bouncer-body builder types of guys but I find him in this video cute. And I can honestly say, (well, he might not know most of the lyrics) but he definitely has the moves and he rocked it.

Well, who would expect that one of the most renowned and biggest action stars in Hollywood would spill some of his mushy side to the public? And what do most of us do when we're happy anyway? We smile, laugh and dance- so does Vin Diesel apparently. Simple as that.

He danced his heart out because he's happy - knowing that his movie Riddick (as he mentioned in the vid) is no. 1 in the DVD charts. So how else would you celebrate it than putting on a comfy tank top and showing some awkward dance moves? hahaha. Enjoy y'all!

How to withdraw cash funds from Paypal to UnionBank's EON ATM Card

I never thought I could withdraw funds from Paypal to EON in just 1-2 days, until last week. I've had my Paypal account 4 years ago but I never really bothered to link a credit/debit card. For me to withdraw, I just transfer an amount to my cousin's Paypal and I would have to wait until she decides to withdraw along with her funds too. Only then will I get my cash. For the first-timers out there, I'll be giving you a clear step-by-step process of withdrawing cash to EON in just again, 1-2 days. For those that already have their EON linked and verified to Paypal, jump on to number 8. :)

1. Set-up your Paypal account. Make sure the details that you provide are correct. The name you will use, and the home/office address should match any legal supporting document that you have (such as bills, gov't IDs).

2. Sign up for an EON account online. Fill-out the form and wait for a text(SMS) and/or email confirmation from UnionBank(umobile). It will give you a reference number, which you will need to present at their bank office branch.

3. Gather the requirements. Before going to the bank to open up an EON ATM Card, complete and bring the following requirements:

a. Original and photocopy of at least one(1) photo-bearing ID (check this for a complete list of

Valid IDs)

b. Proof of billing (in my case, I used my postpaid account billing)

c. Php450.00 (P350 for your first annual fee and P100 for an initial deposit to the card(refundable)

d. The reference number (the one that UnionBank sent thru text/email)

4. Go to the nearest UninonBank branch in your area. I suggest you call the branches near you first, because in my case, I waited for several minutes at my preferred UnionBank branch, only to find out they were out of EON cards as of that moment. So I had to transfer to another branch - good thing I arrived before that branch closes. Then submit your requirements, wait for atleast 10 minutes and voila! You now have your new EON ATM CARD! :)

You may change your ATM Pin right away, or just simply use what the bank provided.

5. Link your Paypal account to your EON ATM Card.

a. Log-in to your Paypal account.

b. Click on Unverified link beside Status, near your account name.

c. Select VISA in card type.

d. Enter Bank Name (UNIONBANK OF THE PHILS) and Bank Code (010419995 for EON, complete list of Philippine Bank Code here).

e. Enter your UnionBank debit card number (see photo below for reference)

f. Enter the Expiration Date and the 3-digit Card Verification Number (shown at the back of your card) then click "Continue".

g. A confirmation page will be displayed. Your card will be charged $1.95 but Paypal will refund within 24 hours after you confirm your card.

6. Get the confirmation code. The $1.95 charge creates a 4-digit EXPUSE Paypal code which will be shown on your bank statement. You may call the UnionBank branch to ask for your bank statement but it may take up to 2-4 days for the 4-digit code to show. But in my case, since I used UnionBank electronic statement, it only took few hours.

Can't seem to find your EON Card bank statement? Follow these steps carefully.

a. Log-in to your EON Cyber account. Your username will be the card number (the 16-digits written in bold in the middle portion of the EON card) and your 4-digit PIN.

In my card you may notice that there is no name. It was because the printer machine on the UnionBank branch where I got the card was then under repair. The bank teller (whom, by the way was so nice to me) said that it's not really necessary but for customization purposes and so I could have my name on it, I should drop by at any branch to have it printed as soon as possible (so long as there aren't any marks or scratches on the card).

b. Click on Accounts.

c. Click on your Name.

d. Then your bank statement will be shown. Find VISA-PP*1234CODE. The 1234 is the EXPUSE Paypal or confirmation code.

7. Confirm your EON ATM Card on your Paypal account. Log back in to your Paypal account. Then under Account overview, click on the "Confirm my debit or credit card" link. Enter the 4-digit EXPUSE Paypal Code and click Submit. And..congratulations! you are now a verified Paypal member!

8. Withdraw funds from Paypal to EON.

a. After logging in to Paypal, click on Withdraw under My Account tab.

b. Choose "Withdraw funds to your bank account" link. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw.

c. Review all related details before submitting your request.

d. A confirmation page will appear and your transaction will appear in your Transaction History. Successfully processed requests are marked "Completed" while those that are yet to be confirmed are marked "Pending".

According to UnionBank, funds will be transferred to your EON account within 5-7 banking days. In my case though (and for some other users), I have received the fund just after 1-2 days. So great!

Here's a proof. I just covered my account number, balance and some transaction details for security purposes.

The newest martial arts craze to hit the town?!?? Imported from Kobe, Japan??? Hahaha! No, no, no! The Art of Oshasha is purely Pinoy (and purely the creation of neurotic minds like mine). Although thinking about it, it may have some roots in Japan's practice of Zen. Oshasha means....Letting Go. Bwahahahaha. So ano, gets mo na? From Bratty "BOO!" to LetGo-LetGod "Oshasha". Clap-clap-clap...Do I smell maturity?? hehehe

So what is "Oshasha"?Oshasha leads you to blissful tralalas. Happiness over the silliest things, and enjoyment of the finer things in life (okay, not quite). But practice the art of Oshasha and you will find yourself easily pleased, and you'll discover a more content, and more fulfilled you.

However, it is crucial to practice Oshasha only when the time is right. Discernment and introspection is highly necessary. Oshasha does not work if you are half-hearted about it. Oshasha must be seen ONLY as your reserved bullet, your final push to the finish line, your last ounce of strength. If practiced otherwise, Oshasha is unlikely to work, and you might end up disappointing yourself. Oshasha too soon and you might live a life of regret. So when should you resort to Oshasha? Only when you have exhausted all other means (without losing your dignity, please).

Saying "Oshasha" is accepting that you no longer have control over the situation. You accept that there are greater powers over you. You realize that sometimes, trying to fix the situation can do more damage than good. And you say "oshasha", either out loud or to yourself, and leave it all up to fate. No pointing fingers, no one else to blame. Just pure acceptance of the things that you cannot change. Taking responsibility over your actions, and being content with the way things are. Oshasha.

After a long and emotional conversation, you say Oshasha, mark it as the end of the day and retreat to bed. Then look forward to a new day. After crying your heart and eyes out, just say Oshasha, let it all go, and move on. But remember, don't confuse Oshasha with saying "yes". It is not a passive submission to what you cannot control. More than that, it is ACCEPTANCE. Accepting the past, being happy about it and the way things are, and looking forward to the future.

And when you accept the way things are, and see the beauty in what you already have, you learn to appreciate more, and you end up a happier person. When you're happier, others are also happy to be around you. And then you attract good things, and that makes you even happier.

From Bukidnon to Mati - Rocky's friends are making it an annual event that we all go for an escape, to unwind, party, catch up, and just be with each other, spending quality time, and having great conversations. Bitche wasn't able to go though, she unfortunately had a fever the night before we departed. Peddy too wasn't able to join us because of his busy schedule, but on the lighter side, lovers Reena Geene and Angelo were finally able to go with us.

So off we go to Mati -this year's choice of destination.

For our food, we had a Php250 contribution for each person, that's good for 2 days consumption.

I did our itinerary and here it goes:

Day 1

The night before our 2-day adventure started, we had a little merry-making with the Micabalo Family's all new entertainment set.

At around 4:30 am, we're all set and ready for the 2-3hour ride to Davao Oriental (or known as DavOr).

Up as early as 3!

What's best about traveling early in the morning? You'll get fresh air, plus the warm greeting of Mr. Sun! And Davao Oriental has the privilege of seeing a perfect view of the sunrise!

Goofing around Brgy. Badas, where you see a spectacular view of the sunrise and the renowned Sleeping Dinosaur (or turtle, maybe?).

We arrived at Cinco Masao Beach Resort at around 7:00 am. Day 1 is intended for Island Hopping. We're bound to White Island (known as the Vanishing Island), Waniban Island and Pujada Island. You may hire a boat at Brgy. Tamisan, but we opted to hire one and dock out from Masao so the car (and our belongings) will be properly parked for safety.

As we had our first meal of the day, the staff of Cinco Masao contacted a boatman to take us on a tour. So the rates for 10 persons were:

1500 - Waniban Island - 45minute ride

2500 - Waniban and Pujada Island - 2 hour ride

Since most of us have sea sickness and are afraid of raging waves, we decided to take only the Waniban tour. Unfortunately, the Vanishing Island is now strictly prohibited to visitors too. They said the current of the waves will be stronger around 4pm, and the 2-hour ride to Pujada Island seems long enough, especially to us scaredy cats.hehe

The water was very placid so we we'rent bothered by the 45-minute trip. We took pictures, cracked some jokes, and were eager-beavers to reach the island. It's an islet since it's small - only a 4-kilometer walk! It has fine white sand, and the other half of it is already facing THE Pacific Ocean. (The Life of Pie movie always comes in my mind every time I say and think of THE Pacific Ocean). There's nothing much to do but to swim and swim and swim! But be careful because it has areas where there are sudden deep and steep slope.

After several minutes of swimming, laughing, trying for jumpshots, giggling and all, we hopped on the boat again and we roamed the island. Before going back to Cinco Masao to end the boat trip, we decided to take a dip in the middle of the deep blue sea between the Mati coastline and Waniban island. The current was strong that even though we had our life jackets on, it's very hard to swim because you have to battle out the current, struggle and save yourself from being pulled away! Me and Ajen were the last ones to dive in, we were hesitant at first but seeing the other's enjoying it, we took the risk and laugh our a**es out while holding tightly on the boat! And then there was the "how-to-get back-up-on-the-boat", which was the hardest yet one of the funniest parts! All of us girls were struggling but are laughing! (I'm still giggling while typing this too! hahahaha)

Owwwkay, somebody's a little jelly here. Let's proceed to Dahican everyone. Yes DAHICAN, it is! ATLAST! Dahican by the way, is a 7-kilometer stretch of fine, white sand and big waves, perfect for surfing. There are a lot of resorts, but the cheapest is the Amihan. It is where you'll find the famous Amihan Boys - a group of local surfers from Mati who have been competing here and abroad, and offers surfing lessons too, for those who want to try it. We first went to Amihan, but due to its lack of facilities that could cater our needs, plus no safe parking lot, we decided to head on to Dahican Surf Resort (DSR). Entrance fee for overnight was at Php150.00 each. There were rooms available, good for 6-8 people at Php1, 500 but we brought tents.

Who wouldn't FALL IN LOVE with this?

I still can't help myself from thinking, am I really facing THE Pacific Ocean?? (thinking of Life of Pie movie again.hehe) Such a cool sea breeze, the splashing of the BIG waves, the music, the very very fresh air, and great people - I thought, I am soooo having a good time. This is LIFE! Then you add good food served through my ever favorite boodle fight: beef steak, kinilaw, mangga, fruits, chicken adobo and unsa pa gani to? hehehe We didn't have much time to take pictures during lunch as usual, because we were so hungry.

Few hours later, we had Penoy Henyo game. I wanted to play too but sadly I was the host. (okay, fine). This game has never failed to bring so much laughter - from the guessing to the facial expressions! HAHAHA!

I can still remember the words blurted out by each one of them, just to guess the henyo word! And let's give a credit to Engr. Olot for taking pictures and for coaching everyone the answers! Tikasan! hahahaha!

So after the mind-boggling, crazy yet funny game, we took some more pictures and at last, it's surfing! i mean.. SWIMMING TIME!

We were as if put inside a washing machine, and were like wet clothes given a wring. The waves will push-pull you back and forth! This is so not for the weak-hearted ones.

But see how brave we are! HAHAHAHA. Dahican really is, best and perfect for SURFING. But nonetheless, we enjoyed it!

At night, we had yet again another sumptuous meal! (Thank you ner for buying a pakol and extra pork and fruits! hehehe) By the way, the watermelon was bought along the highway of Lupon going to Banay-Banay. It was the sweetest!

We had a little Kris Kringle or better known to us as "exchanging of gifts". So our concept was to name ourselves with food that is usually served on Holidays. And then we'll use those "names" to determine our Manito/Manita. Being the assigned host, I got the advantage of knowing their names and with each of their corresponding wishlist (evil laugh!). Our wishes were also limited to packed food.

Day 2

Now the morning after is also one of the best. Why?

GOD's creations are truly, overly, very amazing and just..WONDERFUL. :)

Then we had another boodle fight and this is just one of my favorite breakfast recipes! It's soooooo yuuuummmmmmyy!

The eating portion didn't just stop there, as we were then munching on our "gifts". The good thing about having food as gifts is that you get to share them. SHARING IS LOVING. :)

Few hours later, the water was again teasing and inviting..so we went out for a swim. Again.

Enchanting, Mesmerizing, Shining, Shimmering, Splendid!

It was around noon, and though it was scorching hot, we walked to Amihan then back again from DSR hoping to find a spot where waves aren't much bigger. But no hope, so we again battled it out on the big waves. And this time, it was even BIGGER. These were just few of the best captured pictures over the 10feet (I think) waves that splashed, enveloped over us and threw us. Yes, mura gyud mi ug gilabay, literally. Though we had a LOT of fine white sand on our hair, clothes (and undies!haha), plus some minor bruises due to the debris, it was still worth it. I thought I had just experienced a 'mini-tsunami' but still I enjoyed every single minute of it! ;)

One word: LINGAW!

Around 3:00 pm, we decided to end our 2-day escape, and rode to downtown Mati. We stopped by the Seaside sa Mati Restaurant to take a bite of their famous delicious empanada at only Php9.00 each. You have to wait few minutes though because they'll have to cook it so it's really fresh. We ordered two boxes so it'd take several minutes to be served. While waiting, we roamed around the Mati Park and Baywalk (also an attraction in the town) which is just a few walks away from Seaside. We took some tourist shots, cracked jokes, and see in our very own eyes the beauty of Mati. It has a lot to offer actually, just needs more attention from the authorities.

The overall trip: 10/10 once again. Beach + roadtrips + booze + breeze + delicious food + cool adventure + good music + great people = quality time spent. I can't thank Rocky enough for introducing me to these people. I've known them by their names years before but I never really thought how great companies they could be to me. No pretentions and just pure me, pure them, pure fun. I love the fact that I could just be myself, and I love the fact that I'm honestly loving these people. I thank GOD that although I lost some friends before, He gave me few of the best ones. Thank you guys for accepting me, for the invites, the talks and the jokes and for everything. Thank you, thank you and as I always say, TO THE NEXT TRIP! :)

It's almost a year since my last post. I love blogging but due to hectic work hours and the amount of workload I have each and every day, plus the craving for sleep, I don't have time to jot down what's been happening to me.

So how was my 2013? One word: ROLLERCOASTER.

Yes, my 2013 was a rollercoaster ride. Let me enumerate it.

1. Starting with where I left off with my online journal, I had a "back-office" job at the SM Supermarket Davao City. I loved my co-workers, my work, my environment but I decided to quit because a better opportunity knocked my door. I am completely "okay" with how much I was earning, I can satisfy myself and be content. However, there were several circumstances that I feel the need to help my parents, especially my father who is sick. I feel the need to provide for them, to pamper and bring happiness to them.

2. I experienced the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol. Yes, I was there. I will write a detailed post about it some other time but to sum up the experience, it gave me both fear and hope. Fear of the unknown and uncertainties of life and hope for a renewed, spiritual life.

3. I lost few of my very best childhood friends. Up to this moment, we're still cold with each other but I am still hoping that someday, in GOD's time, we'll be friends again. I am not closing doors to anyone. We have been through a lot of ups and downs, she was one of the few true friends I know and I have. I hope she would still forgive me. I admit I just came to a boiling point in my life where I didn't acted maturely. You know who you are, I am very sorry for that. :-/

4. My mother now talks to Rocky. Well, not much really but at least she recognizes him finally. And he's best buddies with my father. I am just the happiest! :) Thank you for your super duper effort, love!

5. I gained friends. People I know, but never imagined to feel at ease with.

6. My sister and I started an online clothing store: CHIQ Trends. Please check it out! :)

7. Rocky and I are going stronger than ever! <3

The year 2013 has brought so many life-changing experiences and realizations to me. It's like my faith and strength was really tested,

and I gladly surpassed the trials. For this "wooden horse" year, I hope to be a better me - to live peacefully and harmoniously and be closer to GOD. I don't wish for material possessions but for health. Good health for my parents and happiness for our family.

THANK YOU LORD GOD FOR EVERY DAY. As what I always say/murmur every time I pray, I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH LORD JESUS. :)

I know summer's over, but grilling has never been done on a seasonal basis here in the Philippines. Filipinos are very much fond of grilled recipes - everywhere you go, there will always be charcoal-broiled foods whether on a classy resto, a burger stand or a barbecue stall on the corner of the streets. Grilled recipes has always been a must-have for every Filipino party (it isn't a celebration without a lechon!).

Alright, I'll stop with the blabbering. I'm not gonna talk about a recipe, or some experiences on grilling - I'm not a very good cook either (just a very good eater. hehe). I just had to share this another awesome infographic we have helped build for JES Restaurant Equipment. This goes out to all rookies, chef wanna-be's, and to each one of us who just wants to indulge in a tender and juicy grrrrrrrilled dish. World Water Day 2013

Remember the Surprising Water Usage Numbers infographic I posted last month? Well that's just one of my own little ways of helping to raise awareness of the importance of water on humankind. Now today is a very special day especially for the environmentalists, nature lovers and earth/Mother Nature friendly persons because today, is the UN World Water Day 2013! It's not a holiday but it is observed every 22nd of March for each year.

So what's in it and how can I take part?

People from different parts of the world have their own way of celebrating World Water Day. There are educational events, symposia, excursions, sports competitions, even theatrical and musical celebrations. You can take part by helping in the campaign in your own way - posting the official banners on your site/ social media account, implementing water conservation in your own household or like me, just blogging about it.

It's been a long time since I've been quite addicted to games and/or applications on my Android phone. The last one was Angry Birds Rio - ang tagal na nun right? Suprising Water Usage Numbers

The current statistics of water crisis seems unrealistic knowing that our planet is 70% water. So let's make it clear: we are running out of FRESH WATER. With the growing population, the supply of water cannot and will not be able to satisfy the increasing demand of humankind in less than 10 years from now, not unless, we learn how to SAVE. To get a better picture and understanding of what I'm trying to convey, this infographic shows our daily water consumption and what are the alternative ways in which we can lessen water usage.

Extreme Adventure at Dahilayan

January 05-06, 2013. It’s my first ever long trip with Rocky and his childhood friends and neighbors, Beryl Luna, John Peddy Duran, Engr. Arnold Sorondo (he’s the one who planned this by the way, as his treat to his friends), the Micabalo sisters Ana Ziela(an-an), Ana Flor(eep), Ahlona Jean(ajen) and her boyfie, Carlwen Bongcales. T'was a very looooong, winding, stressful yet fun-filled trip to Bukidnon. Definitely one of my best travel/vacay experiences. Dahilayan Adventure is a must-see attraction! So this post would be not just to share our escapade, but also for everyone out there who wants to know the details- expenses, travel time, tips and such. Let’s start with the most practical and essential thing: budget. The average expense would be Php10,000 for two persons, this includes your meals, fuel if you’ll be traveling by land from Davao because that was our route (Davao-Bukidnon via Buda), souvenirs, and hotel if you don’t have a relative to spend the night with but you get to enjoy all the rides you want.

This is a long post so as a summary of the essentials for those in a hurry, travel time is usually 8-9 hours so it’s really best and advisable to spend 2-3 days there. If you don’t have a place or relative’s house to stay, Dahilayan has Pinegrove Lodge (it’s a bit expensive though, ranging from Php3,000 to Php7,000). You can also put up your camp tent at the Dahilayan Gardens however I was not able to inquire about their rates. Or you may also opt for the lodge near the park which is much cheaper (Php1,800 lowest price) or you can go to Cagayan De Oro for more choices of hotels or inns and roam around the city as a side trip. And for a full blast experience with no time wasted, it’s best and recommended to go in the park early in the morning. Dahilayan Adventure Park opens 8:00 am.

Day 01

We parted from Maco around 5:15 am. We brought food (all cooked/prepared by Rocky), water and some ointments/herbal oils for those who have travel nausea or seasickness (ahemm!*cough*Rocky*cough*Eep*Ajen). Arriving Davao at around 6:00, we had to go to Ate Malit’s house in Catalunan Grande to pick up the camera and fueled the car full tank for the long trip. So that would be around 6:30 when we finally depart the city. We stopped by and took our breakfast in just alongside the highway road of Marilog District.

When going to Bukidnon via Buda, there is this ‘quarantinas’ in Lorega, Kitaotao, Bukidnon - a brief stop for all travelers wherein they have to get out of their cars and step onto the small black pavement. It is a quarantine stop and has stations located to all possible gateways to the Food Basket of Mindanao. I don’t know if it’s just a tradition, their culture, or if it’s medically or scientifically tested. But what I know is that it prevents any disease or bacteria to enter the province from people going in, through a foot bath (well not merely washing of the feet but just stepping on that pavement).

Just can’t resist to stop over. This was not the quarantinas but this was just few of the many breathtaking mountain overviews that you get to see along the road to Bukidnon.

The road along Buda National Highway at that time was under construction, so we had several stops waiting for the cars in the other lane to pass by the only lane available. Residents in the area will sell some goods but you may not avail. Just a tip: They sell this binaki – a steamed cake made of grated young corn with powdered milk, baking powder and sugar mixed with water. I thought it tasted sweet like a cassava cake because it looked like one but it’s not. I did not take a bite but Ajen said it was just blant and nothing else. Well we have different tastes though but my Nanay once told me it is a known delicacy of Northern Mindanao and was originally a homemade dessert in Bukidnon.

Now back on our trip, we knew that Dahilayan Adventure Park is located at Manolo Fortich but nobody knew the exact direction how to get there (from Davao). But thanks to the car's GPS, Beryl's map and my classmate's help (thanks Klyde!). We thought Manolo Fortich is in the center of Bukidnon but no, it was just then that we found out that it is the last municipality going to Cagayan De Oro (so..that was why the map direction in Dahilayan’s website is only showing the one from CDO, because it’s the shortest via land). It’s fun traveling to a place you haven’t gone to but as long as you know how to read, you can surely arrive to where your destination is.

Quick stops at Buda Highway

So these are the places (the barangays and municipalities) we passed through: Calinan -> Marilog District -> Arakan -> Kibawe -> Kitaotao -> Don Carlos -> Quezon -> Maramag -> Central Mindanao University -> Valencia City -> Malaybalay City -> Impalutao -> Kisolon -> San Vicente -> Dalirig -> Ticala -> Manolo Fortich. Our excitement went HIGH as we saw the sign saying Manolo Fortich, but as a tip for first-timers, don’t get much excited- because Brgy. Alae (the gateway to Dahilayan) is at the tip, the very last place before entering CDO. So when you see the first signboard of Alae, you still have about 15 minute ride to get to the brgy. proper or the main junction (And again don’t get too excited yet because you still have a 40-45minute ride to Dahilayan). From there, you may ask some town folks or watch out for a diversion in the left side (so that’s the driver’s side) and take that route. There are also public transportation available from Alae to Dahilayan.You know you’re going the right way when you pass by Alae Elementary School, Artajo Village, Damilag, Camp Philips (through their soccer field to your right), through the Del Monte Pineapple Plantation, Mampayag, the-i-forgot-the-name-of-the-barangay and voila! Dahilayan is finally reached! And the place is just so breathtaking!

The very main reason why we want to go to Dahilayan is for us to be able to ride the Asia’s longest zipline but we were so astonished with the place that we immediately took out our cameras. We arrived there at almost 2:00 pm (yeah, that was a loooooooong ride because of the short stops we took, just asking folks for directions). We were very very much hungry when we finally arrived so we rented a gazebo for Php200 and had our very late lunch.

To give you a view of the place, Dahilayan is divided into three tourist attractions. I don’t know if they have different owners but they are somewhat linked, to give tourists the best amenities to enjoy their visit. Dahilayan Adventure Park is the one which administers the extreme activities – the ZipZone area. Second is the Forest Park, located just adjacent to the Zipzone, is the more child-friendly spot as it has a playground, man-sized animal structures, Zorb, buggy ride, and has more cottages and grounds for picnics. The third one is a bit far from the two mentioned spots but it’s the first one you see upon entering the vicinity – it’s the Dahilayan Gardens. It’s on top of a mountain and with its pavilion, the place is perfect for picnics, events, and gatherings, or if you just want to have a “me” time.

As we’re about to ride the zipline around 4:30 pm, heavy rain with thunderstorm occurred so we weren't able to. That’s another tip readers! It’s best to go there early in the morning, cause it usually rains there every afternoon. It lasted for about an hour and when it subsided, we just decided to take the rides early tomorrow when everyone’s refreshed, energized and not exhausted from the long ride, with the ticket stubs kept of course.
For us to rest our weary bodies and sleepy heads, we brought camp tents – oops! this was the original plan. However, the Micabalo sisters already contacted their uncle, who’s living at Artajo Village in Brgy. Alae (just few minutes away from the park) and we spent the night in their home. So there we went, we even met their cute and cuddly apo (sorry baby I forgot your name) and the rest of the family.

They were so hospitable, gave us a very warm welcome and even treated us for dinner and breakfast the morning after (oh im still craving for the bulad, and yes the pineapple!). The accommodation was just oh so great!

Day 02

As early as 3:00 am, we were all awoke, and took our turns for bath shower, as Eep and Peddy went out in a bit to find a church and attend mass (It was the celebration of 3 kings). We went back to Dahilayan Adventure Park, arrived at around 7:00 am and each one of us was more than excited for the rides.

Here's a complete list of the ZipZone rides with prices/packages with their descriptions:

1. The Asia’s longest dual cable zipline, 840M or at the 4500ft level of Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park is Php500 per person. You can have a partner where you are both pushed together to zoom through the rainforest canopy at 60-80kph (but usually you won’t approach the landing area together, because of the wind and/or of your position, either of you may land first). You will be transported with their 4WD Safari Cruiser to a launch tower at 4500 ASL and the crew will of course give you instructions and the necessary precautions. You may bring your camera or phones, they’ll take care of it.

2. The second choice for Zipline is the 320M + 150M dual zipline –all in one. This is the usual zip ride that most zipline spots offer, you just sit and hold the rope attached from the cable as you ride. You can again ride this one with a partner or you can also do it alone. This is for Php250 per person.
Now for their promo package, if you want to experience these two rides, you can avail of their “all-rides package” for only Php600 per person. So this consists of the number 1 and 2 rides.

3. Dropzone.

This is yet the most extreme activity I have ever done in my whole life. Good for Php500 per person but if you have a partner, it’s down to Php750 per pair. Only me and Rocky tried this and I swear this is soooo not for the weak hearted ones.
It was only when we arrived at the activity area that we totally understood what’s exactly gonna happen.
Positioned the same as the 840M zip ride but this time just beside and held each other’s arms, we were pulled up a 120ft guyed tower.

As we reached the very top, the crew counted to 3, and as per instruction, Rocky pulled out the ripcord on his waist and oh-i-think-we’re-gonna-die, all out scream was all we did as we were dropped, freefall into a manmade lake (which was dry at that time).

My grip on Rocky was so much tight and we were so much afraid, the adrenaline rush cannot be explained that we thought we’re going to puke, pass out or something. And not just that, our yells were never-ending as we were swayed back and forth still high above the ground. So after the free fall, because of the weight the rope that carries us will surely swing - an additional extreme adrenaline pumping pendulum swing! I felt as if my stomach is lifted every time it swings, it’s as if my innards become my outards (as the pirate from Ice Age 4 said to Sid). But when the paced slowed, we were both enjoying the moment and even posed for the camera.

4. They also have the Flying Lizard. It’s like a metal bicycle put on top of a wire that’s attached to the pine trees. It's a canopy glider that moves through trees, crawls along vines and zips between tree trunks while you pedal along the high wire. It’s only for Php250 but we did not try it.

5. The last extreme thing you can do there is their Rope Course challenge. It's a 12-stage high and low obstacle course for only Php250. **Note: The prices indicated were of course at the time we went there. It may have changed as of this time so it’s best if you’d visit their site for the updated prices and to book for reservations. From the breathtaking ziprides to the adrenaline-stomach-pumping swing, we took our last shots of photo souvenirs, grabbed some foodie for merienda and went on board again for home.

Mission ACCOMPLISHED! YEHEY! ^.^

We departed from Bukidnon at past 11:00 am, took a lunch stop at a carenderia at Manolo Fortich and headed home, then safely arrived at around 9:00 pm. The overall trip and experience was more than satisfactory and gratifying. We had so much fun that words can’t even fully describe and express it! Plus, we even got free certificates for each ride!

Such a kind-hearted and generous person. We owe you big time ner! Thank you to Suaybaguio Family in Artajo Village for the great accommodation and of course Thank you Lord God because it was successful and we went home safe and sound and full of pamaol. Hahaha! I'm so proud of myself for not having a heart attack during the 1 minute dropzone freefall and sky swing ride on 120 feet level with Rocky. It was the best ride and the most extreme thing I've done so far! Mission accomplished to all of us for conquering the 840M, 320M and 150M Zipline rides, including the scary thunderstorms, heavy rains with lightning that we went through. I really had fun. To the next trip guys! :)

Holidays 2012

I know it’s been awhile since I posted here. And it’s super late to post about holidays because the spirit of the celebration, parties and hang-overs have already subsided. But I wouldn’t want to miss publishing last year’s gathering, for it is my first time to donate a lechon for our Noche Buena. :P It is my way of saying thank you to Papa Jesus (as what my niece and nephew would call HIM) for the blessings he has given to me and my family, for keeping us away from any harm and/or danger and as my birthday gift to HIM.

For the first time in my life, I unfortunately celebrated last year’s (2011) Christmas alone in Cebu. I was very happy then but it’s still and will never be the same as spending it at home- with Nanay, Tatay, Ate, Kuya, Ditse, and the kulilits Alteyang and AJ. Christmas will never be complete without my family and I cannot thank HIM much for keeping our bond stronger, and we were complete on that special day (technically though, Ate Malit arrived the day after but, it’s still December 25^th). And what made it even more special is that Rocky was there, joining the conversation and drinking session with my Kuya, cousins and uncles. It was also his first time counting down the 12:00 Christmas Eve away from their home. I felt sorry for this part but he assured me it was no biggie, and that he enjoyed celebrating with us too. Thank you boyfie for cooking the lechon (is the term ‘cook’ right? Or should it be ‘prepared’?) Ugh, whatever you call it, thank you so much and oh boy was it delicious, sumptuous, volumptous! It was a very merry birthday for Papa Jesus! We love you!

Comval Province badly hit by Supertyphoon Pablo (Bopha)

It was an early Tuesday morning of December 04, 2012 when my sister, Ditse Yami commanded me to turn off the ceiling fan, because the cold was unbearable (We slept on the same bed that night along with her son AJ and she was still so sleepy to get up). I was also too lazy to move so the cold went on for a few more minutes. Later did we realize that it was not the fan bringing the cold, but the wind from outside because the window was left open. It felt as if our stand fan was set to number 3 (the strongest speed and volume of air it could offer). The curtains are swinging unusually so we got up and found out that the electricity is out, the mango tree from outside looks as if it's gonna break down, and Nanay is at the corner of their room praying for the bad weather to stop, - that was when we realized we are being hit by Supertyphoon Pablo (international name: Bopha). There were clattering, from the neighbor's rooftops that were blown away, and I can hear some of the people evacuating to the Brgy. Hall (which was just beside our house). Fear overruled within us, as we do not know when will it end, how far its damage would be and of course the fear that we might be harmed. But we chose to just stay in our own rooms, and waited for the storm to stop.

The strong gust of the wind lasted for about 6 hours and heavy rainfall dropped. Thank GOD we're safe and sound. Around 3:00 pm in the afternoon, when everything and everybody's calm, and the rain has also stopped, we went out of the house to witness the damages and casualties brought about by Supertyphoon Pablo. These are some of the pictures we took, not far enough from our house.

Up to this day, we still don't have electricity and water supply so we do not know that we are all over the news everyday, that Pablo largely hit the towns of Cateel in Davao Oriental and New Bataan in Comval which now seemed like a ghost town. As I read the news today, death toll rose up to thousands, and thousands are also still missing. Compostela Valley Province is not a typhoon prone area, and as per news and PAGASA, Pablo's landfall was expected to be at Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. But then again, Mother Nature showed us how powerful and unpredictable she is, as Pablo moved swiftly on its predicted path, sending roofs flying off houses, hectares of coconut trees tumbling, rivers bursting their banks, canceling flights and ferry services, church bells ringing and sirens wailing in a large part of Mindanao where it passed.

Residents did not expect Pablo's fury to be that strong that it would rake thousands of lives. It also ravaged the primary source of livelihood in many areas of Comval - bananas and coconuts. Soldiers who came to rescue even said in an interview that in the many years that they have been deployed to typhoon prone areas in the country, that was the first time they saw such strong wind, and wide damage caused by a typhoon. In Brgy. Andap, New Bataan (the most affected area), what was once mountainous village now seemed like a very wide riverbed. In the history of Comval Province, this is by far the worst and most grievous storm it has been through.

Oh how time flies so fast! It's THEcember already, my favorite time of the year. I get to see and be with my family, relatives, friends, comrades and there's party everywhere, at almost every week of the month! I'm so back on track!

After years of not hitting on web journals, I decided to return to my ultimate online rantings outlet so here goes my (technically) third blog. This has been started months ago, I had just publicize it for work reasons. :P I've made up a new one because I wanna dump my old self to those previous ones. This is the better ME: happy, so much inlove, sassy, and yes, excited to spill out some (just some, ok) of my random thoughts, experiences, life/love lessons and nonsense tales.
This blog is still under construction, I'm really really busy but I'm working on it whenever I can. I'd like to have a unique title, was thinking of something like "melanistic memoirs" or "lani lingers". Hope I can formulate a great one. I'd really appreciate any help, comments and suggestions for my site's improvement!
