As a kid all i knew about cricket was if sachin is there India will win..  As i grew up and learned the rest of cricket i felt i’m really fortunate to be in this era. Now as a youth i’ve got my biggest dream to meet Sachin Tendulkar in real life . and still i know for India  Cricket Means Tendulkar ..

He is not just a genius on field but off field he is one of the best Indian Citizen you will ever find. a true gentle man as everyone calls him.  For India  He is the youth Icon for Past 21 years. whenever i have start saying about Sachin Tendulkar my mom who never sits and watches cricket makes the comment..  Learn From Sachin. She never meant cricket but his gentleman-ism.  I feel thats the biggest success about sachin tendulkar.  For many elder ladies like my mom  he is still an innocent teenage boy who plays cricket wonderfully.   My Aunt still switches of Cricket match on TV when Sachin loses wicket. so much they still believes in the master batsman

Yesterday Night (23rd Feb 2010) Chetan Bhagat tweeted a few flirting tips for guys .  reading them i felt like it should be recorded somewhere for reference everything written below is from Chetan Bhagat with links to the tweets

It is about a week since Facebook revealed its new design to users world wide..   the design in a look is neat and good.. but i feel like they have made a mess up regarding few items..

The Notifications were earlier shown on the right side portion of the bottom bar which used to be static at that place ..   it always helped to know about the notification almost instantly..  in the new design they have made the notifications appear on the TOP bar which gets scrolled out along with the page this makes it a uneasy to know the notifications if the page is scrolled a little bit down .   I feel this as a real  discomfort  with notifications because of this change.

Some times when adding friends the add to list is not shown .. especially when someone refers a friend.. this is making it difficult for me to manage friends when you have a lot of friends..   and the process of adding an unlisted  friend to a list is cluttered now.. you have to select the list take the edit list  and browse through the friends list and add the single friend to that list.  the older way of adding a friend to a list was easier to do

i hope facebook will take care of these usability issues in their next FaceLift

In the Recent ad (Malayalam Version) by Kalyan jewelers they are cashing in on the trust factor.. but of late there has been a row of emails which say even though they focus on trust between daughter and father , they are showing a great cheating by the girl on the boy. the face expression of the boy clearly shows the untrustworthy feeling . This has been the story of the Malayalam version of it .

But today i saw Tamil version of the ad in which the director has cleanly managed to draw a great factor of trust.

seeing the Tamil version i felt like  the Malayalam ad tries to convey a message like no one cares for a boys feeling in kerala.

It was a shock to here the news of Cochin Haneefa’s death.

Recently it doesnt seem to be great time for Malayalam Film Industry.. News of the Premature death of stars coming in as a shock for us . Lohithadas, Murali, Rajan P. Dev and yesterday it was Cochin Haneefa.   When i started watching films he was a comedian and “Hydrose”  wan one character that i actually remembers of him as the earliest.  later i saw many films in which he was villain and really later i realized he was a director and writer too.

A bunch of unforgettable classic comic characters his role in film meeshmadhavan, manar mathaai speaking etc were simply great.  i had a chance to meet him once. It was in the set of movie “Pulival Kalyanam” in which he was doing a character of a taxi driver.  The Movie was shot near to my house and i was there to see the stars (especialy because kavya madhavan was also coming).  It wasnt a big talk or anything.  i just got a  chance to shook his hands. That is all.

His Characters have won a great unforgettable place in malayalee’s minds. He will be remembered for long time.

Rest in Peace Cochin Haneefa.

making strawberry ice cream wasnt a complicated process at all..

1. Bought Some Strawberry crush (available at most of the super markets)
2. Bought milk (milma )
3. Boiled milk
4. added sugar
5. Mixed the strawberry crush (with the mixer)
6. kept for freezing and went to sleep

Woke up after 2 hours and found great icecream is ready.. it was awesome..

The Year 2009 paves way for a new year 2010 . at this moment i’m looking back to the eventful year 2009 to see the footprints it left over in my life.

The registration of a personal domain name (this site) is the first thing that comes to my mind when i think of 2009. yes it is an achievement.. and a big thanks to DreamHost.

I decided to give up my dream of an MBA. i just realized i should not waste much time thinking of MBA.. if it comes my way any time in future, i will take it.. but i’m not gonna dedicate too much of time on it.

Twitter!!! i wasn’t just a few months and few friends old in twitter when the year was born but at the end of the year i stand her with more than 7000 tweets and 550 friends. It was great to make contact with a lot (really a lot) of new friends through twitter and then through various other ways like tweetups and barcamps etc.

Barcamps and tweetups became a new way of social interaction for me.  A lot of friends sharing a lot of views , a lots of dreams, a lot of ideas and ideologies.  what i thought as a big things in life were in my hands this year through my friends. TedX was something i missed this year.

A few electronic items were bought this year and some are still in pending list. My  New PC ,My New Camera(Fujifilm s200HD) ,My new TV tuner Card, new Headphone etc are the notable new things around me.. A new Mobile and a laptop are in the pending list.

Few Good Films were in theaters this year.. and i experienced multiplex for the very first time.   i’ve already written a post about my take on the malayalam movies of 2009.

Micheal Jackson’s death  is the be the saddest moment of 2009, MJ was great in all means

Traditional Main Stream media vs New age media (blogs, twitter etc) was a unhealthy fight in 2009.. even though the Main Stream media was very strong in 2009 i can see a day not too far away were we main stream media is fought down.

For me Telangana issue sounds like a serious shame for India.  it all sounded like someone is seriously planing a divide and rule policy on india.  shame on how our leaders dealt with the issue.

YS Rajashekar reddy’s death was a shock to India and Andra pradesh.  A salute to the great leader.

Mullaperiyar issue is blown out of context by senseless and brainless tamilnadu leaders. they should learn to respect lives of 40 lakh people..

Regionalism is becoming a cancer on Republic of India. we really need a strong leader at the center to stop the regionalism issue.  Mumbai , Telangana , Goorkaland, and a lots of other narrow minded rationalist maniacs still on news is a real threat to United India.

A lot of movies , a lot of hype. That was the situation of malayalam film industry in 2009. The new age technologies were used a lot in production and marketing of films.

The Icon of Malayalam Film Industry in 2009 turns out to be none other than Oscar Winner Rasool Pookutty. His Oscar winning made “sound mixing” a hot topic for every movie enthusiasts

As Usual “HYPE” was the main hero and “STORY” was the main villain in the Malayalam movie industry in the year 2009. Too much Hype and too less content was the situation of most of the films. with the tv channels competing each other there were room for even the lowest cost film to cast HYPE as the hero. I was disappointed with most of the malayalam films i saw in 2009. The email star wars between the real mad fanatics (you are free to read as fans) was another highlight of the year 2009.

here are some of the good and bad films for me in the year 2009. as Rajeev Masand puts it “the HITS and PITS of 2009 and is not dependent on the rating or box office collection but purely on a personal choice and not in any particular order”. yeah its my personal best and worst malayalam films of 2009. The List is purely based on the movies i personally saw in 2009. it does not include movies like pattanathil bootham, bagavan, angel john etc which were never worth a trailer watching.

My HITS of 2009

1 )  2 Harihar Nagar :   One great sequek to one of  the ever greatest hits in Malayalam.  Bringing back the laughter and comedy in to every single persons mind. an all together well blend movie for any crowd.    Cast : mukesh, jagadeesh, sidhique , ashokan

2) Passenger : A good movie with a very good message and good story. A good marketing would have made it a bigger hit.  cast : srinivasan, dileep

3)  Kerala Cafe : One of the biggest and greatest experiments in malayalam film industry. My Personal choice for best film of the year 2009.  Many argue they dont understand the need of 10 different stories for a film.  but for me it is like reading a collection of short stories.  full marks to Director Ranjith  for making the concept into reality

4) Paleri manikyam  oru paathiraa kolapaathakathinte kadha :    great story and great direction and well supported by good acting . one of the best malayalam film ever seen on screen.   cast : mammootty

5) Bagyadevatha : a good film and a good entertainer . i liked the movie a lot.  The new heroine was good and the entire mood of the moive was excellent  Cast : jayaram, kaniha

The Worst List.

1) Sagar alias jackey Reloaded : One of the most hyped and most disappointing movies of 2009.  It was all hype and no content. The Director should relearn his basics his next film

2) Love in Singapore :  .. Man is bound to do sins .  i did commit a sin by watching this film

3) Neelathamara : not a story to be made a film.  except the song Anuragavilochananaayi there is nothing much to say about this film.  First time it was made a film it wasnt a success and why the hell did they try the same story for second time

4) Rahasya Police :  the only reason i went for this film was becaue i ahd nothing else to do and i regret on my decision.

5) Robinhood : questioning the common sense is what joshy tried with this hilarious movie and its subject. i think the movie went on for few days in theater only because the common sense is not so common.

Tail note : i really wanted to put Pazhassi Raja in the worst List .  but somehow these 5 scored negatives  way ahead of  pazhassi raja. i didn’t like Pazhassi Raja much

Paleri Manikyam : Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Kadha is all about what a strong story can do to a movie. An awesome Story right from the Beginning of Kerala State.  The Story is Based on the First Registered Rape Murder case in Kerala in 1957 and a late investigation on it 52 years later.

The Movie revolves round the rape and murder of a 20 year old girl in 1957.  Detective Haridas who happened to be born on the same night the girl was dead is back to Paleri after 52 years to find the truth behind the murder. He eventually links all the almost lost pieces of information and arrives at a conclusion.  The Twists and Links in the movie are well written and Director  Ranjith is successful in maintaining the surprises and suspenses till the very last.  The Common behaviour with the 3 roles played by Mammootty seems to be that all the 3 characters  enjoy relation with women outside their marriage

A strange coincidence which linked perfectly and blended with some excellent camera work.  The shifting of scenes from past to the present and to the past was excellent through out the movie.  The Art Director has done an excellent  job.  It is a movie that doesn’t kill you by silly songs. just one at the last which actually defines the mood of climax.

The Performance by actors were excellent. Mammootty’s 3 role appearance is done excellently . The Actor has shown yet another great performance in the film.  Another notable role was done by the Guy who played the Role of “Pongan”.  Shweta Menon is sexy and brilliant.

I remember reading an article in a newspaper (dont remember exactly if it was indian express or The hindu)  in which quoted Steve Waugh (If I remember right) commenting Virender sehwag would be short lived in international cricket. It was early days of sehwag’s career and he had become the crowd favorite with the boundaries flowing of his bat.  The comment above was made when some ad agency consulted the commenter for advice on making an ad deal with sehwag. Sehwag was a the blaster for Indian ODI team then..  little did everyone knew he is going to be one of the ever best test batsmen in the history of the game.  No One actually predicted a future for Sehwag in Test Arena. But Looking back History teaches everyone guessed absolutely wrong.

There was a time in Indian Cricket when Indian Batsmen found it hard to score a double centuary.   Dravid, Sachin etc  scored double centuries but Sunil Gavaskar’s decade old record of 236 was always intact.  Then came Laxman’s 281 that revolutionized Fate of Indian in Test Cricket.  Then came a flurry of huge scores from the Indian Batsmen.  But Still a Triple Century was missing.  Mr Demolisher Sehwag was the god’s choice to be India’s First Triple Century maker  and rest is history. First against Pakistan at Multan and second against South Africa Last year

In the Second test match against Srilanka when sehwag was out for 131 it was the first time in last six years that he got out under 150 after scoring a century.  Doesn’t that sound awesome?

Sehwag Became the 2nd fastest double century maker in test Cricket. Do any of you remember the conditions under which Nathan Astle made the fastest ever double century? with an injured Chris Cairns on other side and a great last wicket blast.  Surely if  sehwag was under such a circumstance i bet it would be the bowler’s biggest nightmare ever.   weeks before that Gilchrist had struck the fastest ever double century which everyone talked about with huge surprise. Check now. Gilli is not in the Top 5 fastest double century makers. but you will spot Sehwag 3 times in the top five.

And Now today he has become the Indian batsman with maximum number of 200+ scores. He also bagged the top 3 scores by Indian batsmen in test cricket.  Only Bradman is there above him in the list of Maximum double century makers and he jointly holds record for maximum 300+ scores. 16 more Runs tomorrow and Sehwag will again rewrite History books ; scoring above Sir Donald Bradman and Brian Lara.

Wishing Sehwag all the very Best and praying for him to break Lara’s World Record of 400 runs.  God Bless you Sehwag.
