Inspired by New York Magazine's recent piece 'At Home on Screen' and the passing of Sidney Lumet, a legendary 'cinematic captor' of NYC, I took a shot at ranking my favorite films set in New York City. With such a vast number of NYC movies, I ended up with a ranking that looks very much like the scores of others who have identified their favorite iconic NYC pictures: Manhattan (or almost

I thought this was pretty funny.  They are selling an orange drink at HBO.com inspired by Bill's synthetic blood drink.  They come in bottles that look surprisingly like the bottles on the show.  Pretty cool novelty gift for crazy True Blood fans.

Happy Halloween, Rankography! I'm sure you've read plenty of lists about horror films this year, but what's the harm in one more? 1. Nosferatu (1922): This is one of the most genuinely creepy movies I've ever seen. If the Maltese Falcon is the stuff dreams are made of, Nosferatu is the stuff nightmares are made of. The scene where Nosferatu is coming up the stairs and all we see is his

The Not So Hot Top Ten Of 2010 The summer is officially over and so the summer of 2010 movie numbers are finally in. With a market flooded by 3D movies and remakes 2010 has been without a doubt the worst year for movies at the box office in a long time. Movies in 2010 have been boring, dismal, and nothing to tell your friends about. There have been a few gems in amongst the garbage pile, but there just has not been enough movie magic to keep audiences from yawning their way through the summer. 3D or Not 3D,

When I was first invited to guest blog for Rankography movies, I wasn’t sure exactly what to write about.  So I went over to the website and browsed around for a little while, hoping to find something interesting that I could discuss.  Thirty minutes later I had looked at many lists of movies and had created two of my own.  Let’s face it: ranking movies is fun!  The critics

We are introducing Composite Rankings for any category with at least five member-ranked lists.  We already have over 20 categories with Composite Rankings. My god I am sick of the remakes and endless cycle of sequels coming out of Hollywood the days.  It seems that for every truly original movie, such as Inception or Dinner for Schmucks, we have at least 4 or 5 remake/sequels.  Do we really need to remake a movie, like Halloween or Let the Right One In, that were both incredible the first time around.  What does the medium gain by

Christopher Nolan has cemented his name in the minds of many movie goers these days as he continues his strings of remarkably wonderful movies. This weekend saw the release of Nolan's latest piece of work "Inception" Inception takes the viewers through a dream world and leave us with much speculation of what is going on, and in the end what truly happened? The movie leaves many questions and

Is it possible that the year 2010 could down in history as the worst year for movies? This is a thought that has plagued my movie mind for quite a good portion of the year so far. I am just finding that the more large release movies that I see this year, the more I find myself disappointed with what has been put out. More and more remakes and sequels seem to be the large portion of movies

With the incredible success of Eclipse this past weekend, it looks like the US has blood-sucking fever. As a nation of movie-goers we have long had a fascination with Vampires. I am not sure what draws us to these stories -- maybe the allure of eternal youth, the danger of forbidden love, or simply the magnetism of dark, brooding characters -- but the US has the fever bad. As a result, I
