Corry Gunz Speaks On Loaded Gun Arrest

Young Money artist, Cory Gunz has used the social media, Twitter to speak on his recent loaded gun arrest in the Bronx on Saturday. Apparently, the local police had received a tip about some sort of shoot out that was meant to go down or something like that, and they started carrying out searches. They found the loaded gun in his back pack...

"Home," he tweeted January 29th.

"Lock My Body, Kan't Trap My Mind...."

"I apologize to all of my Supporters, Friends and Family. Things Happen, No excuses. My only regret is letting ya'll down... Peace" (Cory Gunz's Twitter)

He also spoke to Daily News about the issue-

"This was a big mistake on my part," he told The Daily News. "I didn't have any intentions of harming anyone or committing a criminal activity. So many young people look up to me and I need to fight though this."
"It's been really hard, really stressful," he continued. "When the smoke finally clears people will understand what was going on."

Rapper Cory Gunz was arrested in the Bronx on Saturday for carrying a loaded firearm. The police detained Gunz yesterday afternoon around 2 p.m. and found the loaded gun in his backpack. Gunz is currently being held in Central Booking in the Bronx. He has no prior criminal record, but New York law mandates a prison sentence of three and a half years for illegal possession of a loaded weapon. (Rolling Stone)

In case you don't know, Cory Gunz is son to the legendary Bronx Rapper- Peter Gunz. I can remember bumping songs from Peter Gunz and his rap partner, Lord Tariq back in the late 90s...i think 98 to be precise. Their chemistry was priceless.

Below is what Senior Gunz had to say about his son's arrest over the weekend.

"It was definitely an illegal search," Peter revealed. Gunz was unable to disclose full details on the incident just yet, but he explained the events leading up to his son's arrest. "I spoke to the arresting officer, and so far, what I'm hearing from him is that they got a phone call at the station saying they should 'look out,'" Gunz said. "According to [the officer], they didn't know he was Cory Gunz. They just saw a bunch of kids following him around. What I will say is that the officer that arrested Cory, actually happened to be a cool dude. After arresting Cory, sitting down with him and talking, he felt bad about the situation." (RapFix)

I hope he gets out of this without going to jail, cos i really see him as the next to blow after Tyga in the YMCMB camp. But word out is that he might have to serve up to three and the half years jail time. Let's just hope things turn out for the best.

Snoop Dogg Disses Kim Kardashian

Yeah! Snoop Just dissed Kim Kardashian, but not with a record, during an interview. I think the Kardashians are really getting it from all corners at this point. I mean, the public is tired of the show and want it off the air, now Snoop is going at kim. Read what Snoop said about Kim and and the way she did Kris Humphries below-

"Advice for Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian," Snoop asked in the video. "The first advice is, you dumb a** n*gga, you shouldn't have tried to wife the b*tch, man. She's not that type of a h*e. WOA! I think those are some pretty harsh words from snoop. Maybe if it was the 90s, i wont be suprised to be hearing this from him, but i thought he had gone completely hollywood. When you have a show on the same network that airs the Kardashian show, i don't think comments like this are good for business. I know Snoop had that Fatherhood show on "E!" last year, but i don't think he is on anymore. But, i still think snoop is too corporate now to be calling another celebrity a hoe on camera.

Personally, i think the whole Kardashian family are taking the whole thing with fame too seriously. Drama and controversy sells, and they are a part of life, but when you bank on that to make a living, it starts bothering people if you really value the essence of living in the first place. I am just saying though...not to knock their hustle. I was just watching the re-run of the show a couple of hours ago, and that Kris Humphries dude had me laughing my butt off. I think he is the best thing that happened to the show. And i don't think he ruled of the possibilities off the present eventuality with him and Kim.

What's Your Opinion On Tyga Working With Nas

If you know Nas, you know he doesn't feature on a lot of people's tracks. He said it himself on Luda's I do It For Hip Hop track- "they say i'm low-key...i'm socially awkward...the only niggas who know me are the ones that i work with". I think i can count the number of rappers, outside his camp, that Nas has done songs with since he got in the game in 91...and the number is not high. It has just been confirmed that he is going to have a verse on Tyga's upcoming album. I think that is a big surprise for me. For one thing, Tyga is not huge like that. And it is not like he is a Kendric Lamar or anything. I think Tyga is aight, but not the best of the best when it comes to the new kids on the block. So, for nas to agree, or put correctly, be interested in making a song with Tyga before making a song with someone like J.Cole...or Kendrick Lamar beats my imagination.

Personally, i think Nas is trying to show the new kids what he can do on the mic. He did the Lil Wayne outro on Carter 4 , and that got a lot of people talking. Then he had one of the dopest verses on Rick Ross's Rich Forever mixtape. And now he is doing a song with Tyga. I think Nas is gearing up for his 10th album release later this year, and he feels the need to be more in the people's eye.

It is great that someone like Tyga can be excited to be working with Nas. Really, nas is not a lot of rappers role models. Although a lot of people testify to the fact that he is a lyrical genius, people would rather have someone like Jay-Z as a role model. You know...jay has the swag and the success and all.

Anyway, lets see how this turns out. I think it would be great to have a video to go with the song. I think it would help both parties.

Nicki Minaj Breaks Record With Stupid Hoe Video

Nicki Minaj's Video for Stupid Hoe has broken vevo/youtube record for the most viewed video within 24hours of upload. It got viewed 4.8 million times within 24 hours. The video hit the net on Friday, 20th Jan. Stupid Hoe is the first single from Nicki's upcoming album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Apparently, she is taking mad shots at Lil Kim on the song, and in the video. I am a lil Kim fan, but that is not the reason why i don't really like this track. I liked a couple of songs on the first album, and i like her creativity, but this one isn't just doing it for me.

Congratulations to Nicki and the whole Young Money/Cash Money camp...you can't dispute the fact that they are curently winning. Nicki's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album drops on April 13.

Rap Albums On Billboard Chart

Drake's Take Care album still is the highest selling rap album on the chart for this week. It sold 29,000 copies this week, to now total at 1,350,000. It is heading for 1.5 mill soon. And probably 2 million before the end of second quarter.

Young Jeezy is up next with his TM 103 album, which is now at a total of 380,000 copies after 5 weeks on the chart. It sold 19,000 copies this week. Jay-Z and Kanye West (The Throne) sold 12,000 copies of their Watch The Throne album, to now stand at 1,273,000.

Lil Wayne's Carter 4 sold 11,000 copies this week, and now totals at 1,957,000 copies since its Aug 28 release. Common's The Dreamer/The Believer album sold 5,500 copies to stand at 112,000 so far. Common has never been a high seller, so this is not really disappointing. He serves a smaller fan base.

Wale also sold 5,500 copies of his Ambition album this week, to now total at 345,000 copies. He is gunning for that Gold Plaque. I think one more single would get him there. Yo Gotti's Live From The Kitchen album sold 5,200 copies in its second week and now is at 22,000.

French Montana Says Drake Wants To Fight Common

A couple of days into the year, Rick Ross dropped his Rich Forever mixtape, and the song that really stood out at the time was Stay Schemin- a song that featured Drake and French Montana with Rick Ross. That song became controversial because Drake used his verse to respond to what he felt Common was saying to him on "sweet". Common fired back with a remix of the same track within 24hours- living rick ross and drake's verses, but replacing French Montana's verse, with his own reply verse to Drake. I said all that to say this- why did French Montana have to be the one to tell us that Drake wants to fight Common?

I am just asking. Anyway, read what French Montana said about the Drake/Common beef below-

"I think it was over [Serena Williams] or something like that," French said speaking on Drake and Common's feud. "Shout-out to Serena Williams. I'm staying out of that. I think French Montana is just looking for some publicity. And him saying this is not even looking good for Drake. This kind of confirms what Common said about Drake hiding behind Rick Ross and French Montana. By the way, French Montana is signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records. I am just wondering the link. I think the only link with him and drake most be that Rick Ross hangs out with Diddy and Drake a lot, and since he is signed to Diddy's label, they would bump into each other every once in a while. But i don't think that is enough for him to speak on Drake's behalf. And for him to say he thinks it is over Serena Williams is out of place.

Personally, i want Drake and Common to do the back and forth dissing on wax. I think it will be really interesting and good for hip hop. It started really heating up a couple of weeks ago, but Drake is the one slowing the tempo. Does it take two weeks to write a diss record? It only took Common a day to write his.

And making it physical is not going to be good for Drake at all. Anyone with eyes can see that Drake would stand no chance in the ring with Common for even a round. Common would probably knock him out with one puch. Or slap the taste out of his mouth. lol! Please, don't get me wrong. I am a Drake fan, but i am also a Common fan. I am just pissed that Drake is stalling. He is meant to have responded by now.

5th Week Sales Of Young Jeezy's TM 103

Young Jeezy's TM 103 album has been on the chart for 5 weeks now, and it sold 19,000 copies this week. It is now at a total of 380,000 sold so far. If it steadies at this range for another 6 weeks, it would definitely hit the 500k mark.

I see Jeezy goig Gold with this Album by the end of Feb. Congratulations to Jeezy and all his die-hard fans.

Robert Townsend Says Nas Is Underrated

Film Director, Actor, and Comedian, Robert Townsend was interviewed by sohh.com, and when asked who he considers underrated in the Hip Hop world, he said Nas. In case you don't know him, he was the lead man in the 1993 movie, The Meteor Man...which he also wrote. I just want you guys to know that this dude is 54, so for him to still know a thing or two about rap he deserves an applause.

"I don't know, I don't know because I would say Nas. You know what? I'd say Nas," Townsend told SOHH when asked what hip-hop artist is most underrated. "He's really brilliant. I think it's his creativity that stands out. Lyrically, he knows how to put it all together. There's some lines and sometimes when I'm with my kids, we'll listen to different things [like Nas' music] and he's just brilliant. I just think Nas is up there with the best. Right now Lil Wayne is at the top of his game but he's up there with the best and he's got a point of view." (SOHH)

I would say Nas is like a Micheal Jordan, and Lil Wayne is Lebron James. It is funny people keep comparing Nas and Lil Wayne. There should never be a comparison. Like last year when Jenifer Lopez was asked who her favorite rapper was. She said that it was Nas for many years, but now it is Wayne. I hope poeople don't get it twisted and think they are actually saying Wayne is a better rapper than Nas. Wayne is untop now, and Nas has been where Wayne is. Even though Nas has never been the one to love the attention, he has been at the top before.

It's all good though. It is hip hop, and it changes with time. For any rapper to be in the game for more than 10 years, and still get mentioned a lot as one of the best, i think it is a great achievement. That's why i will always respect, Jay-Z, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Fabolous...and the other rappers in that category.

Rap Album Releases For Jan 2012

There are not too many major rap releases for Jan 2012, there are more mixtapes dropping. Rick Ross, T.I and Raekwon have already dropped mixtapes so far. The first official album to drop this month was from Yo Gotti (Live From The Kitchen) on the 10th. KRS 1 also dropped an album the same day; The BDP Album, but it didn't make
it on the chart.

The other notable rap album release for this month is from 40 Glocc- New World Agenda, dropping on Jan 24. Pete Rock And CL Smooth will also drop the deluxe version of their The Main Ingredient Album that same day. There would definitely be more major releases starting from Feb.

Prodigy Speaks On Living With Sickle Cell

I can remember hearing Tupac say some thing like- "ain't one of you guys got sickle cell or something" Speaking of Mobb Deep...Prodigy to be precise. That song and what Tupac said was really offensive back then, and it kinda made me feel bad for the person he was talking to. That was 1996, and i didn't even know Mobb Deep back then. Nas opened my eyes to Them (Prodigy and Havoc) in 1999, with all the collaborations they did. Prodigy has come forward to speak on how he has been managing with sickle cell so far...

"To me, it's a blessing from God, number one," he said of how he's managed to have sickle cell for so many years. "Secondly, I take care of my health. I don't fuck around. I learned how to do that of that a long time ago. There was years I was slippin'. I had many years where I was slippin'. I fell off on my health shit. I was drinking and doing all the wrong shit. When I got locked up, it actually helped me get my shit back together because you ain't got access to none of that shit no more."

"Plus, when you're in jail, that's the worst place you could ever be to have sickle cell. You will die in that muthafucker. Them niggas don't care if you screaming in pain. If they don't see blood, if they don't see you unconscious with blood, they not taking you to the hospital. So, I had to get myself together. I had to get my health together to make sure I wasn't going to get sick in there. I started working out. I was eating right, drinking mad water and just doing what I had to do to stay healthy."

I think the best i have seen him is now. I mean, since he got out of jail. He is now looking super healthy, and has gained weight. I guess it was from hitting the gym a lot while locked up. Just compare the picture above, with the one below, and you would have an idea of what i am talking about.

DJ Whoo Kid Speaks On How Suge Knight Set Him Up

This news is old, but it just getting out in the open for the first time. Apparently, Suge Knight felt disrespected when G-Unit DJ Whoo Kid put an unreleased Tupac verse on 50 cent's "Th Realest Killaz" back in 2002/2003. So, Suge set him up to get him beat up...Read the rest of the story below-

“Suge Knight took it upon himself to ‘find me’ that day — the promoter got tricked, too. The promoter gave me the five G’s and once I got to the stage, of course, at the time ‘In Da Club’ was the biggest record, so of course the first record I played was ‘In Da Club.’ So as soon as I played ‘In Da Club,’ the whole club turned and looked at me…[then] the promoter came up to me and was like, ‘We gotta get you out of here — Suge Knight’s in the front.

“We’re trying to call the cops so he don’t come in, but he wants to come in’ [Then] we started running out the back, I’m jumping in the van, and then for some reason – I don’t know where, but [affiliate] C-Lo got the dirtiest looking gun I ever seen in my life, so I’m looking up and I see the 34th Street Gang running up to us with knives, so I’m like, ‘Holy sh*t, I’m about to get stabbed for some 50 sh*t!’ I’m like, ‘Yo, get the gun!’ By the time [C-Lo] grabs it…the police come — [C-Lo] throws the gun all the way to the back of the van. The cops grab the 34th Street Gang, and we peel
off.”

Suge has been knocked out a couple of times now, so he is not as scary and feared as he once was. But is funny to read that Whoo Kid was actually running from Suge Knight. Incase you didn't know, Suge put Death Row Records together in the early 90s. His major act was Snoop Dogg, and Dr Dre as an in house producer and also an artist. He later signed his biggest act- Tupac in 1995, after bailing him out of jail.

Little by little, The Death Row empire fell. Dr Dre left, Tupac died, and Snoop also left. Suge has never been the same after wards. And now he hates people tampering with his investment...and that unreleased Tupac verse was part of his investment.

Jay and Kanye have been sitting on the throne for more than 8 weeks now at the number 1 position with their Niggas In Paris track, and they still occupy the spot this week. Rick Ross made his entry unto the top 10 this week, with his Nicki Minaj assisted track- You The Boss. I think he needs to shoot a video for that track A.S.A.P! It has been out since october last year. I know he is resting and trying to get his health in check, but a video can be shot in a day.

Drake is all over the chart, three tracks in total. And it is funny that his label mate, Nicki Minaj also appears three times on the chart. Although she doesn't have her on song on the chart, she is featured three times- with Big Sean, Drake and Rick Ross respectively.

You can't look into the history of Hip Hop in Nigeria and not bump into that name- Eldee is a pioneer rapper in Nigeria, and still is a prominent name in the music Industry currently in the country. Although he was away in the U.S for a while in the mid 00s, he returned towards the end of the 00s, and has been a name to reckon with since then. His real name is Lanre Dabiri, and that's where he carved the stage name eldee from...LD- eldee. He started a rap group (Trybes Men) in 1998, consisting of Freestyle, Kaboom and himself. He then took it a step further to form a crew in the early 00s, called Da Trybe. The crew consisted of rappers, most of which have branched out from Eldee's Trybes Record Company, but are still making waves in the industry. Sasha (now with Storm Records), Dr Sid (now with Mo-Hits Records), 2Shortz, Timi, and OlaDele.

I can remember hearing eldee, freestyle and kaboom (trybes men) on radio back in the late 90s and just knowing they had come to change the game. They did, and influenced a lot of other rappers that came after. You can say that hip hop in Nigeria was a joke before the arrival of Trybes Men. They had two radio bangers- "shake body" and "trybal marks". Eldee single handedly kicked off his label (Trybes Records), with some fond from his mom. And his rap partners (kabom and freestyle) became his first artists under the label. There was a little falling out with freestyle and eldee between 2006 and 2007, which has been resolved since then. At the time, Freestyle was claiming he was the real brains behind the label, and that he wasn't getting his due props for it. They had split up at the point and Eldee was at the time getting his Masters in the states.

Eldee has, since his return to the country, began putting together a new Trybes Records crew. The new army consist Proto, Chiddy Bang, OlaDele, Ice Berg Slim and ofcos Eldee himself. His solo career began in 2004 with the release of his official debut album- Long Time Coming. He followed that up with 2006's Return Of The King which featured hit singles like "Champion" and the controversial "I Go Yarn". In 2006, he released his third album, Big Boy which had radio bangers like "Bosi gbangba" and the album title single- "Big Boy". He also did a remix of Big Boy, with Bad Boy Records Young Joc. He released a mixtape in 2010 tiltled "Is It Your Money". Because of the quality of the material on the mixtape, people started calling it his 4th album. Currently, he uses a "sing-song" style in most of his songs, which was present in his "Bosi gbangba" hit, but he can still rap his ass of when he wants to.

He studied Architecture at the University of Lagos before traveling to the states for his Masters. He got married to his longtime girlfriend, Dolapo Latinwo-Belo in November of 2008. They have a daughter together.

Rap Albums On The Billboard Chart

This is middle January, and holidays are fully over. People are getting used to school life again, and workers are getting used to work again. This period always records the lowest sales in the music industry. Drake is the highest selling rapper on the billboard chart this week, with his Take Care album moving 32,000 copies. The album is now at a total of 1,321,000 copies so far.

Young Jeezy is up next with his TM 103 album which moved 24,000 copies this week...this is its 4th week on the chart. The album is now at a total of 361,000. Yo Gotti's Live From The Kitchen made its debut on the chart this week with 16,000 copies sold first week.

The Throne (jay-z and kanye west) are up next, and their Watch The Throne album sold 13,000 copies this week, and now totals at 1,261,000. Lil Wayne's Carter 4 moved 12,000 copies this week and is now at a total of 1,947,000 since its August 28 2011 release.

Common and Wale sold 8,500 and 6,100 copies respectively of their individual albums this week. Common's The Dreamer/The Believer is at a total of 106,000, and Wale's Ambition is at a total of 339,000.

Fat Joe Speaks On Hit-Making Skills

Anyone that has been in the hiphop world for the last 10 years know fat joe drops hot radio hits. From "Lean Back", to "Make It Rain" to "I wont Tell". Regardless of the fact that he always features people on these songs, you can't deny the fact that he has ears for good music. Beautiful music i would say. He has a new single out with Chris Brown- Another Round. I saw the video over the weekend, and i have to say it is great music. I do think he let Chris do most of the work, but it still is his song. And i know the song is going to blow up with time. Just give a couple of weeks...like 3 weeks.

I totally agree with what he is saying. And the other point he made is also very true. There are a lot of people who know how to work their album till people get to like it. The thing is that if an artist is all up in your face, and you are seeing something new from her/him every now and then, their music gets embedded on your subconscious mind, and you start to believe they are cool. It is a psychological thing. And a lot of these big artists use it. It is cool though...at least they are working hard, so maybe they do deserve it.

I just get pissed when i see some of my favorite rappers dropping only one single/video from their albums. They drop that one single before the album hits stores, and when the album doesn't do so well, they just forget that particular project. It pains me to my bones when rappers like sheek louch, and even Game don't work on marketing the other songs on their album when the album kicks off with low sales. Even if your label don't give you the money for it, i feel you can use your money to shoot a second video. Money like that is never wasted, cos you are really investing in your self.

4th Week Sales Of Young Jeezy's TM 103 Album

Young Jeezy's Thug Motivation 103 (TM 103), has been on the chart for four weeks, and this week it moved 24,000 copies. TM 103 is now at a total of 361,000 copies so far. As i said in an earlier post, i see the album going Gold by Feb.

I think it will hit that 500k mark by end of feb. Congratulations to all the Young Jeezy fans that are making this possible.

Papoose Speaks On Past Jay-Z and Nas Beef

Papoose is making the news a lot lately. I guess he is gearing up to his debut album drop later this year. In case you don't know, Pap still doesn't have a studio album out, although he has released two dozen mixtapes through the course of his career so far. He was asked which rap battle he considers the greatest in the history of hip hop, and he said it would have to be the Nas/Jay-Z battle. He then went further to state who he felt won that battle.

"To keep it real with you, there was a lot of great battles, but I've got to say, I can't even say great battle but just to see somebody get annihilated? I've got to say Jay-Z and Nas," Pap said in an interview when asked to name his favorite rap battle. "That was decapitation, man. ... It's not rocket science what happened. That's one of the great battles, there's other ones too though, in hip-hop history. I can go on and on, but that's one that stands out. ... It wasn't an age thing but a lot of people were sleeping. Like, 'It's over! Jay-Z killed him!' I was like, 'Aight, watch.' I knew it was coming, man." (Hot 93.7)

A lot of people have really started speaking on this issue, and i think people that don't know when it went down would think it happened 3 years ago. Not knowing that it has been over a decade long. The Jay-Z and Nas battle happened back in 2001. And it birthed ether and takeover- two of the best rap battle songs in the history of hip hop. And i think i agree with Papoose on this being the greatest rap battle of all time. Think about it...which other battle had two worthy opponents going at each other. In the case of Tupac and Biggie, biggie didn't release a direct diss track at Pac after hit em up. And contrary to what a lot of people say, i don't think LL COOL J came back stronger than Canibus's 2nd Round Knockout.

I think the Nas/Jay-Z beef made people really wake up to Nas's genius. I remember hearing "Takeover" and thinking- "how the hell will nas come back from this". I think that's what made the battle so great. It's like watching those Van Dame movies where he comes back to beat the bad guy after a broken rib or something. Truthfully speaking, Jay-Z had the whole world on lock-down at that time, and for nas to even get an audience after "Takeover" is incredible. But it is cool that they are past that and are very cool friends. I remember when they squashed the beef, a friend of mine seized being a Nas fan (till this day). And the funny one was how Fat Joe said he felt he would die when he heard the news. In case you didn't know, Fat Joe has always been a huge Nas fan...and for a long time he didn't like Jay-Z. The hate between Jay and Fat Joe ended when Jay went to Fat Joe's J.O.S.E 2 release party without being invited. After that, Fat Joe tweeted the incidence and how honored he felt. And that was the end of the hate.

Eedris Dissing D Banj- What Is Your Opinion

Nigerian Rapper, Eedris Abdulkarem, formerly of The Remedies, came out last week to openly diss D Banj at the rally against the federeal government over the hike in fuel price in Lagos. Eedris has never been the one to shy away from airing his views on any matter, so this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. His 2002 track, "jaga jaga", which had lyrics attacking the then government even caught the presidents attention...which led to President Obasonjo replying him in an interview saying- it is Eedris that is "jaga jaga". Anyway, D Banj made a remix of hit song, "scape goat", to support the current presidents campaign in 2010. And that is what Abdulkarem is pissed off about right now.

People might say that that's a bit harsh, but you have to know how painful it is from Eedris point of view. Look at this way...d banj has all those millions of fans that would do what ever he says, and he goes ahead and endorses a president a lot of people believe is just a stooge for the out-going president...how do you think that would make another musician that fights for the people feel? If d banj collected millions to do that campaign, he definitely has betrayed his people...or more like sold his rights.

Papoose Comments On Common/Drake Beef

Papoose, in a recent interview commented on the ongoing Common and Drake beef. The beef started with Drake believing Common's "sweet" track was about him, and dissing Common on twitter and at his shows. He took it a step further and dissed Common on "stay schemin"...a track off Rick Ross's Rich Forever mixtape. Common replied with his version of "stay schemin" remix...living ross and drake's verses, and delivering his drake diss on the third verse. I think it was a lovely concept. Read what Papoose had to say about the Beef below-

"It's interesting, man, because Common is a master lyricist," Pap explained in an interview with radio host Kevin Reese. "I think Drake is nice too. So it'll be interesting to see the outcome. I'm like everybody else, I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen. You know what I mean? So to me, it's just interesting to me because they both can rap, they're both nice. You know what I mean? So it ain't gonna be no walk in the park. [Younger emcees typically go after older emcees?] I think it's the other way around these days. I think the older cats are coming back for some of the new cats a little bit more. That's what it seems like to me. Drake responded though, on the joint with him, [Rick] Ross and [French Montana], and then Common came back the next day. So now we have to wait for Drake to answer his phone now and see what happens. It's interesting." (Hot 93.7)

Contrary to what people are saying, i think Drake is a worthy opponent of Common. I think this could be a very interesting beef. We all know no one is going to take it to the streets, so it will just be on wax. And i feel it is just what hip hop needs at the moment. A worthy match between the new and the old. I didn't really enjoy Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj's beef cos Nicki was playing Kim like the bully, while she had been sending sneak attacks to kim for as long as she has been hot in the game. But, following the tweets i have read on twitter, the Common/Drake beef is a 50/50 thing...half the people are on common's side, and the other half are siding with Drake. So, i feel it will be great for hip hop.

As Papoose said, i am waiting for Drake's response after the common diss. It is almost two weeks now, and nothing from Drake. Common responded to Drake within 24 hours. I think Common hit Drake's soft spot talking about his Dad and Mom. It is clear, through Drake's music that he is emotional about topics relating to his family. And for common to put him on blast to the world like that most have hit him hard.

Why Do People Hate Jay-Z and Beyonce So Much

I don't particularly like Jay-Z and Beyonce, but i don't hate them either. They had a baby (baby) a couple of days ago , and i was surprised to read a lot of hate comments on the internet about them. And i think the story flying around them paying $1.3 million for a whole floor at the hospital Beyonce had the baby in made the hate even worse. I think people do not like other people that are so successful.

Yea, i think that should be why people hate Jay-Z and Beyonce so much. They are the power couple. The richest most successful rapper, with the richest most successful r&b artist. People most be like- "why should their life be so perfect?" But, i also think it's because of how B and J show off. Cos, really there have been other musicians with a lot of money that weren't hated as much. People didn't hate Michael Jackson cos he was rich?

People don't hate Mariah Carey and Nick Canon. Okay, Canon is not as rich as Jay-Z but, they are still a rich couple both in the music industry. I think the only reason i can come up with on why people hate Jay and Beyonce so much is because they brag a lot and flaunt their wealth in the public eye...through their lyrics and music videos. People get tired of too much of that. They might love you at first, but they end up hating.

When one of my friends heard jay made a song for his kid, he said blatantly- "I hate that guy". As i said, i neither hate nor love them. Of cos, i do appreciate all they have contributed to the music industry. If i hear a Jay-Z song i like, i bump it...If i hear a Beyonce song i like, i bump it. I don't really hate anyone. I might not like somethings you do, but i just guess it is a waste of time and energy hating another man.

They are both great artists though. Drake has 3 songs on the chart and Cole has 2. And their bosses have one song each on the chart.

The Motto from Drake feat Lil Wayne is the newest track and only entry into the top 10 chart this week. Every other song has been on the chart for while. The Throne (Jay-Z and Kanye West) still retain the top spot as the number one rap song in the states, with Niggas In Paris.

Odd Future's Syd The Kyd addmits Being A Lesbian

Syd The Kyd, the lone female artist of the very eccentric and controversial Hip Hop group, Odd Future has come forward to open up about her sexuality, and being a Lesbian in Hip Hop. She also talks about a lot of other artists in hip hop that are homosexuals but are ashamed to come out of the closet. I can remember Fat Joe saying the same thing. Fat Joe even said he has definitely done records with closet homosexuals, and that he wonders why they wont come out the closet.

Below is what Syd had to say about the video in which she admits her sexuality.

"I decided to do it because I wish I had someone like that [an openly gay female artist] while I was coming up. People write on my Tumblr just thanking me for making the video, saying that I really inspire them, and they want to be like me," said Syd. "But I wasn't always this way, this comfortable with myself, and I remember what that was like. So I figure, fuck it. Everyday people aren't given this opportunity and I realize that. And I didn't at first. I thought I was just lucky to be along for the ride."

She focused in on several women in urban music who she suspects are lesbians and are hiding their sexuality from the public. "There's Alicia Keys, who's married to Swizz Beatz - we know that shit ain't real," she said. "You got Queen Latifah kissing Common in movies. Missy Elliott saying she don't wanna hang with bitches. You know she loves her some bitches."

Hmm! This is interesting. I knew about Latifah and Missy, but i didn't know Alicia Keys was swinging that way. Personally, i think there a lot of people, not just Gays, that are scared to admit what they really are. I know a lot of people are going to openly condemn this girl for making this move, but i know one thing for sure, her heart would be lighter now.

J.Cole's Work Out Single Goes Platinum

Congratulations to Roc Nations's own, J.Cole. His Work Out single just went platinum. He hit twitter to share the good news with his fans. And it is really funny that he got a lot of criticism for releasing this song as a first single for his Cole World: The Sideline Story album. Personally, at first i didn't like the track cos it wasn't what i was used to him doing. But when i gave it a little more listen, it became of of my favorites on the album, along with "In The Morning" and "Lights Please".
