Entrecard Host on Fire - There Goes The Drop For Today

Recent Entrecard outage was caused by electrical fire from Entrecard's host, ThePlanet. More than 9000 other websites (mostly top websites of the world) were affected. Luckily Entrecard's data were fine. Because of that, for the next 12 to 24 hours Entrecard site will be down, so does the dropping system. Spread this message to fellow Entrecarders and let's hope that Graham and the team can solve this problem and quickly recover.

Blog Catalog's Face Off - Replacement 2008

Blog Catalog has come up with new design and logo! As mentioned in their newsletter, they are adding some 2.0 spices in their layout. It began from homepage where the layout was slightly upgraded. Members and blogs were more exposed, while the most popular discussions is listed at the bottom. Since this is more like a social media, Blog Catalog is more focusing in their member's exposure rather than their own news and updates, which is why it was placed at the bottom right corner. And what's more in their homepage? It is the Social Search form!

What is Social Search?

Social Search in Blog Catalog is to search from the latest update of each member's social media activity. More like searching each member's RSS Feed.

What activities are categorized as social media activity in Blog Catalog?

Those activities includes:

Joining a Group in Blog Catalog
Starting a discussion
Sending an announcement
Updating your blog
Updating your social media subscription (digg, del.icio.us, etc)

This search facility can be useful to those who needs to have niche blogging and building up social networks. You can also keep track of your peers social media activity from Blog Catalog's new addition of NewsFeed Widget as mentioned in their blog.

Other things that also change was the layout for member pages. Now they can be easily distinguished and navigate from navigation tab.

In conclusion, Blog Catalog's new updates are even more appealing!

Blog Review - Digit-8

Digit-8.com is a money maker blog owned by Evaldas. This blog started to grab the attention of its readers since January 2008 with the first entry One of the way to get rich. The name "Digit-8" act as a symbol of the blog's main idea, to get your 8 digits revenue from the internet.

In the view of its availability in the internet, social bookmarking is not the main focus of this site. But the reader can still see this site through BlogCatalog, Entrecard and Technorati. Reader's can also favor this site as it was nominated in Blogger's Choice Awards for Best Blog Design, even though the current design is still using N-Design Studio's Wordpress template.

This site is using the two-column style to present both content and sidebar widgets, however that kind of layout is not preferable to most money-maker-blogs. Two-column layout is more to the "content enhancement blog" rather than "advertisers blog". Since we supposed that the content is the main focus of this blog, this shouldn't matter any further.

And the last thing to point on this blog is how the content was displayed. Five latest posts in the front page is the preferred option in this blog. Each post was neatly presented with pictures and figures. The author really gives full effort in explaining each title in details. However, by presenting the whole content in the front page, their reader must scroll down the whole page in order to see other posts.

Entrecard is Even Better with Linked Blogs!

Only a few hours ago this site submit similar content regarding Entrecard, a social networking site. Just a few minutes ago, Review @ Kota Berita received new major updates done by Entrecard!

In the previous version of Entrecard:

You only have one blog for one account
If you want to change blog, you must switch account by logging out and re-login

Current version of Entrecard (May 19th 2008):

You can have more than one blog per account
Each blog have separate Entrecard credit (so you can still drop for each one)
You can decide which blog will be active and counted for dropping cards
You can transfer Entrecard credits among your blogs
